Episode 539: Kairi vs Serena
A short tune has passed since being controlled by Malamar. Bentley managed to get Vectorman out of the programming Malamar has put him through. Officer Jenny returned to her post, and she decided to investigate Malamar's goals.
"I can't believe that happened to us," Biyomon said.
"I'm getting a headache just thinking about it," Hawkmon said.
"You and me both," Ken said.
"At least it's over," Shinjiro said.
"For now," Mitsuru said.
"She's right. That Malamar is sure to make his move again, so we will have to watch our step from this day forward," Gatomon said.
They all agreed since they will never know when Malamar was going to strike again.
Over to Sora, he held Inkay in his hands.
"That was really brave you, Inkay. Thanks," Sora said.
"Inkay," Inkay said.
"Sora, you do realize Inkay can evolve into Malamar, don't you?" Meowth asked, feeling creeped out.
"I know, but I don't hate Inkay. I should be grateful for its help," Sora said.
"Well, okay, I admit he helped us out; I don't want to have any risks when he takes control over you like Malamar did," Meowth said. Inkay spat ink in Meowth's face. "Hey, what gives?!"
"Inkay, Inkay, Inkay!" Inkay said.
"I'm going to guess Inkay said you deserved that, right?" Sora asked.
"He sure did," Meowth confirmed. "For comparing him with Malamar." Inkay just huffed. "If anybody needs me, I'll be washing this ink off my face." Sora looked right at Kairi as she is brushing Vulpix's fur. He felt incredibly guilty about what he was made to do, so he slowly approached her.
"Kairi," Sora said. She turned to her boyfriend. "I'm sorry about, well, you know." Kairi knew what he was talking about. She embraced Sora in her arms.
"You have nothing to be sorry about, Sora," Kairi assured her boyfriend. "It wasn't your fault. You weren't in control of your own actions. I was afraid that I was going to lose you."
"I would never hurt you, Kairi. What he made me do is unforgivable," Sora said. "But, I would like to say thanks for not giving up on me."
"I would never give up on you, Sora. I promise I won't," Kairi said. That made Sora smile as he and Kairi kissed each other on the lips. They had so much passion in their kiss as Sora held her close.
The female members of SEES, the Investigation Team, and the Phantom Thieves of Hearts were watching the kiss between them as they swooned at the romance taking place.
After a half hour, a series of introductions and explanations came their way as Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and the Digimon showed their inter dimensional friends the SMASH Tower.
"And here we are. The SMASH Tower," Sora said.
"Wow, it's awesome up here," Scaler said.
"Since we have a common goal, Sora thought it was a good idea for you to join up," Terra said.
"You sure?" Lucina asked.
"I think-a we are," Mario said. "There's-a always room-a for one-a more," Mario said.
"We'll be more than happy to join up," Yooka said.
With that said, Lucina, Shulk, Fiora, Rex, Pyra, Mythra, Simon, Spark, Yooka, Laylee, Radical, Aero, Isaac, Saki, the Robins, the Corrins, the Byleaths, Chrom, Ty, Bonk, Amaterasu, Chibiterasu, Frogger, Higgins, T'ai, Joe, Mac, Viewtiful Joe, Scaler, Glover, Billy, Blinx, Roy, Ike, Vexx, Strider, Firebrand, Ristar, Vectorman, Shazza, Pulseman, the Investigation Team, and the Phantom Thieves of Hearts officially joined SMASH. SEES decided to continue to accompany Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair and the Digimon for a bit longer. Shinjiro had to meet up with Kotone in Cyllage City.
Clemont and Bonnie were waiting for their friends to come back as Inkay was playing with Dedenne. Everyone came on back.
"Sora, Kairi! You're back!" Clemont said.
"Where are everybody else?" Bonnie asked.
"We had a talk, and they decided to join up with SMASH," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"What about them?" Clemont asked.
"We decided to hang with you guys longer," Minato said.
"But, they said the offer's still up," Junpei said.
"We can discuss that later," Sora said. He looked at Inkay. "Anyway, Inkay. We should be going now. So, take care." The group were about to take off when Inkay floats in front of them. "Inkay?"
"Kay, kay, Inkay, kay," Inkay said.
