Panicked, Kev and Anya struggled to keep the latch door closed as they heard knocking coming from underneath. They knew now that it wasn't friendly and they weren't taking any chances, using their combined weight and the weight from their backpacks, the two struggled as they started feeling hands hitting the underside of the latch door. Something's desperate in getting inside and they weren't keen on letting it.

Feeling the repetitive hits, enough to send jolts through them, the two struggled as they tried to keep whatever's down there at bay.

As they struggled, the two noticed that something's in the window looking in, causing Anya to scream at the sight.

It's one of the angel statues, almost about to climb inside hadn't they spotted it.

"What do we do?" Anya's voice wavered as she felt her throat closing while struggling to breathe.

Kev didn't have any ideas of escaping, but he realized that when they weren't watching the statues, they moved, and he figured as long as they watched this one, it couldn't move.

Since they have no other option, Anya agreed with his observation, and kept watch of the statue in front of them while keeping the other one from trying to break inside.

She didn't want to think of what they'd do to them if they succeeded in getting inside.

On her mind, Anya frantically prayed as she whimpered.

There weren't angel statues near the train yard before, she reasoned, they're all in the cemetery elsewhere, nowhere close to the train yard!

Here she is, faced with one eying her, and she wasn't exaggerating, either. It's eying her like she's some cold Coke in the fridge.

Watching the statue and keeping the other at bay with their weight, the two panicked, as they realized it's only a matter of when they blink, and what'll happen afterwards.

"I don't want to die," Anya whimpered.

Kev calmed her as he promised they'll be fine, unconvinced himself, but he wanted to keep Anya calm at all cost, and he promised her that when they get out of this, he'll buy her a ring. Promise.

The thudding grew louder as the fists slammed against the underside while the two struggled to keep their weights on the latch door on top of keeping an eye on the statue in front of them.

Tears ran down Anya's face as her emotions whelmed her and Kev's cursing up a storm as they don't know what to do, eventually they'll have to blink, and not only that, it's a matter of when the wood begins splintering and unable to withstand the brute force.

The two braced as they realized they're out of options and as they prepared to face their Maker, they heard an odd mechanical noise, loud enough that the thudding stopped.

Unable to hold their eyes open, the two blinked and braced, but when they opened their eyes again, the angel statue in the window's gone, and they didn't feel the thudding anymore.

"Wh-where'd they go?" Anya quizzically looked as she tried to catch her breathe.

Kev replied that he didn't know, but they shouldn't loiter, they needed to get out of here, and Anya agreed.

They abandoned their backpacks and opened the latch door, the statue beneath gone, and they carefully climbed down.

The moment their feet touched the ground, they began running back to the train yard. Once they go through the gate, they're home free, and able to run back to the village.

Without looking back, they fled, but as they did, they noticed…

"What the hell?" Kev notices that they're unable to return to the train yard, the same path they took, it's blocked off by a wall of foliage. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't get through, and Anya pulled him away, as they continued running, trying to find their way out of the area.

Despite their attempts, they tried so hard, they couldn't escape the woods, they couldn't reach the train yard, instead they're led towards an area offshoot of the train yard. It had its own rails and where coal used to shuffle between refinement and trains, when the train yard closed, so did the refinery.

The council can't touch it, belonged to somebody else, and they haven't done much with the property since it closed, and likely planned on demolishing what they haven't taken, since coal lost its edge sometime ago.

Without a way to the train yard, it's better than nothing, and they can find their way back to the village once they find the exit out of the refinery.

Much of it already dismantled since the closure, the company that operated it scrapped every bit of the building that once housed the refinery, and aside from a few forgotten carts, there's nothing left of the refinery except the abandoned carts and the tracks.

Their feet thudding against the solid cold ground, the two waddled through weeds as they found themselves in the area.

Waist high in weeds, the tracks buried underneath, carts stuck on the tracks, and the two surveyed for the exit.

The fencing gone, once they see the pavement, they're out of there, but unfortunately, as they quickly realized, they're not escaping easily as they hoped.

While running through the weeds, Kev spotted another angel statue. He knew it wasn't the same one they saw, it had dirt covering the lower half of its body. The previous two had dirt from the forearms to their hands.

Seeing the angel statue, made Anya freeze with fright as she sees it, and spotted a fourth one hidden by the tall weeds.

Remembering what they learnt, the two worked to keep their eyes on the statues while fleeing. They called out when they're about to blink and they kept it up until they noticed no matter how far they're running; they couldn't reach the entrance of the former refinery.

Like a scene out of a horror movie, they couldn't run far despite their vested attempts, and they stopped trying when they came to realize this.

"What do we do?" Anya turned to Kev as they realized they can't escape the angels and they're boxing them in an enclosed space they can't escape.

Panicked, Kev pondered before spotting the cart, he asked Kev to watch the statues while he ran towards it. Checking it, it still moved, and he screamed at Anya to jump in.

She did what Kev told her as he pushed the cart hard enough that it started moving on its own. He climbed into the cart with Anya as she watched the statues remaining stationary.

The cart moved on its own and eventually gained enough velocity that it gave them distance away from the statues.

Sitting snug in the cart, the two watched as it moved over the tracks at speed, rattling as they held on, knowing the route, it would've taken them to the train yard.

As the cart wheels scrapped against the tracks, the two planned what they'll do once the cart stopped. They're finding a way out of here and find help.

Maybe it'll sound outlandish, but they don't have any idea what's going on and why there's suddenly angel statues that want to harm them.

"Kev Anas, I hate you!" Anya stressfully said as she clung to the side of the cart. How she wished she didn't agree to follow him into the train yard. If only she'd listened to her gut and stayed in the village.

