Episode 532: To Catch a Pokémon Smuggler
Shortly after making contact with the SMASH Tower, Sora and the others picked up the Pokémon, but the Digimon were still injured from the last battle.
"It still hurts?" Bonnie asked.
"A little," Agumon said. "Ouch!"
"Meowth wasn't kidding when he said ouch earlier from that Ursaring," Gomamon said.
"I knew they mean business, but this is over the line," Veemon said.
"I agree," Terra said. "There is no forgiveness for their actions."
"They don't deserve any forgiveness from me; especially after everything they've done," Aqua said.
"Those Malefic Pokémon. This is something I was not expecting at all," Sora said. "It's because of those guys Pikachu, Angel, and the other Pokémon are hurt bad."
"At least we had some help, Sora," Kairi assured her boyfriend.
"Yeah, we did," Sora said.
The figure watching them took the shape of a white wolf with crimson markings across her body, a tail shaped like a calligraphy brush and aDivine Instrumentfloating above her back. She continued to watch them.
Meanwhile, in Japan of an alternate world, a gravestone read "Arisato Minato" as a couple of men started to dig up the grave. Just then, a graveyard security guard comes to the scene and he investigates the disturbance. He spots the intruders.
"Hey! What are you doing there?!" The security guard exclaimed, flashing a flashlight. One of the men, took out a gun and fired at the security guard, killing him. They unearthed an urn.
"This is it! Let's go, let's go!" One of the men said. They went through a dimensional rift. They brought the urn to Xande who was waiting for their return. "We have it, sir."
"Excellent. I have no further use for you," Xande said, turning the men into mud. It turns out that they were mudmen. The mudmen then dried up and turned to dust. He laughed evilly. "The resurrection process shall proceed." He began to chant an ancient spell that is said to revive the dead. He spoke in an old language many could not understand. "Let what is dead, rise again! Escape the darkness and see the light! From Ash to bone to blood and flesh, breathe the air of life once more! Come to life now, Minato Arisato!" The wizard casts the spell on the urn. The dust inside began to spill out as the dust formed into a skeleton. The skeleton then started to regain organs, and muscles. He screamed in agony as his flesh was slowly forming around his body. His screams continued as he is now whole once more. He has dark blue hair and grayish eyes. He felt the cold floor on his naked body.
"Where am I?" The young man asked. "What's going on? And why am I naked?"
"You were dead. And I was the one who brought you back to life. And you are no longer in the world you know," Xande explained. He snapped his fingers as other wizards began to dress him, making him wear a dark brown cloak. Mateus walked in the room.
"I see the resurrection was successful, Xande," Matues said.
"Yes, my lord," Xande answered.
"I don't even know you, but I already don't like it here!" Minato said.
"I suppose not. I can see he won't be easy to break," Mateus said. "But that will be up to me, later." He teleports Minato out of sight. Not one of them scensed Cosmea being present with them.
Back in Kalos, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon spent the night in the Pokémon Center until the next morning.
They took their leave of the Pokémon Center and walked down a road to reach Cyllage City. Sora and Pikachu suddenly made a stop. The rest of the group stopped when he did.
"You hear something?" Sora asked.
"Hear what?" Ventus asked.
"Listen," Sora said. The rest of the group listened, but they heard nothing.
"I don't hear anything, Sora," Riku said.
"Maybe you were just hearing things," Naminé said.
"Sora's probably on edge ever since what happened yesterday. And who could blame him? We all are," Terra said.
"Yeah, I am, but I definitely heard something. It sounded like an engine on a car," Sora said.
"Come to think of it, I think I do hear it," Meowth said.
They listened as the sound of the engine grew louder and louder with each passing second. A small jeep with an overweight man, driving in the car with a Diggersby, riding in the passengers seat. The group jumped out of the way before he could run them over.
"Hey! Where did you learn to drive, the monster truck show?!" Sora shouted.
"You could have killed someone here!" Karen added.
"What is your problem?!" Kairi added.
Just then, Officer Jenny drove by on a motorcycle with a Manectric riding on the sidecar.