"Inkay said he wants to join you," Meowth translated.
"Seriously?" Shinjiro asked.
"Why?" Patamon asked.
"Because Sora was willing to give him a chance after Meowth wouldn't, because of what he evolves into," Kairi said. "It wouldn't be right to blame one kind of Pokémon because of the actions of one."
"Ink, Inkay, Ink," Inkay said.
"Hey, I ain't a racist!" Meowth exclaimed. Everyone all laughed.
"If you wanna join my team, then a Pokémon who bravely fought against that Malamar is more than welcome to join," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it up in the air. Inkay stretched his tentacle and pressed the button. Inkay flowed inside. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Inkay with him. He chose to keep Inkay in exchange for Vivillon. "Welcome aboard, Inkay."
A few days came and went as Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, the Digimon, and SEES all arrived to the Pokémon Center to spot a familiar face.
"Sora!" Serena said, feeling her heart flutter.
"Hey, Serena. How have you been?" Sora asked.
"I'm doing good. I thought I would meet up with you here," Serena said.
"You know her, Sora?" Minato asked.
"Yeah. I knew her when we were little kids," Sora said.
"Um, Sora, who are they?" Serena asked.
"Right, they're new to you. Meet Minato Arisato, Aigis, Mitsuru Kirijo, Akihiko Sanadas, Shinjiro Aragaki, Yukari Takeba, Junpei Iori, Fuuka Yamagishi, Ken Amanda, Metis, and Koromaru. Guys, meet Serena," Sora introduced.
"Good to meet you, Serena," Minato said with a smile.
"You too, Minato," Serena said, smiling back. Serena looked right Kairi and her expression quickly changed. "Oh great, she's here," Serena said under her breath.
Sora explained to SEES about how he and Serena know each other. Yukari and Fuuka could tell that Serena has a thing for Sora, but the only thing was, Sora has his eyes on Kairi.
"Looks like we have a rivalry on our hands," Yukari whispered to Fuuka.
"Both girls has it bad for the same boy," Fuuka whispered back.
Both of the girls could see lightning emitting from the both of them.
Sora decided to train his new Inkay for battle.
"Use Tackle!" Sora ordered. Inkay darts right at Tentomon, but he dodges the attack. "Use Peck!" Inkay comes at Tentomon again, and lands a peck on him.
"Ouch!" Tentomon yelped. "That smarts!" Tentomon said.
"That was good, Inkay! Now use Psybeam!" Sora ordered. Inkay fired Psybeam right at Tentomon.
"Super Shocker!" Tentomon shouted, firing his attack, blocking it. The two attacks results in an explosion. Kairi and Serena were watching closely to the match between them. Serena had a basket placed on her lap, wrapped in a small handkerchief. Inkay came upside down as Tentomon kept flying.
"Very good, Inkay! You're so much stronger than I thought you were," Sora said.
"Inkay, Inkay, Inkay!" Inkay said happily.
Serena stood up with the basket in hand, and walked up to her crush.
"Here, Sora. I baked some cookies for you," Serena said, removing the handkerchief. They were all shaped like Pokémon. "I baked these just yesterday, and I thought maybe, you might try one."
"Those do look good, Serena," Sora said. Tentomon attempted to snag one.
"Don't mind if I do," Tentomon said, making Serena smack his claw.
"I baked those for Sora," Serena said. "Have as much as you like." Kairi stood up just when Sora was about to help himself.
"Sora, don't eat those!" Kairi said, smacking his hand. "You're going to spoil your appetite for lunch." Serena was gritting her teeth. Sora realized how right she is.
"You're right, Kairi. I forgot you were making lunch. It'll be such a shame to let what you made for me go to waste," Sora said. Kairi giggled, making Serena grind her teeth.
"She is really getting under my skin!" Serena said in her thoughts. Serena decided to join them for lunch as Kairi has prepared some sandwiches for the two of them.
"Here we are, Sora," Kairi said.
"Looks tasty as always, Kairi," Sora said, taking one. He smeared some mustard on the bread slice and took a bite after putting it back on. "Mmm! Your homemade mustard tastes better than the store-bought brand."
"Something my mom taught me before we left for Kalos. And I was hoping you would like it," Kairi said.
