Chapter 38

Don't fight it
We've been fighting for far too long.
Hearts racing like a rocket at the speed of light.
Brooke's eyes went wide. Her mind racing with thoughts.
She was stunned. She tried to speak but couldn't.
"Brooke Davis speechless. That's a first. I know this is coming out of nowhere. I don't even have a ring. I didn't plan to ask you like this. It seems random. Spur of the moment. But i promise you it isn't."
"I've been thinking about this for a long time."
"What about Lilly and Nixon." Brooke began to say.
"They will be thrilled. Lilly will want to help in every way she's allowed too. They love you. They've been connected to you from the start." Lucas replied.
"I've felt connected to them too. It isn't about that."
"They deserve the best mother possible. What if i can't and what they need.? What do i know about being a mom.? I don't want to let them down. To disappoint them. Not to be enough." Brooke confessed.
The expression on Lucas's face softened. "You don't have to worry about that. You will learn and figure it out as you go. You lead with you're heart. The rest will fall into place."
"You are more then enough for them." He reassured her.
Brooke took a deep breath. Processed his words then looked to him.
"Yes. I will marry you." Brooke replied.
Lucas wrapped her in his arms and kissed her hard.
Brooke kissed him back. When they broke apart.
He ran his fingers through her hair.
"Spend the night. We can tell the kids in the morning." He suggested.
"Sounds great." Brooke replied.
As Lucas took her hand in his and lead the way towards his bedroom.

Hours Later
In the morning
At some point Brooke had changed into some of Lucas's clothes. A t shirt and shorts to sleep in. When she awoke. He was still asleep.
She smiled and kissed him before climbing out of bed. Leaving the bedroom and making her way into the kitchen.
Her cooking skills were limited at this point but she knew how to make a few things and wanted to make breakfast for her new family.
God she loved the way that sounded. Family.
When she had finished preparing and plating breakfast it was then that she heard footsteps.
"Brooke you're here. We thought you went home." Nixon said.
"We're happy to see you." Lilly added in.
"I would of gone home. But you're dad insisted i spend the night."
"How are you Nixon.? You went through alot in just a few hours." Brooke questioned.
"I'm okay. I'm just glad it's all over and that my dad was so willing to forgive me." Nixon replied.
"My favorite people in the same room. Perfect timing. Brooke and I have big news to share." Lucas said. As he entered the kitchen and went over to where Brooke was.
"We got engaged last night." Brooke announced with a smile.
