Sorry it's been such a long time. I have lately been considering just scrapping this entire account. Considering how busy I am and what little audience I have, I'm not sure I can keep up a writing account here.
Anyway, been working on this chapter for a while, hopefully y'all like it.
"He's here." Cisco said, dread leaking from his voice. Caitlin turned to Barry with concern, a rising panic could be felt in all of them. "And he's on the roof."
"Yes, I am here. And you three will not be for long." The ominous voice spoke through all speakers in Star labs, loudly echoing between rooms. "I apologize for having to introduce myself by such unorthodox means."
"Who are you?" Caitlin called out to the voice, standing again from her desk.
"Did you not hear me? I am the New Vibe!" The voice practically screamed. "I am the harbinger of progress... and the future. I will bring down the shackles of today for the light of tomorrow, and you are standing in the way."
"What?" Barry whispered to Cisco, confusion showing in each of their faces.
"Hey, dude, sorry man but you can't take the vibe name, it's already coined." Cisco attempted to calm the situation, reaching for a drink on the desk before him.
"Really?" The voice questioned as a blast of blue energy vibrated through the air, impacting on Cisco, sending him flying just out of the cortex. Barry raced to him, helping to break his fall to the ground.
"Aah, not cool, not good juju." Cisco grunted as Barry helped him up.
"I think not." The villain said solidly. "Do not quivel with me."
"I'll stop him." Barry reassured Cisco as he knelt over to him. He raced to his suit before running through the building, out and then onto the roof. A tall, dark man stood near the edge of the roof, overlooking the city below. He was a dark tanned man, his hair flowed back to his shoulders and his clothing was silvery black and looked techy.
"Hello Barry. This..." He turned slowly toward the speedster. "This... is where you confronted Zoom, correct? Where you first saw him? It was... right here. Wasn't it?" He pointed to the ground at his feet.
"What the hell do you want?" Barry gritted his teeth at the smug villain.
"Why... to show a light to the world, of course." He spread his hands out, a dark grin spread across his face. "But you are in the way. Through time... man has found solace in progress, but progress only came through desperateness. I can be the cause of that desperateness. I will trigger humanity to evolve once more."
"I won't let you hurt anyone." Barry warned.
"Oh you fool." The man bellowed suddenly, lunging at Barry with a quick shock of energy. "I am the hero now, Barry Allen. You are now the villain and I will save the world!" He came forward further, various bits of glowing metal protruded from his waist, he grabbed at two, launching a volley of energy at Barry. Barry dodged back, lightning crackling around him as he speed around the bit of violent energy. "You would stand in the way at progress in the name of heroism, you are but a rock trying to stop the tide of the sea!" The New vibe raised his hands, blue glowed around them almost identical to Cisco's vibe energy.
"Uhh... guys. He really is like Vibe." Barry spoke in the coms, his finger to his ear.
"Barry, my powers are almost entirely vibrationally based, that's probably the complete reason he was able to tap star labs." Cisco explained urgently, "They also revolve around transdimensional powers."
"Yeah, that's not really helping." Barry leapt back as sparks flew from the blast point of the vibrations.
"Follow his blast pattern and get on his inside before he can expect your attack." Cisco instructed. Barry leaned back, ducking under a bolt of blue vibration. He moved forward, time slowing as he moved. The new vibe froze in place as Barry neared, stepping around each blast of energy. Lightning circled around Barry as he breathed deeply, nearing his mysterious enemy.
"Gotcha," He whispered as he laid a hand on the villain's arm, the evil man's eyes still focused on where Barry had been before. "Time for a cooldown." Flashtime ended and the New Vibe turned to Barry only a foot away from him now, shock written deep on his face.
"Wha-" Barry raced back inside, wasting no time in putting the villain a cell in the pipeline.
"Ya know, for such a sudden entrance, that was pretty anticlimactic." Cisco thought aloud as Barry sauntered back into the cortex.
Caitlin just smirked at Cisco's commentary, "Just be glad he didn't do any real damage."
"What I wanna know is how he got his powers... and... how he knew us so well." Barry had already changed as he sat back down at the edge of the cortex. "I mean... it was just... too easy. He revealed himself so quickly and blatantly, he must have had a real reason not to continue his stealth." He crossed his arms in thought.
"You're right." Caitlin put in, "His powers were... a mixture of numerous powers we've seen before, including your Cisco." She shrugged, "I'll run some tests on him."
"Why is it so weird that we're taking this so naturally? We legit just fought a new meta who we had no knowledge about and in five minutes... we're acting like every other day." Cisco questioned before taking a sip from his drink.
"I dunno man. It is weird... bizarre even, but if you think about it... with everything we experience, it's not like it's really so much new." Barry tried to explain. Cisco shrugged again before strolling out of the cortex. Caitlin stepped into med bay and out of sight. "Weird, definitely weird." Barry meandered into the med bay where Caitlin had gone, "You okay Cait? The... new vibe hit Cisco, he didn't hurt you did he?"
"No, Barry. I'm alright." Caitlin smiled at him. "Barry, you don't suppose he... wanted to be captured? That has happened before."
"I don't know." Barry sighed concernedly. "I just don't know, it's just so weird." He sat down on a gurney next to Caitlin. "I seemed too easy, but that's more because I just went into flashtime to capture him."
"Smart." Caitlin noted as she kept her eyes on the monitor screen, which was showing a feed of the cell where the new prisoner was slamming energy uselessly at the window wall. "His molecular data shows very similar make up to Cisco's dark matter affected dna."
"Interesting, but... he had more than just transdimensional energy use, he was able to use various energies as well as electricity." Barry explained, now leaning over Caitlin. Caitlin continued to read the screen as more charts and miniscreens showed on the prisoner.
"I want you to stay in star labs for the night again tonight, though." She turned to Barry. "With this meta now detained, I want to monitor your vitals for more research."
With a sigh Barry agreed. The two stayed for the evening, going over new information on their metahuman intruder.
Well, that took a while to write. It wasn't as much as I had originally planned and wasn't even what I had originally planned to write. I've just momentarily lost my creative mojo. This whole chapter doesn't really feel right and isn't nearly as good as I had expected. For that, I apologize.
I know, this whole Snowbarry is a major slow burn and this story is getting off course each time I write it. For the next chapter, I'm going to try to focus a lot more on Snowbarry than team flash and see how that goes, there's no telling when that'll be though, so please be patient and let me know what else you want me to write about whether it be for this story or something else.
Thank you.
