Hours Later

The Scott Home

The house was decorated in blue and grey. Along with pink and purple. Food and drinks all from the cafe. Set out on the dining room table in the kitchen. A collage of pictures through the years of Nixon and Lilly.

The home was full of their friends along with family. Lucas enjoyed his home so filled with life.

The birthday cake was covered and secured away in the kitchen.

Haley/Nathan. Jake/Peyton. Mouth/Rachel. Skills/Bevin all kept watch over the kids and the party as a whole.

...

Brooke arrived with a bag in her hands. A gift inside for both Nixon and Lilly. Her plan was to simply drop it off then leave.

She didn't want to make this event uncomfortable or weird.

It was about the children. As it should be.

Brooke got the gifts out of the bag and placed them onto to the table besides other presents.

"I didn't think you were coming by." Lucas said.

Brooke swallowed hard as their eyes met. She could tell instantly. That he had his walls up.

"I wasn't going to come. But during that tour of the house after dinner. Lilly and Nixon mentioned their birthday coming up. That they wanted me to stop by."

"I didn't want to disappoint them." Brooke replied.

"That's nice of you. They are in the living room. Go ahead and say hi if you want." Lucas said.

"Lucas i can explain. Felix and I. Used to date and he just showed up randomly to pick up an outfit order. I didn't expect him to be there. Or for you to come by."

"He's gone now. Him and I just fell into old habits. It didn't mean anything." Brooke explained.

Lucas locked his gaze on her. "You don't owe me anything. What you do. Who you see. Isn't my business. We are adults. We are friends. And that's it." He replied.

Brooke sighed deeply. "We kissed. That means something. That wasn't a mistake. I care about you. I know i don't exactly show it well. You are the first decent good man. I've met in a long time." She proclaimed.

"I run a cafe. I'm raising two kids. Our lives work better apart then together. Let's just be honest about that." Lucas said.

"Brooke!" Lydia and Nixon exclaimed happily as they ran over to her.

She engulfed them in a hug.

"You have to stay!" Lilly insisted.

"Spend our birthday with us." Nixon insisted.
