Episode 531: The Wrath of Malefic Pokémon
Here is a little something I have been meaning to share, but never got the chance to do: I plan on having Riku's Scyther evolve into a Kleavor. I'm pretty sure it was obvious to some of you, but I wanted to share that bit of information to you before I get started on the chapter.
A short time has passed as Sora and Riku began for some training. Sora has sent out Bunnelby to train as Riku has sent out his Scyther.
"Okay, Bunnelby! Tackle, let's go!" Sora ordered. Bunnelby charged at Scyther with Tackle.
"Dodge and use Slash!" Riku ordered. Scyther dodged and swiped his scythe at the hare Pokémon. Bunnelby was sent back. Bunnelby got back up on his feet.
"Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Bunnelby ran towards Scyther with Quick Attack.
"You use Quick Attack, too, Scyther!" Riku ordered. Scyther flew right at Bunnelby. The digging Pokémon managed to get right under Scyther. They were unaware of a wild Froakie watching them closely. This Froakie is a light periwinkle color. The Froakie looked at Riku with great interest. "Use Night Slash!"
"Dig to dodge!" Sora ordered. Bunnelby dug underneath to avoid Scyther's Night Slash. Scyther looked around for any signs of Bunnelby.
"Keep your guard up, Scyther. Bunnelby will come out at any moment," Riku said. Scyther looked around for any signs of Bunnelby. Bunnelby then emerged from underground.
"Tackle!" Sora ordered.
"Use Slash!" Riku ordered. Scyther lands a Slash onto Bunnelby, sending him against a tree. Bunnelby was taken down. Sora went up to his Bunnelby.
"You okay, Bunnelby?" Sora asked with concern.
"Bunnelby," Bunnelby replied.
"Get some rest. You battled enough for today," Sora said, calling Bunnelby back.
"Excellent work, Scyther. Knew you could do it. Get some rest," Riku said, calling Scyther back.
"You had that Scyther for a little while, and you two go well together," Sora said.
"Yeah, I've been training my new Scyther to stay on his toes," Riku said. "Say, Sora. I'll bet you didn't know Scyther has another evolution." This surprised Sora greatly.
"Scyther can evolve into something else? I thought it was only a Scizor Scyther can evolve into," Sora said.
"I thought the same thing, Sora. It was Lillie who brought this to my attention. There was once a time Scyther evolved into that unique Pokémon, so I thought I should see it for myself," Riku said.
"You know, Riku, with everything that's happened to us in the past, I'd believe just about anything," Sora said.
"Me too," Riku said.
"Did Lillie say what kind of Pokémon Scyther can evolve into?" Sora asked.
"She called it 'Kleavor', and that's all I know about it for right now," Riku said. "She also mentioned Stantler and Basculin being able to evolve as well."
"My mind is officially blown," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
Unaware of the Froakie's presence, it silently moves. It took the advantage of the conversation, giving it the cover it needed, but moved cautiously, not wanting them to know until it wanted them to.
Sora's Froakie came out of his own Pokéball and looked around.
"Froakie, what did you come out for?" Sora asked. Froakie hurled a Water Pulse when he found where the other Froakie was hiding. This forces the wild bubble frog Pokémon to come out. "I see. It's because you sensed that other Froakie's presence." The wild Froakie looked right at Riku and started to hop towards him. Riku knew what this could mean.
"You're challenging me into a battle, right?" Riku asked.
"Froakie," the wild Froakie replied, nodding.
"I accept your challenge," Riku said. He turned to his partner. "You ready to go, Eevee?"
"Vee," Eevee nodded. The evolution Pokémon stepped in front of Riku to start battling. The Froakie starts up by firing Bubble at Eevee.
"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Riku ordered. Eevee dodged the wild Froakie's Bubble and then lands a hit. The wild Froakie then lands a Pound onto Eevee. The wild Froakie then gave Eevee a hit with Quick Attack. The wild Froakie then gave Eevee a Pound on the mark. Riku was impressed by that Froakie's strength. He could see it's full of potential.
