A/N: Hi! I'm back! It hasn't even been a month! Aren't you proud of me? Anyways, new chapter! This one is also shorter because I didn't want to do a 3-tribute chapter. It would have taken forever. Anyway, I've been promising the creator of this tribute to do Caspian for ages, so here he is! Hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer- I do not own THG.
Caspian Gallofall, 16, District 12
Caspian Gallofall rolled his eyes in amusement. His best friend, Dexter Everwillow, was goofing off again. At least this time it wasn't in class.
"Cas, look at this!" Dexter then attempted to do a one-handed cartwheel. And subsequently failed to do said cartwheel.
"Gaaaaah! I really thought I had it that time!" Dexter said, shaking out his hand.
"Don't worry Dex, you'll figure it out soon." Caspian said, patting his friend on the back, "I can't even do a regular cartwheel." he reassured as an attempt to console Dexter.
"Yeah, because you haven't tried," Dexter grumbled, "If you did, you would be great at it."
"You flatter me." Caspian chuckled, "Now come on, we're expected to be back soon for chores hour."
"Uuuugh. Chores." Dexter let out a long, dramatic sigh, but limped after Caspian when he started walking back to the orphanage. Neither of them really liked calling it the orphanage, so they called it the group home, which to be honest wasn't much better. At least it didn't have 'orphan' in the name. However, the adults always got mad when they called it the group home, so they could only call it the group home when they were alone.
When they got back, they were immediately spotted by the head of the group home, Mrs. Blayne, who stormed over to them.
"Where were you?" she shouted angrily, "You were supposed to be back 20 minutes ago!"
Caspian stepped in smoothly. "We were told that we had to be here at 3:30, because classes end at three. We came here ten minutes before we were told to be back, so we could get a head start on our chores. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience that this might have caused you."
Mrs. Blayne softened, as she always had a soft spot for Caspian. Dexter, not so much, but she would be a bit more lenient with him if he was with Caspian.
"All right then boys, you go ahead now. Here's your list of chores, both of you. You best work hard so that you aren't late for afternoon activities."
"Thank you so much Mrs. Blayne." Caspian said sincerely, for he truly hated when someone was cross with him or his friend, "Come on Dexter, we need to hurry!"
Dexter, who had a slight limp, hurried as fast as he could, because afternoon activities were always his favorite part of the day. By the end, he would have a crowd of kids around him, watching him goof off and do tricks.
Caspian did his chores thoroughly and with care, while Dexter rushed through his. Soon, Dexter ran outside to join all the other kids, while Caspian was only halfway through his list. However, Caspian knew that Dexter would end up having to redo most of his chores once Mrs. Blayne finished inspection later that night.
Once Caspian finished all of his chores, he went outside to see what was going on. As usual, there was a crowd around Dexter, and, as usual, Dexter was goofing off. Caspian made his way over there, but since he didn't want to be rude, he stayed in the back of the crowd instead of pushing to the front. Caspian was tall anyways, so he could see perfectly fine. A couple minutes later, Dexter attempted to do a one handed cartwheel again. And failed. Again. Dexter got back up, red faced, and got back into position. Caspian somehow knew that something bad was about to happen, but he couldn't tell what. In what seemed like slow motion, Dexter put his hand behind his back, steadied himself, and started the cartwheel. Caspian saw that Dexter's arm was way too bent, and unless he wanted to break something, Dexter would have to put his other arm down. But Dexter was too proud to do that, and Caspian knew that Dexter wanted to show everyone that he could do it. In midair, Dexter's arm gave out. He fell to the ground with a thump and a crack.
"Dexter!" Caspian shouted frantically, "Dexter, are you all right?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Landed on my arm though. Don't think I broke it, so that's good!" Dexter said with forced optimism. It was obvious that he was in pain. He checked his arm. "Actually, I think I broke it." he said, and then passed out.
"Oh no, oh no. Dexter, are you alright? Dexter? Hello? Ohnoohnoohno." Caspian was starting to hyperventilate.
"Ok," he said, trying to take control of the situation, "You there-" he pointed to a younger kid, "-get Mrs. Blayne. Quickly!"
The kid nodded, and ran off.
"You three-" he pointed to three of the older kids who looked strong, "-I need you to help me carry Dexter to the Everdeens' house. What are your names?"
"Jesper."
"Derek."
"Sarah."
"Ok. I'm Caspian. Derek and Jesper, I want you two to take his legs. Sarah, you and I will take his arms."
Derek and Jesper took Dexter's legs, and Sarah and Caspian grabbed his arms.
"Sarah, be careful," Caspian said nervously, "take his arm closer to the shoulder. Otherwise he could dislocate it, and then he'd have both arms injured."
Sarah changed the position of her hand, blushing furiously. Caspian didn't notice. Once he looked at Dexter's broken arm, he discovered that he might have a problem. He couldn't grab the arm, because that would be too painful. But if the arm was left to dangle about, that wouldn't be good either. Then, he had an idea. He would make a splint, so that Dexter's arm could dangle straight down instead of flopping everywhere.
Caspian looked around for a couple of sticks that were big enough, but then he realized that he needed something to bind it with. He waved one of the younger kids over.
"Hey, what's your name kid?" he asked gently.
"Bobby." the kid said.
"Well Bobby, can you please go get me some cloth and heavy duty tape?"
Bobby nodded and scampered off. Caspian chuckled. The younger kids were so cute.
A minute later, Bobby came running back.
"Here ya go mister."
"Thanks Bobby." Caspian said, and ruffled Bobby's hair.
As quickly as he could, Caspian made the splint around Dexter's arm. It wasn't fancy, but hopefully it would work. He positioned himself at Dexter's side, and said, "Ready? One, two, three, LIFT!"
A/N: MWAHAHAHA I'm evil. Don't worry, you'll see how Dexter is at the Reaping. In case you were wondering, the Reaping, Interviews, and Bloodbath will be all-tribute POVs, meaning a 100-500 word blip about each of them. Also, I just realized that I used a lot of exclamation marks in my first A/N, which is kinda out of character for me. Whatever. Anyway, Caspian was created by the wonderful CalvinHobbsGatsby, who has been very engaged with this story, so thank you. I hope you liked Caspian! I'm starting a sponsor thing so that you guys can interact with the story and also so I get more reviews. You don't understand how much I love reviews. SO. I haven't completely finished the sponsor system, but it should be up on my website soon. (link on my profile, go check it out) What I do know is that following and favoriting gets you 5 points, submitting character(s) gets you 10 points per character, giving me a short review gets you 5 points, giving me a long review (not including questions below) gets you 10 points, and answering the questions below gets you 5 points per question. So, here are the questions!
1. Who has been your favorite character so far and why? (you can say yours, but please give an explanation that isn't because I created them)
2. What District would you want to be in and why?
3. Would you volunteer? Why or why not?
As always, please submit a character, the forms are on the website. I didn't get any new characters last time, which made me sad. PLEASE submit characters. I love getting to bring them to life. (or at least trying to lol)
Hope all of you are safe and healthy, and wow is this A/N long. Till next time!
-Annabeth
