I woke up, feeling a weight holding me down onto the bed.
After blinking the remaining sleep from my eyes, I saw the red vulpine's body pressed against mine as he was passed out on top of me, the both of us completely exposed. I looked down at his face, eyeing the relatively large slash along his lip which went straight down. "Damn," I sighed, realizing that I wouldn't be able to get out from underneath him without waking him up, mainly due to the only part of me being out from under him were my legs, arms, and head. Not only that, but his arms were also both trapping me as they were tightly set on either side of my upper torso.
I began rubbing the back of his head, thinking about what we had done the night before and how he acted a lot differently during our little... 'moment.' He seemed more animalistic and predatorial, well, he simply felt the opposite of what he usually was, which was more... caring.
Eventually, I felt him stir awake, looking up at me with a confused look until he looked down and I guess remembered what we had done. "Good morning," I told him with a smile while he looked back up at me. "Morning? Are you sure it's still morning," He asked me with a small smirk as we looked out the window, seeing that it was either almost noon or was noon. "Well, I haven't been able to check since you laid on me all night," I replied, feeling him push himself up and roll onto his back beside me with a sigh. "Thank you."
He groaned as he laid there, soon rubbing his eyes while I looked down seeing that the fur along my stomach was matted and knotted up. "I need to get dressed and go down to the bar. I was supposed to be down there earlier this morning," He said, sitting up and soon grabbing his shorts before he threw them on. "What do you need to do at the bar," I asked him, slowly getting up myself. "I was supposed to talk to Andy about a job," He replied as he walked over to the table and grabbed a red T-shirt and a pair of pants. "I'll be out in a few," he said as he went into the bathroom.
Around ten minutes later, he came out, dressed in his clean clothes. "Take as long as you want, you reek," he teased, jokingly holding his nose as he headed towards the door. "Yeah, no thanks to you," I said playfully as I got up to grab my clothes. "I guess I'll meet you down there," I told him, looking down at the blanket and my fur which were both either covered in our fluids or just incredibly messed up in general. "Alright, I love you," He replied as he got to the doorway and turned around to look at me. "I love you too. I'll see you in about an hour," I said, getting off the bed as he left.
I walked over to the table, grabbing some sweatpants and a white T-shirt before I went to the bathroom and set the clothes on the counter, soon cutting on the water in the tub. Eventually, I got in and washed up, having some trouble once in a while, but I soon managed to finally get out the tub and dry off after about half an hour. I put on my clothes and walked out the bathroom, before going over to the bed and pulling off the blankets and sheets, balling them up so I could easily carry them out of the bedroom.
I walked towards the stairs and climbed down them, hearing what sounded like Goldy and Ava in the entertainment room. "Okay, so this piece is mounted on the bracket," I heard Goldy say as I got down the stairs. "Where does the bracket go," The coyote asked as I walked into the room, carrying the ball of blankets and sheets as they both sat at the round table talking about something while they faced away from me. "It goes just before the ball joint," He replied, neither of them noticing me. "Hey, do you know where I can throw this at," I asked them as they turned around, a little confused.
"What happened," Goldy asked me with an expression of confusion as I pulled the ball up a little to cover my cheeks due to the blush running through them. "I spilled a little bit of my drink last night," I lied, seeing Ava eye me intently. Thankfully, Goldy appeared to buy it, though Ava seemed like she had a killer instinct. "The laundry room's down the hall to the right," Goldy replied, making me a little relieved since I could finally get out of Ava's suspicious gaze. I thanked him, leaving quickly as I carried the laundry ball into the laundry room.
I opened the door and flicked on the light switch, seeing multiple washing and drying machines stacked lined up against the back wall. I threw the ball into the washing machine, closing the door with a sigh of relief. I looked to my right and spotted a cabinet, which opened to reveal a few containers of detergent. After pouring a little bit of the detergent into the pour spout, I started the cycle after a few small beeps emitted from the machine. I turned off the light and left, making sure to stay out of Goldy and Ava's sight as I did. I began walking towards the town after I closed the door, spending the shrinking half-an-hour walk looking around with curiosity as I saw the different houses along the street. The majority of them were relatively large, featuring all types of stuff like decks, pools, or other outdoor recreation.
