Episode 540: Sora vs Diantha
Where we last left off, Sora, Kairi, Serena, Pikachu, and Angel had just returned from their outing, they accidentally bump into Diantha, the Kalos region's Champion.
Karen and Blossom came to see what the ruckus was about.
"What's going on here?" Karen asked, making her way through the crowd. She spots her brother, his girlfriend, and Serena in front of Diantha. "Okay, I'm caught up."
"Pikachu," Blossom said.
Not too long after, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Clemont, Bonnie, Meowth, Dedenne, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, the Digimon, and SEES went to see what the commotion as well, and they see their friends in front of Diantha.
"It's her," Junpei said.
"Diantha!" Clemont said.
"Wow, she's even prettier than I thought! She's a keeper!" Bonnie said She was about to propose to her for her brother, but Clemont grabbed his Aipom.
"Don't even think about it," Clemont scolded.
"Aw, Just trying to help you out since I can't take care of you forever, Clemont," Bonnie argued. Bonnie started to puff up her cheeks. Ventus found Bonnie cute when she pouts. Yukari caught on Ventus's crush on Bonnie and grinned.
"Looks like someone has a crush on Clemont's little sister," Yukari said in her thoughts.
Before a crowd could surround them, a young woman appeared in front of Sora and Diantha. She has dark blue hair, and cerulean eyes, and wore a pair of glasses.
"I'm sorry, Diantha is a very busy woman," the young woman said.
"You heard her!" Nurse Joy said, clapping her hands. "A Pokémon Center is a place to help a Pokémon heal and recover, not a place to crowd around like a Carvanha frenzy!" Everyone knew better than to argue with her, and went about their business.
"Thank you, Kathi Lee," Diantha said.
"It's the least I can do, Diantha," Kathi Lee said.
"We weren't expecting to run into you here of all places," Kairi said.
"It's quite okay," Diantha said. "I should have guessed this would happen." She chuckled. "I'm going to guess you're Sora Ketchum, aren't you? I watched your battles in the Unova Pokémon League; and I was very impressed. You have some potential despite being so young."
"Thanks," Sora said. Diantha turned to Kairi. "And you're Kairi as well, right? Word is spreading that you're quite a Pokémon Coordinator."
"I'm flattered to hear it from you," Kairi said.
"My name's Karen. I'm Sora's sister," Karen introducing herself. "And this is Blossom."
"Pika," Blossom said.
"I'm Ventus, but everyone just calls me Ven," Ventus said.
"I'm Terra, and this is Thor," Terra introduced.
"Pika," Thor said.
"My name's Aqua, and she's Eclair," Aqua introduced.
"Pi," Eclair said.
"My name's Clemont, and this is my little sister Bonnie," Clemont introduced as Bonnie gave a small wave.
"My name's Serena."
"I'm Minato Arisato."
"My name is Aigis."
"I'm Junpei Iori."
"The name's Shinjiro Aragaki."
"I'm Yukari Takeba."
"I'm Mitsuru Kirijo."
"I'm Metis."
"I'm Ken Amada. And this is Koromaru, my dog." Koromaru barked. Diantha giggled as she pets the dog. Koromaru accepts the petting and kindly licks her hand.
"And we're all Digimon. I'm Agumon. These are Gabumon, Veemon, Biyomon, Wormmon, Tentomon, Armadillomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Hawkmon, Patamon, and Gatomon," Agumon finished.
"And since we're all introducing ourselves. My name's Kathi Lee," the girl introduced herself.
"Kathi Lee is my manager, and my good friend. She has helped me out on such tight spots," Diantha said.
"Diantha, you're being too kind," Kathi Lee said with a blush.
"You don't mind if we went back in my hotel room, do you?" Diantha asked.
"Not a problem," the group all said.
Meanwhile in what looks like a raging inferno, Xande, Grogar, Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow all arrive at once.
"Whew, it's even hotter than the Dragon Lands," Cozy Glow said, wiping off some sweat.
"And where else will we find the Crystal of Fire?" Xande asked.
"Just saying," Cozy Glow said.
"Be on your guard, all of you. The crystal's Guardian may have already have learned of our presence by now, and must be preparing to build up their defenses," Xande said.
With that said, monstrous turtles emerged from the lava and attacked. Tirek blasted them with his magic. Chrysalis uses her shape-shifting abilities to pose as female versions of the creatures, and then fed on their love. Grogar and Cozy Glow made good of blasting some large black lizards coming towards them.
As they continued onwards, they came across what looks like a large dragonish lizard, emerging from the lava. It has a crimson red body and burning red eyes. Its breath is compressed of hot air.