"No way these could be that great," Serena said, taking a sandwich and smeared some mustard on hers. She took a bite, and her eyes went wide opened, not denying how tasty it is. "My goodness, this tastes better than I thought."
Once the couple has finished their lunch, Serena was now prepared to serve Sora the cookies she baked.
"Great as always, Kairi," Sora said.
"Sora, you promised you were going to have a taste of my cookies once you were finished," Serena said.
"Sure thing. Let's have a taste test," Sora said, taking one shaped like a Zigzagoon. He took a bite and he smiled. "Wow, these are great."
"I'm glad you like them. I baked them just for you," Serena said, lovingly. Yukari and Fuuka were watching closely.
"Ooh, the old win the boy over with cookies trick. I've that one in some anime," Fuuka said.
"How does Kairi plan to counterattack?" Yukari asked.
"I have plenty more if you want some," Serena said.
"Thanks. But I don't think I can eat all these by myself. I think you girls should have a share in these," Sora said.
"You mean share with her?" Serena squeaked at the last word.
"I mean, didn't you say, food tastes better when you share them with others?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, I did say that," Serena remembered.
"I'll take you up on that offer, Sora," Kairi said, taking a cookie shaped like a Marill. She took a bite of the cookie. "You were right, Sora. These do taste great." Serena even took some of cookies and ate them same as the couple.
"Sora made the move instead. Lucky for Serena," Yukari said.
Sora and Kairi decided to have themselves a little outing as well as Pikachu and Angel. Serena, not wanting to be left out decided to join the couple.
"So, what do you wanna do, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"I was thinking of a movie; a romantic one at that," Kairi said. Serena's blood was boiling.
"You don't mind if I join you, too? I mean, that's if you want me to," Serena said.
"You can if you want, Serena," Kairi said. Serena smiled as she got all giddy. As the trio took a walk, they were unaware of a woman walking pass them with. Gardevoir. She wore a black trench coat and hat. She also wore a pair of sunglasses. Her Gardevoir is wearing a necklace around its neck. She walks in a bakery.
"How can I help you on this fine day?" The baker asked.
"I would like a slice of your finest chocolate cake, please. One for me, and one for my Gardevoir," the woman said, placing her order.
"Yes, ma'am," the baker replied, slicing two pieces. She presented the cake slices to both her and Gardevoir. She paid for her purchase and sat down at a table with Gardevoir.
Back to the couple and Serena, they passed a poster featuring a woman with short light brown hair that is designed in a somewhat star pattern with front bangs standing up, light blue eyes and violet eyeshadow. She wore a fairy-like white outfit with lots of gold trim. She is equipped with a white choker and white long-sleeved blazer with lapels that possess large buttons and also a small collar, the blazer finished with three petal-like ends and the sleeves have two golden lines on the cuffs. Two lacy objects on the back of her outfit resemble cloud-like wings that is likely to be connected to the blazer. She also wore a simple white shirt with two golden lines near the end of the shirt. Finishing her attire, she wears short white shorts and low high heel boots, also the color white. She carried a pink purse and she wore a gold swan-shaped necklace around her neck.
With her is a Gardevoir, its gown becomes longer and wider, resembling a bridal gown. The forearms are slightly thicker with a pointed extension above the elbow resembling sleeves. Its facial spikes are larger and now curl upwards. In contrast, its hair is now shorter and more tightly curled. There are now two horns in the center of its chest, extending to either side.
"Look at this, Sora," Serena said. "Looks like Diantha has released a new movie."
"Diantha? Who's she?" Kairi asked.
"She's the most powerful trainer in all of Kalos; the Kalos region's Champion. Not only that, but she's also a movie actress. In fact, there is a movie I have been wanting to see," Serena said. "Only if that's what you want, Sora."
"Well, it turns out this movie is oozing with romance, so it should be good to see it," Sora said. Kairi smiled as she took Sora by the hand. Serena wanted to hold his hand as well, but she had to fight it. They all arrived to the movie theater and went inside to watch the flick.
Meanwhile back the Pokémon Center, a female trainer along with her Sylveon came walking in as Bonnie eyes her. She gets all giddy.
