Aftermath

The conflict that occurred in Takame ended and Reddo Toga was dead. The plan to take on the Seireitei directly had died. The residents of Takame were conversing with each other about the situation that had occurred. Ramza was walking and looked around seeing the people talk. Some saw Ramza and spoke to him thanking him for the actions he took. Ramza nodded and was grateful for the words. Ramza was relieved seeing that the people here were unharmed. Ramza walked and saw the group of Shinigami talking to each other. Ramza figured that they were talking about the incident.

"Look we're grateful that you two showed up when you did," Tomita said, "but don't give me grief over it."

"You and the others went off on your own," Yosuke said, "the problems you faced could've been prevented if you weren't such in a rush. Your captain is not going to be happy with you."

"Hey, you let me worry about my captain," Tomita replied, "it has nothing to do with you… although I guess it so easy for you to run your mouth since you're in the First Division."

"It doesn't matter what division that I'm here," Yosuke pointed out, "this is a matter of protocol."

Ramza looked on and then went on his way. As he was walking, he heard voices. He looked and saw Satsuki and Takeshi.

"You lied to me!" Takeshi said upset.

Ramza was shocked as he was seeing what was going on between the two. Takeshi was very upset and Satsuki had a sad expression.

"Please understand Takeshi," Satsuki pleased.

"What is there to understand?" Takeshi replied, "You've been lying to me from the start. I can't believe this. You're actually a noble and you're the sister of that witch who helped caused the tragedy here ten years ago."

"It's true that I'm from the Akechi family but what my sister has done has nothing to do with me," Satsuki said, "I was never in favor in what they have done. Their way of doing things is why I left in the first place."

"How am I supposed to believe you when you deceived me?" Takeshi replied angrily.

"Please Takeshi," Satsuki pleased again, "I'm sorry I lied to you. I didn't mean to. I was going to tell you eventually… I just…"

"Save it," Takeshi said as he turned around, "I don't even want to look at you."

"Takeshi…" Satsuki spoke feeling heartbroken.

"I'm going to go and live somewhere else," Takeshi said, "I don't want to live with a vile woman that lies."

"Takeshi, please," Satsuki pleaded again, "don't do this. I still care about you and want to still live with you."

"I don't believe you," Takeshi said coldly.

Takeshi quickly left and on his way, he saw Ramza who looked shocked and had a sad expression. Takeshi was caught off guard in the expression that Ramza gave but shook his head and went on his way.

"Takeshi," Ramza said sadly.

Ramza turned to Satsuki who looked heartbroken and was on the verge of tears. Ramza rushed over and comforted Satsuki who hugged Ramza and held on to him. Meanwhile Yashiro was standing within the place that was the base of the Toga Clan and he was depressed in what had happened.

"They were right," Yashiro said sadly, "they were right and I was the one who was blind."

"Yashiro, what do we do now?" One of the Toga followers asked.

Yashiro looked at the remaining Toga Clan members who all looked defeated.

"I don't know," Yashiro said sadly.

"There is no point in doing anything anymore," One of the men said, "in the end, Reddo Toga was nothing more than scum who was no different from those noble bastards and he was just using us. He actually tried to kill us along with the other residents here."

Yashiro faced the others and looked around.

"I think it's obvious by now," Yashiro said with a somber expression, "as of now, the Toga Clan is no more. We have no purpose and the leader is dead. Our goals are dead and we have nothing to look forward to."

"So that's it," One of the members said as he took his own sheathed sword and toss it on the ground, "in the end, the bastard only saw us as tools and jerked us around all this time."

The rest agreed and they sadly took their own sheathed swords and tossed them on the ground. They conversed on what they were planning to do and one by one, they all left. Yashiro was the only one left in the destroyed base. Yashiro held his own sheathed sword and tossed it on the pile.

"What do you want Brother?" Yashiro asked.

Yashiro looked and saw Yuji who was just standing.

"I just came to check on you," Yuji said, "I'm worried about you."

"Tch, why the hell are you worried about me?" Yashiro replied bitterly, "In the end you and others were right and I was the one who looked like a moron," Yashiro smiled, "surely you must be pleased how I failed and was made to look like a fool since I have insulted you and Yosuke."