"What in Equestria is that?" Tirek asked.
"A salamander. It is the crystal's guardian," Xande said. The salamander spewed fire from its mouth, but Xande easily repelled the flames by waving his hand. "Blizzaga!" The air suddenly grew cold as ice erupts from the air. The salamander is then struck. The monstrous lizard released a pained roar. "Now! Finish it while it's at its weakest!" The villains all attacked at once. The salamander is then slained by the magic if the villains. With that done, Chrysalis uses her magic to levitate the Crystal of Fire their way.
With the crystal in hand, they all bowed in respect with Xande in front of them.
"Master Mateus," Grogar, Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow greeted.
"Your imperial majesty," Xande said.
"The Crystal of Fire, I see," Mateus said.
"Yes, your majesty. Four are in our possession, and four remains," Xande said.
"You always serve me well, my dear friend," Mateus praised the wizard. "Await for further orders until I learn of the whereabouts of the next Crystal. And you four, go rejoin the others."
"Of course," Grogar said. He, Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow rejoined the Brotherhood of Darkness as they pined over the Malamar incident.
"Okay, Wily, it's bad enough for your robots to get reprogrammed by a Pokémon, but now they're in the quote, unquote 'care of the police'," Risky Boots said.
"You think I haven't been planning for such an emergency? I also put in a programming that would have allowed them to automatically reset if under the control of an outside source, or initiate a plan of escape in case of capture. In fact, that second programming should have already have kicked in, but it's strange that the first one didn't turn on," Dr. Wily said.
"And here I get stuck with mutants," Dr. Cortex said. "What are we going to do about all of those other goody-goodies? My sources tells me that our enemies have been extending a membership drive. Their numbers has gone up; way up."
"What do you mean your sources, big head? It was my sources, and you know it!" Dr. Nefarious exclaimed as he froze and the sound of a romantic soap opera comes on.
"Janice, I love you as much as there are stars in the cosmos!" A man's voice said.
"Oh, Lance!" Janice's voice is heard. "I love you as well, but our love can never be!" King K. Rool smacked him, getting him back to normal.
"That happened again, didn't it?" Dr. Nefarious asked.
"You should have that looked at, but I see no need for that," Gruntilda said with a rhyme, and chuckling.
"Why do you rhyme all the time?" Cozy Glow asked.
"It's just a habit I always had; makes me sound even more bad," Gruntilda said. Dr. Nefarious cleared his throat.
"As I was saying! They're calling their organization SMASH. And they're literally right above us; I mean really above us!" Dr. Nefarious said.
"So, what does that have to do with us?" Lord Frederick asked.
"A whole lot, because they get a cool space station, and what do we get? Should I make a list of it?" Dr. Nefarious asked.
"Oh, you're just being paranoid, Nefarious," Dr. Eggman said.
"Yeah. I would have to see it to believe it," Ripto said.
"I agree," the Sorceress said. "Those fools won't beat us again."
"All the same, Dr. Nefarious is correct to bring this matter to our attention. If the numbers of our enemies are increasing, and so shall ours; and more," Ganondorf said.
"You mean, go and bring in some additional help?" Bowser asked.
"Yes. Our armies shall increase greatly, and so will our power. The only thing we have working in our advantage is that they do not know that we know about their organization," Ganondorf said.
"So what?" Risky Boots asked.
"Yeah, so what," Gnasty Gnorc said.
"So, we will plan our next move carefully. Team Shadow and their Malefic Pokémon will have their hands full with Sora and his friends," Ganondorf said.
"Since we're running a membership drive like the good guys, just how are we going to convince them to roll with us?" Bowser asked. "For all we know, they might double cross us and try to take this world, and all the others from us."
"They will try, and they will lose. Mateus's powers may exceed my own, but their efforts will be vain," Ganondorf said.
"And what about us?" Dr. Eggman asked.
"None of you are on the same level as Mateus. You can try to overcome him, but you will fail at it," Ganondorf said. "Now, we have so much to do."
The rest of the villains all agreed with Ganondorf on this one. They couldn't afford to make any mistakes like with Malamar.
Back in Kalos, Magnet Man, Gemini Man, Dust Man, Gyro Man, Napalm Man, Plant Man, Freeze Man, Junk Man, Cloud Man, Slash Man, Shade Man, Turbo Man, Sword Man, Search Man, Grenade Man, Frost Man, Clown Man, Pirate Man, Magic Man, Hornet Man, Splash Woman, Jewel Man, Galaxy Man, Strike Man, Commando Man, Block Man, Acid Man, Bounce Man, and Impact Man were placed in cells. The scientists were interested in how they were designed. The programming Dr. Wily told them about kicked in, and they made their escape. The guards tried to stop them, but their efforts were wasted as a dimensional rift opened and they all went on through.