"She's a keeper!" Bonnie said, running towards her. "Excuse me, miss?" The girl turned to Bonnie.
"Yes?" The girl asked.
"Would you please take care of my brother?" Bonnie asked the girl, confusing her. Clemont blushed as he uses his Aipom arm to grab her.
"I told you to stop this a million times!" Clemont scolded with embarrassment.
"Whoa! Think about it, won't you?" Bonnie asked.
"I take my eyes off of you for a second, and you pull this again! I told you to stop doing this a million times!" Clemont said.
"I was only trying to help you!" Bonnie said.
"Listen, you need to mind your own business from now on!" Clemont said.
"Worrying about you is my business!" Bonnie said.
"Not the kind of business I have in mind!" Clemont argued.
Inside the movie theater, Sora kept holding Kairi's hand as they watched the film. Serena sat next to her crush as she blushes up a storm.
After the movie has ended, the couples and Serena walked right out.
"Glad you recommend it to us, Serena," Kairi said. Serena didn't need to hear it from Kairi, she intended to see it with Sora alone, but with Kairi around, it was going to be extremely difficult to do so.
"Yeah, Serena. Thanks a lot," Sora said.
"You're welcome, Sora," Serena said.
As they continued on with their outing, Serena tried to outdo Kairi, but failed to do so. Kairi and Serena tried on different outfits for Sora. It didn't matter what Kairi wore because she looked good in all of them. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel made a stop my a small lake where a flock of Swanna were swimming. It was a pretty sight to see.
"It's so beautiful, isn't it?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah it is. The lake's not the only pretty thing around here," Sora said, putting his arm around Kairi's shoulders. Kairi could only blush.
Serena was still fuming over the fact Sora had his eye on Kairi and not her. She wasn't going to give up that easily.
Back to the Pokémon Center, the woman and Gardevoir from before enters inside when she was greeted by Nurse Joy.
"Miss Diantha, your Pokémon are waiting for you," Nurse Joy whispered.
"Thank you," Diantha whispered back. She arrived at the Pokémon Center earlier to drop them off to have them checked on. She returned to have them brought back from her.
Over to Junpei, he was he was looking in a magazine, featuring Diantha.
"Whoa, she's very beautiful," Junpei said. "Wonder if she could pose in a bikini."
"What I would expect from you, stupid hentai!" Yukari said.
"Don't call me that!" Junpei argued.
"That's what you are! You're the kind of guy who would wait for a girl to show some bare flesh!" Yukari argued back.
The two members of SEES started to argue, not caring who heard them. Each threw insults at one another.
"Some things never change," Shinjiro said in his thoughts.
Back to Sora, Kairi, Serena, Pikachu, and Angel they were having another stroll in the park before heading back to the Pokémon Center. Serena looked only at Kairi, holding hands with her crush. Serena then had an idea.
"Kairi," Serena said. Sora and Kairi stopped as did Pikachu and Angel did.
"What is it, Serena?" Kairi asked.
"I was wondering if I could have a battle with you. I mean, to test out my skills with you," Serena said.
"Sora, you don't mind, do you?" Kairi asked her boyfriend.
"I don't mind, Kairi," Sora said. Serena was getting giddy to have a battle against Kairi, and hopefully win Sora's heart.
"Let's make it a one-on-one match. My Fennekin against Angel," Serena said. Kairi looked right at Angel.
"You up for it, Angel?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee!" Angel replied.
Both girls got into position for battle. Angel is facing off against Fennekin. Sora wanted to see how tough Serena has gotten in a short time.
"Okay, Fennekin! Start up with Ember!" Serena ordered. Fennekin fired Ember right at Angel.
"Dodge by using Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Angel ran and successfully dodged Fennekin's Ember. "Use Headbutt!" Angel came right at Fennekin with Headbutt.
"Dodge and use Scratch!" Serena ordered. Fennekin dodges Angel's Headbutt and came at Angel with Scratch. Fennekin lands a successful hit. "Use Hidden Power!" Fennekin opens her mouth and forms a light blue and blue ball of energy in front of it. She then fires the ball at Angel.
"Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fired Swift right at Fennekin's Hidden Power, resulting in an explosion between them. Both Angel and Fennekin took some damage from the explosion. The battle was catching some attention from a gathering crowd.
