Fishbowl Diaries
Chapter 9
Awhile Later
And i fell from the pedestal
Right down the rabbit hole.
Long story short. It was a bad time.
The sun began to set. Turning the skin a combination of orange and pink. After enjoying a meal of home made macaroni and cheese. Garlic bread and oven fried chicken. Brooke found herself lingering in the hallway.
Hearing the door open and shut pulled her gaze up.
Lucas quietly made his way towards her.
Brooke smiled up at him.
"How did everything go.?" She asked.
Lucas smiled up at her. "They are fast asleep. This happens sometimes. They tire themselves out playing. Then there was looking forward to you're visit. Which caused them to not be able to sit still." Lucas explained.
"I put their homemade ice cream sundaes. In the fridge."
"I appreciate you entertaining them all evening. Dealing with two hyper 10 year old can be alot. Hopefully you weren't bored and enjoyed the evening.?" Lucas questioned.
"I loved today. It was wonderful. Fun."
"So it's safe to say they like me.?" Brooke asked.
"They barely left you're side all evening. They love you."
"They are picky. So their approval carries alot of weight."
"This friendship of ours. Is off to a very strong start." Lucas replied.
"Our next get together. Should be a movie night. At my house."
"I'll provide the snacks and entertainment."
"You just bring that face of yours." Brooke said.
"I will. Just give me a time and a day."
"Are you a fan of flowers or jewelry.? I think that's important information friends should know about each other." He questioned.
"Both." She replied.
"Good to know." Lucas said. Making a mental note to listen to Lilly's advice more often.
"You should get going. I'm sure you have things to do."
"Let me walk you out." Lucas proclaimed.
"Lucas you don't need to try to impress me in anyway."
"I like you. For the man you are and the father you are." Brooke replied.
"I like you too. But us being friends. Is the safest choice."
"No one get's hurt or attached." Lucas stated.
Brooke stared up at him. She took his hand in hers.
The two locked eyes as she leaned over and kissed him gently.
Lucas kissed her back hard. Pulling her closer to him.
Brooke let herself be taken into his arms. Feeling his hands touch her skin.
Made her feel freed. His caressing her gently.
At some point the kiss broke apart.
"Luke. I shouldn't of done that. It's too to worry about getting hurt or who's getting attached."
"I didn't come here wanting to care about anyone. But then i met you and nothing has ever felt more natural."
"I have to get home. I'm sorry." Brooke said. As she left the home in a hurry.