Back at the Pokémon Center, Sora decided to test out the profile on his S-Pod to learn what he can about Diantha.
"Okay, Diantha. That wasn't too hard," Sora said after the results came in. The profile shows Diantha and her entire team; Gardevoir is her partner as Sora found out, but the other Pokémon consists of Tyrantrum, Aurourus, Gourgeist, Hawlucha, and Goodra. Sora took out his Pokémon Box and sent his five Kalos Pokémon to Professor Oak's lab, and brought over Beartic, Excadrill, Marowak, Pidgeot, and Probopass. "There. Just gotta wait and see what hap-" he was cut off when a live coverage came on. "What the?!"
The screen shows a woman with slightly tanned skin and a pink hair with a ponytail and curls on her shoulders. Her eyes are hidden behind a pair of red-shaded sunglasses. She wore a black turtleneck that cuts off at the navel and red and black jeans with several diamond shaped cut outs at the front revealing some parts of her legs, as well as black high-heeled shoes.
"This is Malva of the Kalos Elite Four; I am with our Champion Diantha as we speak, making this important announcement to the entire region," Malva announced. "I am curious to know what could be so huge that you have to come on TV to do so."
"I am glad you asked, Malva. I wanted to share that I had an interesting encounter with Sora Ketchum, the Champion of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova Pokémon Leagues," Diantha said.
Clips of Sora's battles in the previous Pokémon Leagues were being broadcasted, from the one with Arnold in the Rock Field of the Indigo Plateau right up to the final battle with Hilbert.
"Sora Ketchum might be a kid, but he has spunk," Malva said as clips with his battles with the Battle Frontier Brains were also played, as well as the Hearthome Tag Battle Tournament. The screen switches back to Diantha and Malva on the screen.
"Just meeting with him isn't the reason I am making this broadcast," Diantha said.
"Oh no? Then what?" Malva asked.
"What I have in mind is to challenge Sora Ketchum in an exhibition battle," Diantha said. "I wish to see Sora's strength with my own eyes. And I suggest that the match takes place in two days."
"And there you have it. A battle between two titans of the world of Pokémon, and we will see who shall make it to the top of the latter in the battle in two days. This Malva, signing out!" Malva said.
"I knew I was right to get ready," Sora said.
"Pika, Pikachu," Pikachu said. Sora pets his partner on the head.
"If Diantha wants to see our strength, then we might as well show it to her," Sora said.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"Sora!" Ventus shouted as he went running up to his cousin along with Sparky. "I just saw it on TV! Diantha's challenged you to a battle!"
"I know," Sora bluntly said. "I just saw it on my S-Pod."
"Everyone else saw it on TV, too, Sora! Minato and the other members of SEES were surprised by it," Ventus said.
"Yeah," Sora said. "I only got two days, so Diantha expects me to be at my best, and I won't disappoint her."
A few hours later, Malva approached Sora from behind.
"Excuse me," Malva said, making Sora turn to see her. "Are you by chance Sora Ketchum, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova?"
"Yes," Sora said. She snapped her fingers as a cameraman came up to Malva, holding a microphone.
"In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and action!" The cameraman said, counting with his fingers. He points at her.
"Malva here, and standing with me is Sora Ketchum, whom just happens to visits us from the Kanto region, and he has just been challenged by the Kalos regional Champion, Diantha. Sora, can you please tell the good people of Kalos how you reacted when you have learned that Diantha has decided to challenge you?" Malva asked.
"Well, I have to say, I was a bit surprised by how she wanted to battle me so soon after we just met. But it's going to be an honor to be battling a Champion like Diantha," Sora said.
"So, what you're saying is, you accept the challenge from our Champion?" Malva asked.
"Yeah. She said she wants to see the strength of me and my Pokémon, so I'm going to say, she's not gonna be disappointed," Sora said.
"There are some who say that you do not stand a chance against her, so how do you respond to that?" Malva asked.
"I respond by saying: say, what you want, because I plan on showing her my all," Sora said.
"Confident even the odds are against him. This has been an outstanding interview, so this is Malva, signing off," Malva said.
"And we're clear!" The cameraman said.
"Good," Malva said. She turned to Sora. "Don't take it too hard when she whoops your butt, kid."
