Episode 544: Climbing the Walls!
A few hours after making a stop in Ambrette Town and visiting the Fossil Lab, Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Serena, Clemont, Noct, Luna, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, the Digimon and SEES finally arrived in Cyllage City, the sight of Sora's next Gym battle.
"Cyllage City, we made it!" Veemon said.
"It took a while, but it was worth it," Meowth said.
"We should hit the Pokémon Center before we get to the Gym," Luna suggested.
"You're right, Luna," Noct agreed with his fiancée. "We should check the conditions of our Pokémon before we press on."
Shinjiro took out his smartphone and he texted Kotone.
Just arrived in town. Meet you at Pokémon Center. - Shinjiro. He waited for a few seconds before she texted him back.
Okay. I'll head your way as soon as I hear from you. - Kotone. Shinjiro puts his smartphone in his pocket.
Over Kotone, she gone through the gallery of her friends, and saw many of them being happy. Kotone shed a tear, remembering the tragedy that took place before she arrived into Sora's world.
(Flashback)
Kotone stood before the corpses of her teammates in SEES. She was in tears for what happened. All around her, all of humanity have perished, but not only humanity, but all of the plants and animals have all died out as well. In her world, SEES have failed to save humanity.
"Aigis, Mitsuru, Yukari, Fuuka, Junpei, Ken, Metis, Akihiko, Koro," Kotone said. "First I lose Shinjiro, and now this happen!" She cried. "DAMMIT! WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?! GODDAMMIT!"
"It is not your fault," a voice spoke. Kotone looked and saw Cosma walking towards her. "What happened to your friends is a tragedy. One that should never been allowed."
"Who are you?" Kotone asked. "And how are you alive?"
"I am Cosma. And I am not an inhabitant of this world. A goddess," Cosma said.
"Goddess? If you're a goddess, then why didn't you prevent this from happening? We could have used your help!" Kotone exclaimed in tears.
"I cannot. It wasn't my place to interfere in the affairs of you mortals. But, I cannot stand back any longer. I can help make amends to help," Cosma said.
"What can you do that's helpful?" Kotone asked.
"There are other worlds that are in danger as this one was until its demise," Cosma said.
"You think I care about what happens to other worlds?" Kotone asked.
"If you had the keys to save your world, would you have done it?" Cosma asked.
"In an instant!" Kotone answered.
"Then, you must help prevent tragedies like the one that befell your world to ever occur again," Cosma said. Kotone was skeptical to trust her, but given to what she was just told, she knew she was right.
"Is there a way to revive my world?" Kotone asked. Cosma sadly shook her head.
"I'm afraid it's not possible, because this world cannot be brought back to life, nor can its inhabitants, but there is another that is similar to your own," Cosma said, holding out her hand. "Come." Kotone took her hand and she went through a shining light. The light fades a few seconds later, and she was shocked to see the people going about their daily routine.
"What is this? You said my world is dead, and cannot be brought back," Kotone said.
"This is not your world. This is the other. I brought you here after the events of a young man named Minato Arisato has perished. He is a member of SEES," Cosma said.
"I never heard of him," Kotone said.
"You wouldn't have," Cosma said. She brought out a small bottle. "Take this."
"What is this?" Kotone asked, taking the bottle.
"This is known as the Phoenix Elixer," Cosma said.
"What does it do?" Kotone asked.
"It has the power to resurrect the dead. In doing so, it erases the memories of death from those who are close to the one you choose," Cosma said.
"I can use it to bring back anyone; even my parents?" Kotone asked.
"Yes and no. Yes, because it can bring back any whom you choose, but no, because its powers have no effect on those from a dead world," Cosma said. "It is a small sample, so I advise you to use it wisely."
"I think I know who to use it on, assuming he's dead here, too," Kotone said.
"He is dead," Cosma said, understanding her. "I shall meet with you again." She disappeared.
That night, Kotone stumbled into the graveyard and unearthed an urn and opened the top. She poured the Phoenix Elixer into the urn. The liquid came out as an orange-red substance. Flame erupted from the urn as the ashes are poured on the ground. The ashes then formed a human skeleton. The organs began to form and then the muscles, and then finally, the skin. Hair grew on his head. Shinjiro screamed in pain as he felt a burning sensation. He laid on the ground naked.
"What the hell just happened?" Shinjiro asked, looking around. "Where am I? And why am I naked?!" He looked at Kotone and he gasped, placing his hands over his private parts. "Who are you?"
"Shinjiro! Thank god! You're alive!" Kotone exclaimed as she embraced him. "I thought I would never see you again!"
