Fleeing from the three strangers once again, Theodore ran fervently through the streets of London, hoping Lila braved entering the TARDIS and using it to find him, because if there's anything that these people can't do's break into the TARDIS.
Feeling like a cast member on the "Running Man," Theodore fled without looking back, until he's forced to stop yet again, hoping that he's heard the familiar sound of the motors in the TARDIS.
Seeing that blue menace in front of him put pep in his step as he rushed towards it, not even giving Lila enough time to open the door as he rushed inside, imploring her to close the door.
"What the hell's going on?" Lila asked Theodore what's happened and he explained that he's sure that the people chasing him weren't human.
They kept up with him, see the tears, and agile enough that he can't even stop to take a deep breath without one of them coming after him.
More than that, they want to eat him!
"What're they, then?" Lila inquired.
Her knowledge of aliens isn't that great, she only delved into the knowledge recently, and seven adventures isn't a whole lot to go from since she and Theodore were pushed into the TARDIS.
Theodore shook his head as he replied that he didn't know, not that he asked, but all he knew now's that he wants to send the buggers astray.
Lila tempered him by saying, "I'm not saying adventuring with you's changed my outlook, but shouldn't you find out more about them?"
Looking at her like she's the crazy one, Theodore pointed at himself as he reminded her they wanted to eat him!
"Yeah, Theo, I know that, but why?" Lila asked him.
The fact they singled him out's interesting to her, in broad daylight, no less, and the fact the way Theodore told her, sounded like they're careful about others seeing them.
"Does it matter?" Theodore gawked at Lila's attempt to understand the people trying to eat him.
Lila crossed her velvet arms as she replied, "Yeah it does. Remember breakfast when you cut yourself on the knife and you went to clean the blood off, they were there looking at our table. I thought they're just shocked at the sight of your appetite. Theo, I think they tracked you by your blood."
Lila recalled Theodore left the bloodied napkin on the table, neatly wrapped so the waitress didn't touch his blood.
As for them seeing the tears, it did sound strange, considering she didn't think anyone else's able to see it, too.
Theodore told her small children and animals can sense them, but that's it, generally they can't see it.
Some aliens can see them clearly, but them interacting's a different story, sometimes they can accidentally pass through them without realizing, manipulating where they go, they can't.
Even Daleks can't do it if they tried, they're not capable of that feat, but they can find where a tear leads, but that's about it.
Groaning, Theodore gestured as he emphasized, "Lee, I need help, they're trying to eat me. You're my companion!"
Lila emphasized, "I know, that. Don't you think you should figure out what they are before you decide to send them packing first? You don't know how many of them exist here and as I recall from our incident with the... whatcha call 'em... Ju-dumbs, they may not exactly forget what you do to their people. Remember?"
Bringing up an incident from one of their seven adventures, they encountered an alien race that chased after them after Theodore accidentally killed one of their generals.
It wasn't much of an accident, more than self-defense, on the account the general tried to kill him and Lila, and the death resulted in them literally running for their lives because of his vengeful comrades. The only reason they stopped trying to kill them's because Theodore and Lila helped track down a dangerous alien in return before given a sentencing that if they're caught again, they're killed on sight.
"Judoon! Ju-do-on! And I only saw the brother and sister, not the whole family. Lord knows what holidays they have!" Theodore waved his hands as he emphasized his point.
Exhaling sharply, Lila tells Theodore he needed to know what they're dealing with and if there's a way for this to resolve peacefully.
"Have you gone mad?" Theodore eyes her as he's aghast that she wants to resolve this issue peacefully.
Lila retorts, "Only when I don't have my coffee. Listen, they're not Daleks and I rather we not exterminate like them. We may have to get our hands dirty and we get them dirty, but I don't want this a habit of ours. Exhaust your options before you pull the trigger, Theo."
Taking lessons from her father, Lila didn't want them to make any rash decisions, especially when taking lives. She's not green, but she knows that nothing good ever comes from carelessly killing.
There'll be times when they have to do what they must, but Lila doesn't see it here, and she certainly didn't want anyone getting hurt without reason.
"Remind me to nominate you for ambassador," Theodore dryly replied while Lila headed towards the console as she looked at the buttons.
Muttering under her breathe, she couldn't figure it out well enough that she asked aloud, "Hey, you know what's trying to eat Gilbert Grape here?"
Recoiling, Lila watched as the monitors above turning on by themselves and sees long texts and pictures of what they're dealing with.
Samito.
Lila couldn't read everything about them, but she read enough to know what they're dealing with and sees how these ones differ from the usual variety.
Samito live in familial pods.
These ones don't.
Unlike the underwater variety, these ones worked to mask themselves as humans, keeping their abilities on land, such as their acute sense of smell.
Not surprisingly, they're not from her and Theodore's universe. A different one and the TARDIS gave an interesting factoid.
These Samito, named as Jasper, Lambert, and Reese, encountered the Doctor prior.
Not Theodore's father, but someone else with the title, Lila doesn't know who specifically, as the TARDIS kept it vague.
Theodore can thank that Doctor for bringing them to their universe, because it'd seem that he wanted them out of his hair, too.
"Oh, fantastic!" Theodore winces as Lila read off the sheets of text.
She ended off with, "You're going to have to talk to them, Theo, you said it yourself. You're the Doctor and I'm just the companion."
Using his words against him, Lila said that to get the Samito off his back, he'll have to talk to them, and tell them he's the Doctor.
"If they talked to another Doctor before, they're not going to take my word for it, did I mention they wanted to eat me?" Theodore gestured as Lila went over to him.