She took off with the cameraman. Sora was just glad it was over and done with.
Over the next couple of days, Sora trained Pikachu, Excadrill, Beartic, Marowak, Pidgeot, and Probopass for the upcoming battle. On the day of the battle, Sora trained hard, but he knew despite training so hard, he was not going to find it easy to defeat Diantha. He remembered how he battled Cynthia and lost. Cynthia and Diantha are both on the same level, and he knew that. Sitting in a VIP booth is a pale man, with muscular build, blue eyes and pointed red hair connected to his beard. He wore a black suit, lined in red with a fluffy gray collar and black dress shoes. He also wore a pair of black fingerless gloves, as well as having a Mega Ring on his left middle finger.
Aboard of the SMASH Tower, every member of SMASH were watching the event on the screen.
"Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to witness is a battle to last a century! A clash of the titans in an all-out battle, and only one of them is walking away a winner today! And now, without any further ado, allow me to present our competitors!" The announcer announced as the crowd cheered on. "Visiting all the way from Pallet Town in the Kanto region; Champion of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova Pokémon Leagues, Sora 'Kingdom Hearts' Ketchum!" The crowd cheered on as Sora entered the battlefield with Pikachu beside him. Kairi, Karen, Ventus, and Serena cheered especially hard for Sora. "And now, the favorite in this battle, we have the renowned actress known for one for 'My Sweet, Sweet Lady', and our own Champion; Diantha!" Diantha came walking into the battlefield along with Gardevoir. Both trainers walked up to one another and shook hands.
"Diantha, good luck. Don't pull any punches with me," Sora said.
"I promise you, I won't, Sora," Diantha said. She smiled right at him as they went to the opposite sides to begin their battle. The referee steps in on the battlefield.
"Both trainers have agreed to a full six-on-six battle, and substitutions are permitted anytime! There is no time limit, so now begin!" The referee announced as Diantha took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Hawlucha!" Diantha called out. A Hawlucha came out, doing a fighting stance upon entry. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up, Pidgeot!" Sora called out. Pidgeot emerged from inside.
"Diantha's first Pokémon is Hawlucha, and Sora's first Pokémon is his Pidgeot! Both may be on equal terms when it comes to the air, but Pidgeot has the upperhand in this bout! Let's see how it's going to go down!" The announcer announced. Sora took the Keystone in his hand and he lightly squeezes it.
"Let's show everyone what you can do, Pidgeot! Mega Evolution!" Sora called out. Pidgeot went through a sudden transformation. Pidgeot grew a larger body and longer, broader wings. His wingtips and tail feathers are tipped with cyan, and its cream coloring is now white. Its eyes turn magenta and its pupils turn white. Pidgeot has an even more elaborate crest on his head, with a streamer-like magenta plume extending from a mane of yellow feathers. A magenta feather projects from the front of its crest and there is a single magenta highlight on the left side.
SEES were awestruck by Pidgeot's sudden transformation.
"What was that just now?" Minato asked.
"What we just witnessed is Mega Evolution," Clemont said. "When a trainer and Pokémon both share a strong bond, the power of that bond is unleashed as Mega Evolution."
"This is the first time I'm actually seeing it with my own eyes!" Serena said.
Diantha was impressed, and she could easily see the bond Sora has with his Pokémon is powerful. She smiled.
"Wonderful, Sora. You look like you raised your Pidgeot well to make it Mega Evolve," Diantha said in her thoughts. She ordered, "Hawlucha! Begin with Swords Dance, and then Flying Press!" Hawlucha surrounds itself with swords, and its attack power increases greatly. Hawlucha then came at the bird Pokémon with Flying Press.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Mega Pidgeot easily dodges Hawlucha's Flying Press because of his enhanced speed. "Mega Pidgeot! Use Steel Wing!" Mega Pidgeot came at Hawlucha with Steel Wing, landing a hit. "Use Aerial Ace!" Mega Pidgeot came at Hawlucha with Aerial Ace.
"Use High Jump Kick!" Diantha ordered. Hawlucha came at Pidgeot with High Jump Kick. Both Pokémon took damage from that collision move.
"Pidgeot and Hawlucha have each taken a hit from one another!" The announcer announced.
"Hawlucha! Use Power-Up Punch!" Diantha ordered. Hawlucha came at Mega Pidgeot with Power-Up Punch, and lands a successful hit. Hawlucha's attack power greatly increases.
"Hawlucha's power builds up after landing that Power-Up Punch!" The announcer announced.
"That Hawlucha isn't just strong, but also fast. She must have been lots of time working on both speed and strength," Sora said in his thoughts.