"Hey, I'm naked in case you didn't notice!" Shinjiro exclaimed. He pushed her off. "Where am I, and who are you? And where the hell are my clothes?!"
"Right. This might be a lot to take in, but okay. Here goes," Kotone said, taking a deep breath. "I know you, but you don't know me. My name is Kotone Shiomi. I'm the member of SEES, but not your SEES." Shinjiro looked at her like she was crazy.
"Okay, Kotone, was it, you're saying you're with SEES, but not my SEES. What do you mean not my SEES, and how do you know my name?" Shinjiro asked.
"I can answer," Cosma's voice spoke before being teleported. They arrived to the Velvet Room with Shinjiro in his clothes.
"That's better," Shinjiro said. Cosma appeared before them. "And who are you?"
"I am Cosma. Kotone is the one who resurrected you," Cosma said.
"Resurrected?" Shinjiro asked, surprised.
"Yes. You were dead until just moments ago," Cosma said. Shinjiro was stunned by the news.
"No way! There's no way I could have been dea-" Shinjiro paused when he realized something. He suddenly remembered how he died. "Oh my god! I remember being shot from behind!" He then started to get other memories. Memories of Minato dying. He knew those weren't real. "Wait, I wasn't there!"
"No, you were not. It is a side-effect of the Phoenix Elixer. It erases the memories of death to those around you, but you still possess the memory of your own demise as well," Cosma said.
"Okay, I'm no scientist, but even I think that's crazy," Shinjiro said. He turned to Kotone. "And how do you know about me?"
"This is a bit of a surprise, but the thing is, I'm actually your girlfriend, in a different world, and I'm the leader of SEES," Kotone explained.
"You're the leader of SEES?" Shinjiro asked.
"I was," Kotone said. "I'm not just the leader of my SEES; I'm its only surviving member. And I'm the only surviving human being left. All of humanity were wiped out by the Shadows in my world. And that was I was brought here."
Shinjiro was stunned to hear that Kotone is his girlfriend from another world, and that all his friends are dead there. It was a lot to take in.
"I know you find it hard to believe, but you must," Cosma said. "You and the rest of SEES must work with her to prevent another world's suffering."
"How?" Shinjiro asked.
"I can send you into another world, but I will Kotone there ahead of you, so you can meet up with her," Cosma said.
"Um, okay," Shinjiro said.
"In the meantime, I will return you to your home, and prepare the rest of SEES first," Cosma said.
"Alright," Shinjiro said.
Cosma sends Shinjiro back to his home as Kotone is sent to the Kalos region. It was different from her world, but she didn't question it, so she went on to explore until hitting Cyllage City.
(Flashback ends)
"Just don't take too long this time, Shinjiro," Kotone said in her thoughts.
The group arrived to the Pokémon Center, and sees Calem sitting down.
"Hey, Sora," Calem greeted.
"Calem, hey," Sora greeted back.
"It's been a while," Ventus said.
"I take it that you're here for a Gym battle, too, huh, Sora?" Calem asked..
"Yep. Did you challenge the Gym Leader here?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. And I can tell you, it was much harder than I thought," Calem said. "That Grant really gave me a run for my money. That is until I beaten him. He was so impressed by my battling skills, he gave me the Cliff Badge as proof of my victory." He noticed Serena with them. "Hey, Serena." Calem blushed.
"Hi, Calem," Serena greeted. "Glad you won."
"Thanks," Calem said.
"I take it that those two know each other," Akihiko said.
"Yeah," Sora said. "Calem has a thing for her." Yukari leaned close to Fuuka.
"And he doesn't see Serena has a thing for him," Yukari whispered, making Fuuka giggle.
"How can someone who can look into the aura of living beings be so blind?" Fuuka asked as she whispered back. The bell rings as Grant went to pick up his Pokémon. He wore a simple black shirt, grey pants and black shoes and carried climbing equipment on his neck and around his hips.
"Nurse Joy, how are my Pokémon doing?" Grant asked.
"They're in fighting shape. I recommend that they have their rest for the remainder of the day," Nurse Joy said.
"Of course," Grant said. He noticed his two challengers in the same Pokémon Center as him. "Sora, Noct, I'm glad you came."
"Hey, Grant," Sora greeted.
"When did you arrive?" Grant asked.
"Not too long ago," Noct said. "I take it that you lost your recent battle."
"I did. And I almost had him, too," Grant said. "Noct, I hope you are willing to wait until tomorrow for us to have our Gym battle."
"I don't mind at all," Noct said. "I am looking forward to it."
"Good," Grant said, turning to Sora. "And Sora, you and I will have our battle afterwards."
"I'm in no hurry, Grant. And, if it's okay with you, I would like to watch the battle between you two," Sora said. Grant just smiled.
