When the feeling went away and I could finally see again we were standing in the room with the mirror. I see Jr enter the room he stops when he sees a man standing before the Mirror of Erised.
"You?" Jr asked
The man turns around and shows Quirrell was the man standing in front of the mirror.
"No. It can't be…Snape. He was the one." Jr trials off
"Yes. He does seem the type, doesn't he? Next to me, who would suspect, p-p-poor s-stuttering Professor Quirrell?" Quirrell said
"B-but, that day, during the Quidditch Match, Snape tried to kill me." Jr said proudly at the thought
"No, you stupid boy. I tried to kill you! And trust me, if Snape's cloak hadn't caught fire and broken my eye contact, I would have succeeded. Even with Snape muttering his little counter-curse." Quirrell said
"Snape was trying to…save me. I doubt that git would do anything for me." Jr said
"I would have thought that you would have been more of a pain, but after Halloween, I knew you weren't going to be." Quirrell said
"You let the troll in." Jr said
"Very good Potter, yes. Snape, unfortunately, wasn't fooled. While everyone else was running to the dungeon, he went to the 3rd floor to head me off. He, of course, never trusted me again. He rarely left me alone." Quirrell said
Quirrell turns back around to face the mirror, I get a weird feeling but ignore it.
"But he doesn't understand. I'm never alone. Never. Now…what does this mirror do? I see what I desire. I see myself holding the stone. But how do I get it?" Quirrell asked
A raspy voice fills the room.
"Use the boy."
"Come here, Potter, now!" Quirrell yelled
Jr. the coward he is actually takes a step back. Quirrell moves forward and grabs ahold of Jr and pulls him so he stands in front of the mirror.
"Tell me. What do you see?" Quirrell asked
Jr looks in the mirror. None of us know what he sees but I can tell by his stance that he plans on lying. Especially when I notice that his pocket got a little bigger with the size of the stone.
"What is it?! What do you see?!" Quirrell yelled
"I-I'm shaking hands with Dumbledore. I've won the house cup." Jr said
"He lies." the raspy voice says
"Tell the truth! What do you see?!" Quirrell yelled
"Let me speak to him." the voice said
"Master, you are not strong enough." Quirrell said
"I have strength enough for this." the voice said
Quirrell unwraps his turban and on the opposite side of his face, another face is planted. It is Voldemort who appears kind of like a snake. He stretches out and faces Jr via the mirror.
"We meet again." Voldemort said
"You're V-V-V-Voldemort." Jr stuttered out
"Yes. You see what I have become? See what I must do to survive? Live off another. A mere parasite. Unicorn blood can sustain me, but it cannot give me a body of my own. But there is something that can. Something, that conveniently enough, lies in your pocket!" Voldemort said
Is that really you?
No, that thing is something that has been tormented by life as nothing and been twisted by the madness that comes with drinking unicorn blood. -Tom said disgustedly
Jr. turns and tries to run away.
"Stop him!" Voldemort yells
Quirrell snaps his fingers and fire erupts all around the room. Jr is stuck in the room and Adom and I have to move as we were standing where the fire now burned. Thankfully we were still not seen by the two people in the room.
"Don't be a fool! Why suffer a horrific death when you can join me and live?!" Voldemort said
Jr shakes his head.
"Never." Jr yells
"Haha. Bravery. Your parents had it too, but they were easily defeated. Tell me don't you want to protect your parents and your godparents. Together, we can protect them. All I ask for is something in return." Voldemort said
Jr's hand goes to his pocket.
"That's it. There is no good and evil. There is only power, and those too weak to seek it. Together, we'll do extraordinary things. Just give me the stone!" Voldemort said
His hands grab ahold of the stone and pulls it from his pocket.
"Is he really going to hand it over?" Adom asked
"Looks like it. But it does not matter." I said
"No." Jr said
"Kill him!" Voldemort yelled
Quirrell soars into the air and smashes into Jr, one hand on Jr's throat. They fall to the steps. The stone falls out of Jr's reach as Quirrell chokes him. Jr strains and squeaks, but soon stops moving. For a moment it looks like he is gone, but his chest is moving which shows he is just unconscious. Quirrell moves and picks up the stone. He looks so happy that he has it, but the smile soon fades once he finds it to be fake.