"That Hawlucha's one tough Pokémon," Junpei commented.
"Power-Up Punch builds up the user's attack after each use, same as Flame Charge builds up speed. Sora knew it wasn't going to be easy with Mega Evolution on his side," Terra said.
"Okay, Mega Pidgeot! Use Aerial Ace!" Sora ordered. Mega Pidgeot charged right at Hawlucha with another Aerial Ace.
"Flying Press!" Diantha ordered. Hawlucha came at Mega Pidgeot with Flying Press. Both clashed again with the same results. Both Flying Type Pokémon took damage from one another, but Hawlucha's Flying Press came out even stronger due to Power-Up Punch being used twice in one battle.
"Hawlucha's Flying Press came out stronger because of Power-Up Punch being used before! How will Sora be able to overcome this obstacle?" The announcer asked.
"Pidgeot! Use Wing Attack!" Sora ordered.
"Power-Up Punch!" Diantha ordered.
Both Pokémon came at each other again. Mega Pidgeot manages to dodge Power-Up Punch and lands a heavy hit with Wing Attack, making the crowd cheer harder.
"Yes! Super-effective!" Ventus said.
"Super-effective?" Ken asked.
"Ven means that since Hawlucha's a Fighting Type, it's weak against Flying Type moves," Aqua explained.
"Gotta hand it to Sora, he made a really smart move right from the start," Akihiko said.
"Use Flying Press!" Diantha ordered. Hawlucha jumps to deliver another Flying Press on Mega Pidgeot.
"Here comes Hawlucha with another Flying Press! How will Sora respond?" The announcer asked.
"Mega Pidgeot! Wing Attack again!" Sora ordered. Mega Pidgeot flew right at Hawlucha, and lands a hit with Wing Attack. Hawlucha didn't come as fast as Mega Pidgeot, and it took the hit. "Aerial Ace!" Mega Pidgeot lands a hit with Aerial Ace, resulting in a knockout.
"Hawlucha is unable to battle! Mega Pidgeot wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora takes the early lead in the battle!" The announcer announced as Diantha called back Hawlucha and smiled.
"Rest, Hawlucha. You've earned it," Diantha said kindly. She smiled again. "It's been a long time since someone has taken down one of my Pokémon on the first round. She took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go forth, Tyrantrum!" Her Pokéball opened and Tyrantrum let out a loud roar upon entry.
"Diantha's second Pokémon is Tyrantrum!" The announcer announced.
"A dinosaur Pokémon?" Shinjiro asked in shock.
"Tyrantrum's a prehistoric Pokémon. Diantha's one of the few trainers to have or two of those," Karen said.
"Does Sora and Kairi have prehistoric Pokémon?" Ken asked.
"We do," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Sora calls Mega Pidgeot back and took out out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Excadrill!" Sora called out. Excadrill came in his subterranean form, and then spreads his claws around upon entry.
"Sora's second Pokémon is Excadrill! Excadrill is both a Ground and Steel Type against a Rock Type Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Diantha was really impressed by Sora's strategy.
"Sora has truly came prepared. Will it be enough?" Diantha asked.
"Excadrill! Use Drill Run!" Sora ordered. Excadrill came right at Tyrantrum.
"Excadrill makes a good start with Drill Run!" The announcer announced.
"Tyrantrum! Dodge and use Dragon Claw!" Diantha ordered.
Tyrantrum dodged Drill Run and lands a Dragon Claw on the mole-like Pokémon. Tyrantrum lands a hit with Dragon Claw.
"Tyrantrum lands a successful hit with that Dragon Claw!" The announcer announced.
"Excadrill! Use Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Excadrill came at Tyrantrum with Metal Claw. Excadrill lands a successful blow.
"Excadrill lands a heavy blow with Metal Claw!" The announcer announced.
"Crunch!" Diantha ordered. Tyrantrum came at Excadrill with Crunch.
"Use Metal Claw again!" Sora ordered.
Tyrantrum came at Excadrill and Excadrill came at Tyrantrum with Metal Claw. Tyrantrum lands a bite onto Excadrill.
"Tyrantrum has taken Excadrill by the arm, and now it's in a real bind!" The announcer announced. Tyrantrum gave Excadrill a toss and lands on his back.
"Excadrill! Use Dig!" Sora ordered. Excadrill dug into the ground in his subterranean form. Diantha just grinned.
"Attacking from underneath won't work with me," Diantha said. "Tyrantrum! Use Earthquake!" Tyrantrum stomped on the ground. Excadrill is struck from underneath.
