Fishbowl Diaries
Chapter 10
The demons in the dark.
Lie again. Play pretend.
No one has to know.
Days Later
"Lilly and Nixon are counting down the hours to their birthday party tonight. They are turning 11. Time needs to slow down. I'm not ready for these next few years and everything that comes with it." Lucas admitted. Looking to his brother.
The two were seated across from each other. At one of the resturants in the plaza. For lunch. They met up at least once a week to catch up and hang out together.
"I know what you mean. Haley and I are in over our heads already with the questions and conversations we've started hearing from them and having in regards to growing up." Nathan replied.
"At least we can go through it all together. It's comforting to know we have each other for support." Lucas stated.
"Haley. Peyton and Rachel have been wondering where Brooke is.?"
"The two of you seem really close so i just thought i would ask." Nathan questioned.
He saw how merely mentioning the woman's name. Caused a reaction out of Lucas.
"What exactly is going on between the two of you.?" Nathan asked.
"I don't know what she's up too. Or where she is."
"I thought her and I were friends of some kind."
"But now i don't know what to make or her or how i felt about her."
"I shouldn't be focusing on this anyway. I have a birthday party to finish getting supplies for." Lucas replied.
"If you reached out to her. And she didn't reply."
"Maybe she has more going on then you know. Or maybe she's not sure what to say." Nathan suggested.
"We kissed. She kissed me and then ran off. That says everything doesn't it.?" Lucas replied. Getting up from his seat as he put the money down to pay the bill before leaving the resturant.
...
Awhile Later
Brooke had created this wall of distance between her and the new people in her life that she had grown to care about.
Especially when it came to Lucas and the children.
By kissing him. She crossed a line. A boundary she had set for herself.
Her dating history had resulted in nothing but regret and mistakes.
Her last relationship had ended in diaster. She had allowed herself to fall in love with him again. And he ripped her heart out. Leaving nothing but a shell of a person.
She couldn't do it again. Give her heart to a man. Have him become her world just to have it ripped away.
Make herself believe Lucas could be anything more then who he had become.
Her latest clothing order was ready for pick up.
She opened it. Her eyes going wide.
"Felix." Brooke said softly.
"Hey baby. Look at you. God it's so long."
"I've missed you." He said.
It had been a year. Since she had seen or spoken to him.
If she had known the person placing the order was connected to him or Anna she wouldn't of picked up the phone.
"What do you want.? And i know you aren't here just pick up clothes." Brooke questioned.
"I want you. Us. We can fix what went wrong and start over." He insisted.
"We can't. It's too late." Brooke replied.
"No it isn't. I can see it in you're eyes. On you're face. You want this too." Felix said.
Brooke felt his lips press against hers.
She wanted to push against him. Make him leave. Yet somehow.
It was the opposite. Clothes flew across her bedroom.
Brooke let herself get caught up in what she remembered.
He quieted the doubt and fear she carried.
At some point she awoke. Pulled on her robe and rushed downstairs.
The knocking at her front door. Made it clear someone wanted to see her.
When she opened the door and saw Lucas.
Her heart jumped into her throat.
"I know things are weird between us but if you want Lilly and Nixon are having their birthday at the house. You can join us.?" Lucas suggested.
"Brooke where are you.? Come back to bed." Felix exclaimed. Coming down the stairs with no shirt.
Lucas felt his heart sink. "I'm clearly interupting something. I'll just go." He stated. Before rushing out the entryway.
Brooke felt her body react. The look on Lucas's face.
"What happened here between us won't happen again." She clarified.
"I need to shower. I need to leave and not come back. We've been over for a year." Brooke said. Before turning from him and going up the stairs.