"Eevee! Use Swift!" Riku ordered. Eevee unleashed Swift all around and struck the wild Froakie. It then came at Eevee with another Quick Attack. "Dig!" Eevee dug into the ground to avoid the wild Froakie's attack. It looked around for Eevee. He emerged from underground. "Shadow Ball!" Eevee fired Shadow Ball, and struck the wild Froakie hard. "Use Quick Attack!" Eevee lands another Quick Attack on it. "Dig!" Eevee then dug underneath. The wild Froakie approached the hole. "Swift!" Eevee unleashed Swift from underneath, striking the wild Froakie. "One more Shadow Ball!" Eevee fired Shadow Ball and struck the wild Froakie, finishing it. Riku took out a Pokéball and threw it. The wild Froakie flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Riku approached the Pokéball containing his newest Pokémon and picked it. He grinned. "I got my own Froakie."
"That Froakie gave Eevee quite a beating, but you and Eevee turned it around," Sora said.
"I sure did," Riku agreed. "Come out, Froakie." He opened his Pokéball, and Riku's new Froakie emerged from inside. He approached the bubble frog Pokémon. "You're really strong. I can tell just by the way you battled. So, I figured you would get even stronger with me training you." Riku's new Froakie looked at him and nodded. Sora looked at his own Froakie and smiled.
"It looks like you might get your own rival, Froakie," Sora said. Sora's Froakie looked at Riku's Froakie and he knew he was right. The two of them would become rivals as time presses on.
After getting some training done, the boys and Pokémon rejoined the group. Naminé has taken a shine to her boyfriend's newest Pokémon.
"A Froakie, but this one is in a different color," Naminé said.
"Yeah. This one has lots of spirit," Riku said.
"Kinda like someone I know," Naminé said lovingly. Riku smiled as Naminé kissed him on the cheek. This made Riku blush as Bonnie was grinning with delight.
"Ah, how romantic," Bonnie said, getting all giddy.
"Denne, ne!" Dedenne said happily.
They were not aware that they were still being watched. The figure moves back and mysteriously vanishes.
Over to the Team Shadow base, the Team Shadow peons all retrieved Malefic Pokémon of their own.
"Since we know Sora Ketchum and his friends are here in the Kalos region, this will be a good opportunity to unleash the Malefic Pokémon on them," Ein said.
"Indeed, sir," the leading Team Shadow peon agreed. "They won't know what hits them."
"First, we need only to know where he's heading," Ein said.
"Our sources tells us that they will be heading to Cyllage City by now," the leading Team Shadow peon said.
"Then we will make certain that they never get that far," Ein said. "Gather a small squad and pursue them. And then, launch the attack."
"Understood, sir," the leading Team Shadow peon said. He gathered a small squad as ordered, and headed out to find Sora and his friends.
Meanwhile, two animals are rustling through the trees of the forest, picking some fruit. One of them a lime-green colored, male chameleon. He is further described as having eyes that are blue in color, and these are surrounded in arched, dark-green markings. He also has a long curled tail, pronged casque upon his head, and even scarlet-red markings and spikes upon his back, eyelids, hands, toes, and tail. He has a round yellow patch upon his torso. And the other big-nosed purple female bat with lime-green eyes. She is further described as having thin, black eyebrows, and a large red nose as well as sharp fangs, pointy ears, and thin wings. Additionally, her ears, wings, feet, and the patch on her torso are peach-orange in color.
Just then, Ty comes to the scene and spots them.
"Yooka, Laylee!" Ty called out. The chameleon and bat looked down and came down.
"Hello, Ty," Yooka greeted.
"How's it going?" Laylee asked.
"Hey, Fiora is wondering if you seen Shulk and the others? She won't let up about it," Ty said.
"Thought they were with you," Laylee said.
"That's what the others kept saying. We didn't hear back from them, and she's very worried about him," Ty said.
"You think those fellows have something to do with their disappearing act?" Laylee asked.
"I'm starting to think so, Laylee. We'll have to look everywhere for them," Yooka said.
"Right," Ty said.
The three animals went off to search for their missing friends, unaware of an Inkay watching them. The little squid-like Pokémon started to float and follow them.
