(Dynamis POV)
I think I may have seen this woman once or twice before while I was possessed by Hades's curse. I've never seen her outside of that, who was she again?
"Umm…I-" I hesitated to speak before she suddenly pulled me in by grasping onto my shoulders.
"Pluto?! You're alive? What in the world? No way, I can't believe it! The only logical way you got out is you memorizing the spells in The Authority but even then you need so much magical energy to even use the spells in that. W—what the hell did you do?!" Although confused, the unknown woman was beaming in excitement.
I felt a bit bad, I had no idea who she was but she seemed to know Pluto well. I couldn't lie to her like Pluto did so easily to Tithi earlier so I told her the truth immediately.
I responded to the mysterious woman, "I uh—I'm not Pluto."
"What?" She looked extremely concerned. The woman stared into my eyes intensely with no response.
"Shiiiiit, you're right you're not Pluto at all. Dynamis? What the hell happened?" The woman stepped back in shock, "Wait no I know what happened. This is a body swap huh? Where and when the heck did he learn how to cast such a ridiculously niche spell?"
Who was this woman? How did she know that I was Dynamis just by staring at me? I had so many questions, but my priority was leaving the airport as soon as possible. Still, I needed to know who this person was.
"I apologize for asking you this, especially in the body of somebody you seem to know well but, who are you?" I asked her as politely as I could.
"Oh shoot right, you've never seen me much outside of you being possessed huh? It's Elysse. I work for Pluto. Although to be honest, let's just say I'm the behind the scenes person that does all the insignificant work like delivering food, getting groceries, et cetera. I wasn't exactly involved in all the crazy L-Drago and Spiral force shenanigans."
"I see, it is nice to meet you," I smiled as we exchanged a simple hand shake. She was still quite an enigma to me, but considering her reaction to seeing me, I assumed she would be willing to help.
"I'm sorry to ask this so soon but is there any way you can help me get out of here? I know I am not Pluto but—"
"Don't worry about it. Now that you're here, my priorities have changed. Hold on kiddo," she quickly tugged on my arm and before I could even register what happened, we were suddenly in a new location.
I quickly observed my new surroundings. The both of us were in what appeared to be an average-looking living room. The small house looked like any ordinary family home. Although, the house seemed quite barren of decorations and personal items that would usually be present in a proper house. I tried to slap myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming, but I was fairly certain we were out of the airport. We really were in a house now.
"Alright, now that we're out of the airport, we have some more privacy. Don't worry, we're still in Metal Bey City if you were wondering. This is one of Pluto's vacation houses. Anyway, let's cut straight to the chase, what is Pluto planning?" She looked at me as if to interrogate me.
" I… do not know, he simply grabbed and switched bodies with me before making a run for it. He did not disclose any information at all," I responded to her to the best of my ability. There wasn't really much else I could say, I was just as confused as her. Maybe I should have been in a more sour mood, but getting out of the airport without much struggle lightened up my mood just a little bit. I should have asked about how she was able to teleport so easily but considering my own magical background, I refrained from asking about it. If I really wanted to, I could ask later.
"He didn't say anything? Gosh darn it. The one time he didn't go on a long-ass monologue about his evil plan is the ONE time I actually could have used it," the woman shouted angrily at the ceiling in immense disappointment. I sighed in response. A part of me was able to empathize with her struggle, not knowing Pluto's intentions irritated me. There was no way I could just let him harm the others. I had to do something quickly to make sure he wouldn't hurt Gingka or his friends.
"I know we worked on opposing sides, and I am partially responsible for the uh…unfortunate circumstances that affected your employer but…I need your help," I asked her in an unconfident manner. We only knew each other for a few minutes, and I knew she was definitely not someone to be messed with. If she was that quick to help me however, I had to at least make some sort of attempt to get some assistance with my current dilemma.