"Stop in the name of the law!" Officer Jenny ordered.
"As if I'll do whatever you say!" The man countered. He laughed.
"Something tells me that guy's a wanted criminal!" Clemont said.
"Sounds serious! Let's go!" Sora said.
Everyone agreed as they ran to follow Officer Jenny and her Manectric.
"Wait up!" Clemont called out as he slowly ran due to his backpack.
"Clemont, you are so slow!" Bonnie said.
Back to the chase, the man turned to Diggersby.
"Okay, Diggersby, use Mud Shot!" The man ordered. Diggersby unbuckled and fired Mud Shot at the pursuing policewoman. One of the clumps of mud struck the tree, causing it to tip. It fell as Officer Jenny is forced to make a stop. "See ya later!" He laughed. Officer Jenny growled in frustration as her fugitive got away. A cage fell from the back. "Crap! My precious merchandise! We'll have to come back for it later!"
The group made their way to the cage where it fell.
"I can't keep up," Clemont panted.
"Clemont, get a grip," Bonnie said.
"Nenne," Dedenne said.
"You should carry less stuff in that backpack of yours," Riku suggested.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"You'll never know what will come in handy in my backpack, Riku," Clemont panted. Eevee turned and saw something move out of the cage.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"What's up, Eevee?" Riku asked his partner. He got his answer when a Scatterbug was crawling out of the cage it was just in. "Guys, look at this!"
"What is it, Riku?" Naminé asked. Everyone saw the Scatterbug.
"It's a Scatterbug," Aqua said.
"How did she get here?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"This Scatterbug must have been what that guy was driving off with," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Scatterbug vibrates her body and sprinkles black powder in order to scare off the group.
"She's trying to scare us off," Meowth said.
"You don't have to be scared of us," Kairi said kindly. Scatterbug fell forward. "Scatterbug, oh no!"
"We gotta get her to a Pokémon Center, and fast," Gatomon said.
"Isn't there a Pokémon Center around here?" Ventus asked. Clemont checked out a map.
"There's one close to here. We can take her there!" Clemont said.
"Right, let's go!" Sora said.
Kairi picked up Scatterbug and then the group started to run for the Pokémon Center to have Scatterbug healed.
Meanwhile, Officer Jenny looked around for the man she was pursuing earlier, and growled in anger having to lose him.
"That bastard got away again, but he won't slip by my fingers the next time he hits my radar," Officer Jenny said.
The group arrived to the Pokémon Center with the injured Scatterbug.
"Nurse Joy, please help Scatterbug," Kairi said.
"Of course," Nurse Joy said. She turned to her Wigglytuff. "Will you see to it that Scatterbug receives the best care?"
"Wigglytuff," the Wigglytuff responded. It takes Scatterbug to the stretcher and rolls her in towards the back to have Scatterbug healed.
"Don't worry about a thing. Your Scatterbug will be just fine," Nurse Joy said.
"That's a relief," Sora said.
"And your Scatterbug looks like it doesn't belong to this area," Nurse Joy said.
"Huh? You can tell just by looking?" Sora asked.
"Yes, have a look," Nurse Joy said, displaying Vivillon on the screen, but all have different colored patterns.
"Wow, Vivillon," Ventus said.
"So pretty," Bonnie said.
"That's right, I forgot that's Scatterbug evolved into after becoming Spewpa. And of I remember right, Vivillon all have different patterns, depending on where they all come from," Aqua said.
"That's exactly right," Nurse Joy said, smiling. "So in a way, Scatterbug and Spewpa have some slight differences, too."
"So awesome," Bonnie said.
"I would like to know on how you how you came across that Scatterbug in the first place," Nurse Joy said.
"It's like this," Sora started. A rope wrapped around Sora's wrist. "Hey!"
"I've got you now!" Officer Jenny declared. "Don't make any sudden movements or you'll be in even more trouble than you already are!"
"What's the gag?!" Sora exclaimed.
"I know who you are! If you have a Scatterbug in your possession, then you must work for Doland, the Pokémon Smuggler!" Officer Jenny said. Manectric growled.