Back to Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Eevee, Azurill, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon, they were enjoying a meal that Kairi had prepared for everyone. They weren't aware that the scent of the meal has attracted a hungry Helioptile. This Helioptile is slightly larger than the one Clemont has. The wild Helioptile hadn't eaten anything in many hours since it was chased away by an angry Haxorus. The Helioptile made it to the group and saw the food being devoured greedily by Chespin. Its mouth watered at the large berries, and the other food. Helioptile sniffed the soup, and that became its new target. The lizard-like Pokémon started to run for the soup and started to chow down on the soup.
"There's seconds if anyone wants some," Kairi announced. Ventus handed her his bowl. Kairi was about to fill up his bowl when she saw Helioptile eating the soup. It wasn't until it looked up when it saw her. "Where did you come from?" The Helioptile then leapt off the pot and heads for the other Pokémon's food. This caught everyone's attention. Helioptile attempted to swipe at Chespin's, but the spiny nut Pokémon lands a Vine Whip onto it. Chespin stood defiantly between his food and Helioptile.
"A Helioptile," Ventus said.
"That one is much bigger than the one Clemont has," Bonnie pointed out.
"And he's very hungry," Kairi said.
"You did catch him eating our lunch," Karen said.
Helioptile fired Thunder Shock at Chespin, but he dodged and ran towards him, landing a hit with Tackle.
"Chespin! Bite!" Sora ordered. Chespin came at Helioptile, but he dodged and attacked with Pound. "Vine Whip!" Chespin gave Helioptile a couple of smacks with Vine Whip, but that ends up making Helioptile very angry. Helioptile then fired Thunder Shock again, and it struck Chespin. It did little damage, but Chespin ends up being paralyzed by Helioptile's hands. "Chespin! Don't give up!" Chespin then came at Helioptile with Rollout. Helioptile is struck by the move.
"That was Rollout!" Clemont said.
"And it gets stronger from time it lands a hit!" Aqua said.
"Keep it up! Rollout again!" Sora ordered. Chespin kept rolling at Helioptile again. Helioptile was hit a few more times. One more Rollout was enough to knock Helioptile out. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Helioptile flowed inside and the Pokéball starts to wobble around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Helioptile with him. He chose to send Helioptile to Professor Oak's lab. "Good job, Chespin. That was an awesome Rollout." Chespin beamed, but his paralysis kicked in.
"Have a Cheri Berry," Karen said, feeding Chespin. "Is that better?"
"Chespin!" Chespin said, feeling his paralysis subside.
"Glad to hear it," Karen said, petting Chespin.
"At least we know Helioptile likes your cooking, Kairi," Bonnie said.
"I was thinking the same thing," Sora said.
The group were going about their business before they were interrupted, unaware that Team Shadow has found them. They launched their attack, catching the group by surprise.
"Again?!" Meowth exclaimed.
"Now what?!" Sora exclaimed. He got his answer when Team Shadow came out of their hiding place. "Team Shadow!"
"What do you want?" Ventus asked.
"We want to finish you off," the leading Team Shadow peon said, taking out a Pokéball. "And this time, there's no running away!" He threw it. "Go! Ursaring!" His Pokéball opened, and an Ursaring came right out. Ursaring has the Malefic metallic structure on its face, and its claws.
"It's an Ursaring!" Ventus said.
"Pika!" Sparky said.
"Something's different about it," Terra said.
"Pika!" Thor added.
Sora could sense something was very off about Ursaring. He took a look at the bear Pokémon's aura, and it gave off a black, white, and gray aura. And it was giving off an evil vibe.
"You don't know how right you are, Terra," Sora said.
"Feeling scared? You haven't even seen what it can do! Ursaring! Use Malefic Claw!" The leading Team Shadow peon ordered. The Malefic Ursaring came at the group, with a Malefic aura, making them scatter.
"Malefic Claw?!" Sora exclaimed in shock.
"What you just witnessed was a Malefic move. The moves that only a Malefic Pokémon can use," the leading Team Shadow peon said.
"Malefic Pokémon?" Sora asked.
