Two hours later, Ryan and Esposito were back on the road, following up on a lead that was as promising as it was dauting.
After the latest debacle and as a matter of utmost caution, they were dressed in bullet proof vests and steel helmets, Javi having brought along his Remington 870 for extra fire power. A SWAT unit six guys strong was accompanying them this time around, all of them briefed on Oseguiro's character and the fight he would undoubtably put up if cornered.
A woman had been seen with him earlier, presumably his current girlfriend Lupina DiRossa, age 43, her rap sheet matching Oseguiro's in quantity, though not quality. Multiple possession and prostitution charges had summed up her 2-decade stay in New York so far, along with an aggravated A&B on a police officer.
A match made in heaven, Beckett had titled it before being hailed to a conference call with the Police Chief, who was demanding an update on the current case.
Kevin had seen the disappointment in her eyes of not being able to roll on this call but knew that her position demanded a different type of action plan and decision-making policies, most of them being done behind the safety of a wooden desk.
"You guys ready?", Esposito asked as the group arrived at the apartment in question, everyone hugging the inside wall, moving as quietly as possible.
Kevin nodded, seeing the sparkle of unbridled excitement in his partner's eyes, doing the job he'd been trained to do for so long, thirsting for every chance to prove his combat skills.
He on the other hand hadn't found the joy for these types of takedowns quite yet. Acceptance yeah, but that was about it.
"NYPD!", Javi yelled and kicked in the door, the butt of his shotgun pressed into his right shoulder as he dove past the debris field he'd caused.
Kevin followed along at once, nearly running into his partner's back who'd come to a complete stop in the middle of the living room, acting like a plug for the rest of the officers that were streaming into the small apartment.
"Well…damn…", Esposito huffed out of breath and lowered the barrel of his shotgun to the ground, his eyes glued to the scene ahead.
"Damn is right.", Kevin added and looked at the two still bodies at their feet, the puddles of blood beneath them having dried out over the past few hours.
Ignoring the rest of the group that began to fan out between the adjacent rooms, Javi crouched down and tilted his head sideways, before looking back up at him.
"She ain't a size six either, bro."
