Chapter 10!

Something Wicked This Way Comes!

Peter took a moment to process everything Doctor Stephen Strange had said to him before he had escorted his Father and Hank back to their reality, he still needed to find Wanda. She could be anywhere in Westview, but luckily for him he had speed and time on his side. He could explore the whole town inside of the barrier of doom without even being noticed by Agnes and the soldiers, his mutant ability was his asset in this wacky sitcom town.

Time slowed down for Peter, the street remained still while he zoomed along the sidewalk. There was hardly anyone around, the once busy Maple Street was deserted. There was normally the odd neighbour tending to their gardens or chatting to their next door neighbour over the garden fence, it was just too quiet. Peter continued to search each street in the neighbourhood, he even checked inside some of the houses. Everything seemed normal, the only problem was there wasn't anyone around. He stopped in the doorway of one kitchen and allowed time to return to it's normal pace, the scent of food caught his attention. He entered the kitchen and looked inside a few of the cupboards, there was canned food and clean plates on the draining board.

Someone had been here not long ago, the coffee pot on the counter side was still warm. Leaning back against the counter he crossed his arms while he thought about the situation unfolding in front of him, he had no idea where everyone had gone. It was like they had been abducted by aliens, there was no trace of human life around these parts. His gaze soon lingered on the dining table, it was laid out with four plates. But only two plates of food had been eaten, the other two plates remained untouched.

" That's weird..." Peter muttered.

Peter approached the table and dipped his index finger into the mashed potatoes before he sucked it from his finger tip, it was still warm. He could now see steam wafting from the two untouched plates, the person who had made this food still had to be around the house. He left the kitchen and wandered through the house, everything seemed normal. There was a pile of clean folded up laundry on the coffee table, the television remote was sitting on the arm of the couch and there was an half eaten cookie on a saucer. He stopped at a wall full of photographs and touched one of the frames with his finger tips, there were family pictures in the frames. Happy smiling faces of children and their parents, holiday snaps from their travels outside of Westview. It didn't make any sense since he hadn't seen any other children around town lately, they had vanished into thin air.

The only time Peter had seen any other children in Westview was on Halloween, they had been out with their families. After that night's events they had just vanished from the town, he couldn't even remember seeing any kids on Ellis Avenue neither. Billy and Tommy were the only two kids in the town right now, he had a weird feeling that Agnes or maybe Wanda had something to do with the other kids disappearances. He hated thinking that the missing children could be trapped somewhere in Westview, he needed to find Wanda fast. He zoomed out of the house and made his way through the streets, he soon found himself where Wanda had thrown him into a haystack pile on Halloween.

The citizens of Westview were missing from their homes and now the town center, it was like a ghost town. Peter stopped in the middle of the once busy town center of Westview, it only seemed like yesterday when the whole town was bustling with Halloween antics. The stores were empty, he had no idea why since it was daylight hours. The town should be bustling with shoppers and delivery drivers unpacking their vehicles, he had so many unanswered questions right now. Running his fingers through his hair he looked over his shoulder when he heard approaching footsteps, but it wasn't long until a familiar voice soon caught his attention. It took him a moment to spot two familiar kids hurrying towards him, it was Billy and Tommy.

" Uncle P!" Tommy yelled.

" Holy shit..." Peter smiled.

Peter opened his arms wide while he crouched to the twin's height level, he soon embraced them both and hugged them tightly in his arms. He had no idea where they had been but he was happy to see them safe and well, but there was no sign of Monica. He pulled them both away from him and smiled at them, he soon asked them about Monica.

" Where's Monica?" Peter asked.

Billy told Peter that they had been separated from Monica a few blocks from here, but Tommy soon informed him that Monica had taken the Darkhold with her. They had ran into some trouble soon after they had left Maple Street, they had seen the soldiers and the armored vehicles before they had taken shelter in one of the empty stores not far from the town center. Monica had been guiding them through the neighbourhood without any issues, they had made it into the town center before they had their encountered with Agnes.

" Monica told us to run!" Billy said.

" We didn't want to leave her, but we had no other choice." Tommy said before he glanced over his shoulder. " Monica lead Agnes away from us... I'm worried about her. I thought she would have come back by now."

" Where did she go?" Peter asked.

" She was heading further into town." Billy replied while he pointed down the street. " That way! We need to help her and make sure Agnes didn't get the Darkhold!"

" Okay, listen up." Peter said.