"No!" Voldemort yells
I start to slowly clap and step out from where I was standing, Adom following behind me. Once I stood a short distance away from Quimort I stopped clapping.
"That didn't last as long as I thought it would." I said
"What are you doing down here Miss. O'Connell?" Quirrell asked
"I don't want to talk to you Quirrell. I want to talk to the mass on the back of your head." I said
"How dare you talk to me like that you no good half-blood." Quirrell yelled
I rolled my eyes and flicked my hand at him, which sent him flying.
"I am really over everyone in this god-forsaken world looking down on me because of my blood. Especially when you yourself are a half-blood as is the thing on the back of your head." I said
Quirrell stood up and turned so that Voldemort was facing me.
"Hi, Tom." I said
Voldemort made a sound of outrage and advanced on me. He reached out and I stopped his hand mere inches from my face.
"How dare you use that name!" Voldemort yelled
"Oh I dare, and I dare to do more. You are nothing as you are right now. Nothing but a shell of a shell." I said
"You know nothing!" Voldemort yelled
"Oh, I know a lot. A version of you has told me a lot." I said
Voldemort stepped back and looked at me.
"Who are you?" Voldemort asked
"Amara O'Connell the current Slytherin Queen." I said
"You are nothing but a First Year." Quirrell said
I rolled my eyes.
"At least he said because you are a first-year and nothing about your blood." Adom said
"True." I said
"How have you talked to a different version of me?" Voldemort asked
I was going to say something but a sand soldier formed.
"Your Grace. People are coming. They are at the trap door." the soldier said
"What was that?" Voldemort asked
"Something you will never see again, and to answer your other question. October 31st, 1981 I was the child you pointed your wand at. I was the child that defeated you, I was the child that was thrown away. I am the person who will bring the Wizarding World to its knees. I was Amara Rose Potter." I said
Voldemort's eyes grew huge. I drew my wand and with a swift blast of an Ancient Egyptian spell Quirrell fell to the floor dead and Voldemort was gone from his body. While I was dealing with Quirmort, Adom was doing mind magic on Jr.
"Have you finished?" I asked
"Yes" Adom said
We were grabbed by a sand soldier and that feeling soon came back.
...
We landed back in my dorm room.
"Continue to watch and report." I said
The soldier nodded his head and disappeared.
"That went well." Adom said
"It did we will have to wait and see what tomorrow brings." I said
"That we will." Adom said
We were both silent for a moment.
"Goodnight." I said
"Goodnight." Adom replied
He turned and left the room. I moved over to my closet to grab a change of nightclothes. I quickly change and head to bed.
...
By the end of the next day, the entire castle knew of what happened under the trap door. Jr was worshipped and was coddled by his parents and Sirius. I could also tell by looking at Dumbledore that he knew something was wrong and not just about the fact that the stone was fake. I told the court about what had happened and that for the entire year Voldemort was on the back of Quirrell's head. Most looked disgusted that a man their parents and even grandparents worshipped was nothing but a parasite and feed on unicorn blood. I smiled at the fact that they were slowly losing all the faith they had in the man. Tom however was not happy with me for telling them about his current self.
...
We were all seated in the Great Hall the Slytherins were happy as we had won the house cup and green banners hung around the ceiling. Dumbledore, McGonagall, Senior, Lily, and Sirius were all at the head table looking suspicious.
"This isn't going to be good." I said
"What do you mean?" Theo asked
"Look at the head table, what do you see?" I asked
The group looked up at the table and soon they understood what I was talking about. Dumbledore stands and the hall becomes silent.
"Another year gone. And now, as I understand it, the house cup needs awarding, and the points stand thus. In fourth place, Gryffindor with 312 points. Third place, Hufflepuff, with 352 pints. In second place, Ravenclaw, with 426 points. And in first place, with 472 points Slytherin." Dumbledore said
There is immense cheering from our table and looks of anger from Gryffindor.
"Yes, yes, well done Slytherin, well done Slytherin. However, recent events must be taken into account. And I have a few last-minute points to award. To Miss Hermione Granger, for the use of cool intellect when others were in great peril, 50 points." Dumbledore said
There is applause from the Gryffindor table. Jr pats Hermione on the back.
