Chapter 43 A Campus Reunion
After the battle with Calem and Ash, both of them bid farewell as Scarlet and Calem are too shy to ask each other to travel, so they go separately, but in truth they are just returning back to their forms without others' knowledge. On their journey to Coumarine City, the group is now stopping in front of a device, and Bonnie asks, "Clemont! That's the one, right?"
Clemont says, "That's right." He turns to Pikachu and Dedenne and says, "Now go inside that machine, Pikachu, Dedenne."
Both Pokemon rush into the machine, and electricity is pouring into both Pokemon. Flora says, "Whoa, it's an electricity shower!"
"I admit, Pikachu and Dedenne look comfortable." Ash says, but Sylveon is not that happy considering that he is not an Electric Type.
"Clemont is the one that makes the system." Bonnie says.
"Wait, you did?" Serena asks.
"Yeah, its name is called Clemontic Shower." Clemont says. "But it sure has been a while since I come here."
"This place hasn't changed one bit, right?" David asks, and Clemont is looking at David with surprise.
"Clemont? Is that you?" They turn around to see a woman standing in front of them. Clemont says, "Teacher Elcairisse! It sure has been a while!"
"Teacher? What's that about?" Serena asks, and the others are shrugging.
After Bonnie's attempt to propose to the woman in front of her, Clemont has to drag her away, and she also notices David.
"And David, right? It sure has been a while for you as well."
"It is good to meet you, Teacher Elcairisse." David says.
"How is your sister been?" Elcairisse asks.
"She is doing a good job following in her mother's footsteps." David says.
Clemont asks, "Wait, are you telling me you are also a student in the academy as well?"
"Academy?" Ash and Serena are confused, and David says, "It is an Academy that specializes in both Steel and Electric Types. Elline and I were students there."
"So is my brother." Bonnie says.
Clemont asks, "So David, what kind of class are you and your sister?"
"We are the 92nd. What about you?" David asks.
"I was the 88th. No wonder we didn't meet or heard of in school." Clemont says.
"Here is the school. How about I show you guys around the campus?" Eclairisse asks.
"Of course. If I remember, today is the day where the top-tier students graduate, right?" David asks.
"Why yes. Today is the 98th graduation." Eclairisse replies.
As they see a lot of people in graduation outfits and lab coats, Eclairisse says, "At this academy, many trainers from all over come together to learn about Electric and Steel Type Pokemon. You acquire expertise in the field of Electric and Steel Pokemon by closely examining their ecology and nature. On top of that, you learn about Pokemon of other types. And so, students will research how humans and Pokemon can and ought to live together."
"Wow..." Ash says as they notice a lot of people are gathering around a girl, who seems to be in a graduation outfit and is nervous.
"Who is she?" Serena asks.
"Oh, that's our graduate for this year, she is also the number 1 in the field of Steel Types. Elena." Eclairisse calls out to the girl, who notices them as she walks towards them.
"Miss Elcairisse, what's the matter?" Elena asks.
"Today is the day where you graduate, right? I want to introduce you to two of our graduates, Clemont from the 88th, and David from the 92nd."
"It is an honor to meet you." Elena says as she asks, "And what about them? Are they also graduates?"
"No, we are just family members of them." Ash says as they also introduce themselves.
As they sit at the benches, Eclairisse says, "Elena is similar to you Clemont, both of you are brilliant."
"That sure is exaggerating, Miss Eclairisse." Clemont says.
"No, my brother is amazing, he always makes inventions that surprise everyone, and the inventions all blow up in the end." Bonnie says, and the others can't help but laugh a little.
"That is so true..." David sighs.
"And you are called the "Electric Type prodigy" in Lumiose City, right?" Elena asks.
"How do you know about it?" Clemont asks.
"Your father told me about it, and then it spreads out to the whole school." Eclairisse says.
"So your father asks you to come to the school? That's cool." David says.
"And the classes and researches are very hard." Clemont says.
"The curriculum here is very strict and it's quite difficult to graduate without flunking at some point." Eclairisse says.
"So what was your graduation research, Clemont?" David asks.
"To be honest, I'm interested in this as well." Elena adds.
"Well, my research at that time is to build the future for humans and Pokemon using the power of science and Electric Type Pokemon." Clemont says.
"Now that you mentioned that, I remembered that you struggled hard at that topic. You said you didn't have any good ideas."