"I have no objections, Sora," Grant said. "Until tomorrow." The Cyllage City Gym Leader took his leave of the Pokémon Center, leaving Sora and Noct to prepare for their battle.
Meanwhile, Diantha had arrived in a coffee shop to see the man from the VIP booth waiting for her. She took her seat.
"Lysandre, thank you for inviting me," Diantha said.
"I would have invited you sooner if I weren't a slave to the clock," Lysandre said. "I apologize if this is late, but congratulations on your victory against Sora Ketchum. For an instant, I thought you were going to lose."
"Thank you. It is better to have come late than never," Diantha said. "Sora has shown lots of promise for someone his age. It has been a long time since I have ever battled a trainer like him. Not many would have come close."
"I admit, young Sora has potential. That is not why I wanted to meet with you," Lysandre admitted.
"Then what?" Diantha asked.
"I was thinking on how we can beauty eternal," Lysandre proposed.
"Making beauty eternal? You cannot be serious," Diantha said.
"Just think about it. Everything that is beautiful should remain beautiful; Pokémon and people," Lysandre said. "The ugliness in the world taints the world." Diantha looked at him quite oddly.
"I don't seem to understand your meaning, Lysandre, but there is such a thing as inner beauty. I have always been a strong believer in that," Diantha said.
"Beauty should be expressed on the outside. Which is art is displayed in museums," Lysandre said. "I am hoping to do the same for the world."
"I honestly don't know what you have in store, Lysandre. So, I'm sorry," Diantha said, standing up. "Please excuse me. I must go."
"Take all the time you need, Diantha," Lysandre said. A few moments later, he makes a phone call. He waited for a few seconds. "How goes the research?"
Elsewhere, a pale man is on his phone. He has orange, oddly-cut hair, resembling the the same flare symbol, with a goatee. He wore orange goggles, with a small microphone on his right ear. He wore an orange tie with his orange suit and a pair of shoes. He also wore a rubber glove on his left hand, while his other glove is sticking out of his left pocket on the suit.
"The research is going smoothly, Mr. Lysandre," the man answered. "I have given orders to transfer the data to your personal computer."
Back to Lysamdre, he grinned.
"Excellent, Xerosic," Lysandre said. "I'll have a look at it as soon I return to my office."
Back in Cyllage City, Kotone arrived to the Pokémon Center after arriving. She looked around for Shinjiro. He waved to her. She embraced him in her arms.
"I wanted to see you again so badly," Kotone said. Shinjiro took her in his arms and he moved his face forward. The two of them kissed on the lips.
"It may seem technically accurate, but it feels right somehow," Shinjiro said.
"I feel the same, Shinjiro," Kotone said. "It almost feels like a dream."
"It's no dream; it's real," Shinjiro said.
"Just how will we be able to explain this to the others?" Kotone asked. Shinjiro sighed.
"We might as well tell everyone," Shinjiro said.
"Shinjiro, what's taking you?" Meowth asked, looking for him. "Everybody's wondering where you sneaked off to." Meowth saw him holding Kotone in his arms. "Oh boy, this is awkward." Meowth remembered that one morning he came back to Jessie and James after that night.
"I think I'm going nuts, but I think that cat is talking," Kotone said.
"Trust me, you're not losing it," Shinjiro assured her.
"So, something you wanna share, Shinny?" Meowth asked.
"I think it's best we tell this with everyone," Shinjiro said.
With that said, Shinjiro brought Kotone with him. He introduced her to everyone, although there were certain members of the group she was already familiar with. Sora on the other hand, had a look into her aura, and saw it was the same as Minato's, but at the same time, they were different.
"So, Sora, what do you think?" Karen asked.
"Her aura matches Minato, but at the same time, they're different," Sora said.
"How can you be sure?" Kotone asked.
"Your aura matches Minato's, but the two of you are different. Not just as people, but in an inter dimensional way," Sora said.
"What does that have to do with anything, Sora?" Bonnie asked.
"Every living thing has an aura, Bonnie. Everyone's aura are different from each others. Minato and Kotone has the same aura, which is a huge head scratcher on my part," Sora explained. Bonnie was confused.
"I don't get it," Bonnie said.
"I'm not sure I get it," Sora said.
"I don't think it's worth the headache, Sora," Kairi said.
"You're right, Kairi," Sora agreed with his girlfriend. "Anyway, Kotone, I think you should start from the beginning."
"If you must know. To say again, my name is Kotone Shiomi," Kotone introduced again.
"And you said you're the leader of the Special Extracurricular Execute Sector in your world," Minato said.
"I was," Kotone said.
"What do you mean was?" Junpei asked.