"I don't know who this guy is, but I don't work for anybody!" Sora said. Agumon bites through the rope, making both Sora and Officer Jenny fall over.
"I'm placing you under arrest, not only for swiping that Scatterbug, but for assault as well!" Officer Jenny said.
"You will have to try!" Agumon said. Agumon started to Digivolve. Clemont and Bonnie were surprised to see Agumon's Digivolution. "Agumon Digivolve to... Greymon!" He stomped on the ground and growled at the policewoman and Manectric. The discharge Pokémon growled as well, showing no fear of the dinosaur Digimon.
"What did Agumon just do?" Clemont asked.
"Agumon Digivolved. He's Greymon now," Ventus said.
"The only way you're getting to Sora is through me!" Greymon snarled. "And I am not going to make it easy for you!"
"Greymon, wait! Don't attack!" Sora said. "Look, I don't know who you think I'm working for, but we can say we have Scatterbug in here, and we brought her here to be healed!"
"A likely story!" Officer Jenny said, not buying it.
"It's true," Riku said. "We found Scatterbug in a cage, chasing after you, because we wanted to help out, and then we brought Scatterbug here to be healed, and Scatterbug's being treated right now."
"What? You're not working for Doland?" Officer Jenny asked, surprised.
"That's what I've been saying!" Sora said.
"Oh," Officer Jenny said, feeling embarrassed and ashamed of her actions. "I am so sorry. I've been known to jump to conclusions. And then, I mess things up. The chief will end up chewing me out for it again." Greymon then reverts back to Agumon as Wigglytuff came back out with Scatterbug on the stretcher.
"Scatterbug, you're okay. Thank goodness," Kairi said.
Officer Jenny then explained to the group about Doland and his Diggersby.
"Pokémon Smuggler? I heard of Pokémon hunters, but never of a Pokémon Smuggler," Sora said.
"That's a new one on me, too," Riku said.
"Pokémon Smugglers are Pokémon poachers who poach Pokémon out in the wild and then sells them online worldwide to scrupulous Pokémon Collectors. Doland specializes with Vivillon. He's been catching Scatterbug and Spewpa in different areas in the Kalos region, and then sells them online after they evolve into Vivillon," Officer Jenny explained.
"Unforgivable," Aqua said, disgusted.
"He must be keeping them at his hideout," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"All those poor Scatterbug and Spewpa," Naminé said.
"If I Digivolved in front of that guy, he wouldn't stand a chance," Agumon said.
"You're not going to fry him into a crisp like you almost did to Officer Jenny, are you?" Terra asked.
"That's going to be on him," Agumon said.
"Okay, we'll need him alive, though," Meowth said.
"He's right, Agumon. The last thing we need is for you to go fireball happy," Biyomon said.
"Hey, what's up with Scatterbug?" Gabumon asked. Everyone turned to Scatterbug as she ran around the table. Scatterbug then started to evolve. Scatterbug became a Spewpa.
"I get it. Scatterbug was getting ready to evolve," Clemont said.
"I've never seen a Pokémon evolve right in front of my eyes!" Bonnie said.
"It won't be long before Spewpa evolves into a Vivillon," Riku said.
"And what are we gonna do if that Doland guy comes in here? He'll try to snatch Spewpa just like before," Armadillomon said.
"I'm with him, he will," Tentomon said.
"There's no way he'll even know where to look," Meowth said. He spotted something in Spewpa's fur. "Huh? What's that?"
"What's what?" Clemont asked.
"Look there," Meowth said, pointing to the spot on Spewpa's bottom. Clemont took out a magnifying glass and spots it.
"Hm, it looks like some sort of transmitter," Clemont deduced.
"I get it. Doland must have placed that on it, just so he could keep track of his merchandise just in case they escaped," Officer Jenny said.
"What was that about not being able to find her?" Karen asked.
"Hey, I was wrong, okay?" Meowth asked.
"So, we're going to have some trouble on our hands," Ventus said.
"Even if we nab him here, he won't cooperate with us willingly," Kairi said.
