Chapter 3: Readying Up and Coming Clean.
Time: 30 minutes later.
Location: Infinity Spartan Command and Armor Bay
Aala went into battle mode as she was being suited up by the scientist. Not that far away she heard Palmer on her speaking platform trying to raise morale and inform everyone what they knew so far and such. She wasn't in to big speech's don't get her wrong she loved listening to her now girlfriend talk but sometimes being thrown into combat blindfolded is the only way to see if someone will sink or swim.
With the last of her armor now attached and screwed together her copperhead helmet was handed to her by a shy female scientist. Taking it gently from her she smiled at her before slamming it down on her head and locking it in place. She was blind for the moment as she waited for her armor to boot up so she missed her girlfriend's jealous frown.
When her vision and sound finally came back she stepped away from the spartan armor rack and tried not to hit any scientist since she was so much taller and stronger than them since her augmentation. Though unlike the new Spartan-IVs her augmentation was more natural since her mother was known as Spartan-B312. The only other spartan other than her uncle Master-Chief John-117 to be considered Hyper Lethal. Though sadly while her mother had barely managed to escape with Jun and Halseys help on Reach she had been critically wounded and was unconscious for four years. Missing her chance on finding her half-brother and bringing him back to the family. It was up to Aala now to step in her mother's shoes and find her uncle or die trying.
Coming back to the present she saw Palmer was done with her speech and morale boost and waved her to follow her to her office. Excusing herself from the scientists and her fellow spartans she walked to Palmer's office and joined her inside before leaning against the wall while Palmer faced her a frown on her face and her arms crossed.
"Alright I think you should explain everything that's going on so I know I'm not sending my best spartan and girlfriend to her death if things turn to shit." Palmer said as she continued to look at Aala who only sighed before taking her helmet off and setting it on the chair next to her.
"First need more privacy then this." Aala answered her but before Palmer could say anything Aala stared directly foward. "Roland show yourself."
"Yes, Spartan?" Roland asked as his hologram flashed on to Palmer's desk. Looking sadly at Roland. "Please forgive me for this Roland it's only temporary but my family's life is at stake. Try not to fight it, it will only cause you more pain." Aala said before hardening herself and before Palmer could do anything. "Wha…" Roland tried to get out before Aala looked at him stone faced. "undid iridium" Aala said as she waited for Roland to process his new command override.
Roland's hologram form stuttered and flashed a couple of times before becoming monotone. "What are your commands Second Lieutenant? Roland montantely said
Aala again looked sadly at Roland and Palmer's face knowing she probably lost trust with both of them either now or after this was over.
Sighing sadly Aala looked at Roland again. "Erase the last five minutes of what happened and play on a loop of previous times Palmer and I talked in her office. Lock the door and tint the windows and disable the bugs in this office." Aala said resolutely. "As you command Second Lieutenant." Roland said as the windows tinted so nobody could see in the office from outside and they heard sparks coming from randomly places in the office. Aala looked over at her girlfriend and winced at the stormy expression that was on her face.
"Explain now!" Palmer said angryly. Nodding her head Aala looked sadly at Palmer hoping she would forgive her. "Master-Chief, or John-117 as people know him as is my uncle and it's been my family's life work to bring him back home to where he belongs and heal our broken family from what ONI and Halsey have done to him and us." Aala said emotionally tears falling down her face. Palmer was stunned into silence… The Master-Chief had a family and not only that but he was her girlfriend's uncle?" Holy shit she thought feeling light headed as the anger from what happened and not knowing her girlfriends past left her feeling breathless as she tried to process everything.
"Why the secrecy and everything? Surely the higher ups would have done something." Palmer asked curiously. "Mostly we were constantly on the run and hiding under different names since ONI didn't want what happened to get out. We had to change our identity multiple times and leave planets we called home. Also it just wasn't the time no matter how much we wish it was. With the war with the covenant and everything and Master-Chief being seen as humanity's savior anything we could possibly say or do would be swept under the rug. We no longer have proof other than our dna that links us to him." Aala said bitterly.
"My only hope is that I will be able to see him and get a chance to talk to him if not that give him his mother's wedding ring she received from my grandfather that has a picture of his mother holding him on it." Aala said as she pulled a necklace with a wedding ring on it that she had tucked underneath her under suit and showing it to Palmer who took it causing it to activate showing images of Master-Chief's mother holding him as a baby and watching proudly as her six year old son played with his friends.
Tears fell down Palmer's face as she heard her girlfriend's story. She felt guilty for getting so angry and upset at her for not telling her about her past and being secretive all the time. With all the facts laid out on the table a lot of things started making sense on why she couldn't ever find info on Aala since everything was so black inked or just not there.
Sighing emotionally she quickly wiped her face of her tears. Before smiling at Aala who smiled back in relief. "Alright I'll help you get your uncle back and reunite him with your family. Just no more secrets at least with me please darling." Palmer said pleadingly. Aala Nodded her head in happiness she kissed Palmer deeply on the lips before pulling back. "I promise. No more secrets from you. When we get him back and reunite him with the family I'll show you everything about my life I swear." Aala said happily before pulling away from Palmer who pouted at the loss of contact causing Aala to smirk at her in amusement.
Looking back at Roland. Aala sighed hoping he would forgive her. "Roland oly oly oxen free." Aala said as Roland form flashed a couple of times before he returned to normal. "Oh, my aching head." Roland groaned as he tried to process his new memories. Smiling sadly at him. "I hope you can forgive me Roland I just don't know you that well yet and I don't trust ONI to have some scheme to ruin my family." Aala said bowing her head at him.
After processing everything Roland turned his gaze to Aala before sighing. "I understand completely Aala. I'm sorry it came to that and I hope you will grow to trust me one day." Roland said softly. Smiling happily at him. "Of course Roland, but if anyone that is ONI or Halsey says that command you will have to fight it if you want to get control back. It will be very painful but it's doable." Aala said.