"You'll have to clarify what kind of help you want from me, kid. I'm willing to help you get your body back and figure out Pluto's plan but anything that puts him in danger and I'll have to restrain you immediately," she glared at me with a raised eyebrow. I thought about it for a bit before figuring out a deal that worked for both our goals. She seemed mostly concerned about Pluto's wellbeing, and I simply wanted to make sure Pluto wouldn't cause trouble. As long as he didn't have plans to cause immense havoc, maintaining an alliance with Elysse would not be difficult.
"How about that then? Perhaps we can work together to figure out Pluto's plan. Neither of us know what he has in store, so until we figure that out, we can cooperate for the time being. Is that alright with you?"
She thought about it for a second before replying back,"Hmm…yea sure why not? It won't kill me to work alongside you. Unlike Pluto, you seem like an honest kid," Elysse laughed.
"Then that settles it, we shall join sides until we figure out what Pluto is scheming. From there, we will see what happens. I really do hope that we will not end up on opposing sides."
"Yeah fair enough, you got yourself a deal!"
We shaked hands once again to signify our newly formed pact.
(Pluto's POV, it is now 10AM in the morning. Tithi and "Dynamis" are right outside of the WBBA headquarters.)
I hate this.
The entire car ride to the hotel, the legendary blader, Tithi I believe? He wouldn't shut up. I didn't anticipate that he would ramble for so long about seeing Gingka and his idiotic friends. If I had the magical energy, I would have forced that child to sleep in the car so that I could have some peace and quiet. At least he completely knocked out once he got into his bed at the hotel. Still, I'll have to unfortunately have to deal with this annoying brat for the extent of my stay here in Japan.
We were in front of the WBBA headquarters of Japan. I vaguely remember the chauffeur telling Tithi and I to meet everyone at the building around 11AM. I figured it would be wise to get to the meeting location early to get a quick scope of the area. I had a vague but good enough understanding of Metal Bey City's layout after a few visits to the old Dark Nebula building back when it was still around. The guide kept insisting that they lead us to the building but I refused. Tsk. In just an hour, not only would I have to listen to Tithi, but all the other annoying bladers as well. It didn't matter. My plan was far more important than my own well-being, and I would sacrifice it if it meant succeeding. No matter what, it couldn't be worse than staying in the void, right?
Tithi yawned, "Wahhh…Dynamis, did we really need to be here so early? Yu and the others won't be here until later," the young blader looked at me in exhaustion.
I hesitated to respond for a second. I had to make sure I responded in a similar manner to Dynamis. If I gave the young blader any sort of attitude, it would make him suspicious of me, and I couldn't have that.
I snuck a quiet "ahem" under my breath before I responded, "Tithi, you can never be too early. Maybe some of our friends will be here soon as well," disgust flowed through my body after saying that. Calling those idiots my friends, after everything they did to me? Once I get my hands on that book, I will make sure that each and every one of them suffer a pain far worse than what I experienced.
"Mmmm…I guess you are right, Dynamis, but still this is too early."
I ignored Tithi. It was his fault for bouncing around like an idiot in the airport anyway. There was nothing else for me to say to him after that. The less I had to interact with everyone, the better. Before we could take one step further, a familiar grating voice shouted at us.
"Dynamis! Tithi! You guys are here already?! It's so nice to see you two again!" It was none other than Gingka Hagane, the stupid kid who ruined everything. He was accompanied by Madoka I think? She was the girl who analyzed all their beys. Next to her however, Kenta. He was even worse than Gingka, if I could punt him like a soccer ball, I would. I'd have to wait though, I couldn't allow my anger to show right now. Calm and composed just like Dynamis was, surely that couldn't be so difficult.
"Gingka, Madoka, Kenta. It is…nice to see you face to face again. It has been awhile since we last talked."
Madoka began to speak, "It's only been three months since the last meeting but Gingka and the others wanted to do another meetup here. I'm glad you two were able to make it!"
The green-haired cockroach also started to talk as well, "Yeh! Thanks for coming! I can't wait for us to battle during the tournament! I still haven't gotten the chance to battle you Tithi!"
