As the warm spring sun rose above Adventure Bay, the pups woke up one by one. When Skye woke up, she expected to find Chase next to her, but he was not there. Puzzled, she went to where Chase always went to. His spot. It was a shadily spot where he often went to find peace of mind. She found him there, but something was wrong, and she realized what it was. He was in pain.
At first, she thought it was his nightmares again. But she remembered he had not had one in weeks, plus he was acting strange. He was muttering stuff she could not understand, he was shaking uncontrollably, and his fur was unusually dark.
Just then, Marshall walked out. He could find out. He had been studying magic, so maybe he could figure out Chase's strange behavior. "Hi Skye," said Marshall as he walked up to her. "Hi, but do you know what's up with him?," ask Skye, pointing at Chase. "Um... no," said Marshall, shaking his head. He was confused as well.
Marshall walked up to him, trying to ask him if something was wrong. But he did not seem to want to talk. When he touched his shoulder, he swung his Iron enchanted sword. If Marshall had not ducked, his head would have been cut off.
Skye backed off. She knew something was seriously wrong. Chase would never dare swing in such a manner towards Marshall. She quickly ran off to tell Ryder. Meanwhile, Marshall was wrestling with him, trying to pin him. He had no idea why Chase was doing this until he looked at his face and understood. His face was glitching between his normal face with his white and red eyes to a black face with white eyes. Using his knockout shots, he gave it to Chase, Knocking him out.
Inside, Ryder and Skye watch as Marshall finish restraining Chase to his examine table. "Is he ok?" ask Ryder. He was worried. "I hope so," said Marshall, who was uncertain himself. "But something is up with him, and I will find out what." Ruffing to his brain x-ray, he scanned his head and found something odd.
"Um guys, you have to see this," said Marshall as he put the brain x-ray on the tv. Skye and Ryder gasp. Chase's brain patterns were all over the place, but they were getting responses. When Marshall turns up the voice Montier, a loud burst of talking came out. It kept repeating, "Stop it, you're a monster and a bunch of cursing." "Who's he talking to," ask Ryder. "Someone in his head."
Suddenly, Chase beganed to shake uncontrollably. Objects, including Ryder, Skye and Marshall, started to float around. "His brain waves are getting too intense!" cried Marshall as he leaped from object to object, trying to find his knockout shots. But, strange, it all stops. Just silence. The only noise was the stuff hitting the ground.
"Weird, his brain waves stop," said Marshall, checking his scanner. Ryder walks up to Chase. He seemed to be dead. But when he looks at his paws. They were sparking with energy. "Wait, his paws are..." said Skye. She didn't finish her sentence as a massive explosion took out the entire wing of the wing. Zuma and Rubble, who were outside playing, watched as the flames smoked the blue sky black. "What's going on?!" cried Zuma as Ryder, Skye and Marshall walked out.
