Hearing the recordings mention Rupert Malone and how he's responsible for something done to Kenna, made the two share a look, and they learnt that the servants of Sanctuary indeed weren't human, which gave context for the strange port on the side of the door, but they don't know what the servants were, yet.

Must be robotic, considering what Isley said about them not reacting to the insults and Mrs. Martini throwing a martini at one, and the port on the side of the door.

Made sense for Rupert Malone having robotic servants, the thought of working people in his underwater city might've clashed with his vision of the perfect sanctuary, not to mention the people living here refusing the idea outright.

With robotic servants, he wouldn't worry about it clashing against his vision, it'd amplify it, rather, that they're in the namesake Sanctuary, since they're not tended by human servants. The lesser. They're tended by the robotic servants. Faceless, emotionless, not tied to any class.

Perfect for the abuse by the residents of Sanctuary that wouldn't risk rebellion by the human servants. Less drama, as it were.

Though, while they have that going for them, the fact of the matter's Joey Mussolini and his nine wives.

Isley said it herself, there weren't laws against polygamy, and the women weren't unhappy until Rupert Malone forcibly dissolved their marriage to Joey Mussolini.

From the sound of things, Rupert Malone had him beaten for causing problems in Sanctuary and presumably, locked nine women into marriages they didn't want, just to satisfy the nine men who raised complaints against Joey Mussolini.

Theodore hedged they'll find similar tape recorders from the nine wives and they'll have some choice words lodged against Rupert Malone.

In all, about three hours into this adventure, and it's looking more like human nature as the root of the discord.

It's painting a picture at what kind of place Sanctuary really was when it was in its prime and neither Theodore or Lila wanted to see the completed work, because they knew what'll mean for them.

"Come along, Lee," Theodore sighed as he motioned for Lila joining his side as they left the home, going towards another one, trying to find other clues about what went on in Sanctuary.

This one, despite Theodore's attempt, showed nothing but a caved in room, the ceiling gave due to the weight of the barnacles growing, and they're pushed onward, until they found a detailed map of the residences.

Looking at it closely, they found Kenna and a man called Louis's home, which they followed the map, attempting to find out from Kenna's perspective, what happened when she disappeared.

The hallway's uncomfortably cold, not damp, explaining the lack of barnacles, and they found the home in impeded, with the twist of his wrist, Theodore opened the door for them.

Inside, the mood swiftly changed, it felt colder inside the Montague home than it did out in the hallway, there's broken plates on the ground, ceramic, a large broken vase tossed against the wall with enough strength shattering it into pieces.

There's a destroyed standing record player with a broken record shattered into pieces on the ground, the refrigerator doors unhinged, exposing gone-off bottles of beer.

Broken bottles of the beer laid on the ground in front of the refrigerator, likely fallen out after someone removed the doors from their hinges forcibly.

There's shattered picture frames on the ground, either fell off or knocked off, and as Theodore and Lila cautiously investigated the den, it showed damages long before the fall of Sanctuary.

Seeing this, Theodore cautioned Lila, ordering her to stay by him, at least until they're sure they're alone in the home.

Lila followed him as they went up the stairs to the master bedroom, inside, it felt colder than in the den, and looking around, the unhappiness oozed from every corner of the bedroom.

Searching around, Theodore found papers, signed by Rupert Malone, that declared the marriage of Kenna Hershey to Joey Mussolini on grounds of polygamy, and causing strife among the residents of Sanctuary.

"Why would they have that?" Lila wondered why the papers were with the Montague and Theodore suggested that it's a copy for Louis, to show Kenna that her marriage to Joey Mussolini's invalidated, likely as a tool against her.

Nine men wanted wives, but how many didn't deserve the opportunity?

Looking through the papers, Theodore sees the marriage certificate, officiated by Rupert Malone.

Resting the papers on the table, Theodore frowns before searching the bedroom with Lila, they didn't find a tape recorder, not even a hiding spot, but given how abusive Louis was, Kenna didn't have a chance.

Going through the nightstands, Lila found empty bottles of alcohol on Louis' side and sleeping aid in Kenna's nightstand.

Theodore went through their closet and drawers, Louis' a heavy drinker, he found an unopened bottle of rum underneath the socks.

Kenna had medications on her dresser, antidepressants, dated for September 1965.

Okay, they know now, they're in the '60s.

She started her medication right after she returned from wherever and was on them during her marriage with Louis.

Digging around everywhere else they hadn't checked yet, Theodore didn't find anything eye catching. With no journal or tape recorder from Kenna, there's nothing left for them in the bedroom, thus they leave.

Nothing in the Montague residence, they continued looking, most of the homes they attempted to look through, blocked off by the collapsed ceilings, until they came across Joey Mussolini's residence, easily spotted because of the graffiti covering it.

Entering it, it was like a fortress, Joey Mussolini kept everything walled off, afraid of retaliation. Boxes, furniture, stacked against the door, almost made it difficult for them getting inside without Theodore's strength.

Looking around, the duo found a portrait of Joey Mussolini.

He didn't look like one of those types of people on the news with the round glasses, but rather, he looked like an average man, about his forties, and there's another portrait of him with his nine wives.

They're all happy in the portrait and it's confirmed this when Theodore and Lila snooped around the home, nothing unpleasant, there's a space for everyone, and it seemed like Joey Mussolini wasn't wrong like he said in his counter posters. His wives happy with the arrangement and there's nothing suggesting abuse.

Checking everywhere in the den, they didn't find anything of interest, and headed up to the bedroom, where they're unable to open the door easily.

