Hours Later

In the morning

Brooke awoke. Took a shower and dug clothes out of her boxes. She put on a neutral short sleeve top. Light wash jeans and black sandals.

She pulled her dark straight hair into a ponytail. Then decided to take this new free time she now had to get to know the town better by going for a walk. It was fall. Almost thanksgiving.

Yet the weather was still warm and Brooke planned to enjoy that for as much as she could.

She walked grabbed her house keys and her purse. Then headed straight out the door.

The morning sun warmed her face. She couldn't believe it. The cafe guy from last night was her one of her neighbors. His home right across from hers.

Brooke felt beyond fortunate to be able to use the money she had left to purchase and furnish her home.

But she knew in order to maintain a real life. She needed a job and that wasn't going to just fall in her lap she had to make it happen. And put herself out there.

...

Nixon Scott age 10. Emerged from his bedroom and clung tightly to one of his newest books he purchased with saved up allowance at the nearby bookstore.

He had curly blond hair and green eyes. He went down the stairs and into the living room.

Lucas finished up breakfast for the three of them. Plated it on the dining room table.

"Dad remember i have a playdate at aunt Haley's and uncle Nathan's later on today." Lilly announced. As she came into the kitchen.

"I'm going to drop you off right after school." He replied.

...

Later on that day

Brooke had filled online and in person applications throughout town she needed a break and the music she heard drew her inside Tric.

The endless faces and sense of belonging she felt in a familiar surrounding made her stay.

"Mr. Scott. What a nice surprise it is to run into you again. I owe you dinner." Brooke said.

With Lilly and Nixon off at Nathan and Haley's. The playdate now turned into a sleepover.

Lucas decided to take some time for himself.

"Forget about it. Consider it just me being a good neighbor." He replied.

"No i insist. Once i have some money to play around with. We can have dinner or breakfast." Brooke suggested.

"Dance with me.?" Lucas asked. Extending his hand to her.