Peter told the twins to continue looking for their Mom, he would search for Monica and the Darkhold. He told Tommy to make sure he took his Brother with him, they were going to have to stick together and work has a team. He wished them both good luck before Tommy took hold of his Brother's hand, they were both nervous about their mission to find their Mom.

" Goodbye, Unlce P." Tommy said.

" It was nice knowing you." Billy said with a slight smile." Even if you were our fake Uncle I still had fun on Halloween, I'll treasure that memory always."

" Hey, don't talk like that! You'll see me again..." Peter said, he touched Billy's shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile. " I'll catch up with you guys later, I promise."

" Piggy swear?" Tommy asked.

" Yeah, piggy swear." Peter replied.

The twins held their little fingers towards Peter, he cupped his little fingers around their own. He told them both to be careful out there, he actually feared for the twins safety. Billy looked at his Brother before he returned his gaze to Peter, he told him that he'd see him later. Tommy held his Brother's hand tightly before he zoomed him down the street with him, they were now long gone from the town square.

Peter stood up straight and checked out his surroundings, he needed to find Monica since she had the spell book. He zoomed around the town square, he checked inside a few of the stores and down some alleyways. There was no sign of Monica, he would have to venture further into the outer parts of Westview. He zoomed through the different streets until he found himself on a road he'd never visited before in this wacky town, there were trees in the distance. He looked over his shoulder and saw the words " Welcome to Westview." on a sign post.

" More like Welcome to Sitcom Town..." Peter said.

Turning his attention back along the road Peter saw an outline of a man landing not far away from him, he stepped forward when he recognized him. His clothes were familiar even though the man's back was partly facing him, but he knew that guy. He recognized the man's red coloured skin and the weird diamond in the center of his forehead, he was the guy he had called a half shucked corn. Pulling his goggles away from his eyes he smiled to himself, he couldn't believe he had finally found Vision. He cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled down the highway at him, his voice broke the silence of the once peaceful stretch of highway .

" Hey, Vizzy!" Peter yelled before he removed his cupped hands from around his mouth. " Vision, over here!"

Vision soon looked over his shoulder when he heard Peter's voice, there was a look of surprise on his face. He took a few steps forward while he kept his gaze on his replacement Brother in law, it seemed like Vision was more surprised to see him. Peter zoomed along the highway and stopped not far away from him, he wanted to keep some distance between them though in case the situation got tricky. He knew Vision didn't trust him, it had been this way since he had turned up on Wanda's doorstep.

" Pietro?" Vision asked.

" Wrong guy, dude." Peter replied.

" Of course you're not him, it makes perfect sense now..." Vision said.

" Well yeah, he's dead for a start." Peter said.

" Who are you exactly?" Vision asked.

" The name's Peter, but most people call me Pete." Peter replied before he offered Vision his hand. " Peter Maximoff, I'm not from this reality. But I'm here to help Wanda, the boys are looking for her at this very moment. I'm out here looking for a friend, but I'm glad I've found you instead."

" You sent the boys to find Wanda?!" Vision asked, there was concern in his voice. " It's far too dangerous for them to be alone in this town!"

" They'll be fine, they can take care of themselves." Peter replied.

" They're children!" Vision said.

" They're also powerful..." Peter said, he raised one of his eyebrows at him and crossed his arms before he licked his lips. " I've seen what they can do, they're tough."

" Powers?!" Vision asked.

" Oh that's right, you've been out of the loop since yesterday." Peter replied before he took a step towards him. " Things have changed in Westview, there's witches and demon rabbits in basements now. It's been chaotic, you wouldn't believe what's been going on around here."

" Believe me, I know something isn't right about this town." Vision said with a deep sigh. " Wanda has been lying to me, I'm not even sure what's real anymore..."

" Then it seems like we're on the same page, huh?" Peter asked.

" Almost..." Vision replied.

" Maybe I'm a few chapters ahead of you, but you'll catch up at some point." Peter smiled.

Peter watched Vision's gaze lower towards the ground, it seemed like he was trying figure things out for himself. Peter cleared his throat after awhile, they were wasting precious time. Peter still hadn't found Monica yet, also the Darkhold may fall into the wrong hands if they stood around doing nothing. Tucking his hands into his jacket pockets Peter looked across the field to the right of him, they were in the middle of nowhere. Vision's voice soon caught his attention, he had a favour to ask of him.

" Peter, would you allow me to try and access your data?" Vision asked, he approached him and held his hands up in surrender. " I need to know you're on my side, has you know things have become quite complicated."