"I'm not just the leader of my SEES. I'm its only surving member; and I'm actually the last inhabitant of my world," Kotone said. "The Shadows in my world has succeeded in where my SEES failed; but in your world, SEES has succeeded in the Shadows have failed."
The entire group were shocked to hear Kotone's world has died, and she was now alone.
"That is a lot to take in," Terra said.
"I agree," Akihiko agreed. "It must have been hard."
"Trust me, it was," Kotone said.
"If you're the last survivor of your world, then how did you get here?" Ventus asked.
"Ven's right. It shouldn't be possible for you to get here," Clemont pointed out, stroking his chin.
"I was brought here," Kotone answered. "By Cosma." Sora knew he heard that name before.
"Cosma?" Sora asked.
"Yeah," Kotone said. "She told me about what was going on, and she brought me here." Minato looked at her and he sighed.
"I'm sorry about your world, Kotone," Minato said. He looked at Sora and Kairi, so he sighed again. "There's something I think you should know."
"What?" Aqua asked.
"What is it that we should know?" Hawkmon asked.
"The thing is, I was dead before coming here," Minato admitted. This shocked the entire group, except for SEES.
"You were dead?" Agumon asked.
"Are you a ghost?" Bonnie asked.
"Or a zombie?" Ventus asked.
"No, I'm not either one of them," Minato said.
"How are alive if you were dead?" Kairi asked.
"I was brought back to life by a wizard named Xande. He used some kind of spell to bring me back to life. By then, I had no idea where I was. Cosma got me out of there, and we met not long after that," Minato explained.
"A wizard?" Clemont asked, finding it unbelievable.
"I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. I think Team Shadow has something to do it when Cosma mentioned them," Minato said.
"Who is Xande?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"I could have sworn I heard that name before," Noct said.
"We kept quiet about it because we didn't think you would believe us," Junpei said.
"Given your past experiences, we should have known better than to think otherwise," Mitsuru said.
"We just weren't expecting anything like this," Meowth said.
"And here's something else unexpected. I was dead once, too," Shinjiro said. Everyone were shocked when they heard him.
"You were dead, too?" Minato asked in shock.
"Yeah. It was before Minato died," Shinjiro said.
"No way you were dead, because you were with us," Junpei said.
"That's because the Phoenix Elixer is what erased memories of his death from all of your minds," Kotone said.
"The what?" Yukari asked.
"The Phoenix Elixer. It brought Shinjiro back from the grave. I couldn't use it in my world, because it only works in living worlds, and there was only enough to bring back one person, and out of all of them, I chose Shinjiro," Kotone said.
"I think I can understand," Aqua said.
"We'll have a word with SMASH after Sora has his Gym battle," Agumon said.
"I agree," Veemon said.
On the very next day, Noct got to have his Gym battle ahead of Sora. What was incredible to the group was the wall they had to climb up.
"So, challengers has to climb that?" Ventus asked.
"Not necessary," Grant answered. "There's also an elevator to go up on, or you can take the stairs."
"I think we'll take the stairs," Minato and Kotone both said. With that said, the Digimon and SEES climbed the stairs as Sora, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Luna, Calem, Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Dedenne, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, and Eclair took the elevator. By the time they got there, both trainers stood on opposite sides of the battlefield, ready to go.
"The Gym battle between the Gym Leader Grant and Prince Noctis of the Kingdom of Lucis is about to begin! Both trainers will be using three Pokémon each. The battle will be over when all three of either trainer's Pokémon are all unable to battle! Only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions during the battle! Choose and begin!" The referee announced. Both Grant and Noct each took out a Pokéball and readied it.
"This guy's a prince?" Kotone asked.
"It was a shock to us. Sora explained the situation to us," Minato said.
"Go! Onix!" Grant called out. His Onix emerged from inside the Pokéball and roared upon entry.
"Go! Greninja!" Noct called out. Greninja emerged from inside and does a flip upon entry.
"This is great! He's starting out with a Water Type Pokémon!" Meowth said.
"That gives Onix a huge disadvantage!" Ventus said.
"And I thought it was because of that thing's size," Ken said.
"So did I," Kotone said.
"Greninja! Use Water Shuriken!" Noct ordered. Greninja threw shurikens made of pure water right at the rock snake Pokémon.
"Onix! Dodge and use Rock Tomb!" Grant ordered. Onix moved out of the way of the Water Shurikens with its unusual speed and unleashed Rock Tomb.
"How can something so big move so fast?" Junpei asked.
"And here comes those rocks," Akihiko said.
"That won't stop Noct," Luna said.