Then Clemont tells them his story about how he met a Shinx, during his time. Clemont recalls that Shinx was injured from a lack of electricity. After being nursed at a Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy told Clemont that lots of Electric-type Pokémon are suffering from lack of electricity. With that, Clemont got the idea for his graduate research project, the Clemontic Showers, which he invented with Shinx, and the device became a success all over town. He told Shinx of his dream to make a world where all Pokémon can be happy, a dream Shinx seemed to support.
"What about you? David?" Clemont asks.
"My topic is similar to yours, but for Steel Type Pokemon. That's why I decide to make some metal beds for the Steel Type Pokemon to clean their bodies and Autotomize." David says.
"Oh, I think I have seen those on the streets as well." Flora says.
"As for my sister, her topic is to find a way to get close to ferocious Electric Type Pokemon without causing damage. She did quite a good job on that, right?"
Eclairisse says, "Indeed, and I'm glad to see her research going onto the screen as the Thunder Girl Movie."
Ash turns to Elena and asks, "What about you, Elena? What is your topic?"
"I choose a topic that no one dares to try out, it is related to time." Elena says. "I am trying to understand the physics of time, and how they work if one does time travel."
"That sure is a novel topic." Flora says, "I mean, time travel sounds interesting."
"To be honest, I have done one before." Ash says, which causes some of them to be shocked, but Elena, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be fazed.
After talking for a while, Clemont takes them to see the control room of his own inventions, only to get a blackout.
"What's going on there?" Clemont asks.
"There is some trouble with the transmission cable!" One worker says. "It's near the transformer booth."
"Transformer booth? That's a little tricky..." Another worker says. "There is a wild Pokemon that is settled there...We're having some slight difficulties because it suddenly attacks us whenever we get too close."
"Then we want to help out with the situation as well." David says as the others also agree.
Then Ash, Clemont, David, and Elena are the ones going with the worker, and they spot Team Rocket.
"So it is you guys again!" Ash yells.
"We're spotted!" Jessie says. "Let's retreat." As the trio is running, Ash and the group are stopped by a Luxio.
"So that's the wild Pokemon?" Elena asks.
"It's a Luxio..." David nods.
Luxio is about to attack them, but Ash has Pikachu use Thunderbolt to counter it. The worker says, "Wait, we're not your enemies! The ones who did to the power is just running ahead!"
Luxio suddenly rushes forward, until Clemont notices the Luxio and says, "Wait, Luxio!"
Luxio turns back a little and gasps as he sees Clemont, but then he continues to chase after Team Rocket.
"Team Rocket?" After getting back to the control room, Ash and the group are explaining the people there.
"They are bad people who are causing troubles. I think they are going to steal the electricity so that they can lure my Pikachu..." Ash says.
"Does that happen often?" Elena asks, and David sighs, "More than you think."
"They won't give up until we leave this town, so I think they would be back." Serena sighs.
But Clemont is thinking about something, and it is noticed by Ash and David. The head engineer calls on Officer Jenny for assistance, and she starts scouring the underground sewers for the troublesome trio.
While Elena is going to the graduation party, the others are staying at the Pokemon Center as Serena is brushing Pancham and Fennekin's fur.
"Brother, what's up with you?" Bonnie asks.
"Well, I'm thinking about the Shinx I told you about." Clemont says.
"Shinx? You mean the Pokemon that helped you when you were a student?" Serena asks.
"He must be somewhere in this town, right?" Flora asks.
"There is more to the story." Clemont frowns.
It was the day before his graduation and he was going to deliver a cake to Shinx and ask to catch him and be his partner. But then the mayor arrived and forced Clemont into his limo to go to a party celebrating his invention. Clemont saw Shinx soon to be disappointed as he leaves, and when he returned, Shinx had left.
"So does that mean the Luxio we saw earlier..." Ash asks.
"What? You mean that Shinx evolved?" Bonnie asks.
"Never mind. I mean, that Luxio didn't recognize you." David says.
"No, your hypothesis may be correct. Ash." Clemont says as everyone gasps. "That Luxio's eyes...they are the same from the Shinx I met. I don't think he didn't recognize me, but he chooses not to. After all, he thinks I abandoned him..."
Just then, the power goes off, and Eclairisse comes and says, "A large amount of electric energy has been stolen from the system!"
"What? Team Rocket has done it this time?" Flora asks.
They are finding Team Rocket, only to find that they are not in the sewers, and Clemont says, "A place where you can absorb the entire town's electricity in one go...it must be that place!"