"Must've blocked it off," Lila winces as the door didn't open despite Theodore using his Sonic Screwdriver.

Exhaling sharply, Theodore prepared himself before using his strength, pushing into the bedroom, forcing his way through the walls of furniture that fell to the ground in loud crashes.

A large bed at the back of the room, larger than any bed the two ever saw in their lives, several dressers, vanity mirrors, oh my.

The bedroom's bigger than their flats combined, big enough for all ten people, with enough corners for them to have their own space.

Even their own closets, with their names on them, large enough to store several outfits and shoes.

Would've cost at least ten-fifteen million in London, proper, Lila thought about the costs of something like this. That's just the buy-in costs, that's not including the taxes that come with the property.

Going through the closets, Theodore and Lila found them empty, their footsteps echoing as they searched through each of them, until they got to Joey Mussolini's closet.

The door wouldn't open, despite Lila's attempts, and Theodore managed to nearly break the door knob twisting it hard as he pulled the closet door to the side.

They stumbled backwards as they smelled something horrible coming from further in the closet.

At the end of the closet, there's a plaid comforter covering something sitting against the wall.

Didn't need a forensic scientist to tell them what's under the comforter.

Covering their noses, the two braved going inside the closet, looking for a tape recorder, anything for them to deduce what happened to Joey Mussolini.

Lila found a tape recorder hidden under boxes of shoes with a tape inside, it's good enough for them, and they escaped the unsightly smell coming from the body.

With the tape recorder in hand, they gone over to a table to turn it on, and it started with Joey Mussolini angry at Rupert Malone.

It's after the man forcibly dissolved the marriages and when he let Joey Mussolini receive a brutal beating.

He's disallowed contact from his former wives and if he attempted to contact them, Rupert Malone threatened to have him beaten again.

Joey Mussolini sounded distraught, losing his wives, he couldn't believe it, he claimed there's no rules against polygamy, nobody minded.

Well, until nine men had their say.

Apparently, Rupert Malone tolerated the marriages, but when the nine men became upset, as there weren't a lot of single women in Sanctuary as it were, he was forced to step in, wanting to get a handle of the situation.

He tried persuading Joey Mussolini divorce eight of his wives, keeping the one he liked the most as his primary wife, but the man refused, saying he loved them too much to simply divorce them.

It got to the point that Rupert Malone stopped trying to compromise and simply had Joey Mussolini beaten and all nine marriages dissolved without any say.

A miracle Joey Mussolini wasn't killed, but perhaps Rupert Malone kept him alive for his own reason.

He ended up talking about Kenna, as both picked up the context, she was pregnant, which was against the rules of Sanctuary.

"He told me not to let it happen again and to push them into having implementations or else he'll expel all of us," said Joey Mussolini in his tape, "Sanctuary's too perfect for it to fall into disarray because of children. They break things, he says, and they'll ruin the servants with their 'grubby' hands. I would've taken him up on the offer of leaving, but he wouldn't let all nine of my wives leave. If I'd left, Kenna would've been the only one with me. I couldn't leave them all behind, but he said it's only fair."

Sanctuary's built on the concept that there's enough men and women for each other and when polygamy gets involved, it gets complicated, and the ideas of "free love" weren't welcomed, as it appeared.

One husband, one wife, that's it, or none.

True to the old way of thinking, Rupert Malone wasn't fond of the polygamy, but he only tolerated it until it caused problems.

It would've been part of Sanctuary's finest if people were allowed to wed more than one person, something unheard of for the '60s, but unfortunately, it'd appear that there weren't enough people to avoid complications.

It's only the few elites welcomed into Sanctuary, whatever the process used, wasn't accepting of anyone who didn't fall into the specific categories that Rupert Malone looked for when he reached out for people.

The tape continued until Joey Mussolini talked about the servants acting strange lately, not accepting commands as they should've, and they're starting to cause problems with the others.

Something about an incident when someone jokingly tossed an empty bottle at a servant's head and they shot them on the spot.

They're rushed to the clinic, where they died from the electrical burns.

"Electric burns?" Lila raised her brow as Joey Mussolini talked about the servant retaliating and Rupert Malone forcibly detained the servant for observation and repairs.

Joey Mussolini went on to talk about how he's hearing other people in Sanctuary having problems with the servants acting out, he thinks Richard Simms' tearing out his hair, they're his creation, after all.

The tape went on until the part where Joey Mussolini's wheezing, unable to properly breath, as he described how he's stuck in his closet, hiding from both Rupert Malone's men and the servants that've started completely breaking down, refusing orders, and instead starting giving orders, to the residents of Sanctuary.

"They won't listen to us anymore, Rupert can't even get them to stand down, they're shooting everyone, now!" Joey Mussolini wheezed. "One of them shot me in the leg, I'm lucky to get out of there when I did, I don't know what happened to the others. We were in the billiard room when they started opening fire for no reason. Why would he give them the ability to fire?"

There's a little bit of the tape left, Joey Mussolini feeling his end near, he lost a lot of blood, and his wound turning necrotic. He's stuck in the closet, unable to move, and he knows nobody's coming for him. He's resigned to his death, bitter, but he left this before the tape finally ran out.

"I don't think he made them. They're too advanced for someone like him to even dream of creating and even with all that money Rupert has in his pockets. I think… I think… they're not manmade… I don't think… they're from this world," Joey Mussolini wheezed as he talked about the servants, shortly before the tape stopped, thus he died shortly after, his blood poisoned from the necrosis.