"Use Double Team!" Noct ordered. Greninja made several copies of itself and lunged forward. A few of the copies were hit, but the rest kept coming. "Use Ice Punch!" The other copies all vanish and the original lands an icy punch onto Onix, dealing some heavy damage.
"And how right you were!" Patamon said.
"Onix is also a Ground Type, so his weakness to Ice Type moves is just perfect!" Kairi said.
"Onix! Use Iron Tail!" Grant ordered. Onix moved his tail forward to strike the ninja frog Pokémon.
"Greninja! Use Water Shuriken!" Noct ordered. Greninja unleashed Water Shuriken, landing a few hits on Onix, canceling out Onix's Iron Tail. "One more Ice Punch!" Greninja lands an icy punch onto Onix, dealing some extra damage. Onix was now down for the count.
"Onix is unable to battle! Greninja wins!" The referee announced.
"One down, two to go," Clemont said.
"Sora, you seen him battle. Just what other one does he have?" Kotone asked.
"He has a Tyrunt with him. He might be saving that one for last," Sora said.
Grant called back his Onix and he smiled.
"Get some rest, Onix. You deserve it," Grant said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Amaura!" His Pokéball opened and his Amaura came on out.
"An Amuara," Tentomon said.
"I'm going to guess that must be how he deals with Grass Type Pokémon," Wormmon said, making Palmon shiver.
"I'm getting cold just thinking about it," Palmon said.
Noct called Greninja back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Aegislash!" Noct called out. Aegislash came out, holding its shield in front of itself.
"Aegislash is a Steel Type, so Amaura is at a disadvantage because it's a Rock Type and an Ice Type," Terra said.
"Amaura! Use Rock Tomb!" Grant ordered. Amaura unleashed Rock Tomb and sends it right at Aegislash.
"Use King's Shield!" Noct ordered. Light blue hexagonal shapes then appear one by one in front of Aegislash until they form a shield, blocking itself from attacks. The rocks makes direct contact with the shield, they glow blue, lowering the attack power of Amaura. "Now use Sacred Sword!" Aegislash now takes the shield from itself and held it in one hand. Aegislash's sword glows light blue and grows bigger. Aegislash then slices Amaura with it. The tundra Pokémon had been taken down with just one hit.
"Amaura is unable to battle! Aegislash wins!" The referee announced.
"Down with just one hit!" Shinjiro said.
"Aegislash is more experienced in battle, so that's probably why it lost so quickly and easily," Aqua said. Grant called back Amaura and he smiled.
"I am impressed, Noct. I can see why you're a Grand Duke in the Battle Chateau. Now, I have just one left, and I think you know what it is," Grant said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Tyrunt!" His Pokéball opened and his Tyrunt stomped on the ground upon entry
"Tyrunt, just as I thought," Sora said.
"You were right about him saving Tyrunt for last," Serena said.
"He did the same thing to me when I battled him," Calem said.
"That Tyrunt has Meteor Beam, so it won't be easy," Biyomon said.
"Meteor Beam?" Kotone asked.
"You'll have to see it," Shinjiro said.
"Aegislash! Use Sacred Sword!" Noct ordered. Aegislash moved in to deliver Sacred Sword.
"Dodge and use Fire Fang!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt dodged and lands a burning bite onto Aegislash, dealing some heavy damage.
"Fire Fang is a good way to use against Steel Type Pokémon," Clemont commented.
"Fire Fang again and again!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt lands continuous bites with Fire Fang. Tyrunt came too fast to block and/or dodge. Tyrunt lands one more Fire Fang, taking Aegislash down.
"Aegislash is unable to battle! Tyrunt wins!" The referee announced.
"Noct actually lost one," Luna said.
"Yeah, but it won't stop him," Sora said. Noct called back Aegislash and smiled.
"You battled well, Aegislash. Get some rest," Noct said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Conkeldurr!" His Conkeldurr came out to battle, and flexed its huge muscles upon entry.
"A Conkeldurr. A Fighting Type is another good one against a Rock Type," Ventus said.
"Conkeldurr! Come at Tyrunt with Brick Break!" Noct ordered. Conkeldurr came at Tyrunt with Brick Break.
"Dodge and use Rock Tomb!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt dodged and forms rocks and sends them right at Conkeldurr. The muscular is pelted by the rocks.
"Send them back!" Conkeldurr swings its pillars at Tyrunt, hitting him with his own attack. "Use Superpower!" Conkeldurr flexed its muscles and then came right at Tyrunt.
"Tyrunt! Use Meteor Beam!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt began to build up energy to fire Meteor Beam.