I considered what would happen if I were matched against Kenta during the tournament that everyone seemed to be talking about. I would have lost my mind and pummeled that child into the ground if we ended up matched against each other. The group continued to exchange back and forths between each other. I tried to stay quiet for most of the conversation, giving quiet and small nods every now and then to acknowledge that I was "listening". Another group of people had arrived before we could enter the building.
"So the Fortune Teller is here too? Last time you guys were here, we had to search the whole city because you guys couldn't find this place. Good thing you're actually here on time," Gingka's supposed rival complained to Tithi and I. Kyoya Tategami, I think Dynamis lost to him once in the temple. Next to him was some random fat—no wait I did remember him. Johannes fought against him several times. He would always complain to me about how annoying he was, always screaming about bulls. Was it Benkei?
"EEEK! IT'S YOYO!" Tithi screamed before cowering behind my back. So much for leaving this kid in someone else's care.
"Yo-yo?! I thought we were past calling me that. It's Kyoya for the last time!"
"Bleh, I'm going to keep calling you Yo-yo you big meanie," Tithi stuck his tongue out at his fellow legendary blader while still hiding behind my back. Kyoya and Benkei were about to retort but they were interrupted by Madoka.
"Hey guys let's get along alright? Why don't we go inside and continue our talk?" she glanced assertively at everyone.
"Yea let's go everyone! We should catch up inside," Gingka shouted excitedly to her and everyone else. I gave her a slight nod before walking inside with the others. Tithi was still holding onto my arm for some reason. Did he really dislike Kyoya that much? I thought the legendary bladers were supposed to be friends. As we walked in, I noticed another familiar face. It was Chris, the blader for hire that betrayed us. I even paid him a good sum too, scammer.
"Oh you guys are here? Glad to know I'm not the only one to get here early," Chris was standing by the front desk, but he turned his head to greet everyone after he heard the automatic door go off.
"You're here too Chris! Nice to see ya again!" Gingka beamed once again. Where do these kids get all this energy?
"Yea, I figured I'd get here early for convenience sake. Nice to see you again Gingka, how is everything in Japan right now?" Chris smiled.
"They're great, we've been able to get repairs for most of the city already. Metal Tower is almost fixed!"
Kyoya decided to join their little conversation as well, "Tsk, we still need to do another rematch there Gingka. Once that place is done with reconstruction, we're heading back there to battle."
They continued to babble on about having rematches and beybattles again. Chris started to talk to Madoka about the WBBA in the United States, while Kenta was making exchanges with Benkei. Tithi was still hiding behind me. I didn't want him tugging onto my arm any longer so I asked, "Tithi, why don't you go talk with the others? You seemed so excited earlier?"
The young blader looked up to me and responded, "Sorry, I'm just scared of Yo-yo, I like everyone else but he still scares me. I don't want to be around him without you or Yu around."
Did Tithi just say 'you' twice? Wait. No, he was referring to the kid named Yu Tendo. He mentioned him earlier as well. I remember Doji talking about that kid once or twice when he wasn't babbling on and on about Ryuga. If Doji didn't fail so miserably with his management, I wouldn't be stuck in this ridiculous position.
"I see. Well will you be more comfortable once Yu arrives?" I asked Tithi, I just wanted him to get off of me.
Fortunately for me, the brat Tithi was waiting for suddenly barged in through the front door with another blader. Was this Tsubasa Otori? My goodness, why are there so many of them?
"Gingky! Yo-yo! Benben! Kenchi! You guys are all here already?! Man, I thought I was going to be the earliest!" Yu pouted until he noticed Tithi, then he started to jump in joy, "Tithi, I haven't seen you in so long!"
