*Outside the gate at Ryu's Mansion

~ Eevee

I pushed the button on the intercom to speak.

"Hello?"

"Hello this is Lucario Manor. Who am I speaking to?"

"Yes hello this is Eevee. I'm a friend of Ryu. I'm here to visit him."

"Master Ryu was not expecting any visitors today. I'm very sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to lea-"

"Who are you speaking to?"

I heard Ryu say on the other line.

"Oh Master Ryu! I was speaking to a Miss Eevee. She's requesting permission to see you sir."

"Let her in."

"Ah- Very well sir. Miss Eevee I will open the gate for you."

"Thank you."

The intercom shut off and the gates opened up. I quickly headed inside walking through the driveway up to the mansion that cut through a forest.

*15 minutes later

I reached the top with the enourmous Lucario Manor in full view. Being careful not to step on the grass and staying on the driveway.

I approached the massive doors and knocked.

Ryu answered the door with an all too familiar pokemon that I did not want to see clinging his arm tightly.

"What are you doing here?"

Fennekin actually had the audacity to be asking me.

"I should be asking you the same question."

"Well I'm his girlfriend. Are you trying to steal my Ryu away from me too?"

"No he's one of my best friends you stupid idiot. A good friend. Something you don't seem to understand."

"How dare you! Ryu she's being mean to me! Do something about it!"

I turned to Ryu with my arms crossed daring him to try. He looked like that was the last thing he wanted to do.

"I'll escort her out. I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Alright. Don't take too long coming back."

Ryu said nothing as he pulled away from her after she kissed his cheek. He made movements to pull me by my arm until I pulled away at the last second.

"Don't. I can walk by myself."

"Alright."

We started walking back to the exit. Ryu kept making glances back to manor as we went.

I was starting to wonder why when he tapped my shoulder after Fennekin closed the door.

"This way."

I followed him towards the nature archway with it's blossoms in bloom. Before I could ask why he brought me here Ryu pulled me into a tight embrace.

"Wha-"

"I'm so sorry."

"For what?"

"For being such a fu*king idiot. And an even worse friend."

He pulled away and I proceeded to flick his nose.

"Ouch."

"You should be."

I walked towards the terrace to get a better view of the lake below.

"How have you been Eevee?"

"Oh just trying to fix the mess you made."

"I see."

"Thanks for not kicking me out by the way."

"Why would I kick out my best friend?"

"I don't know. It just seems like you'd listen to everything your girlfriend says nowadays."

Ryu sighed and awkwardly rubbed the back of his head. Maybe I was being a little too harsh on him.

"H-how is she doing?"

"Who?"

"Evelyn."

"Why don't you ask her yourself?"

"Eevee..."

"Alright alright. Just about how you would expect after getting humiliated and her heart crushed. Couldn't you have handled it better?"

"I know I'm sorry."

"Tell her then."

"I can't."

"Ryu!"

"I can tell her I'm sorry. But I meant how I feel about her and how much I screwed up."

"O-oh."

Despite his sad expression he was blushing at the mention of her.

"But wait if you like Evelyn then why are you with Fennekin?"

"It's complicated."

"Try me."

Ryu looked at me with his rare serious expression as if seeing as if I really wanted to listen.

"And you don't have to check my aura either."

Ryu merely shook his head and chuckled a bit.

"Well I guess it started even before Fennekin kissed me. My dad told me to be careful with who I wanted to be in a romantic relationship with."

"Why did he say that?"

"Because as long as I could not control my aura I could seriously injure the girl I love. And not even that will keep her safe."

"Alright but why did you pick Fennekin of all pokemon?"

"On Valentines Day I was hoping it to be Evelyn. But then Fennekin was there offering a gift to me. I thought about what my father said and maybe if I was with a girl I only kind of cared about, I wouldn't have to worry about hurting her. So I accepted hers and the next thing I knew she was kissing me. We became official on White Day after I gave my gift to Fennekin and Evelyn saw us together. Before I could try to fix it the damage was already done. And Fennekin was now my girlfriend."

"Do you like her?"

"Well I-"

"Nevermind forget I asked. However you feel about her is your business. But are you going to apologize to Evelyn?"

"Yes I will."

"Good that's all I wanted to know."

We stood there looking down at the scenery in silence.

"Eevee what do I do?"

"I think you-"

We were interupted by Ryu's phone ringing. He pulled it out and sighed at when he saw who was calling.

"It's Fennekin. She's probably wondering where I am. Today's date night."

"Oh don't let me keep you."

"Bye Eevee."

"Bye Ryu."

As Ryu headed back to the manor I headed back to the entrance I couldn't help but sigh.

"Why do I have to be in the middle of my friends love triangle?"