"I take no pleasure in this," Yuji said, "neither does Yosuke. We're brothers and Yosuke and I will always be worried about you. I'm just glad that you're still alive and I know Yosuke feels the same way."

"Why?" Yashiro asked upset, "Why are you wasting your energy worrying about me? After the way I acted? After the way I insulted and talked down on you both. I called you a coward and called Yosuke a traitor. You should be happy that I failed and I was shown how much of a scum Reddo Toga was."

"It doesn't matter," Yuji said, "regardless of how it went, I don't feel happy that this happened to you and Yosuke feels the same way."

Yashiro clenched his teeth and he had sad expression and Yuji went and placed his hand on Yashiro's shoulder making the middle Matsuzaki brother feel shame. Yosuke came by with three Shinigami who had bags in their hands and Yosuke approached his brothers while the three Shinigami came and started to collect the discarded sheathed swords. The three brothers started to talk to each other. Sometime later on, the Shinigami started to leave the district with three Shinigami holding bags of the sheathed swords. Yosuke and Isshin looked at Ramza who was seeing them off. Yosuke went to Ramza and thanked him and Ramza nodded feeling grateful and Satsuki was there and waved at Yosuke. Yosuke waved back and then he saw Yuji nodding at his youngest brother. Yosuke nodded and smiled at his eldest brother. The Shinigami left the district and Ramza, Satsuki, and Yuji looked on and turned around and went on their way. Tomita turned and took a look at Ramza and narrowed his eyes at the blonde haired young man.

"It really is him," Tomita said in his head, "he's going to need to know."

Ramza noticed that Tomita was looking at him. Tomita quickly turned to the front and kept walking with the others. Ramza narrowed his eyes remembering how Tomita acted towards him.

Flashback

Tomita looked on and clenched his teeth as he pointed his sword at Ramza.

"You, who the hell are you?" Tomita asked.

"What?" Ramza asked confused.

"You heard me," Tomita said getting angry, "I demand that you tell me your name!"

"It's Ramza," Ramza said, "I'm Ramza Beoulve."

Tomita was shocked looking at Ramza, "So you're the one, the one that he mentioned."

Flashback End

Ramza suspected Tomita and he started to wonder if there was more people from Ivalice that were in the Soul Society especially when it was revealed that Reddo was in contact with someone named Gustav and he wondered if he was the same Gustav that was mentioned to him back when he, Delita, and Argath were pursuing him to save Elmdore. With everything that happened and what was revealed, he wondered if more people from Ivalice that he knew and was aware of that had arrived in the Soul Society. Meanwhile Kosei was looking on and saw the Shinigami leaving the district. Kosei smiled as he pushed up his glasses and he observed Ramza. He smiled and went somewhere. Back with Ramza, the young blonde haired man started walking and as he walked, he folded his arms and pondered. He greeted people on the way and people responded by greeting Ramza and were happy to see him. Ramza smiled and nodded at the people. As Ramza was approaching his small home, he saw Kosei who was standing with his arms folded. Kosei looked at Ramza and smiled.

"Hello Ramza," Kosei said.

"Kosei," Ramza said.

"Well it seems that it's all over," Kosei said as he unfolded his arms and approached Ramza.

"Yes it would seem so," Ramza said.

Kosei stopped and faced Ramza.

"A lot of guys were disheartened regarding Reddo," Kosei said.

"Yes," Ramza said with a nod.

"Well I myself came to say my goodbye," Kosei said.

"Huh, what do you mean?" Ramza asked.

Kosei smiled, "In truth, I was actually accepted in the Shin'o Academy. I'm actually going to become a Shinigami and live in the Seireitei."

"What?" Ramza replied surprised, "Wait Kosei, when did you get accepted in that academy in the Seireitei?"

"I took the entrance exam yesterday," Kosei said, "I passed it with flying colors."

"I don't believe this," Ramza said surprised, "is that where you went? To the Seireitei?"

"Yeah, of course I couldn't mention it to the others," Kosei said with a shrug, "you and I both know how they would have reacted."