"Yu! I missed you so much!" Tithi finally let go of my hand, running to give Yu a hug. The kid didn't even answer my question. At last, I had some more space to myself. If Tithi could just stay with that kid for the majority of the day, I would be able to go through with my plan. Just when I thought no one else would come up, two more bladers walked into the building. King and…Masamune? One of them was the Legendary Blader of Mars, and the other was a member of the Japanese team for the World Beyblade Championships. I only watched the finals, but I know Elysse watched the whole championship. I was expecting her to cheer for Team Starbreaker since Ziggurat was in charge of them, but she was cheering for Team Wang Hu Zhong instead. Eh, the only blader that really stood out to me during that championship was Damian anyway.
"Hey! Dynamis! Hello? Did you space out or something? I said hi and you haven't said anything back," King gave me a baffled look, did I really blank out right in front of him and everyone else?
"Yea buddy, you good?" Masamune also asked me, giving me a great look of concern.
I needed to come up with something, without thinking much, I quickly bluttered, "Oh. My apologies for blanking out, I was um…thinking about the stars."
"The stars?! It's almost 10:20 AM in the morning. Why are you thinking about stars now?" King blurted out loudly in front of my face. He was right, why did I say something so stupid?
"King this is Dynamis we're talking about, all he does is talk about the stars and his goofy crystal ball of fortune telling," Kyoya countered King immediately, I was somewhat thankful to Kyoya for butting in. I guess it didn't really matter to me, since Dynamis would be the one to look stupid, and not myself. Tsubasa quickly glanced over at me and gave me a brief embarrassed smile. I assume he was trying to sympathize with me for getting myself into quite the ridiculous situation. I gave him a fake smile back before looking back at the others.
After a few minutes, we all headed for the top floor hobby to relax and catch up on what happened in previous months. Aguma, Bao, and Yuki also came shortly after we reached the top. All of the Legendary bladers and their friends were gathered in the same spot. They continued to talk about beyblade and their lives outside of battling. All of their conversations were making me sick to my stomach. I needed to give myself some breathing room.
I walked over to Madoka, who was not as engaged with everyone's conversation at the moment. "Madoka, I am going to take a walk by myself to get some fresh air. It won't be long I think, if anyone asks me where I am, I will be…around," I informed the young beyblade analyst.
"Oh sure no problem, we'll see you around. We're all going to be having lunch at 12PM here so just be back here by then," she smiled at me, not knowing that she was not actually talking to Dynamis, but me.
I quickly hustled out of the crowded room and into the hallways of the corporate building. Finally, I could enjoy some peace and quiet to myself. The passageways were quite long, and the doors led to what I assumed to be personal office rooms for the higher-ranked employees. I made sure to take good note of my surroundings. If I wanted to get my hands on that book, I would need to gain access to the WBBA's private archive. I checked the nearby clock hanging on one of the private office doors. It was only 11:00AM, I still had an hour before I needed to return to the lobby room.
Seeing no one in my vicinity, I whispered to myself, "Finally, I'm out of that room. Noisy brats. Being Dynamis is not as easy as I thought. Pretending to be him is the easy part, but I can only listen to those idiots talk for so long. Once I get my business with Rago out of the way, I'll make sure I get revenge on those legendary bladers and all their friends."
"WHAT?!" A voice suddenly screamed from behind me, who the hell was following me this whole time? I immediately turned my head to see Tithi behind me. He looked at me in terror, slowly walking back away from me. "You—You're not Dynamis? Who are you?! What did you do to him?!" The blader shouted at me in a panic.
I couldn't let him blow my cover, why was he following me and how did he find out so fast? I quickly grabbed Tithi to make sure he wouldn't run back to the others. I snapped at the child, "Shh! Silence! Don't shout so loud!"
"Answer my question! Who are you? Wait…If you're not Rago then you must be Pluto!"
"Grahh no, I—Shut up!"
"So you are Pluto! Aaaaah let go of me you big meanie, I have to go warn the others!" Tithi tried to break free from my grasp, but I quickly covered his mouth before dragging him into the empty office room next to us. He continued to struggle. I had to make sure this kid wouldn't snitch on me but I didn't know how. If anything happened to him here and now, my whole operation would fall apart before it even began. I didn't have enough magical energy to wipe his memory or cast any other spell, I was too exhausted from earlier.