"Use Scratch!" Serena ordered.
"Use Iron Tail!" Kairi ordered.
Angel and Fennekin clashed with one another. Both were easily overpowered by each other.
"Go for it, girls!" Sora called out.
"Fennekin! Hidden Power again!" Serena ordered. Fennekin unleashed Hidden Power right at Angel again, landing a hit before she could dodge.
"Angel! Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel lands a Headbutt onto the fox Pokémon.
"Use Ember!" Serena ordered. Fennekin just flinched from Angel's last Headbutt.
The crowd was cheering for the both of them as Kairi and Serena were enjoying their battle. Serena was so into the battle, she forgot about the rivalry with Kairi for Sora's heart.
"Serena's gotten good in such a short time. If only Calem was here, because he would be very proud of her," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Wow, Kairi's even better than I thought she would be. This battle is fun! I'm having fun in this match!" Serena said.
"Quick Attack!" Kairi and Serena ordered. Both Eevee and Fennekin clashed into each other with Quick Attack. Each hit has taken its tole onto one another, and they continued this dance until both began to become exhausted.
"Angel! Use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel unleashed Swift right at Fennekin.
"Fennekin! Use Ember!" Serena ordered. Fennekin unleashed Ember right at the stars. They collided with the stars, turning them from golden yellow to orange-red. Both moves struck them both. Angel and Fennekin both fell on the ground. They both got back up and panted. They both stared at each other. Fennekin held great respect for Angel, and then fell on the ground, beaten. Serena was stunned to see she has lost to Kairi. She went up to Fennekin and gently held her partner in her arms. "Are you okay, Fennekin?" Fennekin could respond with a few squeaks, and noticed how dirty her fur has gotten. "Don't worry about it, Fennekin. We can have your fur cleaned up in no time."
Serena helped Fennekin get cleaned up.
"Fennekin!" Fennekin said happily.
"There, that's better," Serena said.
"And I thought my Fennekin was a neat freak," Sora said. Serena turned to face her crush with a blush.
"Really, Sora?" Serena asked.
"Yeah. Whenever my Fennekin would get her fur dirty, she would lose her temper. But brushing her fur always calmed her down," Sora explained.
"I guess that's what we have in common," Serena said.
"Yeah. Kairi taught me how to do it shortly after getting Pikachu," Sora said. Serena puffed her cheeks a little at the mention of Kairi, but she decided to let it slide.
"Say, Sora. May I ask you a question?" Serena asked.
"Sure. What do you wanna know?" Sora asked.
"I want to know if you and Kairi are happy together?" Serena said, blushing.
"Yeah. Happy as a giddy Mime Jr. She's more than my girlfriend; she's my best friend, too," Sora said. "And I'm sure just any guy would be lucky to have you." That made Serena smile lovestruck, fighting the urge to kiss him on the lips. Her heart was beating faster than a drum.
"Yeah, he would be lucky," Serena said.
"And I have to say, you gotten pretty good in a short time. You're a great trainer," Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora. I was really inspired when you battled Viola," Serena said.
"Keep it up, and you can make it to the top one day," Sora said. Serena blushed and smiled.
Sora, Kairi, Serena, Pikachu, and Angel all returned to the Pokémon Center as Serena was happy with Sora's words replaying in her head.
"Wow, Kairi, you are so lucky to have Sora for a boyfriend. I'll back down for today, but tomorrow, it's back to business," Serena said in her thoughts.
As they returned to the Pokémon Center, Sora accidentally bumped into Diantha, making her hat and sunglasses fall off.
"Sorry about that, miss! I didn't see you there," Sora apologized.
"No, I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going," Diantha said. Sora finally looked up to her face as he gave a silent gasp when he realized who she just bumped into. This attracted some attention to the patrons as well.
"Look! It's Diantha, the Kalos region's Champion!" One trainer said.
"And that's Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova!" Another trainer said.
"Are they going to battle each other?" Another trainer asked.
"Oh boy," Sora said in a low tone.
What an unexpected meeting between two well-known trainers. Would there be a battle between the two of them, and how will it turn out? Just you wait and find out in the next chapter and more so on.
