A/N: Sorry the chapter is shorter than my usual ones. I accidentally got a pretty bad cut on my right hand yesterday and am having trouble typing. Also TW for torture.

Chapter 1: Recapture

Gon and Killua have just managed to escaped from Nobunaga and are running through the abandoned part of YorkNew City.

Gon is completely relaxed but Killua can't help but feel anxious. When they turn the next corner, they find a figure leaning against a wall, smoking.

Their hearts skip a beat. It's the blond Spider- Phinks.

They immediately leap back, but soft snickering stops them from running away.

They turn around to find another Spider- Feitan.

Killua curses under his breath. He hates it when his bad instinct comes true, which happens more often than not. He looks around for an escape, but fails to find any.

They are in a narrow street, with a dangerous person on each end. They could climb the walls, but he doubts that the Spiders would be pleased.

Killua's breathing turns ragged when the two start walking towards him.

Gon scowls. "Let us go! We already told you, we don't know who the chain user is!"

Phinks ignores him but a wrinkle crosses Feitan's eyes.

That bastard's smirking. He's pleased with Gon's reaction. Damn! Damn! Damn it! I can't let him torture Gon.

Before Killua can bat an eyelash, he is grabbed by the collar and smashed into a nearby wall. He tries to cough out but the blond is pressing his throat so hard, that he would have been crushing it if not for Killua's Ten.

Wait, if the blond is here, then... Damn it!

Gon tries his best to stay calm. He's very angry, but scared too. With his right arm pressed so hard in front of him he can't move it at all, and his left folded behind his back, he doesn't seem to have much hope against the sneering sadist. Not to mention, a strong hand forces his head into the wall, so that he can't even turn around.

He desperately pushes against his captor's grip, but to no avail. It only gets tighter, with nails digging so deep into his wrist that they draw blood.

"Who is the chain user?" He asks, obviously only to toy with him.

Slender fingers slither over to Gon's fingertips.

"I already told you, I don't know!"

Gon's heartbeat increased. His breathing's too loud. The tension is so thick someone can slice it, and serve it on a piece of bread.

A lazy finger circles Gon's index, inching closer and closer to his nail.

Gon holds his breath and presses his lips together. No matter what happens, he won't cry out.

"Wrong answer." The man snickers, sending chills down the spine.

"NO, GON!" Killua yells, his voice accompanied by a yelp and a crunch.

Gon squeezes his eyes shut as his nerves go mad with the immense pain.

The man takes his sweet sweet time carving his nail out.

Once it's done, tears drop to the ground, mixing with the puddle of blood already down there.

"Gon!" Killua's voice croaks out, once again accompanied by another dreadful crunch and yelping.

After what seems like hours to Gon, he finally finishes taking out the last of his nails.

His grip softens. It's just enough to release Gon's throbbing forehead from the hard concrete.

Gon sighs in relief and it all goes downhill from there.

Something about the sigh, perhaps the audacity, makes the man frown.

Before Gon can fix his mistake, his head is slammed against the concrete again. Slender fingers reach Gon's and he finally cries out in pain.

Gon's tired. His throat feels hoarse from all that screaming.

One-by-one, the man had broken Gon's fingers and then ripped them off. The process was so painstakingly slow that by the time he's finished with Gon's left hand, Gon wants nothing more than to somehow have Killua escape.

Damn it! Damn! It hurts...

He's ready to do anything to not have Killua experience this. The occasional sharp snicker snaking down his ear. The dread that comes after every completed step, accompanied by the soon-to-be- crushed hope that... perhaps... maybe... he'll stop after this one. All of it, is just too overwhelming...

"Huh? Oh hey! I didn't expect to find y'all here."

Gon doesn't recognise that voice, but it sounds familiar enough to flood him with relief. So much of it in fact, that his head starts spinning... or maybe it's somehow related to the sudden burst of pain in his nape.

Whatever it is... it's so strong that... a few moments later his already blurry vision darkens further and... he passes out.

A/N: I'm soo sorry! If you feel bad for Gon, you're not alone. My heart's nearly crushed too but it was necessary... :(

On a brighter note, thanks a lot Neo-Digital. Your positive response was very motivating! :D

If there's anything you would like to see happen, I would love to hear it. Criticism's appreciated because, once again, I've never written Gon as the centre of attention before and his character is a bit more complicated than I thought it would be.

Ps. Just because I'm starting this story, doesn't mean I'm abandoning my other works. They'll still receive updates, although they'll be slower than usual.