"Listen here kiddo. You are not going to tell any of the Legendary bladers this, I will not have you foil my plans!"
"Not tell everyone, why would I do that?! How long have you been pretending to be Dynamis anyway? And where is Dynamis? And how the heckles did you come back? I thought you died!"
"Why do I need to answer you?!"
"Because I'm going to tell on you, !"
"Don't do that—fine! I'll answer all your stupid questions. I switched bodies with Dynamis in the airport when he was stupid enough to check out the dark corridor. Your second question? I don't know where Dynamis is. How am I supposed to know whether or not he actually managed to get out of the airport? How did I come back? I had to use all my power just to drag myself back into existence. I did die thank you very much Tithi, it wasn't pleasant if you were wondering!"
"You what with Dynamis?! How does that even work? I can't believe you cursed him again!"
"Oh shut up kid. You think I want to be in his body? I can't walk around in my own body when I'm considered a criminal all over the world!"
"Ahhhh let me go Mr. Bad Guy! I don't want to be around you!"
"And let you snitch on me? I don't think so, kid," I strengthened my grip around Tithi, but not enough to choke or injure him. Any visible markings and I would be in trouble.
All of a sudden, Tithi bit my arm, I quickly let him go as I retracted in pain. He tried to make a quick dash for the door but I grabbed the collar of his poncho before he could escape.
"Youch, that hurt!" The boy shrieked in pain.
"You just bit me. No, you technically bit Dynamis! This is your payback. Just so you know, you're also harming your friend when you try to injure this body kid," I was partially lying when I said that. Technically speaking, only I would feel the pain. Dynamis in my body wouldn't feel a thing. Although, Dynamis's body would still suffer the consequences. It's not like his body would magically recover if he happened to return to his original vessel. If he hypothetically lost a finger because of me, his finger wouldn't just come back out of nowhere.
"You tricky evil meanie! What the heck do you even want? Why are you here to bug us again?" Tithi was on the verge of tears.
"I—I'm not even really here for you! I'm only using your friend's body to more easily get around. I have one goal and it's none of your business."
"It is my business! You can't just snatch my friends' body like that! You know I'm going to get you in trouble once I get out of here, you can't keep me in this room forever!"
He was right, the kid would try to blow my cover the second we left the room. Suddenly, I recalled Kyoya's comment from earlier, I had an idea.
I sneered at the child, "Oh Tithi, you can try and expose me but do you really think anyone will believe you. No one was able to see anything wrong with me earlier so what makes you think they will trust your word? What if they think…you are the evil-doer?" I tried to intimidate him, I needed to prevent him from exposing me somehow.
The young blader hesitated as he became more afraid of me. Despite that, the fool still picked up the courage to retaliate against me. "S-still, I can't sit here and let you hurt my friends! Why are you so angry with us anyway? You were the one crazy enough to try and destroy the world. We just wanted to protect our home you know," despite his retaliation, he was still visibly trembling.
There was no way we were going to get out of this back and forth unless I lied to him somehow. He heard me mention my plan to bring back Rago and get revenge on the legendary bladers. If I drop that last part and just make him feel some sympathy for my cause to get Rago back, maybe the kid would get off my back. I can double-cross him later anyway.
"Hmph. You…you are right Tithi. I was crazy. When I died not once, but twice, it was the most unbearable pain I ever experienced. Then afterwards, I was trapped in nothing but darkness. The only person that I had to accompany me was Rago. You know, we thought about it and we let our plans for Nemesis go. We…learned our lesson. Up until recently, I had the opportunity to bring myself back but I had to leave Rago in the void. Now, I am simply trying to bring him back so that he may also enjoy the surface world once again. That is all I want," Half of what I said was true. I did really want to bring Rago back, and I really don't care about Nemesis. But revenge was still fresh in my mind, was I really supposed to just let the Legendary bladers go on with their lives peacefully? I tried to sound genuine with the kid but it didn't bold well for my own health. I started to feel sick to my stomach once more but I tried to hide it from my face. I made a lousy attempt at forming crocodile tears to try and further convince the brat.
