Karen's Cafe
Lucas Scott double checked the money in the cash register. He put up the chairs on the tables.
He was closing up for the night. He ran the resturant. He had worked at the cafe since he was 14. When he wasn't busy with that. He had his hands full. I'll leave it at that.
College wasn't in the cards for him. He had wanted to go. Was very smart. But life wouldn't make room for it. That was what he made peace with a long time ago.
He hadn't expected any customers especially since the sign was flipped to closed. There was no one here but him.
Small town went like this. Open early. Close early.
On rare occasions he stayed late. Holiday time or a birthday party for one of his friends.
The front door came swinging open. He locked eyes on this woman dressed in clothes far too fancy for a cafe.
"We're closed. Feel free to come back tommorow." Lucas said.
Brooke let out a frustrated sigh. She stared at him.
"Look i spent hours on a flight. The servers refused to serve me because of my attitude and i may have insulted someone and threw a shot glass."
"All of that is besides the point. I have 100 dollars. I'm so hungry."
"Get me something to eat. Keep the change." Brooke proclaimed.
Lucas smiled and laughed. Feeling under dressed in his blue polo and black jeans with grey sneakers.
"Table or counter.? Here's a menu." Lucas replied.
Brooke smiled up at him, "Thank you. Table would be great." She said.
Following him towards one of the booths.
Brooke placed down her cellphone and her purse.
"What is the Wifi password.?" Brooke asked.
"We don't have that hooked up. Sorry to disappoint you." Lucas stated.
Brooke's eyes went wide. She wasn't in her world anymore. Feeling more and more like Dorothy from the wizard of OZ.
She scanned the menu. Then looked to him.
"Where exactly are you coming from.?" Lucas questioned.
Brooke sighed deeply. "Business i had to leave my over life. Tying up loose ends. Nothing fun." She replied.
"I'm Lucas Scott. And you are.?" He asked.
"Are you joking.? I'm a Davis. Brooke Davis." She replied.
"I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't know who you are."
"You're just another customer to me. I don't mean to offend."
"Let me know what you want and i'll make it for you." Lucas said.
Brooke wasn't sure how to react. This man was treating her like anyone off the street.
"Fuck it. I might as well eat with my hands."
"Chili. Cornbread. Any kind of pie." She replied.
"Welcome to Tree Hill Miss Davis." Lucas said. Taking the menu to the kitchen with him.