"She's right. There's still the other Scatterbug and Spewpa that we need to free," Karen said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pika, Pi," Blossom said. Spewpa gave a worried look, catching Kairi's notice.
"Don't worry, we won't let that awful man nab you again," Kairi said. "And I promise we'll free the others."
"How will we get to them so easily?" Gomamon asked.
"You remember that we have an inventor in the house?" Palmon asked. Clemont adjusted his glasses.
"The future is now, thanks to science! Clemomtic Gear on!" Clemont said proudly.
"Here we go again," Riku said, shaking his head.
"Be nice, Riku," Naminé told her boyfriend.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"I have the perfect invention for this special occasion," Clemont proudly said. He presents his tracking systems "I proudly present the Omnidirectional Super Sensitive Tracking Dish!"
"The first thing we do is place the transmitter chip in this section here; that way, we can determine the chip's origins, no matter where it goes!" Clemont said.
"Your inventions getting more and more amazing," Karen said.
"I hope you're not suggesting that we use Spewpa as bait, because I feel uncomfortable about doing this," Kairi said.
"And Scatterbug evolved into a Spewpa," Bonnie added.
"Maybe, but when he sees the chip, it won't be long until he figures it out," Terra said.
"Pika," Thor said.
"Maybe we could use one of the other Pokémon as bait, and I ain't volunteering myself," Meowth said.
"None of us can do it, because most of us won't fit in that cage," Wormmon said.
"Can't be Dedenne, because he's too teeny," Patamon said.
"Then, I know which one," Sora said. He took out Chespin's Pokéball and opened it. Chespin came right out. Meowth got Chespin dressed up like a Spewpa. "You're just the perfect size, Chespin, I mean, Spewpa."
"Chespin, Chespin," Chespin said.
"Now, to set the bait we know that rat won't resist," Gatmon said.
Unknown to anyone, a Vivillon with a Pokéball pattern is flying by. It spots the group leaving the Pokémon Center. It sees two Spewpa with the group. Vivillon flew behind the group to follow them. They make it to the cage, and place the fake Spewpa in the cage, and waited.
"Kudos on the disguise idea, Meowth," Karen said.
"Well, if there's one thing I learned from Team Rocket, it's to have a convincing disguise," Meowth said.
"And who will be convinced of a midget with unnatural facial hair?" Sora asked. Meowth was about to retort when Kairi shushed them.
"Quiet, both of you. I hear something," Kairi said.
The engine grew louder as Doland and his Diggersby came right to the scene. He took out a tablet and used it to track the signal.
"It's gotta be around here somewhere," Doland said. He found the decoy in the cage. "There you are. Looks like you evolved into a Spewpa while I was gone."
"Ches," Chespin whispered.
"Hm, you do look and sound strange. Maybe, you'll evolve into a huge and profitable Vivillon," Doland said, closing the cage, and got into the driver's seat. He turned on the engine and began driving.
"The fishy took the bait," Gomamon said.
"And not a moment too soon," Clemont said, tuning in his tracker. The Vivillon came out of its hiding place and followed the group. The wolf-like creature also followed the group as well. Doland drove into the woods.
"Yes, we're homing right in!" Meowth said.
"He just drove into that forest," Clemont said.
"We can't lose that signal," Officer Jenny said.
"Don't worry. As long as the chip remains active," Clemont said as the device began to short out. "Oh no!"
"What's wrong?" Officer Jenny asked.
"I don't know! It was working perfectly!" Clemont said as the sparks were getting stronger and reckless.
"Hit the dirt!" Sora shouted. He, Kairi, Karen, Pikachu, Angel, Blossom, Bonnie, and Dedenne lands on the left as Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Meowth, and the other Pikachu lands the right. Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill got caught in the explosion as the results of the explosion alters each of their hairdos.
"If only I acted quickly," Riku said.
"I'll just follow him," Officer Jenny said. "Thank you for all your help."
"Hey, how about we search the skies?" Hawkmon suggested.