"Second, to Mr. Ronald Weasley, for the best-played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years, 50 points." Dumbledore said
Once again applause fills the Gryffindor table.
"He is going to give them the cup." I said
"He can't." Cassius says
"Third, to Mr. James Potter Jr, for pure nerve and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor house 60 points." Dumbledore said
Applause fills the table for the third time.
"We are tied with Slytherin!" Hermione said
"And finally, it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends. I award 10 points to Neville Longbottom." Dumbledore said
Immense cheering erupts. Neville has a look of disgust on his face for a second.
"Assuming that my calculations are correct, I believe that a change of direction is in order." Dumbledore said
He claps and the green banners change to Gryffindor red.
"Gryffindor wins the House Cup!" Dumbledore said
The Gryffindor table was loud as were most of the teachers. I did take note of those who weren't happy about the last-minute points. The Gryffindors stand and throw their hats into the air. Some of the Hufflepuffs also throw their hats but it seems that it was only the seventh year. None of the Slytherin's nor the Ravenclaw's throw up a hat.
"He really gave them the house cup, for nothing." Jugson said
"I think it is ridiculous that Weasley got 50 points for playing a game of chess." Draco said
"I agree if anything the girl should have gotten the most points for actually using her brain." Theo said
The rest of dinner was a silent affair as most of us were upset about what happened.
...
We are all now at the train station loading.
"Come on now, hurry up. You'll be late. The train's leaving. Go on. Go on. Come on. Hurry up." Hagrid yells
The court as well as myself and Adom were already sitting in a compartment, watching as everyone ran around trying to get on the train and find a compartment. The train waits another good ten minutes before it lunches and we are off. A good hour passes before I decided to get up and walk around the train. While I was walking in ended up running into Neville.
"Good Morning, Neville. How are you doing today?" I asked
"Not good actually. I've been trying to hide from my housemates all day." Neville said
"Whys that?" I asked
"Because of those stupid points that were given to me at the feast. I didn't even do anything and everyone is trying to congratulate me." Neville said
"What even happened?" I asked
"They were going to sneak out, I tried to stop them. Hermione petrified me. I really didn't do anything. Dumbledore just gave me the points so that Gryffindor would win." Neville said
We were both silent for a moment before I got an idea.
"Follow me Neville." I said
"Where are we going?" Neville asked
"To my compartment." I said
We walked down a few of the train cars till we came back to the car at the end of the train. The door was green and trimmed with silver. There were also two snakes crossing on the door. Once Neville and I were standing in front of the door the snakes moved and the doors opened. Neville and I stepped in, the court that had once been talking stopped.
"Boy's I would like for you to meet Neville Longbottom." I said
"Morning Heir Longbottom." Jugson said
"Neville I would like you to meet a few people." I said
I then went ahead and pointed out everyone that was in the train car. They all said their hellos to him. I moved and sat back down in my seat. Neville just stood by the door and didn't move.
"Neville come sit, we should talk." I said
Neville nods his head and walks over to me, when he gets to us another chair appears. Neville sits down.
"Do you still want to come over this summer so we can talk your Grandmother into getting you your own wand?" I asked
"If you still want me to." Neville said
"Of course I do." I said
"You shouldn't be using a wand that didn't choose you. It's bad for you magical core." Cassius said
"See it's decided. When we arrive at the train station I'll introduce you to my parents and then we can set up a date." I said
Neville smiled at me. The group went back to what they were doing.
"So you said you had a little brother." Neville said
"Yes I do his name is Alexander, but he likes to be called Alex. He only gets called by his full name when he is in trouble." I said
Neville nods his head.
"What is it like to have a sibling?" Neville asked
"Sometimes it is fun, but most of the time he is irritating. However, I still love him and I would gladly kill to protect him." I said
The train car went silent for a moment and everyone looked at me. I smiled at them all before turning back to Neville.
"Also I should warn you and well everyone about my Uncle Jonathan. Never tell him you have money, or that you will be getting money. Don't show him ANY sort of treasure, and never tell him you have treasure." I said
"Why?" Graham asked
"My Uncle is obsessed with treasure and gold. To put it mildly, he almost died trying to get a huge gold diamond off the top of a pyramid that was being sucked into the desert." I said
The group nodded their head in understanding.