"I see," Ramza said, "I guess this is it for you."

"Hmm, you know Ramza," Kosei said, "how about you do the same thing?"

"Huh?" Ramza replied.

"Become a Shinigami," Kosei said, "if you do that, I'm sure you can do a lot more than just being here. I intend to follow a path that will change things and help place something that is not there."

"Place something that is not there?" Ramza replied confused, "What do you mean by that?"

"Hmm, well if you want to know, become a Shinigami and you will see what I mean when I show you," Kosei said.

"I don't know," Ramza said.

Kosei placed his hand on Ramza's shoulder, "You're an interesting guy."

"Huh?" Ramza replied.

"I honestly didn't think you were much when we first met," Kosei said, "but you proved to me much more than that. You have skill and excellent spirit energy. I heard how you handled those… uh, what are they again?"

"Archaeodaemons," Ramza said.

"Yes that," Kosei said with nod, "I heard how you were able to take them on. I got say, I'm impressed. That's kind of thing that can get you in the Gotei 13 as a Shinigami. In fact, when you were alive as human, you were a warrior, right?"

"I was specifically a squire," Ramza said, "then a sellsword…"

"Squire?" Kosei replied confused, "Sellsword?"

"Oh uh… terms to describe as a swordsman," Ramza replied.

"Oh I see," Kosei said, "Anyway what do you say? Become a Shinigami and changes things for the better and not in the way that Reddo Toga advocated and of course with what I am going for, one cannot allow themselves to be complacent. Of course you would have to wait for a year since the entrance exam happened yesterday."

Ramza had a sad expression and shook his head.

"I don't think I would fit as a Shinigami," Ramza said, "but as for you Kosei, I… I will be rooting for you to succeed."

"Well thanks," Kosei said and looked at Ramza with a serious expression, "but are you sure you want to reject that notion? It's disgraceful to let talent go to waste."

"I'm not as impressive as you may think I am," Ramza said with a sad expression, "besides I believe it would be for the best to stick around here in Takame. I like the people here and some of the people here will need some help. I don't want to leave them."

"Hmm… well suit yourself," Kosei said, "but I would strongly recommend you to join the Gotei 13, just like I'm doing and what Yosuke did."

"Anyway, take care Kosei," Ramza said, "I wish you luck in your endeavor."

Ramza turned and walked away to go to his home. Kosei stood there as he watched Ramza leave and sighed.

"Oh well," Kosei said, "I suppose I should drop it for now," Kosei took something out of his robe and it was the three talisman and he grinned, "You were very useful Reddo. I'm sure I can use these to help Tosen and Aizen and their goals."

Kosei turned around and went on his way. Meanwhile Ramza entered his small home and was surprised to see that Satsuki was there.

"Satsuki?" Ramza spoke.

"Hi Ramza," Satsuki said with a sad expression, "Um, I'm sorry to come in here uninvited but I was wondering… can I stay for a while? I wanted to talk to someone and Yuji is helping Yashiro so I didn't want to bother him so I was wondering…"

"Sure Satsuki," Ramza said, "I don't know if I will be able to help but I can at least listen to you and do what I can."

Satsuki was touched by what Ramza said and started to tear up as she looked at Ramza with a smile.

"Thank you Ramza," Satsuki said.

Ramza and Satsuki sat on the floor and they began to talk to each other.

Seireitei

In one of the noble manors, Tamayo was sitting in a room with the muscular man with long black hair and beard. The two of them were facing each other as they were drinking tea that was brought to them by a servant.

"Reddo Toga is dead," Tamayo said.

"Hmph, so it would seem," The muscular man said, "now we won't have worry about that fool anymore," The muscular man chuckled, "he got what he deserved. The Toga family line is no more."

"Although from what Kazuya said, it seems that it was one of his own men that killed him," Tamayo said.

"Wait, is that true?" The muscular man replied surprised.

"That's what Kazuya said," Tamayo said, "that's what he heard from the youngest Matsuzaki."

The muscular man laughed in response.