" Access my data? That sounds dirty if you ask me..." Peter replied, he looked confused. " How do you plan to access my data? You can trust me, I'm one of the good guys."

" Then prove it to me, Peter." Vision said.

Vision reached his hands towards Peter's temples, he soon wiggled his fingers at him like he was asking him for permission to do something. He then asked Peter if he could touch his temples and access his data, he could learn everything that Peter had experienced in the last twenty-four hours if he allowed him to try and access his mind. He informed Peter than he had powers of his own, he promised not to hurt him. Vision hadn't tried this before, he had only fritz Darcy's mind to it's own normality at the circus. He didn't plan on telling Peter that this would be his first time trying out this new method, he needed to know everything fast.

" Wait, are you a telepath?" Peter asked.

" It's hard to explain, but please allow me to access your data... your memories." Vision replied, his gaze lingered on Peter. " No harm will come to you, I won't allow it."

" Okay, just don't mess up my hair." Peter said.

" Oh heavens forbidden I'd do such a thing!" Vision said in a humorous tone. " Now remain still and relax your mind, this won't hurt. Although it did seem to panic one of my old work colleagues when I did it to him, but it was painless all the same... I think."

" Thanks for the reassurance..." Peter said.

" You're welcome." Vision said.

Peter had found Vision's request odd but he was okay with it, it wasn't the first time he'd allowed someone to take a peep inside of his mind. The Professor had done it more than once in his reality, but sometimes Charles ended up with a headache due to the speed of his thoughts. Vision gently pressed his finger tips against Peter's temples, he closed his eyes and allowed his mind to relax. A few minutes had passed and Peter was getting impatient, he opened one of his eyes and broke the silence between them.

" Do you see anything yet?" Peter asked.

" No, not yet." Vision replied with a sigh. " Your mind is quite unusual, there's so many voices. Is it normal for a person's mind to be like a busy highway? It's quite peculiar..."

" It's weird when you say it that way, but it's normal to me." Peter said.

Vision told Peter to relax yet again, he needed complete silence. Peter closed his eye and cleared his throat before he exhaled, but it wasn't long until he felt a weird energy flowing through his body. It was a stinging sensation, he could hear muffled voices and music. Imagines flashed in front of his eyes, he could see friends and family. Forgotten memories from his childhood whizzed through his mind, the memories kept flowing. It felt like his mind was inside a blender, he couldn't take it anymore. A grunt escape his lips, he could feel a sharp pain travelling down the back of his head. He flinched and clinched his fists tightly, he needed Vision to get out of his head.

" Stop it!" Peter yelled.

" Give me one more second..." Vision said.

" I SAID STOP IT!" Peter yelled.

Vision gasped when Peter opened his eyes, the expression on Vision's face was thoughtful. He removed his fingers from Peter's temples and rested his hands on his companion's shoulders, he told his acquaintance to take a couple of deep breathes. Peter bent forward slightly while he rested his hand on his stomach, his mind was still spinning. The pain soon began to fade and he managed to stand up straight, he planned never to allow Vision inside of his head ever again.

" What the hell was that?!" Peter asked before he looked at Vision. " What did you do? It hurt, dude!"

" I accessed your memories, but I saw more than I needed." Vision replied, he speaking tone was gentle. " You've done so much good in your reality, the amount of lives you've saved is remarkable."

" You saw my memories?" Peter asked.

" Yes, but some of your memories are questionable." Vision replied, he removed his hands from Peter's shoulders and smiled at him. " You're a peculiar man, yet fascinating at the same time..."

" My Father says that a lot too, the peculiar part." Peter said.

" Yes, I heard his voice inside of your head." Vision said, he stepped away from him and looked down the highway. " You really are here to help my family. You've travelled through time and space to be here. Thank you, Peter. You've sacrificed losing your own reality to stay in Westview to help Wanda, I trust you completely."

" You're welcome, this time." Peter said.

" A joke?" Vision asked before he made eye contract with him. " How delightful, I understood your humour this time."

" I've got more jokes if you wanna hear them." Peter said.

" Please don't..." Vision said.

Peter gave Vision one of his dorky smiles before he looked over his shoulder, he swore he had heard Billy's voice inside of his head for a brief second. Vision walked passed him and stopped him the middle of the road, he told Peter that something didn't feel right. The sky above them began to change, the once white clouds were turning red. The magical barrier shielding the town was making it's presence known. The atmosphere felt heavy, there was something bad brewing over the town of Westview. Peter had no idea what was happening, but he knew it had something to do with Wanda Maximoff.