...
By the time the train arrived at the train station we had all talked and everyone was pretty okay with Neville. Jugson even kind of took Neville under his wing and they started talking about Heir business, and proper things. Adom and I just exchanged looks. We said our goodbyes in the car and then headed to our respective parents. I made my way towards my family and was tackled by Alex in a hug.
"Rose! Your home." Alex said
"Yes, brother I am home. I'll be home till September." I said
Alex smiled.
"Want to meet a friend of mine from school?" I asked
"Sure." Alex said
I stood back up and looked at Neville, I motioned over at Neville and he came over.
"Neville I would like for you to meet my brother Alex. Alex I would like for you to meet Neville Longbottom." I said
Alex extended his hand for Neville to shake. Neville took his hand. Mom and Dad then took that moment to come over as well.
"Who is this young man?" Mom asked
"Mom, Dad, I would like for you to meet a friend of mine. This is Neville Longbottom we are in the same year just different houses." I said
"It is very nice to meet you Nevi-" Dad was cut off my mom elbowing him in the side
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Longbottom." Mom said
"You as well." Neville said
"Mom, I was wondering if sometime this summer Neville and maybe his Grandma could come over for dinner?" I asked
"Of course. As long as his Grandmother is okay with the idea." Mom said
Neville went to say something but a short woman with greying hair walked up to us.
"Grandmother." Neville said
"Neville." his grandmother said
Lady Longbottom smiled at Neville and then turned to look at us. We were all silent for a moment.
"Grandmother, I would like for you to meet Adom Fadil, Amara O'Connell, and her family. Adom and Amara are in my year at school we are just in different houses." Neville said
"It is very nice to meet you, Lady Longbottom." I said
She smiled at me.
"You as well." She said
"Actually, I was hoping that maybe sometime this summer both yourself and Neville could join us for dinner." I said
"Thank you for the invitation. We will have to see what our summer has in store." Lady Longbottom said
"Of course." I said
We said a few quick goodbyes and they left, we left shortly after them. When we got outside the train station and headed to a car I let out a laugh.
"I see you finally got a new car dad." I said
"I did and it has rules." Dad said
"What kind of rules?" I asked
"Your Uncle and brother aren't allowed to touch it or the keys. Also, it will never go anywhere there might be something that can come back from the dead." Dad said
I start laughing as we all pile into the car. When we got home Jonathan was waiting for us. He hugged me and we headed into the house.
"Why don't you two go put your stuff away, get changed, and then come back down so we can eat dinner." Mom said
"Okay." I said
Adom and I turned and headed upstairs, we spilt off to head to our separate rooms. I didn't waste time in putting anything away, I simply put my trunk down and headed into the closet to change. I simply put on comfy clothes and headed back downstairs. I meet the family in the dining room, Adom wasn't far behind me. We all sat down and started to eat. Alex told me about what was going on at his school and how he made a friend. When dinner was done we left the dining room and moved into the living room to talk about how the rest of our school year went.
"So sweetie how was the rest of your school year?" Mom asked
"It was nice. I believe that both Adom and I did well on our year-end exams. I faced off against a crazy parasite. I didn't really have to deal much with the Potter's nor the Black." I said
"Parasite?" Dad asked
"Yeah, so if a wizard knows how there are ways to beat death. Voldemort was smart and found a way. He managed to latch himself on the back of one of our teacher's head. So he was able to live off of the teacher's life as well as the blood of unicorns." I said
"Wait, unicorns are real?" Jonathan asked
"Out of all that, all you got was the unicorn." I said
"Yes, now are they truly real?" Jonathan asked
"Yes, Uncle unicorns are very much real. In fact, there are even wands out there that have unicorn hair cores." I said
Jonathan got a greedy smirk on his face.
"Don't even try they would sooner kill you then let you get close." I said
Jonathan looks disappointed and hoped he would put unicorns out of his head. After that, we continued to talk about what had happened at school.
