I walked to school with my head down. I was avoiding my friends although it made me hurt on the inside.

I know what I said to Eevee about not caring if she was talking to Ryu or not, but I still couldn't bring myself to talk to anyone. As petty as it sounds I can't talk to Eevee because I'm jealous of her relationship.

Have I really learned nothing since I moved here? Why do I have to be like this?

I was walking to class when I froze to see Ryu and Fennekin talking by the soda machine. She noticed me staring at them and before Ryu could turn around she pulled him into a kiss.

Instead of letting my anger or jealousy get the better of me I ignored them and continued heading to class.

I mouthed to Fennekin as I walked past, "Still doing that to get a reaction out of me? Grow up."

I smiled as she glared at my smug look.

The rest of the semester I spent ignoring everyone. All the way to summer vacation.

*June 21st, 2553

Next week it will be my birthday. From the looks of it I'll be spending it alone.

I sat on a bench in the shade eating a popsicle. I held a paw over my face to shield my eyes from the sun.

Phew! It's way too humid for an Ice Type. I'm melting.

"Hi Evelyn."

"Huh?"

I looked in surprise to see Froakie.

"Oh hey."

"May I ask why you're all alone?"

"I just prefer to be alone."

Damn. Why was I even telling him this? Why am I even talking right now?

"You don't sound too sure when you say that."

"What do you know? You're always being timid all the time."

"Being timid all the time leaves you to always be alone. Their practically two sides of the same coin."

I said nothing in response because it was true. What a hypocrite I was being right now.

"Evelyn?"

"*sigh What?"

"Will you go on a date with me?"

"What?"

"Uh not an actual date-date just a practice date."

"A practice date?"

"I just want to see if I can actually go on a date with a girl. So..."

"I get that but why me?"

"I would ask Eevee but I think it would be wierd to ask a girl that has a boyfriend. And you seem like you could use some company so wouldn't it be nice to just go out with someone?"

"Umm..."

Since when has Froakie ever been this forward? Have I stepped into another world or is he maturing?

And he was asking me of all pokemon? How cute.

"You know what it probably was a dumb idea. I don't know why I asked. I'll just go now. Sorry to have bothered you."

"No no no. Wait!"

I said as I stood up and grabbed his arm.

"Yes I'll go on a practice date with you."

"Oh okay, how does tommorrow at 5 sound?"

"Sounds perfect."

"You know where the mall is?"

"Yeah I do. I'll seeya tommorrow then."

"Yeah I'll see you."

Froakie said as he walked away trying to hide his tomato face. I laughed in spite of myself and went home with a rare smile on my face.

*June 22nd, 2553

*4:30pm

I put the finishing touches of my eyeshadow on my face before I stepped back to look at myself in the mirror.

I rarely put on makeup but I didn't look too bad.

I heard a knock at my door and I told dad to come in.

"Evelyn sweetheart, ready to go on your date?"

"It's a practice date dad."
"Still I can't believe how much my little girl has grown up. She's just shy of her 15th birthday. Your mother would be proud of you."
"Ugh dad stop you're so embarassing."
"I love you too Evelyn."
"I do too. Anyways, I'm surprised you're okay with this. I thought you would beat me to a date first since your single."
"I may be single but I still love your mother very much. Besides do you really want your old man to start dating?"
"Eww no, now I can't get that image out of my head."
"I'll bring 10 womon home."
"Eww dad no stop."
"I'm just kidding. Oh Evelyn, didn't you say the practice date was around 5? It's 4:35."
"Oh yeah you're right! I should be on the train already. I'll see you later dad!"
"Don't stay out too late Evelyn. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
"DAD!"
"I'M ONLY KIDDING!"
*At the mall
I smoothed out my ribbon hair as I looked around for Froakie. He waved me over from a flower shop.
When I approached him I noticed that he wore a gray button up shirt with short sleeves. Not too bad attire.
I wore a black tank top with purple stripes with matching eyeshadow and black arm sleeves.
"Hi Froakie."
"Hi Evelyn. Oh these are for you."
He handed me a bouquet of white lillies much to my surprise.
"Is it too much?"
"Nah this is fine. Thank you."
I accepted the flowers and couldn't help but sniff them.
"Ready to go eat?"
"Sure let's go."
We went to the food court and the lighting and seating was better from last time. We picked a table for two.
"Hi I'm Jigglypuff, I'll be your server today. What would you two like to drink?"
"I'll have a soda."
"Okay and you sir?"
"Just some water."
"Alrighty, here are the menus. I'll give you two a few minutes to pick something to eat."
"Okay thank you."
"My pleasure. And good luck."
She said with a wink in Froakie's direction which made his face go beet red.
"So...Froakie, how have you been?"
"I've been good."
"Oh great. I heard you won 1st place in the art contest at school. What did you draw?"
Froakie pulled out his phone and scrolled through his photos before he handed it to me.
On the screen a painting was displayed showing Eevee and Sylveon dancing with a large fountain behind them. Their faces looked so happy and water was splashing around them making their dance look more beautiful and elegant.
"I asked for permission to paint them together and they both eagerly agreed. I always wanted to paint them because of how happy they look. They both loved my painting and I gave it to Eevee. She hung it up in her room. I felt so flattered."
"That sounds like Eevee alright. This painting is beautiful by the way."
I said as I gave his phone back to him.
The date went pretty well and Froakie was not too bad to talk to. He was a really good listener.
After we ate our food we headed to the mall arcade together. We were passing an icecream stand when out of nowhere a cone flew in the direction of my face and I narrowly dodged it in time.
I turned in surprise to see it was Fennekin with Ryu. And she was pissed.
I braced for her attack but to surprise me further she walked past me and slapped Froakie across the face.
"What are you doing with her?! Are you trying to piss me off by dating this b*ch?!"
"Fennekin why do you even care?! You haven't spoken to him in months!"
"Stay out of this Evelyn! This is between me and him!"
She shouted at me as she prepared to slap me when a paw suddenly stop hers.
"Fennekin."
We all looked in surprise to see it was Ryu and he stared at her angrily.
"Ryu?"
"I've had enough of you!! Because of you all my friendships are ruined!! And my best friend won't even talk to me!!! I'm miserable everyday I am with you!! I don't even care about you! I'm tired of you being my girlfriend when all you care about is me being your rich, hot and cool boyfriend! Yes I know about that! I'm sick of you treating my girl like shit!! You are a terrible pokemon! Fennekin, we are done!!"
He said as he let go of her paw.
"But Ryu..."
"DONE!!"
She stood there in complete disbelief and tears started to pour down her cheeks. Despite her slapping him earlier Froakie reached out his pads to her.
If only she realized she always had the best guy right beside her.
Fennekin doesn't deserve Froakie.
I don't know who to feel more sorry for.
Ryu turned to look at me but I didn't want to talk to him.
"Evelyn."
"Don't."
His paw froze halfway and he looked like he wanted to reach his paw out to touch me. But he didn't and let it fall to his side.
"Okay."
I walked past him and he didn't try to stop me. He just let me walk away.