"Good idea," Sora said. He took out Fletchling's Pokéball and threw it. Fletchling came right out. "Okay, Fletchling, search for a vehicle, and come right back!" Fletchling flew with the flying Digimon following him as well. They spotted the jeep driving on the side of the mountain. They flyers flew right back to the group.
"We've spotted him!" Patamon said.
"He's driving up that mountain!" Hawkmon said.
"Show us where!" Sora said.
With that said, the group followed the flyers to the mountain trail.
"Doland must be nearby," Clemont said.
"That was great, Fletchling. Come on back," Sora said, calling back Fletchling. They made the rest of the way, and they eventually found it.
"This has got to be it," Naminé said.
"It's weird that nobody's guarding the entrance," Agumon said.
"We'll have to storm the place," Armadillomon suggested.
"Hold on. We need to know where he's keeping the Pokémon before we do anything," Sora said.
"Agreed," Riku said. He took out a Pokéball and opened it. "Come out, Froakie." Riku's Froakie swirls around him upon entry.
"Good thinking, Riku," Sora said. He let out his own Froakie. "Okay, hop on over to see where the Scatterbug and Spewpa are."
"And don't be seen," Sora said.
Both Froakie nodded as they hopped over to the shed. They saw no signs of Doland, but they did see the Scatterbug and Spewpa inside. They signaled that the coast is clear.
"We're good," Riku said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon snuck inside as the Pokéball pattern Vivillon caught up with the group. The Digimon stayed and watched.
As they entered Doland's grounds, they looked around for any signs of Doland, Diggersby, Officer Jenny, Manectric, the Scatterbug, or Spewpa. The Spewpa in Kairi's arms felt nervous, and Kairi noticed right away.
"What's wrong?" Kairi asked. A net underneath Karen, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Eevee Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair go up.
"Pikachu! Guys!" Sora exclaimed.
"Eevee! Naminé!" Riku also exclaimed.
"Well, well, I missed three kids, twelve other creatures, and a Spewpa," Doland said.
"You're Doland!" Sora said.
"Look at that. Heard of me, huh?" Doland asked.
"I heard that you're nothing but a greedy coward," Sora said.
"I'd watch my mouth if I was you, kid! And nobody tricks me and gets away with it!" Doland said. "I know you're responsible for this!" He holds up the cage with Chespin still inside, and the disguise busted.
"Crap," Sora said.
"No," Kairi added.
"It was a rough ride, and the disguise fell off. I think I'll get even with you by selling this one, too," Doland said, but Sora called Chespin back inside the Pokéball.
"You may want to rethink your payback plan," Sora said.
"You got some mouth on you!" Doland said, taking out a Pokéball. "Hand over that Spewpa!"
"Make us!" Kairi said.
"I intend to do that anyway," Doland said, throwing the Pokéball. "Diggersby! Let's go!" His Pokéball opened and his Diggersby entered the battle, flexing its arm-like ears. Both Froakie stood in front of their trainers.
"How about we take this greedy tub of grease together, Sora," Riku said.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Sora said.
"Two against one isn't a fair match; but I don't do fair," Doland said.
"You're no match for them!" Veemon said.
"We'll see about that! Diggersby! Mud Shot!" Doland ordered. Diggersby fired Mud Shot at the two bubble frog Pokémon.
"Dodge!" Sora and Riku called out. Both Froakie dodged the mud attack.
"Use Bubble!" Sora ordered.
"Use Water Pulse!" Riku ordered.
Both Froakie launched their attacks at the large hare Pokémon.
"What?! Use Dig!" Doland ordered. Diggersby dug into the ground to get the upper hand on the two of them.
"Froakie! Use Water Pulse down that hole!" Sora ordered.
"You use Water Pulse, as well!" Riku ordered. Both Froakie hurled Water Pulse down the hole. Underground, water rushes in, and it forces Diggersby right out.
"Why you little! Use Hammer Arm!" Doland ordered. Diggersby came at the two Froakie. Riku's Froakie was struck hard.
