Karen's Cafe
Brooke pushed away the empty plates and finished off her tall glass of iced tea.
Lucas smiled as he walked back over to the booth where Brooke was seated.
He handed her a dessert menu. "What do you think.? Up to you're standards.?" Lucas asked.
Brooke smiled back at him. "Honestly this is the best food i've ever eaten. And that is saying alot let me tell you. Who is the cook here.?" She asked.
"Me. I run this cafe." Lucas informed her.
Brooke looked down at the name on the menu then back up at Lucas. "Why is this resturant called then.?" She questioned. Generally curious.
"It's named after my mom Karen Roe. The original owner."
"Take a look at the dessert menu. Let me know if you want anything." Lucas replied.
Brooke gazed over the menu and stared back at Lucas.
"Depends have eaten dessert tonight.? I was thinking of getting the chocolate cookie skillet. I'm sure you know that is a dessert more then one person can enjoy." Brooke questioned.
Lucas turned his eyes down. Quickly texting and read a reply. Before he looked to Brooke.
"I haven't and i can stay to have some but then i've gotta go." He replied.
"Fair enough. I'll have one order of the chocolate cookie skillet and two orders of hot chocolate. Please." Brooke requested. Handing off the dessert menu.
Awhile Later
Lucas emerged with the dessert and drink Brooke ordered. Bringing it over to where she was seated.
"Brooke grabbed a spoon and ate one serving after another.
"This brings me back to simpler times. I need to give you another tip. Because this is just what i needed."
"So tell me about yourself Lucas." Brooke said.
Lucas took a spoonful of the dessert then another. Thinking over what he wanted to share and what he preferred to keep to himself.
"I spent my whole life in Tree Hill. I have younger brother by 3 months named Nathan. He married my best friend Haley. They got married in high school. Are raising triplets who are 10 now. They had them at 17."
"I grew up playing basketball at the river court."
"Fixing cars at my uncle Keith's auto body shop."
"I would like to know about you Brooke." Lucas replied.
"I'm just you're everyday heiress. Who is now having to start over again in a town where i know no one."
"This is officially rock bottom. But at least i look cute." "I should let you go. I've taken up enough of you're time." Brooke replied.
"I'll see you around Brooke. And you know me. So you aren't fully on you're own." Lucas said.
Brooke left the cafe. Then watched as he locked up behind her. Making his way towards his car.
Once he drove away. Brooke walked towards her own car.
His name and face re appearing in her mind.
...
Brooke decided to just go to bed. She would unpack her boxes in the morning.
...
Lucas entered through the front door. Locking up behind himself.
"Daddy you're up. I was just thinking i'm old enough to stay home alone while you're at work. I'm 10. Not a baby. Almost a teenager in 3 years."
Lilly Scott explained.
"That isn't happening. You are too young to be left alone." "You are supposed to be fast asleep. You have school in the morning."
"Goodnight Lilly pad." Lucas replied.