"So did you make any friends Rose?" Alex asked
"Of course, you meet Neville." I said
"You only made one?" Mom asked
"There are others, but I'm not sure I would say were are friends." I said
"I say different. I would say that Theo is your friend. The others are somewhat friends." Imhotep said
"Others?" Dad asked
"Yes first there was Nott, then Jugson, followed by Warrington and Pucey. Oh let's not forget Malfoy." Imhotep said
"What kind of name is Warrington?" Jonathan asked
"A last name. Theodore Nott is in the same year as us, as is Draco Malfoy. Marcus Jugson was a sixth-year. Cassius Warrington who was a third-year. Adrian Pucey was a fourth-year." I said
"The wizarding world has some strange names." Dad said
"Yes, they do. However, I wouldn't say that in front of any of them. Wizards and witches are very proud people." I said
Dad nodded his head. We continued to talk and soon Mom announced that it was time for bed and that we had all summer. We said our good night and head to our rooms.
...
The first month of summer break had passed. Imhotep and I talked to the others through letters and I had succeeded in convincing Neville's Grandmother into coming over for a dinner. Which is why I was currently running around the house making sure everything was perfect. I had even made sure that Jonathan wasn't going to be anywhere close to this dinner. Once I made sure everything was set up and ready I went upstairs to check on what everyone was wearing.
"Amara calm down everything is going to be fine. Why are freaking out?" Mom asked
"We have wands. Our wand can help us channel our magic. However, if we use a wand that is not right for us it can hurt our magic. Neville's Grandmother is making him use a wand that isn't right for him. So his magic isn't able to do what it needs to. I'm hoping that if this dinner goes nice I can somehow get her to let him get his own wand." I said
"So you are planning to manipulate an old lady?" Mom asked
"You make it sound so bad when you put it that way. I like to think of it as helping out a friend in need." I said
Mom and Dad both just look at me. I gave them a few more things to do before leaving and heading to my room to change. Once I was changed and okay with the way I looked I left my room so that I could go down to the fireplace. A few minutes pass and the others are soon down by the fireplace.
"Okay, they should be here at any moment, remember that the Longbottom's are part of something called the Sacred Twenty-Eight. That means that they are important." I said
"But aren't you more important?" Alex asked
"Yes, but no one knows that. I would like to keep it that way." I said
They all nod their heads. Mom went to say something but one of the cooks walked in.
"Sorry to bother you guys, but everything is ready. Do you require anything else?" he asked
"Is everything on the table?" I asked
"Yes." he said
"Then you may leave for the night, thank you." I said
"Of course Mistress." the man said
Then the man turned and left the room. Not even a minute later the fire turns green and Neville steps out. He moves out of the way, and his grandmother follows close behind.
"Good evening Lady Longbottom. I would like to thank you for joining us for dinner." I said
"Well between yourself and Neville it was hard to say no." Grandma Longbottom said
I simply give her a hopefully warm smile.
"If you would like to follow us into the dining room." Mom said
We all walked into the dining room where the table was full of different types of food. I made sure there was a wide variety of food. We all sat down, Dad was at one end of the table and Lady Longbottom was at the other.
"I was not too sure what you liked to eat Lady Longbottom so I made sure we had a little bit of everything." I said
"That was very thoughtful of you." Lady Longbottom said
We all started to eat.
"So how did you and my Grandson become friends?" She asked
Neville and I looked at each other for a moment.
"We actually didn't get a chance to really met and talk till closer to the end of the year. I was coming back from the library and found him sitting alone in the corridor. He was upset about some things that his classmates had said, we talked and I helped him out." I said
Lady Longbottom looked and Neville then to me.
"What was said and by who?" she asked
"James Potter Jr and Ron Weasley. They were picking on Neville and calling him a squib. All because he wasn't able to do a spell. I sat down and helped him. I told him about looking inside of himself to find his core. After that, the spells worked better but it was still less than what it should be." I said
I saw Lady Longbottom give him a look of disappointment.
"Mostly because he isn't using a wand that isn't right for him." I said
She turned and looked at me.
"I gave him that wand, it was his father's wand. He will use it." Lady Longbottom said
"So you are fine with your Grandson, the heir to the Longbottom line using a wand that is slowly destroying his core? Using a wand that is making him look like he has no magic? Of trying to force magic into a wand that could hurt the wand?" I asked
Lady Longbottom looked at me.
"Who are you to question me?" Lady Longbottom
"I am simply a friend worried about your grandson." I said
She continued to look at me.
