Chapter 29
Author's Note : It's safe to say we all hate Richard. Lucas has reached a point in this situation where he realizes enough is enough. Thank you for the support.
Weeks Later
Lucas decided he could no longer deal with Richard on his own.
Which is why he reached out to the lawyer who helped him during the whole him getting custody of Lilly while he was still in high school.
Lucas explained in full how Richard came into their life and his connection to Nixon. Once he was finished. He looked to the older man.
"Does Richard have a chance at gaining custody of any kind.?" Lucas asked. Needing the truth.
Arthur Maxwell looked to Lucas.
"In a professional compacity. He's supposedly has gotten his life together. Has income coming in and wants to be his son's life. The court system believe in rehabiliation and second chances. So yes. You may end up having to share custody with him." Arthur explained.
Lucas felt a head ache begin. "That can't happen. He's a nightmare. He's trying to turn Nixon against me. Changing history as if he didn't stay away and keep in contact on purpose." He admitted.
"As you're friend. I will represent you. Do all i can to help."
"You said it yourself. Richard and Nixon are basically strangers with a DNA link but Richard is using Nixon being a child and naive to his advantage."
"You took on raising newborn babies when you were still a kid yourself. You're a fighter. Plus you have a support system. In you're friends and Brooke from what you've told me about her." Arthur added in.

Awhile Later
Lucas awaited in his car in front of the school. Awaiting Lilly and Nixon. When Lilly got into the car she explained all about her day and what her plans for the week are.
Nixon remained silent throughout the ride home.
Ever since the fight between Lucas and Richard happened.
Nixon has remained silent.
Unlike Lilly who expressed her feelings in an open manner.
Nixon was more reserved. He expressed he was upset in a more tone down manner.
Once Lucas drove them home. Lilly made it clear she would be talking to her friends until it was time for dinner.
Which only left Lucas and Nixon in the car.
"Nix. I know you're upset with me. For fighting with Richard. For not giving him a chance. But i was willing and open to it at first."
"But once i saw who he really was. I couldn't stand by and be nice."
"Richard is not a good person. He's entilted. Selfish. He doesn't know how to parent anyone. He made the choice to stay away all these years."
"He missed out on getting to know you. Which is totally his loss."
"I was and am just trying to protect you. That is my job."
"As you're dad. You have to understand how much i love you." Lucas insisted. The emotion in his voice thick.
"He's not what you think. If you really loved me you would do anything it takes to make him apart of my life. I want to live him." Nixon announced.
Lucas felt his stomach sink. And his heart drop.
As Nixon left the car minutes later.
Sometime Later
Lucas met with his friends and explained what the lawyer had told him. He had to prepare for a fight.
"We're here to support you in anyway we can." Haley replied.
"Just tell us what to do." Peyton added in.
He spent as much time as he could breaking down exactly what was needed from them all.

With Lilly spending time at Peyton and Jake's. And Nixon spending time with his uncle Skills and aunt Bevin.
Lucas had the rest of the night to himself. So instead of staying alone with his fear and worry he headed over to Brooke's.
She welcomed him into her home with open arms.
"We could talk about everything. Or nothing."
"I just want to be here for you." Brooke stated.
"Richard is determined to take Nixon away from me. He has convinced Nixon to move in with him. I just don't know how to handle this. I feel like i'm losing him and nothing in my life even makes anymore."
"I don't want to dump this on you. Let's change the subject." Lucas insisted.
"You spend day and night taking care of everyone else. Let me take care of you for a change." Brooke replied. Taking his hand as she lead the way upstairs to her bedroom.
Candles were lit and soft music played in the background as the couple allowed themselves to lower their guards and let each other in emotionally. In a way neither of them had ever experienced.
They talked until they fell asleep.
Lucas awoke first. He found himself feeling connected and closer to Brooke. Realizing what was building between them could possibly have a future after all.