"And here it comes," Metis said. Conkeldurr lands a hit onto Tyrunt, dealing some damage. Tyrunt then fired Meteor Beam right Conkeldurr. The cosmic beam came too fast for Conkeldurr to block or dodge, so it sends the muscular Pokémon back against a large boulder, knocking it out.
"Conkeldurr is unable to battle! Tyrunt wins!" The referee announced.
"That shouldn't have done much damage, but it was enough to take Conkeldurr down," Clemont said.
"Let's see how he's gonna manage," Karen said. Noct called back Conkeldurr and took out Greninja's Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Greninja!" Noct called out. Greninja came out to battle.
"Tyrunt! Use Rock Tomb!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt unleashed Rock Tomb right at the ninja frog Pokémon.
"Use Double Team!" Noct ordered. Greninja made copies of itself again. "Use Water Shuriken!" Greninja and the copies threw the water ninja stars at the rocks, shattering them into pieces. "Water Shuriken again!" Greninja threw another Water Shuriken at Tyrunt, landing a hit. "Use Ice Punch!" Greninja lands an Ice Punch onto Tyrunt, dealing some heavy damage. "Use Feint Attack!" Greninja vanishes and the. reappears, landing a hit onto Tyrunt.
"Meteor Beam!" Noct ordered. Tyrunt started to build up energy again, but Noct wasn't having it.
"Use Feint Attack, followed by Ice Punch!" Noct ordered. Greninja disappeared and reappeared, landing an Ice Punch. Tyrunt fired Metoer Beam straight into the sky. Tyrunt has taken lots of damage and fell on his back. Tyrunt tried to get back up, but fell out of exhaustion.
"Tyrunt is unable to battle! Greninja wins! The winner of the battle is Prince Noctis of Lucis!" The referee announced. Luna was happy for her fiancée.
"I knew you would win," Luna said. Noct smiled as Grant approached his opponent.
"That was an excellent battle. The way you raised your Pokémon is proof of how well you battled. As proof of your victory, I am presenting you the Cliff Badge," Grant said, presenting Noct a badge that is shaped like a cliff or arock climbingwall. Noct accepts it.
"Thank you, Grant," Noct said.
Now Sora knew what he was up against, he had to work hard to win his second Gym Badge.
The group left the Gym as Sora starts to train hard for the upcoming battle.
"That's great, guys! Keep it up!" Sora said. He's been training ever since they came back from the Gym. Kairi, Karen, and Serena watched him train as well as Calem.
On the very next day, the group came back to the Gym and entered inside. Grant smiled to see Sora.
"Well, Sora. I heard you did some training after watching the two of us. I hope you understand what you're up against," Grant said.
"Oh, don't worry, I know exactly what I'm up against," Sora said. "And I'm ready for anything you throw at me."
"That's what I like to hear, Sora. Viola told me about how you're the Pokémon League Champion in the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova regions, so I wanted to see if that's going to be enough in my Gym," Grant said. "Also, you have a choice to either climb the cliff to get to the battlefield, or you can just take the stairs or use the elevator."
"I think I'll just climb my way up to you," Sora stated as he started to climb up with Pikachu on his back.
"Looks like fun!" Bonnie said, attempting to climb up, but Clemont stopped her.
"No you don't! You're taking the elevator with us!" Clemont said, making Bonnie pout.
"It's the stairs for us," Agumon said.
Sora and Pikachu climbed the cliff to the best of their abilities. Sora did slip a few times along the way, but he kept on going. He eventually made it to the top along with the rest of the group.
"Glad you made it, Sora. We can start whenever you are ready," Grant said.
"I'm ready when you are," Sora said. Sora took his position on the battlefield as the referee steps in.
"The Gym battle between the Gym Leader Grant and Sora from Pallet Town is about to begin! Both trainers will be using three Pokémon each. The battle will be over when all three of either trainer's Pokémon are all unable to battle! Only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions during the battle! Choose and begin!" The referee announced as Sora and Grant each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Onix!" Grant called out. Onix emerged from inside with a roar.
"Go! Froakie!" Sora calledout. Froakie emerged from inside and got set to battle.
"Onix! Use Rock Tomb!" Grant ordered. Onix made the first move with Rock Tomb.
"Use Double Team!" Sora ordered. Froakie made several copies of himself. "Now, use Quick Attack!" Froakie hopped forward to dodge the Rock Tomb. The rocks have missed their targets. "Use Water Pulse!" Froakie hurls Water Pulse at the rock snake Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Rock Polish!" Grant ordered. Onix shines its rocky skin, raising up Onix's speed. "Dodge!" Onix manages to dodge Froakie's Water Pulse. "Use Flash Cannon!" Onix fired Flash Cannon at Froakie's duplicates. They all vanished when the attack made contact. "Use Iron Tail!" Onix lands a hit with Iron Tail.