"That's make Reddo even more pathetic," The muscular man said still laughing, "imagine that, killed by one of his own men. So not even the people in that district of Rukongai are immune to commit betrayal. How anyone can be even loyal to that trash is astonishing. But I guess it's the people there."

"Yes but now that our dear Reddo is out of the way," Tamayo said amused, "there is someone in that district that is of interest."

"Right," The muscular man said, "Ramza Beoulve which is why we can't let them recruit him."

"Yes otherwise he'll be problem," Tamayo said and she sighed and glanced to the side, "although we wouldn't have to be concern if you done your job properly."

"Yes and I am disappointed," The muscular man said with a frowned as he turned his head.

Tamayo and the muscular man were looking at the ninja who kneeled with his head down and it was the same ninja that had attacked Ramza.

"My apologies," The ninja said, "I'm sorry I failed to live up your expectations Lord Kenjiro."

The muscular man named Kenjiro scoffed in response and sipped his tea. He them placed his cup on the side.

"I expect results," Kenjiro said, "you're a servant of my house and you disgrace yourself by failing in your mission," Kenjiro sighed, "I will give you a chance to redeem yourself in dealing with Ramza Beoulve but for now, there is something else that I want you to do."

"Yes my lord," The ninja said, "I will begin my search for Gustav."

"See that you do and if anyone discovers you, kill them no matter who it is," Kenjiro said.

"As you wish my lord," The ninja said as he used Shunpo to leave.

"By the way," Tamayo said, "isn't he going to come by?"

"Oh about that," Kenjiro said, "he has a… family matter to deal with it so he'll be concentrating on that."

"I see," Tamayo said as she sipped her tea, "oh well. It seems that Kazuya is going to take a bit longer."

Meanwhile in the 6th Division Barrack, Kazuya Tomita was in the office of the Captain of the 6th Division and was facing his captain who was Ginrei Kuchiki.

"Kazuya, you do know why I summoned you here in my office," Ginrei said.

"Yes sir," Tomita said.

"Then I will ask you," Ginrei said, "Kazuya, why did you lead the party to the district in the Rukongai? I specially gave you the order to wait on my command but you ignored my order and went on your own taking the members assigned to the mission with you."

"I believed that you shouldn't be troubled with it sir," Tomita responded, "They were just rabble led that fool Reddo Toga. I didn't see any reason for you to have get involved."

"Kazuya, do you take me for a fool?" Ginrei asked glaring at Tomita.

Tomita was taken aback what Ginrei said as the 6th Division Captain glared at his subordinate. Outside of the office, the door opened and Tomita was walking out of the office very upset as his eye twitched. Some of the members of the 6th Division watched and Tomita quickly glared at them and the observing officers quickly left. Tomita clenched his teeth in frustration and went on his way. Ginrei stepped out of his office and stared at Tomita who was walking away.

"Fool," Ginrei said with disdain.

Ginrei spoke to some of the officers of his division and then he left the barracks

District 40 of West Rukongai, Takame

Ramza and Satsuki stepped out of Ramza's small house and they waved at each other. Satsuki nodded and smiled and went on her way. Ramza nodded and hoped that Satsuki would be okay. Ramza decided to take a walk in the district. Eventually Ramza arrived at the base of the Toga Clan which was abandoned. Ramza looked around and saw someone staring at the base and it was Yashiro.

"Yashiro," Ramza said.

Yashiro turned and saw Ramza.

"Oh it's you," Yashiro said, "you must be pleased."

"About what?" Ramza asked.

"With what had occurred," Yashiro said.

"Why would I be pleased about that?" Ramza asked.

"You saw how Reddo acted and how he really was," Yashiro said, "I didn't see it because I was blind," Yashiro shook his head, "No, that's not it, I think the thing is was that I knew what was really going on but I denied it and tried to justify it with what we were doing. It did me no good in the end."

Ramza looked on and stood next to Yashiro.

"I understand," Ramza said, "you probably won't believe me when I say it, but I wish things had gone differently."

"…I'm sorry Ramza," Yashiro said, "I'm sorry for the way I acted. I really didn't understand anything and yet I lashed out and insulted you."

"Don't worry about it," Ramza said, "I understand how you feel."