Shrugging her velvet shoulders, Lila replied, "Hey, don't blame me, I'm just the companion. Just tell them you're the Doctor, too, and you'll do worse to them if they try. When we get this situation sorted, we'll discuss alternatives."
Since these Samito dealt with the Doctor prior, they'll have knowledge, and because of this Lila thinks they have a chance to resolve this peacefully, and afterwards, they can discuss what's to be done with them.
She didn't think they'd want to leave, yet again, considering they went through two universes, but they'd have to behave themselves.
It's a long shot, but Lila didn't want them to resort to violence unless they expend every option under the sun.
Groaning, Theodore conceded that Lila had a point and that he couldn't willingly dispose the Samito without at least parrying with them first.
Having encountered the Doctor before, it gave them a chance, it's worth trying.
"And if it all fails?" Theodore inquired as he crossed his arms.
Lila shrugged as she replied, "Then we'll discuss shooting them into the sun with a canon, come on, Theo, we're already wasting away what little day off your brother gave us."
They already have to go in tomorrow and Lila wanted time to herself. Unless Theodore wants to tell his brother, what happened, that is, which led Theodore to only audibly groan as he went towards the door like a prisoner, and opened it.
Outside waiting, there's the three Samito, and he looked at them with exhaustion in his eyes.
They're staring at the TARDIS as they recognized it and Lambert blurted, "Oh, great, you're friends with him?"
She referred to the Doctor that her and the hodgepodge encountered.
Sucking air through his teeth, Theodore stated, "I am him! I am the Doctor!"
Leaning on what he learned from his father, Theodore put some oomph into it, as he triumphantly declared himself as the Doctor.
Reese shook his head as he rejected the claim, "No you're not, you don't smell like him!"
They smelled him plenty, enough to differentiate the two, and he can't claim he's the Doctor, as they (rightfully) smell otherwise.
Looking behind, Theodore asked for help from Lila, and she went around him to stand outside the TARDIS looking at the Samito.
"Listen, he's the Doctor, and you really, really, really, don't want to tick off his brother, okay. Let me tell you, his brother's usually curt around people, but the moment he hears you three giving him trouble, you're going to regret every last bit of your existence. I'm serious, the man can recite King Lear's speech in forty different languages!" Lila gave the Samito a reason not to cause trouble for Theodore.
His brother's no spring chicken and will gladly take off the kid's gloves the moment he hears his little brother in trouble.
Hell, Hamon's bound to give them even worse trouble if they go that far, he may be old, but the man's still a full-blooded Time Lord, and will gladly kill them with just his strength alone.
The Samito looked at her with curiosity as she pleaded for Theodore's life, before Reese asked, "Is he going to send us away, again?"
Looking back at Theodore who gave her a weak shrug, Lila turned back as she then said, "Look, we can coexist. You can't eat him or anyone in his family, alright, the same thing goes here, too. You cause trouble, you have plenty of people wanting your blood. Same thing like he said before. Don't cause trouble and you won't get any on your doorstep, got it?"
The two watched as the Samito looked at each other briefly while deciding what to do, since they're a hodgepodge it's not a matter of the head family making the decision, it's whoever takes point.
Jasper took point as he agreed to the terms, as he stated he doesn't want to relieve WWII, much less now, and he apologized to Theodore for the disturbances they caused him, they have sensitive noses and their natures tend to get the best of them.
"Doctor, what do you say to this?" Lila turned towards Theodore as she awaited his response at Jasper's apology.
Theodore replied stiffly, "Don't do it again!"
Jasper looked between Lambert and Reese as he told them that they'll have to continue sufficing on human food, they can't eat the Doctor, because the Doctor let them live. It's bad taste.
"Man, he smelled so good!" Reese groaned as he's unable to bite into the Doctor.
Lambert retorts, "He's bony anyway, you'd be chewing on little."
Studying Theodore, Reese sees her point as he decided that Theodore wasn't worth eating anymore, saying, "Yeah, I don't think I'd get anything from chewing on his arm."
Too skinny for Samito, what a surprise.
Grumbly, the Samito departed as Lila turned towards Theodore with her arms crossed as she said, "See, not so hard, was it?"
Theodore shot her a look as he said, "Easy for you to say, you don't have Time Lord blood!"
The Samito left peacefully and Theodore and Lila returned to the TARDIS where Theodore took them back to his flat as he stepped out with a disheveled look on his face while sitting in his chair.
"I can't feel my legs," he groaned as he sat.
Lila responded with, "At least you still have them. I know it's not going to be any easier here on out, but it's worth trying."
Smiling at her, Theodore thanked her for talking him out of the boorish thought he had, and she told him that it's her job to keep him leveled.
Once feeling returned to his legs, Theodore made them coffee, and afterwards, Lila went home to spend the remaining time throwing together something for dinner.
Next day, Theodore's refreshed as he worked dutifully as a librarian alongside Lila as he's able to keep it under wraps that Samito chased him around London.
His brother never said a thing, because he's busied with meetings, and that's good enough for Theodore.
Minding his business, Theodore worked with Bill and Lila, until lunch arrived, and he joined Lila at lunch. There, he received a text that Odette's filming crew added new people to the roster.
They're very good at their jobs and kept poor Ben so much on his toes, he complained about soreness multiple times.
Theodore talked to Odette about them and the smile went away the moment that his sister told him their names.
Lila glimpsed at his mobile screen and exhaled, "Oh boy!"
THE END