As I got to the town, I saw the streets were filled, as usual, stores were open, and the area was flooded with conversation. I made my way through the groups of people, soon getting to the bar and seeing that Foxy was fighting with a horse, ducking under the equine's right hook to which he slung his fist into their gut, forcing them to hunch over while the red vulpine proceeded to swing his left fist into the side of their jaw, sending them into the floor with a loud thump.
"I told you to get your ass out of here," The vulpine said to the horse, who was struggling to get to their knees. "Well, I see you've been having fun," I chuckled to the vulpine as he turned his head over towards me, growing a small smile. "I see you finally managed to get out of the house," He replied while I walked over to him and sat down at the bar behind him. "Well, I couldn't stay there all day," I told him with a smirk as he sat down beside me.
I looked around seeing the bar was somewhat full, though, not near the max capacity it could hold. I soon turned towards the counter, Andy walking over as he wiped off a glass. "What would you like," He asked me with a small smile as I thought for a second. "I'll just take a water," I replied to the hawk before turning over to the vulpine beside me. "So, I take it that it went well?"
The vulpine nodded. "I don't have a set schedule per se, but usually I'll be working a swing shift on weekdays; maybe later depending on how busy the bar is," He explained while Andy handed me the glass to which I thanked him. "Well, I guess I'll still have time to mess with you," I replied to the vulpine, smacking his back playfully. "Ow, my back still hurts after you scratched me up last night," He told me, leaning in with a low voice towards the end. "Not here," I said, a little frantically. "Fine," He said, leaning back with his hands put up in surrender as he laughed.
"So, are you working right now," I asked him, leaning against the counter-top. "Not officially right now, but I will be starting tomorrow," He replied, beginning to lean against the counter as well while he stared over at me. "I'm guessing you want to find something to do," I asked him, earning a nod as he continued looking at me. "I wonder if there's some type of show or something that happens around here. Like a theater," He said, a hint of boredom on his face as I sipped on my drink. "Well, we could ask Andy or go look around," I suggested, seeing him think on it for a second.
"Hey, Andy," The vulpine called to the bartender who was pouring a drink. "Are there any shows or anything going on around town today?" "Uh, I assume you're not talking about anything exotic, so probably not," Andy replied, leaving me curious about what he meant by 'exotic.' "What do you mean by that," I asked him as he turned over to us. "What," He asked, beginning to walk towards us. "What do you mean by 'exotic," I asked him again. "Pole dancing," He said simply. I wasn't sure what it was, but when he said it I saw the eyes of the vulpine beside me go wide. "Yeah, no, we aren't looking for something like that," He said, causing the avian to chuckle as he walked away.
"I'm still confused," I sighed, leaning against my arm as I sat on the stool. "Trust me, you don't want to know. And if we went, you'd probably murder me halfway through the door of the place," He told me with a slight chuckle. "Best I don't know then," I replied with a smirk before downing the rest of my drink. "So, I guess we're ready to go," The vulpine asked me while I set the glass on the counter. "Where would we be going," I questioned him, turning back over to him. "Eh, we could walk around the town as you said. Isn't like we have anything major going on today," He replied, standing up and taking my hand. Something about holding his hand felt so natural, like it was meant to happen.
The two of us left the bar hand-in-hand. Thankfully the water's free, because I forgot to even leave a tip like I usually do. We started walking down the street towards the park, talking about different topics as we strolled around. This continued for probably an hour, one of us seeing a cool building and commenting on it before we stopped talking and continued down the street to find a new building, eventually reaching the end to which we took a right and continued north.
"You know, I wonder what the others thought when I left with you," I said, walking beside the vulpine as his arm was wrapped around my waist. "They probably flipped," He chuckled, squeezing me against him a little while he did. "Well, I can't really help but think about it right now. Do you think that something may have happened to them," I asked, looking over at him as he stopped chuckling, looking deep in thought. "I hope not. Not even for Toy Freddy," He replied, turning his head towards me. "We honestly have no idea if something did, or did not, happen. Best not to dwell on it, though."