"That's bad, because when underground, Earthquake deals double damage," Aqua said. Excadrill came right out, injured from Earthquake. Sora called back Excadrill, and took out Beartic's Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Beartic!" Sora called out. Beartic came right out to battle.
"Sora's third Pokémon is Beartic! It's a Dragon Type against Ice Type Pokémon!" The announcer announced.
"Be ready, Tyrantrum!" Diantha called out.
"Use Icicle Crash!" Sora ordered. Beartic unleashed Icicle Crash right at Tyrantrum. The icicles came too fast for Tyrantrum to dodge.
"Tyrantrum's taken a lot of damage from Icicle Crash!" The announcer announced.
"Use Ice Punch!" Sora ordered. Beartic lands an icy punch onto Tyrantrum, resulting in a knockout.
"Tyrantrum is unable to battle! Beartic wins!" The referee announced.
"And Sora remains in the lead as Diantha has lost two of her Pokémon!" The announcer announced as Diantha called back Tyrantrum. Murmurs were going around to how good Sora was.
"Did you see that?"
"That kid just took down two of her Pokémon, and he didn't lose a single one?"
"I can see why he won those Pokémon Leagues."
"How good is that kid?"
"Well played, Sora," Diantha said, taking out her next Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Goodra!" A Goodra came right out to battle.
"Diantha has sent out her Goodra as her third Pokémon! She must have something planned if she's using another Dragon Type against an Ice Type!" The announcer announced.
"Beartic! Use Frost Breath!" Sora ordered. Beartic unleashed Frost Breath.
"Fire Blast!" Diantha ordered. Goodra unleashed a powerful Fire Blast. It cuts through Frost Breath, and lands a heavy blow onto Beartic, leading into a knockout.
"Beartic is unable to battle! Goodra wins!" The referee announced.
"I knew she would make a comeback sooner or later," Sora said in his thoughts. He called back Beartic and said aloud, "You did your best, Beartic. Get some rest." He took out his next Pokéball and readied it. "Back to action, Mega Pidgeot!" He threw it. Mega Pidgeot came back out, ready to battle still. Sora could tell he was still softened by the battle with Hawlucha.
"Mega Pidgeot is sent back out! Is it still able to keep going after battling Hawlucha?" The announcer asked.
"Goodra! Use Dragon Pulse!" Diantha ordered.
"Dodge and use Wing Attack!" Sora ordered. Mega Pidgeot lands a hit with Wing Attack. "Use Steel Wing!" Mega Pidgeot lands a hit with Steel Wing.
"Mega Pidgeot makes good use of its wings with Wing Attack and Steel Wing!" The announcer announced.
"Aerial Ace!" Sora ordered. Mega Pidgeot lands a hit with Aerial Ace, resulting in a knockout.
"Goodra is unable to battle! Mega Pidgeot wins!" The referee announced.
"And Goodra is down for the count! Sora has taken down half of her team, and he has lost only one! How will he be able to keep it up?!" The announcer asked. Diantha called back Goodra and smiled.
"You battled enough for today, Goodra. Rest for now," Diantha said. She took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Aurorus!" Her Pokéball opened, and an Aurorus came right out.
"Pokémon number four is Aurorus!" The announcer announced. Sora called back Mega Pidgeot and took out Excadrill's Pokéball and threw it.
"Excadrill! Back to action!" Sora called out. Excadrill emerged from inside and got ready. "I know you're exhausted from battling Tyrantrum, but you're the only one who can match her Aurorus."
"Drill," Excadrill said.
"Okay, Excadrill! Use Drill Run!" Sora ordered. Excadrill came right at Aurorus with Drill Run.
"Aurorus! Use Reflect!" Diantha ordered. Aurorus made a wall of rainbow-colored light, allowing Drill Run to bounce right off. "Use Blizzard!" Aurorus unleashed Blizzard, freezing Excadrill inside of a block of ice.
"Diantha has stopped Excadrill in its tracks with that Blizzard!" The announcer announced.
"Blizzard again!" Diantha ordered. Aurorus unleashed another Blizzard, sending Excadrill backwards, and against the wall, shattering the ice.
"Excadrill is unable to battle! Aurorus wins!" The referee announced.
"And that makes two in a row that Sora has lost to Diantha!" The announcer announced as Sora called back Excadrill.
"Get some rest, Excadrill. You definitely earned it," Sora said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Probopass!" Probopass came right out to battle against Aurorus.
"And Sora's Pokémon is a Probopass, another Steel Type!" The announcer announced.