"Froakie! You okay?" Sora called out. Froakie lands on his feet.
"Froakie, Fro!" Froakie answered.
"Great! Use Bubble!" Sora ordered. Froakie fired Bubble right at Onix.
"Block with Iron Tail!" Grant ordered. Onix swung its tail with Iron Tail, bursting them all. "Use Rock Tomb!" Onix unleashed Rock Tomb and they come on down.
"Use Double Team!" Sora ordered. Froakie made copies of himself again. "Hop on those rocks!" Froakie hops right on the falling rocks. Froakie jumps on the falling rocks.
"Whoa, look at Froakie move!" Ventus said.
"Use Bubble!" Sora ordered. Froakie fired the bubbles at the rock snake Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage. Froakie gets on Onix's face.
"Shake Froakie off your face!" Grant called out. Onix tried shake off Froakie, but the bubble frog Pokémon just held on.
"Water Pulse in the face!" Sora ordered. Froakie formed Water Pulse and delivers it into its face, dealing extra damage. Onix fell backwards, beaten.
"Onix is unable to battle! Froakie wins!" The referee announced. Grant calls Onix back and he smiled.
"Rest, Onix. You have earned it," Grant said. He took out another Pokéball. "I can see why Viola has great respect for you. But the next one won't be so easy to beat." He threw his Pokéball. "Go! Amaura!" His Amaura emerged from inside the Pokéball.
"You still good to go, Froakie?" Sora asked.
"Fro," Froakie nodded. Sora smiled.
"Alright! Froakie! Use Water Pulse!" Sora ordered. Froakie unleashed Water Pulse and sends it at Amaura.
"Dodge and use Freeze-Dry!" Grant ordered. Amaura releases a gust of cold air from its mouth at Froakie, dealing heavy damage.
"What just happened?" Kotone asked.
"Freeze-Dry is super-effective on Water Type Pokémon. Teaching Amaura Freeze-Dry is a good strategy to use against Water Type Pokémon, as well as Amaura being used against Grass Types," Clemont said.
"A cover for each other's weaknesses," Akihiko said.
"That's one way to put it," Aqua said.
"Froakie, you okay?" Sora asked.
"Froakie," Froakie said weakly.
"Okay, use Double Team!" Sora ordered. Froakie made several copies of himself. "Use Water Pulse!" Froakie formed Water Pulse and sends it at Amaura.
"Use Ice Beam all around!" Grant ordered. Amaura fired Ice Beam at all the duplicates until the real Froakie was found. Froakie was now frozen. "Finish it Freeze-Dry!" Amaura unleashed Freeze-Dry and it was enough to finish Froakie off.
"Froakie is unable to battle! Amaura wins!" The referee announced. Sora called back Froakie and smiled.
"Rest up, Froakie. You earned it," Sora said. He took out Honedge's Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Honedge!" Honedge came out and unseathed himself.
"Using a Steel Type against Amaura is a good call," Aqua said.
"You think Sora plans to finish this in one shot?" Fuuka asked.
"I don't think so," Kairi said. "Grant doesn't look like the kind of trainer who's easy to fool. And Sora knows it, too."
"So, using a Steel Type Pokémon against my Amaura are you? Your Honedge looks strong, but it might be able to withstand against my Amaura," Grant said. "Amaura! Rock Tomb!" Amaura forms Rock Tomb and sends it right at the sword Pokémon.
"Use Slash!" Sora ordered. Honedge slashed through the falling rocks like they were tomatoes.
"How did Honedge do that?" Bonnie asked.
"Sora did some practice on those rocks in Ambrette Town. I knew he was going to use that trick!" Kairi said.
"Wow, Sora is full of surprises," Clemont said.
"He's so cool!" Bonnie cheered.
"Use Iron Head!" Sora ordered. Honedge came right at Amaura and lands a hit with Iron Head. "Use Night Slash!" Honedge swipes at Amaura and lands goes flying. Amaura had been taken down.
"Amaura is unable to battle! Honedge wins!" The referee announced.
"Now Grant has one Pokémon left to use," Terra said.
"And we all know which one that is, and what moves he can use," Agumon said. The rest of the group agreed as Grant called back Amaura.
"That was excellent, Sora. The way you used Slash on my Amaura's Rock Tomb was very impressive. No doubt your hard work has paid off. That deserves respect," Grant said, taking out his third Pokéball. "Now for my last Pokémon. Go! Tyrunt!" His Tyrunt came out, ready to battle.