I pondered on what he said for a good five minutes as we walked around the town, I knew he was right when he said that, I mean, they were probably doing things no different without us, well, me more specifically as he was being sent off anyways. Though, I felt kind of guilty for leaving them there. They were left with one less person to help them perform during the days, especially for younger children as they were some of the hardest to keep entertained, their minds would wander off a lot. Then again, I'd assume that we're all alive as it is, so we came out arguably better than we would have if we had stayed.
'Sure beats being stuck in the same building for the rest of my life.'
"Want to grab something to eat," He asked me while we stopped in front of what looked like a restaurant. "Sure," I replied, the two of us walking in to see that it was a large room filled with tables that could seat two to four people at each, the size depending on where it was in the room. The two seated tables were beside the windows and near the walls; however, the four seated tables filled the main area of the room, allowing just enough space for patrons and employees to maneuver around in between them. The walls were painted white with different pieces of art lining them, though, they were mostly pictures that were framed up by the front counter which is where a cashier would run the register. The tables were a deep mahogany, polished to a shine underneath the fair ceiling lamps that sat overhead, one for each table.
I couldn't see into the back, but I could tell there was a room that was just behind the counter, which was where the kitchen was most likely. There was an amphibian of sorts manning the register at the moment, but it was pretty obvious it was run like a diner more than a fast food place, meaning you could simply find a seat and sit down to wait for a waiter or waitress.
The two of us settled on one of the tables beside the front windows, providing us a view of the busy street as people walked by, usually in groups of two to six. Granted, there was the occasional large party of people that looked like a typical group of high-schoolers, something I didn't have too much experience with, but got familiar with rather quickly due to how common they were in my later days of performing. Granted, it was a little under a month before we left, but I still learned a lot about humans during that time. After a few minutes of watching the groups passing by through the window, a waiter finally appeared. It was a raccoon that had some cuts along his eye as he wore a dress shirt and slacks.
"Hello, what would you like," The raccoon asked us with a somewhat flat tone while I noticed Foxy eyeing him. "What happened to you," He asked the waiter as he turned over. "I got jumped in an alley last night," He replied calmly before turning back to the notepad. "What do you want?" I looked over at the vulpine, soon realizing that neither of us had even bothered to check, soon asking the waiter to grab us some water as we looked.
"I feel like getting some chicken," The fox in front of me said aloud as I continued looking. "Yeah, only if the others could hear that," I replied to him with a slight giggle as he rolled his eyes at me. "We're robots, not actual animals," He retorted, leaning back in his chair as he began to ponder the idea. "I'd argue we'd be considered alive after all the stuff they've integrated into us that makes us life-like," I told him with a smirk as he stared at me. "Fair enough," He said, setting the menu down. "I'm saying we could probably get a platter tray and we can both eat off of that, seeing as there's a mix of everything," I suggested, seeing him think for a minute before agreeing.
The waiter eventually made his way back with the drinks, taking our order as well before going back towards the kitchen once again, leaving us to our own accord at the table. We both started talking about small stuff as we waited, glancing out the window every once in a while at the occasional fight. The people here just seemed to have no sense of justice. Either that, or maybe they just enjoyed beating each other to a pulp. "You know, I wonder if I could wear your coat," I said, looking over at the vulpine as he was sipping on his drink, soon seeing him grow a small smirk. "I think you'd be engulfed by it, the shoulders alone would make you look like you're underneath a blanket, then we consider the length and that it comes down to my knees…" He said, trying to prevent himself from laughing too hard. "That just means it's warmer," I replied, resting my hand over his as I joked along with him.
"Whatever floats your boat," He told me, taking another sip of the water. The waiter walked up out of nowhere, setting a plate on the table before walking off. "Well, that was sudden," I sighed, soon looking down at the plate which was filled with various appetizers and sides as steam was visibly rising off of it. "Couldn't agree more," He sighed, soon reaching over for something off the plate before yanking his hand back in a split second. "Shit, that's fucking hot," He exclaimed in a whisper-yell, just silent enough that no one noticed.