"What are you going on about?" Riku asked.
"Until recently, we have been doing a series of experimenting, and we have tapped into a Pokémon's negative emotions. We channeled it into emotions of pure evil; making them even stronger than any regular Pokémon," the leading Team Shadow peon explained.
"You did what?!" Sora exclaimed in disgust.
"A Pokémon's negative emotions?" Aqua asked.
"How could you do something this horrible?" Kairi asked.
"Yes, how?" Karen added.
"We have been working on this project for quite some time, and now we can use the power of Malefic Pokémon to destroy you once and for all, Sora Ketchum! And our other enemies as well; especially your otherworldly friends, like those Digimon!" The leading Team Shadow peon said.
"Not if we have a say in this!" Agumon said. "Pepper Breath!" He fired Pepper Breath at the Malefic Ursaring. It slashed through the fireball.
Gabumon, "Blue Blaster!"
Veemon, "V-Shot!"
Biyomon, "Spiral Twister!"
Tentomon, "Super Shocker!"
Palmon, "Poison Ivy!"
Hawkmon, "Feather Strike!"
Armadillomon, "Diamond Shell!"
Wormmon, "Sticky Net!"
Patamon, "Boom Bubble!"
Gatomon, "Lightning Paw!"
Malefic Ursaring was struck by the Digimon's attacks, but they didn't do a thing to hurt it.
"Malefic Rush!" The leading Team Shadow peon ordered. Malefic Ursaring lands a hit onto the Digimon.
"Okay, let's try this out for size!" Meowth yelled. "How would ya like a Fury Swipes in the face?" Meowth ran towards Malefic Ursaring, making the leading Team Shadow peon laugh.
"Malefic Rush again!" The leading Team Shadow peon ordered. Malefic Ursaring lands a hit onto Meowth. He is pushed back, but he has taken a lot of damage.
"Meowth, you okay?" Bonnie asked.
"Yeah, that hurt me a lot. I mean, ouch," Meowth said.
"What is going on?" Ventus asked.
"Oh, did I forget to mention that non-Malefic Pokémon are weakened against Malefic moves performed by Malefic Pokémon themselves? And non- Malefic moves won't do much damage to them at all; no matter which Types they are," The leading Team Shadow peon said.
"Hey, that's not fair!" Ventus hissed.
"Yeah, that's cheating!" Bonnie added.
"Life isn't all about what's fair," the leading Team Shadow peon said. "Now, we're even more stronger than before!" The other peons joined in as several Houndoom are let out. They had Malefic parts on their horns, backs, and faces.
"We'll see about that! Scyther! Night Slash on that Ursaring!" Riku ordered. Scyther came right at the bear Pokémon, and slashed right at the Malefic Ursaring. It did very little damage just as he said it would.
"See? What did I just tell you?" The leading Team Shadow peon gloated.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Riku said.
"Oh, it's no joke," the leading Team Shadow peon said. "Attack!"
"Houndoom! Use Malefic Fire!" The Team Shadow peons ordered. All of the Houndoom fired their attacks on the non-Malefic Pokémon, dealing some damage. Sora's Froakie and Riku's Froakie took weren't going to be bested that easily. They looked at each other and they nodded in agreement. They hopped forward and stood between their friends and their enemies.
"Look at this. Two brave little froggies, hoping to stand up to us. Well, they will all lose," the leading Team Shadow peon said. Pikachu and Eevee joined right in as well.
"You would be surprised what we can do together," Sora said.
"You got that right, Sora. No matter the opponent, or the outcome, we will never give up to the likes of you," Riku said.
"You might want to reconsider, boys, because it's going to be your last mistake to challenge us," the leading Team Shadow peon said. The other Pokémon stood up and challenged the Malefic Houndoom. The Digimon did the same thing.
"We don't give up that easily, chump," Meowth said.
"That's right. And we're not going to stop now!" Kairi said.
"Together, there's nothing we can't do," Karen said.
"So throw anything you've got at us!" Ventus said.
"Because we're not backing down!" Aqua said.
"Not to you or anyone!" Terra said.