"I knew he was saving Tyrunt for last. I was counting on it. Okay, Fire Fang, Rock Tomb and Meteor Beam are my biggest worries," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Tyrunt! Use Fire Fang!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt came running towards the sword Pokémon with its jaws emitting fire.
"Dodge it when he gets close!" Sora called out. Honedge waited for Tyrunt to come closer, so he dodged as soon as Tyrunt got close enough. "Use Iron Head!" Honedge lands a hit with Iron Head. "Use Night Slash!" Honedge slashed into Tyrunt, landing a hit.
"Use Crunch!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt tried to land a bite, but Honedge dodged the bite attack.
"Good dodge, Honedge!" Ventus cheered.
"Keep it up!" Bonnie cheered as well.
"Tyrunt, follow Honedge's movements and use Fire Fang as soon as you have a lock on it!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt watched the sword Pokémon carefully, not letting his eyes leave his target. Once Tyrunt had a lock on the sword Pokémon, Tyrunt came at Honedge with Fire Fang. Honedge was dealing some heavy damage now. "Now, use one more Fire Fang!" Tyrunt lands Fire Fang, finishing off the sword Pokémon.
"Honedge is unable to battle! Tyrunt wins!" The referee announced.
"Now Sora is down to one Pokémon left to use," Gomamon said.
"And be better make it count," Gatomon said. Sora called back Honedge and took out his third Pokéball.
"Okay, here goes! Go! Chespin!" Sora called out. Chespin came on out to battle, and ready to go.
"Well, this is going to be trying. Tyrunt's a Dragon Type Pokémon, so a super-effective hit isn't going to happen against Tyrunt even as a Rock Type," Karen said.
"Sora will think of something," Kairi and Serena said at once.
"Tyrunt! Use Fire Fang!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt came rinning towards Chespin with Fire Fang.
"Dodge and use Vine Whip!" Sora ordered. Chespin lands a hit with Vine Whip, dealing some damage. "Use Mud Shot!" Chespin fired Mud Bomb, landing some heavy damage.
"I thought you said super-effective moves won't cut it," Kotone said.
"That was for Grass Type moves, not Ground Type moves," Karen said.
"Impressive. I wasn't expecting your Chespin to be able to use Mud Shot," Grant said. "Well done."
"Okay Chespin! Use Mud Shot!" Sora ordered as Chespin fired another Mud Shot.
"Dodge and use Meteor Beam!" Grant ordered. Tyrunt began to build up cosmic energy to fire at the spiny nut Pokémon.
"I knew he was going to use that move sooner or later. How am I gonna be able to stop that move?" Sora asked in his thoughts. He thought ans he thought, but then he remembered his Chespin uses Vine Whip, and that gave him an idea. He grinned.
"I know that look on his face! Sora has something!" Agumon said.
"What is it?" Minato asked.
"I think we're about to find out," Calem said.
"Vine Whip at Tyrunt's mouth!" Sora called out. Chespin uses Vine Whip and holds Tyrunt's mouth shut. Grant was surprised by what he was doing. The energy continued to build up slowly.
"What's he doing?" Clemont asked.
"I get it! I get it! Sora is making sure Meteor Beam isn't fired right out; and Tyrunt can't use Crunch nor Fire Fang!" Meowth said.
"Keep holding on!" Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu added.
Chespin kept holding on until the energy within Tyrunt has reached its limit and resulted in an explosion. Smoke covered the entire battlefield. It cleared up a few seconds later. Chespin has taken a lot of damage from the explosion, but so has Tyrunt. The royal heir Pokémon fell on his front, knocked out.
"Tyrunt is unable to battle! Chespin wins! The winner of the battle is Sora!" The referee announced.
"He turned it around, and he won!" Ventus exclaimed.
"Pika!" Sparky cheered.
"Hooray!" Bonnie cheered.
"Denne, ne!" Dedenne cheered. Grant called back Tyrunt and walked up to Sora.
"That was a great battle, Sora. Your reputation as a Pokémon League Champion did proceed you. As proof of your victory, I present you the Cliff Badge!" Grant said, handing Sora his second Gym Badge.
"Thanks, Grant. I'm glad I was able to impress you," Sora said. He accepts his second Gym Badge and placed it next to the Bug Badge.
The group exited the Gym with Grant standing out front.
"Now that you have two, you need only six more. And I happen to know where you should try next," Grant said.
"Where's that?" Sora asked.
"That would be Shalour City," Grant said.
"Shalour City, got it," Sora said.
"Good luck, Sora, and I'm looking forward in seeing you in the Battle Chateau again," Grant said.
"Right back at ya," Sora said.
Now that Sora has two Gym Badges under his belt, his next stop will be Shalour City for his next Gym battle, and some more adventures coming his way.