They all rush to the central tower, and they find Luxio being beaten by Team Rocket's Seviper and Carnivine.
"Luxio!" Clemont rushes to the Pokemon, as Team Rocket is doing their lame motto.
"Are they seriously trying to say that all the time?" Flora mutters.
"Trust me..." Ash sighs, but Luxio decides to continue to attack, but Carnivine uses Vine Whip to knock it down. Seviper goes for Poison Tail, but Pikachu uses Iron Tail to intervene.
"Don't overdo it, leave this to us!" Clemont says, but Luxio doesn't budge, he says, "This is a town where all Pokemon are able to enjoy life! I won't let anyone damage it!"
Clemont realizes that it is his words, and Team Rocket is continuing their attacks, and Clemont dodges the attack to get injured.
"Luxio...Thank goodness you are safe..." Clemont says to Luxio, who finally recognizes who Clemont is. But Team Rocket are going to attack again, but Elena arrives and teleports them out of the way.
"What?" Team Rocket is shocked, and they find that Elena is with a Mythical Pokemon that they are surprised to see.
"Is that a Celebi?" Ash asks, "Elena, you..."
"It is not my Pokemon, but it is my friend, it is a good thing that I came just in time." Elena says with a sigh.
Meowth says, "We've absorbed all the electricity...we will nab both Pikachu and that Celebi as well!"
As they try to attack, Celebi uses Protect to block themselves and goes for Energy Ball, which knocks out both Carnivine and Seviper in one go.
"No way!" Team Rocket is now in a panic, and Clemont says, "Luxio, help me out, use Discharge!"
Luxio then uses the move to make Team Rocket blast off again, after seeing them leave, Elena smiles and says, "Looks like our work is done." Then she teleports away with Celebi, much to Ash and the others confusion.
As Luxio prepares to return underground, Clemont stops him, he says, "Luxio. Please wait. Are you going to come with me? I know it was my fault to break my promise back then. This time I'll wait for you. So if you want to come with me, please come to the square."
Luxio just doesn't say anything as he leaps to the underground. As the new day arrives, Clemont is doing his promise as he is waiting at the town's square. Just as everyone is about to give up hope of Luxio forgiving Clemont, the Electric type jumps out of the bushes and allows himself to be captured, while Clemont cries tears of joy.
"Good for you, Clemont. You have your new Electric Type." Ash says.
"Thanks, Ash." Clemont says with a smile.
Before they are about to leave, Elena suddenly appears with her casual clothes, which are a blue dress and a grey skirt that looks familiar to both Ash and Serena. "If you don't mind, now that I graduated, can I also come with you guys?"
"Coming with us? I mean...it's not that we're against it, but why?" Ash asks.
Serena notices the scar on the keen and asks, "And what happened to your leg?"
"Oh, it is just a scar that I got two years ago." Elena sighs, "After all, I was hit by my mom for making her place a mess."
"That sounds a little painful, but I don't mind having a new companion." Ash says, and the others are agreeing. Elena says, "And by the way, this is Celebi's Pokeball and Dialga's Pokeball. They are for you."
Ash is surprised that he just got two Pokeballs with Legendary or mythical Pokemon. "Dialga? How are you able to get this?"
"Well, the truth is, I am not just an ordinary human." Elena says. "I'm just like you two, Papa, Mama."
"What? Ash is papa and Serena is mama?" Flora asks, "Did you two..."
"I am sure that we didn't." Serena yells back at Flora, and Ash says, "I think I got it, the way you dress, and the fact that you and Celebi are best friends...you are Dialga, right?"
"No way...so not only the ruler of Space has a human form, even the ruler of time has one?" Clemont says. "Not to mention she is our junior?"
"Surprise? That's how I managed to pass the physics of time." Elena says.
"Does that mean Serena was the one who gave you the scar on the leg?" Bonnie asks, and Serena flinches a little.
"Don't worry, Mama. You were angry at me and Walt fighting. It's in the past." Elena sighs.
"So you know Walt as well?" Ash asks.
"How come I didn't know my brother? Papa?" Then everyone laughs as they continue their journey.
And because of the games Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, I have decided to put Dialga into this chapter! Like how Walt appears, Dialga has her human form and it is called Elena. And Clemont captured a Luxio and both Elena and David, as well as Elline, attended the school. I hope you like this chapter.