"Then you'll be making a very brave end!" The leading Team Shadow peon said. The Malefic Houndoom came at the non-Malefic Pokémon.
Not too far away, Ty, Yooka, and Laylee hear the commotion going on.
"You hear that, mates?" Ty asked.
"Yes. It sounded close," Yooka said.
"And what gave that away?" Laylee asked.
The animals went off to find the source with Inkay still following them.
"Pikachu, Froakie! Use Quick Attack!" Sora ordered.
"You too, Eevee, Froakie!" Riku ordered.
Pikachu, Eevee, and both Froakie dashed around with Quick Attack.
"Malefic Ursaring! Use Malefic Claw!" The leading Team Shadow peon ordered. Malefic Ursaring swiped its claws at the smaller Pokémon. They managed to dodge, but Malefic Ursaring kept going.
"Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu Thunderbolt, landing a hit onto Ursaring. That does little damage to the hibernator Pokémon.
"Eevee! Swift!" Riku ordered. Eevee fired Swift at Ursaring, only to have the same result. Malefic Ursaring growled at the smaller Pokémon.
"Water Pulse!" Sora and Riku ordered. Both Froakie launched their attacks at the Malefic Ursaring. Malefic Ursaring became confused by the combined Water Pulse.
"Malefic Pokémon might not be taking too much damage from non-Malefic Pokémon attacks-" Riku said.
"Doesn't mean they won't feel it. And also, they can still be confused in battle," Sora said.
"Dammit, they're right. Non-Malefic moves may not be very effective on Malefic Pokémon, but they can still be confused, and be affected by status conditions like Ein said. I won't let this stand!" The leading Team Shadow peon said in his thoughts.
"Okay, use Bubble!" Sora ordered.
"You use Bubble, too!" Riku ordered.
Both bubble frog Pokémon fired Bubble right at Ursaring.
"Swipe your claws with Malefic Claw, and then use Malefic Rush!" The leading Team Shadow peon ordered. Malefic Ursaring swiped its claws at the bubbles, popping them. Ursaring then lands a super-effective hit on all of the Pokémon.
The other non-Malefic Pokémon held their own against the Malefic Houndoom.
"Malefic Darkness!" The Team Shadow peons ordered. They unleashed dark energy at the non-Malefic Pokémon. Angel helped Sparky on his feet as Blossom helped up Helioptile. The Digimon even held their own. They could have Digivolved, but the attack from Malefic Ursaring has done a great deal on them.
Just then, Ty, Yooka, and Laylee arrived on the scene.
"Looks like we found those rippers," Ty said.
"And about time," Yooka said. "We gotta help them."
"Yeah, let's show those guys, who's boss," Laylee said.
Ty threw one of his boomerangs at one of the Malefic Houndoom. The boomerang came right back to him.
"Who threw that?" One of the Team Shadow peons asked.
"That'll be me!" Ty said. He glides his way at the Team Shadow peons and gave them a bite. Laylee carried Yooka and he dropped down.
"Look out below!" Yooka called out. He makes a landing on one of the Team Shadow peons. "I told you to look out."
"You'll pay for that, you damn freaking lizard!" Another Team Shadow peon said.
"Hey, can we watch the language? There are children present," Laylee said, flying down to her partner. "Ready for the Reptile Roll?"
"Always," Yooka answered. The chameleon rolled into a ball as the bat moved her feet. They plow through them like a bowling ball, taking out bowling pins. "Strike!"
"Who are you?" Kairi asked.
"And what are you?" Meowth asked Ty.
"Hey, you mean you never seen a tasmanian tiger before?" Ty asked.
"Tasmanian tiger? Ain't ya extinct?" Meowth asked.
"Not where I'm from, mate," Ty said.
"So, you got yourselves some backup. Big deal," the leading Team Shadow peon said.
"Don't know who you guys are, but we're glad you're on our side," Sora said.
"Not a problem, mate. Take that ripper down!" Ty said.
"Right," Sora said. "Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt at Ursaring. "Froakie! Throw your frubbles!" Sora's Froakie took some of his frubbles and threw them at Malefic Ursaring. They get into its face.
