Aizawa sat across from Nezu as they were going over plans for the upcoming school. He looked out the window and saw Watatsumi and Aoyama walking through the grounds.
"I've never gotten a straight answer from you. What is Watatsumi's quirk? Or are you going to tell me that the crab over there is the actual god of the sea Watatsumi, because at this point, I might believe you that she's an ancient water god."
"Nothing quite that Earth shattering as gods walking among us. She just has a very particular quirk. It's certainly a powerful one, but at the end of the day it's just another quirk. All for One can take quirks, One for All can give them, and Watatsumi can create them."
"What?! How's that remotely possible?!"
"Well, whenever she is in extraordinary danger and she doesn't have the tools to defend against the threat, her quirk creates a new one that can protect her. So really, if she had been left alone they would likely have very few quirks that did the bare minimum. But, when fishermen discovered a crab they couldn't kill, well they decided they just needed to try harder."
"There's no way that ended well."
"You're correct! In fact, it kept escalating until the Japanese government spent nearly a decade trying everything they could to capture or kill this creature. It only stopped once she acquired the intelligence quirks needed to understand the situation and negotiate an end to bloodshed."
"And all that time they spent trying to destroy Watatsumi only made her stronger with every attempt. No wonder she's so strong. Any chance we can convince her to be a hero?"
"I have tried, but I doubt anyone would be able to convince her to do more than follow the whims of whatever interests them at the moment. Right now she wants to explore the world and make friends, and I think we shouldn't interfere with that."
"I guess you're right. I hope we never end up on the wrong side of those claws."
Watatsumi was walking around campus with Aoyama and talking about fashion together. He truly did have the best ideas for how to be as shiny as possible. He had also suggested she take some ideas from an old movie and cover her shell in gold coins to be as sparkly as possible.
All of a sudden her fashion buddy paused and looked into the middle distance.
"What are you looking at? I don't see anything there?"
"Oh, I just like staring at the viewers sometimes to freak them out. Well, I suppose in this case they are readers instead of watchers."
"Are they dangerous?"
"No, they just like to watch when interesting things happen, so I try to look my sparkliest for our audience."
"I don't like being watched without my permission, I'm going to go check it out."
Watatsumi dragged a claw down through the empty air, causing a rip to form as space itself was split apart.
"Au revoir! Let me know how it goes!"
Watatsumi crawled through the rapidly closing tear and found themself in a suddenly very different place.
It was far less impressive than she anticipated. There were numerous paths available, but when she chose yours it was far more drab than expected for a being that could peer into their reality.
It was odd, the human in front of them didn't seem to even notice Watatsumi's arrival. As they scuttled around you they found that you were staring into the glowing rectangle. It took a moment, but they eventually remembered Izuku's explanation of the internet and how people access it. So many things had been explained that it was easy to forget some of them.
So these humans use the internet to spy on other worlds? But they can't sense when a being from another world is right in front of them?
Looking at the screen filled with word's, Watatsumi realized that you were aware of them. Even if you couldn't see them with your eyes, all of their actions, and even their thoughts, were written out in front of you.
Watatsumi got as close as possible and prodded your right cheek with a claw that was wet and cold to the touch to see if this human would react to it.
Well, that answered that question.
"Hello, weird human from another universe? Can you hear me?"
After a moment Watatsumi spoke up again. "I've been told it's rude to read minds without permission, so you should either answer my questions out loud or consent to me just reading your mind."
"I'm assuming that means you're okay with the mind reading."
"Interesting. Your world is very similar but very strange at the same time. There seems to be an utter lack of quirks, but your technology is slightly more advanced. And you believe our world to be completely fictional."
"Well, there are other 'readers' I wish to visit, so I'll be on my way, human. I can only be in this realm for so long, and I want to visit all of you at least once."
Watatsumi looked over your shoulder and poked you again. "Why aren't there more words on the page anymore? Does that mean our conversation is ending?"
"What do the boxes at the bottom mean? I assume that the chapter buttons let you view events of the past, but what is 'reviews'? What are you reviewing?"
"That is very helpful information. Thank you." Watatsumi plunged a claw into your screen and began crawling through your computer screen and into the comments section to look around.