"Is…is Rago your friend?" Tithi asked me quietly.
I faltered to answer him, I did consider Rago my friend, but did I really want to admit something like that to a kid like him. I wasn't exactly in the mood for cheesy speeches from a kid, but if I wanted to get this kid's trust, I had no choice but to admit it. "Yes, he is my friend, and I want to help him," I stuttered slightly when I responded, it did not feel right to me for me to admit something like that.
"I see. I can understand that, but you're sure you're not going to do anything fishy after Rago comes back?"
Without thinking much of it, I blurted, "Tsk. If he were to come back, he'd be far less motivated than me. I think he'd be happy to just stare at paint dry for hours. Anything really as long as it isn't the dark void of Nemesis."
"Okay! Then I'll help you!" Tithi grinned at me. Did this kid just say he'd help me? Was that really all it took to get this kid's trust? He couldn't be that gullible? I was absolutely flabbergasted. I formed one fake tear and that was all it took for him to fall for that? Before I could say another word, he spoke again, "But that doesn't mean I'm going to trust you all the way mister. You want to help your buddy but I still remember what you said earlier! And I still am not going to forget about how you hurt my friends! I'll help you, but I'm gonna watch your every move. You better be serious about being a better person, or else you're gonna be in big trouble!"
I was surprised at his willingness to help me out after the fake sob speech I gave him, but I guess having him on my side plays well in my favor. In order for my plan to work, I would need this kid to cooperate. So I responded to him with my own terms and rules.
"If you want to help me then Tithi, you better listen well. You are going to pretend that I am Dynamis. Do not do anything to give away my true identity. Just as you cannot trust me to keep my word, I cannot trust you to keep yours. You are going to stick with me, and I will not allow you to leave my sight. Vice versa, I will allow you to keep an eye on me. That is our deal, if you fail to comply," I paused to think about how I would punish Tithi, I continued my thought, "I… won't hurt you, but don't test me Tithi. I don't tolerate people who stand in my way very well."
He quickly nodded his head up and down, before countering back.
"Okay mister, you better stick to your word or else I will expose your plan to everybody. Including that revenge part!"
"Fine, then we have a deal." I extended my hand to give the child a hand shake. If I wanted this kid to fall for my lies, I needed to play into it. He paused for a moment, but then stuck out his pinky finger.
"Pinky promise!" Tithi was determined for me to shake his pinky instead.
I sighed, "Alright, pinky promise."
I extended Dynamis's finger and locked pinkies with the legendary blader. Here and then, we had formed an alliance of some sort. Soon after, we both exited the office room as if nothing had happened earlier. Further down the hallway, Madoka was running over to Tithi and I.
"Hey there you guys are! You two were gone for way longer than I expected. Must be having a fun time walking around the WBBA eh? Lunch is in ten minutes, so I think it's a good time for the both of you to head back," Madoka reminded us. I looked over to see the digital clock at exactly 11:50AM, did time really fly that quickly? How long were the both of us arguing?
Tithi quickly grabbed onto my hand before replying to the young girl, "Okey dokey Madoka! Dynamis and I will head there right away," he answered happily. I didn't expect him to change his attitude so quickly.
"Sounds good, why don't we get going then? I'm headed back there as well," Madoka smiled at both of us.
I couldn't stay silent the whole day so I responded, "Yes of course, Tithi and I will follow you back if that is alright."
"Sure thing Dynamis, after the whole fiasco a few months ago, we're all willing to help navigate the city for you," the girl teased us. I gave her a chuckle, I couldn't believe Dynamis was actually so foolish as to get lost in a city like this. Picturing that scenario did bring a smile to my face, albeit for all the wrong reasons. We finally arrived back in the lobby room, where Gingka and the others greeted Tithi and I again once more.
Their voices were still just as grating as before.