Ramza thought about when he and Delita were confronting Milleuda and Wiegraf with what was really going on with the nobility and the specifically, Ramza's older brothers. Ramza couldn't stand the fact that he was naïve and ignorant of what was really going on and wished that he had been truly aware of what was going on. He believed that if he had, maybe Delita's sister Tietra would still be alive. Ramza looked at Yashiro with a sad expression and Yashiro was surprised at the sad expression that Ramza was giving him and felt ashamed.

"Don't look at me like that," Yashiro said with a sad expression, "you don't need to look at me like that."

"My apologies," Ramza said, "I can't help it. So what do you plan to do?"

"I'll stay with Yuji," Yashiro said, "I don't know what I'll do from there."

"I see," Ramza said.

Yashiro turned around and left. Ramza watch Yashiro leave and then he looked up in the sky and pondered on the some things.

"Something still bothers me…" Ramza said.

Ramza was thinking about when he saw Reddo on the ground dead and there was Kosei explaining why he had to kill him. Ramza wondered where Kosei had been beforehand and then he remembered something that he spoke about before.

Flashback: One Week Ago

"Kosei, I want to ask you something," Ramza said.

"Hmm, what is it Beoulve?" Kosei replied.

"It sounds to me that you had already knew beforehand and yet you're still part of this," Ramza said, "I must ask, why is that?"

"It's a convenience for me," Kosei said.

"Convenience, what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Ramza responded confused.

"You'll know soon enough," Kosei said, "and that's all I'm going to say."

Flashback End

Ramza had his suspicions of Kosei for some time and the situation of Kosei killing Reddo added his suspicion of him further. Ramza folded his arms and was worried.

"I don't like having this feeling that I have," Ramza said in his head.

At the Kuchiki Manor, there was a boy who was doing katas with a wooden sword at an exterior area of the manor. The boy had black hair tied to a ponytail and was wearing his white gi and green hakama.

"Impressive, impressive," Ginrei's voice said, "you're really working hard Byakuya."

The boy named Byakuya stopped and wiped some of the sweat off of him and turned to see the old man and was happy to see him.

"Grandfather, what a pleasant surprise," Byakuya said happily, "Will you be staying here instead of your division's barracks?"

"Mm," Ginrei nodded.

"That's great," Byakuya replied with a smile, "it's been a while since we had our conversations. I'm looking forward to them."

Ginrei nodded, "So go ahead and finish up your training. You have a visitor."

"Huh, who?" Byakuya asked.

Byakuya got his answer when a pair of a woman's breasts suddenly rested on the side of Byakuya's head. Byakuya got annoyed fast as he knew exactly who it was.

"It's you were-cat!" Byakuya said angrily as he swung his wooden sword.

The woman that dodged the swing was a slender dark skinned female Shinigami with short dark purple hair and golden eyes and wore a haori over her Shihakusho. She was Yoruichi Shihoin, the Captain of the 2nd Division as well as the Supreme Commander of the Onmitsukido. Yoruichi did a back flip when she dodged Byakuya's sword swing with a laugh as she was amused and folded her arms looking at Byakuya.

"Were-cat?" Yoruichi responded, "That's not a nice thing to say to me and after all the trouble I went through to come over and play a game with you Little Byakuya."

"Silence!" Byakuya replied angrily, "When did I ever ask you to come to play?!"

Yoruichi just looked at Byakuya and continued to be amused.

"As the next head of the Kuchiki Clan," Byakuya continued, "I'm not interested in your games, they're not fun!"

"Oh really?" Yoruichi replied.

Yoruichi used her Shunpo and she took the hair band off of Byakuya's hair with a grin. Byakuya realized what had just happened and he got more agitated.

"Damn you!" Byakuya reacted as he swung his wooden sword again.

Yoruichi used Shunpo again and got some distance. She was laughing as she was waving the hair band she took off of Byakuya.

"I don't know about you but I fear for the future of the Kuchiki Clan if a girl can steal your hair band while just playing!" Yoruichi said amused.

Byakuya was twitching his eyebrow and he clenched his teeth.