I stared at him dumbfounded. "How did you not expect it to be hot? Look at it," I told him, pointing at the steam rising off the plate. "It's not that I didn't expect it to be hot, I didn't expect it to be that hot," He replied as I dropped my face into my palm, muttering something under my breath. "You're something else," I told him, raising my face to see him, once again attempting to pick up something off the plate, this time managing to grab a breaded piece of something, tossing it in between his fingers a couple times before throwing it into his mouth. "It's pretty good," He said, covering his mouth with his hand as he did. "Well, at least you've learned some manners," I said with a slight smirk as I reached over and grabbed something myself, soon throwing it into my mouth as he did. "This is really good."
The two of us continued eating for a good thirty minutes, eating about one-third of the plate before we finally paid and left the restaurant, taking the rest with us in a couple of styrofoam containers. "Why don't we go lay down for a bit," He sighed as we neared the house, his hand wrapped around my waist as I leaned into his side. "We have no sheets at the moment," I replied, earning a confused sound as I saw him look down at me from the corner of my eye. "Why's that," He asked while we began walking up the hill. "Well, considering that they're in the wash getting de-stained, and I don't know if we have any more clean sheets, I think it's pretty obvious," I told him, the two of us continuing up the hill towards the house.
We walked into the front door, seeing Ava on the deck out of the window towards the back, but we both walked towards the bedroom. "Okay, I guess we need to find some sheets and blankets," Foxy sighed as I saw him walking around the room, pulling open drawers to the nightstands. "I'd assume they'd be in the laundry room," I said, leaving as I had an idea where they could be. Foxy trailed after me, going down the stairs and through the hallway past the kitchen before we arrived at the laundry room.
"I feel incredibly stupid," The vulpine sighed as he opened a cabinet on the wall, revealing several stacks of folded sheets. "I dug through a nightstand… For bedsheets…" "I guess that simply means the two of us need to get this done and relax," I replied, placing my hand on his back while he turned over to me. "Yeah, we can do this and then go relax in the hot tub for a while," He said, beginning to shuffle past me before walking back down the hall towards our room. "Actually, that sounds like a better idea," I replied, holding the door open for him as we went back into the bedroom. The two of us began putting the sheets on with some trouble as we had to play a game of figuring out which way was longest as we tried to set the fitted sheet on, before eventually getting it on and moving onto the top sheet, which was a lot less troublesome in comparison. We finally got to the comforter which we laid overtop, soon throwing the pillows back at the head of the bed in a comfortable spot.
"That's a lot better," He chuckled, rubbing on the new blanket as we stood there for a second. "Well, I guess I should change if we're getting into the hot tub," I said, shooing him out the door to which he obliged, grabbing a pair of swim shorts and stepping out. I walked back over to the table, seeing the pile of clothes which we had thrown into the corner of clothes we had worn, now feeling incredibly dirty for just leaving them there. 'I suppose I should do that while I'm still thinking about it,' I thought, walking over to the corner and heading into the bathroom, opening a cabinet and revealing a hamper before setting the clothes in it.
I undressed before grabbing the purple two-piece that I had laid across the tub so it could dry, soon pulling it onto me and leaving the bedroom. I opened the door to see that the vulpine had already changed and left, most likely towards the deck. Eventually, I made my way down the stairs, through the entertainment room, and out onto the deck to see that he had once again already gotten into the hot tub, except this time he was in the corner opposite of the last time, facing me directly with a smirk.
I walked over to the tub and hopped it, seeing him eye me as I sunk into the water. "I see you've learned to pay attention," I told him with a giggle as I waded over towards him and sat down, leaning against his side while he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Yeah, but this time we get to actually relax, thankfully," He replied, nuzzling against the top of my head while he said it.
The two of us sat in there for an unknowing amount of time, enjoying the water while I rested against his chest. Ava eventually climbed in with us and she sat in the other corner, also relaxing in a mellow tone which was unlike her, but still enjoyable company.