"Good one, Sora," Riku said.
"How would like to wrap it up?" Sora offered.
"It will be my pleasure," Riku said. "Eevee! Use Swift! Froakie! Use Water Pulse!" Eevee and his Froakie fired their attacks on Malefic Ursaring. He growled in anger and called Malefic Ursaring back.
"Retreat for now! The battle is lost!" The leading Team Shadow peon ordered. The others all complied, and they all started to retreat. "Savor your victory today, brats! You won this time, but there will be another day!" He runs off.
"Oy, come back here!" Ty called out. He, Yooka, and Laylee chased after the Team Shadow peons.
"Wait, who are you?" Sora asked.
"Right, you should know. I'm Yooka, and she is Laylee," Yooka introduced.
"Hey," Laylee greeted.
"And the one with the boomerangs is Ty. Hope to see you again!" Yooka said, running off. He smiled as they followed. "They seemed nice."
Over to the cells, Shulk, Lucina, the Robins, the Corrins, Chrom, the Byleths, Rex, and Pyra are in their cells.
"Any ideas on how to get out of here?" Shulk asked.
They got their answer when a large golden hand gave the guards a punch. The golden hand disappeared when two figures came through. One of them is a young man with messy dirt-blond hair and blue eyes. He wore a blue outfit adorned seemingly with gold plating and wears leather gloves and boots, but the most recognizable extension of his wardrobe is a yellow scarf.Another is a young man who has blond hair tied in a ponytail and wore a yellow shirt with black shorts with the same colored shoes.
"Isaac, Saki, good of you to find us," Shulk said.
"Fiora sent us. She's been worried sick," Saki said.
"Now, let's get out of here," Isaac said.
A dimensional rift appeared, and the warriors all go through. The Team Shadow peons guarding them regained consciousness.
"Shit, they got away," one of the Team Shadow peons said.
Over to the Pokémon Center, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon were having the Pokémon healed after that intense battle. Sora made contact with Professor Oak.
"Sora, how good to see your face, my boy," Professor Oak said with a smile.
"It's not a social call, professor," Sora said.
"Oh no? What could it be?" Professor Oak asked.
"We had a run-in with some Team Shadow chumps not too long ago, and they attacked us with Pokémon that looked way off," Sora said.
"How so?" Professor Oak asked, growing concerned.
"The thing is, the Pokémon that they sent at us all had black, white, and gray metal parts on their faces and other parts of their bodies. They called them Malefic Pokémon," Sora explained.
"Malefic Pokémon, you say?" Professor Oak asked, getting more concerned.
"Yeah. And what's more, our attacks did very little damage on them. They said that Malefic Pokémon moves can have the same super-effective damage like any other Type, but non-Malefic Pokémon attacks doesn't effect them too much, no matter what Type it is," Sora said.
"How is this possible?" Professor Oak asked.
"I don't know, but I thought you should know about this," Sora said.
"You were absolutely right to bring this matter to my attention, Sora. You'll have to watch your back out there," Professor Oak said.
"I will, professor," Sora said. He broke contact with the Pokémon professor.
Back in Pallet Town, he sighed heavily as he grew increasingly concerned.
"There are lines even Team Rocket never dared to cross, but this is getting out of hand. What are you seeking, Team Shadow?" Professor Oak asked himself. "And what do you intend to do with these Malefic Pokémon? May Heaven have mercy on us if they turn into humanity's undoing."
Sora made contact with the SMASH Tower. Iris answered it.
"Sora, what's wrong? Iris asked.
"Iris, did we get any new members of SMASH recently?" Sora asked.
"No, just everyone registered, why?" Iris asked.
"Because there are otherworldly characters here in Kalos. Thought I should give you guys a heads-up," Sora said.
"I'll let everyone know at once, Sora," Iris said.
She broke contact as Sora couldn't help but wonder what else Team Shadow had in store for them with these Malefic Pokémon. One thing is for certain. He knew he and the rest hasn't seen the last of the Malefic Pokémon.
"Team Shadow, I am not going to forgive you for this," Sora said in his thoughts.
