Fishbowl Diaries
Chapter 20
"It's pathetic really. How in love Keith was with Karen."
"Whether he knew i was the father or not. He was going to raise that child with her. She was going to keep me away from kid again. I couldn't let that happen. So i made sure she she had no way of interfering."
"I've stayed away from Lilly long enough. I've kept tabs on you Luke. Running the cafe and all. I'm getting access to Lilly. I am her father. There is nothing you can to do change that."
"If you try and keep us apart. It won't end well for you." Dan warned.
"I figured at some point we would meet each other. What do you want.?" Lucas asked. Locking eyes with the man.
Unable to notice the familiar looks he noticed the shared obviously shared with Nixon.
"I want to meet him. Get to know him. I stayed away because i was a mess for a long time until the last few years." He explained.
"I went through my own issues back then. Sasha had her problems. But i loved her and i didn't imagine losing her so suddenly. I thought at least i had Nixon. Yet when i found out i wasn't."
"I got more protective over him." Lucas replied.
"Does Nixon know about me.? That you aren't his real dad.?" The man questioned.
Feeling himself cringe at the words real dad.
"No he doesn't. There is information him and Lilly need to know." Lucas said.
"Look man i'm not trying to get in the way or disturb the life you have going on. But i'm finally in a stable enough place to be a parent. Nixon is going to be my only child."
"I appreciate you looking out for him all these years." Richard Singer replied.
Lucas sighed deeply. "Give me you're contact information and we'll see what happens." He explained.
Richard handed off one of his spare business cards. Then left the cemetery.
Lucas wanted to rip up this card and forget both encounters with these men. But he couldn't. He knew he has to talk to Nixon and Lilly before they heard the news from town gossip.
...
After driving around aimlessly for an hour. Lucas found himself back at Brooke's house.
Once he was inside the home. He felt this sense of calm just at her presence.
"Nix and Lilly are upstairs unpacking their suitcases. I would of had them do that as soon as they got here but we started talking and time got away from us."
"They are amazing kids. All thanks to you. Being the greatest father they could ask for."
"So what brings you by.?" Brooke questioned.
Lucas felt unshed tears and emotion well up inside himself.
"I just missed you." Lucas said.