Kev agreed with her as he said aloud, "I know, I hate myself!"

If he had foresight and knew this would happen, he would never come out here, and this wouldn't happen. They would've stayed in the village, trying to prattle on with their relationship while dealing with their respected parents.

No, they're here and now, dealing with angel statues of all things.

Not even Kev could punch one out, not that he wanted to go near one, he worried what horrible thing they're capable of, and he rather liked his arm.

The cart continued traveling until it came to a screeching halt, sending the two shooting out, and rolling in the grassy knoll that took over the spot in the track.

Tumbling, the two came to a spot, rattled, but unharmed. They pushed up from the knoll as they got their bearings before trying to run on foot once again.

They fled through the area just before the train yard from the refinery and found they're having problems reaching the train yard, like a barrier keeping them from reaching it.

Kev spotted the two angels from before, returning to continue what they started, and realized that behind them, the two chasing them's not far behind, either.

Up ahead, there's a building where the conductors swapped out, still left behind, and they fled towards it.

The door stuck, Kev used his adrenaline and muscles to force it open, as they rushed inside.

Without anywhere else to go, nowhere to run, no way to fight back, the two barricaded the door with what they found, before hunkering down in a corner, holding each other close.

They knew the end's coming, there's no way they can stop the angels, now, they're on their way to break through the door, and get them.

Shivering from fright, the two embraced for what they perceived the final time they're able, as they held each other, their eyes looking at the barricaded door.

There's a boarded-up window with one sliver of an opening letting in light from the overcast, allowing them to watch as they perceived the angels moving.

Indeed, the angels are moving, and Anya burrowed her face in Kev's chest as she sees an angel peering through the opening.

"What do you want from us?!" Kev shouted at the angels.

They never responded to him and he flinched when he saw a grey arm break through the door.

The two saw their lives flash before their eyes, maybe just the adrenaline, but they heard that sound again, this time coming from inside the room.

Something's fading into existence, something odd, a blue police box, and when it became corporeal, the door opened on its own, covering them in a bright light.

They heard two voices shouting for them to hurry inside and without questioning, they mustered strength in their legs to push themselves up from the ground and hurried inside.

The door closing behind them, the two froze as they noticed they're somewhere else, a large cream coloured room with something in the centre. Two people near it, a man and a woman, the man using the lever on the console to spring the police box to life, and led them to safety.

"Who are you?" Anya asked them immediately and the man responded first.

Tipping his dusty vinyl fedora at her, the man replied, "I'm the Doctor."

The woman introduced herself last and she sounded American, "Lila, ya'll okay?"

Nodding, Anya asked them what were those things chasing after her and Kev, to which the Doctor told her.

Weeping Angels.

Nasty rude buggers, they are!

"What do they want from us?" Kev wanted to know what they wanted from them so badly they chased after.

He winced when the Doctor casually responded that they wanted their energy, their essence, and since they're young, they'll grant the angels a pretty sizable amount.

"Why?" Anya's confused as to why that is.

The Doctor summed it for her as such.

Angels need energy to exist.

Without it, they cease existence.

Humans, aliens, they'll hunt them for the energy.

The younger, the better.

More guarantee they get a couple of decades worth.

Oh, they're extremely lethal about it, too, enough that it's not wise getting caught by them, because of what they do to obtain said energy they so covet.

Let's just say, it's not pretty and the two won't live to see another day.

Not to mention they have a nasty penchant in manipulating their surroundings to better trap prey and then some, terrible decorators, they are!

"Why are they here?" Kev asked the Doctor why the angels suddenly arrived at the train yard, because there's nothing there, nobody goes there, no reason at all!

Lila replied that the angels presumably arrived after finding their way through a rift, they drained it like a canister of water, and desperate.

A rift contained a sizable amount of energy, but split between four angels, enough that it's a piecemeal. This alone would've driven the angels to search out more to satiate their never-ending thirst.

"Seems you two picked the worst time coming here," the Doctor noted that the bad timing's got them in trouble.

Noting this, Kev asked how can they get rid of them, causing the Doctor to grimace as he tells Kev that there's not really a whole lot of ways of doing that.

Contrary to popular beliefs, Weeping Angels aren't trapped if they lock eyes, and they can't produce more if you stare into their eyes. Not that's wise to begin with, they feed with their eyes. Don't ask how they do that, it's best not to imagine it.

"The only way we can get rid of them's if we trap them and send them to a black hole, tear them up, and that's that, but of course, I can't do that. Too terrible of a risk going near one, even with my TARDIS," the Doctor noted the futility in leading the angels into a trap and sending them to a black hole.

He can't guarantee the plan wouldn't fail and certainly didn't want to risk something going wrong, especially with a black hole. They're not forgiving and they'll tear everything caught inside it like paper.

"Well, what do we do?" Anya gestured as she asked what they needed to do that wouldn't risk something going wrong.

Thinking as he chewed his inner lip, the Doctor told her that it's possible he can reverse polarity the TARDIS and take the energy they already amassed. Though, it's not a guarantee and the TARDIS isn't what it used to be, anything can and has happened.

"What then?" Kev asked the Doctor.

His large feet pattering against the grate, the Doctor told him that they'll have to wing it, and work with what they know.

"Is there anything you can tell me about the angels?" He asked them as the two stood near each other, their arms interlocked.

Remembering what he saw, Kev said he noticed the angels having dirt on them, and remembered that there was a hole near the train yard, like they've been digging there.

"I don't know what they're digging for, but they weren't interested in the stones," Kev thoughtfully said as he harkened back to finding the mounds of stones and how he and Anya had two backpacks full of stones and minerals.