"Probopass! Use Lock-On!" Sora ordered. Probopass locked right on to Aurorus. "Use Zap Cannon!" Probopass fired Zap Cannon, and lands a hit, paralyzing Aurorus on the mark.
"Probopass lands a paralyzing hit with Zap Cannon!" The announcer announced.
"What's wrong with Aurorus?" Mitsuru asked.
"Aurorus is paralyzed from Zap Cannon. Lock-On and Zap Cannon makes the perfect combo!" Karen said.
"Zap Cannon again!" Sora ordered.
"Use Light Screen!" Diantha ordered. Aurorus made a golden wall, making Zap Cannon bounces right off.
"Use Flash Cannon! Full power!" Sora ordered. Probopass fired a full powered Flash Cannon. The attack cuts through the Reflect and Light Screen attacks, and struck Aurorus hard on the mark. The sauropod Pokémon was at last brought down.
"Aurorus is unable to battle! Probopass wins!" The referee announced.
"And Diantha loses four of her Pokémon! Will she send out Gardevoir or another?" The referee asked. Diantha called back Aurorus and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Gourgeist!" Diantha called out. Gourgeist emerged from inside.
"And her fifth Pokémon is a Gourgeist!" The announcer announced.
"Probopass! Use Lock-On!" Sora ordered. Probopass uses Lock-On on his target. "Use Zap Cannon!"
"Phantom Force!" Diantha ordered. Gourgeist dove into a thin purple portal beneath it. It didn't take long for Gourgeist to come right out and lands a hit on Probopass. "Trick-or-Treat!" Gourgeist wriggled around as Probopass is surrounded by an orange aura. "Use
Shadow Sneak!" Gourgeist gave Probopass a strike with its own shadow, dealing some heavy damage.
"What was that just now?" Yukari asked.
"Trick-or-Treat just made Probopass a Ghost Type, and Ghost Types are weakened by Ghost Type moves!" Agumon said.
"Shadow Sneak again!" Diantha ordered. Gourgeist gave Probopass another hit of Shadow Sneak, resulting in a knockout.
"Probopass is unable to battle! Gourgeist wins!" The referee announced. Sora called back Probopass.
"Probopass and Excadrill aren't the only ones with an edge on Gardevoir," Sora said, taking out his next Pokéball and threw it. "You're up to bat, Marowak!" His Pokéball opened, and Marowak came right out.
"Sora's fifth Pokémon is an Alolan Marowak!" The announcer announced.
"Alolan Marowak?" Minato asked.
"You wouldn't have known. There are regions that have different appearances depending on where they're from. The Marowak in Kanto are Ground Types, while Sora's Marowak is a Fire and Ghost Type," Ventus said.
"I never seen an Alolan Marowak before," Clemont said with awe.
"Me neither," Bonnie said.
"An impressive looking Marowak," Diantha said.
"Okay, Marowak! Use Shadow Bone!" Sora ordered. Marowak came right at Gourgeist with Shadow Bone.
"Phantom Force!" Diantha ordered. Gourgeist dove down to avoid Marowak's Shadow Bone. Sora knew Gourgeist was going to come out at any moment.
"Stay alert, Marowak," Sora said. Marowak stayed on his toes as Gourgeist reappeared behind Marowak. "Behind you!" Marowak uses another Shadow Bone, dealing some damage on Gourgeist. "Use Flame Wheel!" Marowak is surrounded in green flames, and rolled right towards Gourgeist, dealing some damage. Gourgeist has been taken down.
"Gourgeist is unable to battle! Marowak wins!" The referee announced.
"And Sora has taken down five of Diantha's Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Diantha turned to Gardevoir.
"I know you've been waiting for this moment, Gardevoir," Diantha said. Gardevoir agreed with a nod, and entered the battlefield.
"And now, Diantha has sent out her signature Pokémon, Gardevoir! Sora remains to have the upperhand since Psychic Type Pokémon don't do well with Ghost Type Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Diantha's Keystone activates as did Gardevoir's Mega Stone.
"Mega Evolution!" Diantha called out. Gardevoir underwent a sudden transformation. Gardevoir turns almost completely white; only its hair remains green. Its gown becomes longer and wider, resembling a bridal gown. The forearms are slightly thicker with a pointed extension above the elbow, resembling gloves. Its facial spikes are larger and now curl upwards. In contrast, its hair is now shorter and more tightly curled. There are now two horns in the center of its chest, extending to either side. These horns are said to be a physical manifestation of this Pokémon's heart, and it is able to use tremendous psychic power now that it is open.