"You stay right there Yoruichi Shihoin," Byakuya said, "You haven't seen my Shunpo yet."

"Byakuya Kuchiki, you've lost!" Yoruichi declared.

Yoruichi used Shunpo again and disappeared and Byakuya growled and was ready to do something about it.

"I see," Byakuya said calmly, "it appears that you really want to make me angry. Very well, then I will show you…" Byakuya looked on determined, "I will show you that my Shunpo is far superior to yours!"

Byakuya used his Shunpo to go after Yoruichi. Ginrei looked on seeing his grandson take off as he simply sighed.

"I swear that boy would improve so greatly if he just learns to control his temper," Ginrei commented and then he shrugged, "oh well, I better get some tea."

Meanwhile at the veranda of the Shiba Manor, a female servant had just handed two cups of tea to two Shinigami. One of them was a man with long white hair tied to a ponytail and had green eyes. He was Jushiro Ukitake, the Captain of the 13th Division. With him was a young man who was fairly tall. He had spiky raven black hair and aqua green eyes and he had tattoos on his arms. He was Kaien Shiba of the Shiba Clan.

"Thank you, that's perfect," Ukitake said with kind smile.

The servant blushed from Ukitake's words and smile and then left to continue with her duty as Kaien was blowing in his tea.

"I see that smile of yours is as powerful as always," Kaien said and then he took a sip of his tea and felt the heat, "Hot!"

"Anyway Kaien, about my offer…" Ukitake started.

"Do you want me to say it again," Kaien interjected, "I'm not going to serve as your lieutenant, Captain."

"Why are you being so stubborn?" Ukitake responded not liking Kaien's response, "I'm starting to take this personally."

"You know as well as I do there are lots of others who deserve the position more than me," Kaien explained.

"There you go again, you're always putting duty over friendship," Ukitake replied with a smile and then took a sip of his tea, "By the way, have you heard?"

"Hmm, about what?" Kaien asked.

"There is a prodigy among this year's recruits, the first one to show up since you."

"Believe me, I'm no prodigy," Kaien insisted.

Ukitake put his cup down by his side, "This individual was able to complete the curriculum of the Shin'o Academy in only one full year."

"Hmm, is that right?" Kaien asked amazed, "I admit that's impressive."

"I still can't quite believe it. From what I hear he's a kid, a boy who is about the same age as Captain Kuchiki's grandson, Byakuya."

"Oh, you mean the cocky one," Kaien replied.

"I know what you're saying," Ukitake replied, "The boy has talents of a man twice his age. I hear an officer's position will be set for him when he enters the division."

Kaien was amazed again, "Oh, well it looks like we got someone with quite a future," Kaien then smiled, "that should make my chances to fill a lieutenant's position even more unlikely."

"You don't have to sound so happy about it," Ukitake said bothered that Kaien would like the idea.

"So who is it?" Kaien asked feeling excited, "Who is the lucky division that is going to get the new recruit?"

"Well now," Ukitake replied, "from what I heard, he will be in the 5th Division."

Nightfall

At the open area of the 5th Division Barracks, the boy in a Shihakusho with short silver hair and his eyes closed stood over a dead Shinigami. The blade of his Zanpakuto was dripping blood and he even had some of the blood on the side of his face. The blood was not his own, it belonged to the Shinigami that he himself had just killed and had his signature wide mocking smile. Aizen appeared and he was pleased at what he saw.

"Nice, your skills are even better than what I was told," Aizen said being impressed, "What is your name again young warrior?"

"Gin," The boy introduced himself as he faced Aizen with his smile, "I am Gin Ichimaru."

"And how would you rate our third seat?" Aizen asked.

"Terrible, not even worth talking about," Gin replied.

"Interesting," Aizen responded liking Gin's answer, "glad to hear it."

Nine Years Later, Fugai District, Rukongai

It was night and the residents were screaming in agony as white substance came out of their mouths and eyes. Moments later, they exploded as white substance spewed out and five people looked on as they were protected by two large umbrellas. The one in the middle grinned in glee.

That's it for this chapter. Next chapter: Nine years pass and a new resident arrives in Takame that Ramza knows.