"Use Quick Attack in the gut!" Sora ordered. Sora's Froakie lands a Quick Attack right in the digging Pokémon's stomach. Kairi decided to join right in. She was about to send out Pumpkaboo since she's a Grass Type, and Hammer Arm will have zero effect on her since being a Ghost Type Pokémon. Spewpa stepped in instead.
"Huh? Spewpa?" Kairi asked. Spewpa started to evolve right in front of everyone. The Spewpa was now a Vivillon with purple wings. "She's a Vivillon now."
"Gorgeous! Vivillon's beauty is what makes them real valuable! Scatterbug and Spewpa! They're such wonderful moneymakers!" Doland said, chuckling. Kairi had enough of him.
"Is that all they are to you? Just a way to get rich? You're not only greedy, but you're horrible as well," Kairi said. "Nothing about you is forgivable!"
"Save it for someone who cares! Diggersby! Get that Vivillon now!" Doland ordered. Diggersby jumped to nab the purple-winged Vivillon, but a gust of wind blows out of nowhere.
"Hey, what was that?" Agumon asked. The Pokéball pattern Vivillon flew in to the rescue.
"Look at that!" Karen said.
"Another Vivillon, but it's different from the one we're looking at now!" Bonnie said.
"A Vivillon with a pattern that differs from any other Vivillon I ever came across! That's gotta get me a much bigger price! Diggersby! Get that other Vivillon as well!" Doland ordered. Diggersby attempted to jump at the Pokéball pattern Vivillon, but it used Stun Spore to paralyze Diggersby.
"He used Stun Spore!" Kairi said. The Pokéball pattern Vivillon then fired Psybeam at Diggersby. She looked at the Elegant Vivillon and nodded. Kairi nodded back. "Vivillon! Use Gust!" The Elegant Vivillon uses Gust on Diggersby, resulting in a knockout. Doland growled in anger.
"I'll try have to get those two myself!" Doland said, taking out a net. Agumon charged at him with a full force of his body.
"Claw Attack!" Agumon shouted as he gave Doland a punch with his claw in a fist. Agumon then jumped in the air and Digivolved. "Agumon Digivolve to... Greymon!" Doland was about to get back up when Greymon gave him a roar so loud, it scared away every Pokémon that were in miles. Even Doland was too scared to move. What he saw as a puny dinosaur turned into a much bigger dinosaur, and he was afraid that he was going to be eaten.
"Don't eat me!" Doland said, literally shivering with fright. "I won't steal Pokémon anymore! I'll be good, I'll be good! Just please don't eat me!"
"I wouldn't eat you. First of all, I don't know where you've been; and second, you're not worth indigestion," Greymon said. Officer Jenny arrived as Doland ran up to her and got on his knees.
"Arrest me if you wanna! You can even throw away the key, just keep that monster away from me!" Doland said.
"It will be my pleasure," Officer Jenny said.
The group got the Scatterbug and Spewpa out of the cages they were in.
"You're all free to go. And you don't have to worry about Doland hunting you down anymore," Sora said.
The Scatterbug and Spewpa were happy to hear it and they all started to evolve at the same exact time. The Vivillon all had different colored patterns on their wings. All of the newly evolved Vivillon started to fly off into the sunset as the Scatterbug and other Spewpa all went into the forest to thrive. Only the two Vivillon remained with them.
"Aren't you gonna join up with your friends?" Kairi asked. Both Vivillon shook their heads and each one of them flew to the couple. The Pokéball pattern Vivillon has shown real interest in Sora.
"You wanna hang with us?" Sora asked. The two Vivillon nodded.
"It seems that way to me," Officer Jenny said. "I know you're going to take good care of them."
With that said, Sora and Kairi each took out a Pokéball and they flowed inside. Stars swirls around the Pokéballs to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep the Pokéball pattern Vivillon. He chose to keep his newest Pokémon by exchanging Bunnelby.
"Yay! You each have your own Vivillon!" Bonnie said.
"Sora is so lucky since he got a rare patterned Vivillon," Terra said.
Officer Jenny took her prisoner with her to book him as the group returned to the Pokémon Center to rest for the night. And the journey shall continue at sun's first light.