"And Gardevoir has underwent Mega Evolution!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Marowak! Use Shadow Bone!" Sora ordered. Marowak came right at Gardevoir with Shadow Bone.
"Mega Gardevoir! Use Moonblast!" Diantha ordered. Mega Gardevoir unleashed Moonblast, dealing some heavy damage on Marowak.
"Mega Gardevoir has done some major damage on Marowak!" The announcer announced.
"Shadow Ball!" Diantha ordered. Mega Gardevoir unleashed Shadow Ball, landing a powerful hit, and bringing the Alolan bone keeper Pokémon down.
"Marowak is unable to battle! Mega Gardevoir wins!" The referee announced.
"Now Sora is down to two Pokémon remaining! Will Sora be able to make a comeback?" The announcer asked. Sora called back Marowak, and took out Pidgeot's Pokéball.
"Back to action!" Sora called out. Mega Pidgeot emerged from inside.
"And Mega Pidgeot returns for a third time!" The announcer announced.
"Mega Pidgeot! Use Steel Wing!" Sora ordered. Mega Pidgeot came flying at Gardevoir with Steel Wing.
Mega Gardevoir looked at Diantha, and nodded. Mega Gardevoir manages to dodge Mega Pidgeot's Steel Wing.
"Thunderbolt!" Diantha ordered. Mega Gardevoir unleashed Thunderbolt, striking Mega Pidgeot on the mark. "Use Psychic!" Mega Gardevoir uses Psychic on Mega Pidgeot, and sends the bird Pokémon slamming on the ground. Mega Pidgeot reverts back to normal.
"Pidgeot is unable to battle! Mega Gardevoir wins!" The referee announced.
"A clash of two Mega Evolved Pokémon ends with Mega Gardevoir being the winner! Now Sora is down to one Pokémon remaining!" The announcer announced as Sora called back Pidgeot. He looked at his partner.
"Okay, Pikachu. You know what to do," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said, stepping on the battlefield. Angel was ecstatic to see Pikachu battle.
"And now, Sora sends out Pikachu to battle against Mega Gardevoir! This final round will decide the outcome of the battle!" The announcer announced.
"You battled wonderfully, Sora. Most of my opponents would had been having difficulty dealing with my Pokémon, but you are an exception," Diantha said. "I am willing to continue if you are."
"Thanks, Diantha. You battled awesomely, too. And I might as well give you what I've got," Sora said. "Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!"
"Mega Gardevoir! Thunderbolt as well!" Diantha ordered.
Both Pokémon unleashed Thunderbolt, making the electric attacks erupt upwards.
"Okay, Quick Attack, follow by Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu came running towards his opponent with Quick Attack, readying his tail for Iron Tail.
"Use Shadow Ball!" Diantha ordered. Mega Gardevoir unleashed Shadow Ball right at the mouse Pokémon. Shadow Ball came too fast for Pikachu to dodge. "Use Moonblast!" Mega Gardevoir unleashed Moonblast, sending Pikachu flying backwards.
"Diantha's making a major comeback with those moves! Will Sora be making a comeback anytime?" The announcer asked.
"Pikachu! Use Electro Web!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed an Electro Web, and sends it out at Mega Gardevoir. Mega Gardevoir easily dodged just by jumping out of Electro Web's path. "No way!"
"Shadow Ball!" Diantha ordered. Mega Gardevoir unleashed Shadow Ball, landing a heavy hitting blow. Pikachu wasn't going to call it quits yet.
"Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt right at Mega Gardevoir. Diantha wasn't going to go down that easily.
"Use Psychic!" Diantha ordered. Mega Gardevoir uses Psychic to block Pikachu's Thunderbolt. "Send it back!" Mega Gardevoir sends Thunderbolt back, striking Pikachu hard. Pikachu then goes down. He struggled to get back up, but he didn't have enough energy to keep going, and he fell on his belly.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Mega Gardevoir wins! The winner is Diantha!" The referee announced. The crowd cheered as Mega Gardevoir reverts back to normal. Sora went up to his partner and helps him up.
"Pikachu, you battled awesomely, and so did everyone else," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"We'll have to train harder when we battle her next time," Sora said. That made Pikachu feel so much better. Diantha approached Sora and she smiled.
"I don't think I have ever enjoyed a battle just as challenging as this. I knew I made the right choice by challenging you, Sora," Diantha said.
"Thanks. I'm going to guess you had me right from the start, but it was a thrill to battle you," Sora said, shaking her hand.
Sora might not have won, but the battle against Diantha has only inspired him to try even harder the next time. And the journey continues.