"Why don't we just give it a chance? What harm would come from taking me to get a wand of my own?" Neville asked
His Grandmother stopped looking at me and looked at Neville. I noticed that the rest of the family just continued to eat as if nothing was happening. However Adom was giving us a look, he was prepaid to come to my aid.
"You may not like the idea of him using his own wand, but it needs to happen. He is not his father, he is not your son. He is your grandchild you are supposed to take care of him. But you haven't, it is not a secret in school about how his family has treated him, everyone knows that he does not have the protection of his family. Which means he is everyone's practice dummy." I said
Lady Longbottom looked back at Neville who sat as if he was the bravest man in the world.
"I will be getting a new wand when we go to school shopping this year. In fact, I will be getting new everything. I won't use wear dad's old clothes or use his old potion ingredients and cauldron. I will be my own person and use my own things." Neville said
Lady Longbottom looked like she wanted to argue but she smiled.
"Very well Neville." Lady Longbottom said
After that, we all went back to eating as if nothing had happened. When dinner was done I made the dishes disappear from the table.
"Would you like to move to the living room for some evening tea?" I asked
"Yes." Lady Longbottom said
We all moved into the living room and found a seat, and the tea started to be served.
"So Neville didn't tell me much about yourself or your family. Do you mind telling me anything? I only ask because I would like to know the person that turned my grandson into a lion." Lady Longbottom said
"I don't mind Lady Longbottom, it's just a long and somewhat sad story." I said
"I have time, and you may call me Augusta." Augusta said
"Very well. When I was about two my parents decided they didn't want me so they gave me to my mother's sister. The sister and her husband didn't like me because I was a freak and had magic, and they taught their son the same." I said
"So your parents were muggles?" Augusta asked
"No. My birth mother was a muggle-born and my birth father is a pure-blood." I said
Augusta looked horrified.
"They are alive?" she asked
"Yes, they are. They even keep my brother." I said
Augusta's look of horror became one of disgust and rage.
"What horrible people. Magical children are meant to be cherished and loved, not thrown away. Please continue" Augusta said
"The people that I lived with took a trip to Egypt. One night when I went to sleep I woke up to the man throwing me out of a car in the middle of the desert, I was five. By some luck or magic, I was able to find shelter." I said
"That is where she found us." Dad said
Augusta smiled.
"You seem to have adjusted to her being a witch very easily." Augusta said
"Well mainly due to what happed shortly after finding me." I said
"What happened?" Neville asked
"Do you remember when the plagues of Egypt happened a few years ago?" I asked
"Yes." she said
"Well, that was caused when Evelyn read from the Book of Dead and awoke a mummy. When he woke up he bought the plagues of Egypt with him. So they knew about magic from that." I said
I noticed Adom smirking on my left.
"But it wasn't all bad we used what was happening to scare the people who left her." Dad said
"Anyways after we handled everything they adopted me. We even had the goblins work a bit of their magic." I said
"Yeah, in both the muggle and magical world Amara is our daughter." Mom said
Augusta smiled at that, but I could see the shock in her eyes.
"I know it was a bit confusing but mom wrote two things about what happened. You can read them in the magical world." I said
"I will. If you don't mind me asking do you know who your birth parents are?" Augusta asked
"I don't mind you asking. I do know who they are but I don't care. They mean nothing to me, and they are nothing to me. They didn't want me and they never checked on me, so as far as I'm concerned they are nothing." I said
"This may be an odd question but are they dark or light?" Augusta asked
Tom, should I tell her?
It's up to you. She was part of that old man's group in the first war, as was her son and daughter-in-law. -Tom said
"They are light, in fact in another life Neville would have been my Godbrother." I said
Augusta's eyes grew huge and she actually choked a little bit on her tea.
"Grandmother are okay?" Neville asked
"I'm fine Neville. Can I speak to you in private, Amara?" She asked
"Of course." I said
I stood up as did she. We moved to leave the room. Adom got up to follow.
"I'll be fine." I said
"But." Adom said
"Stay." I said
Adom glared at me but sat back down. I lead Augusta back into the dining room. She looked at me.
"You are Amara Potter?" Augusta asked
"At one point I was, but I'm sad to say that Amara Potter died in the Egyptian desert. Amara O'Connell was born in her place." I said
