Derek managed to get her out of bed that morning. He said he was happy that she opened up to him. She was happy that he listened, but honestly, she would take anything she could get from him at this point.

He made sure she knew he was actually trying and also promised that they would talk about everything she mentioned in the evening. Feeling like she actually saw a glimpse of the Derek she knew in med-school, before everything in New York, before Mark, before Meredith.

Things were starting to look up because she wanted to call in sick and finally decided to poor her heart out. But mostly because Derek finally decided to actually care. Whatever brought it on she would like to know, because she would like it to stay this way.

Today was a quiet board, which meant fewer surgeries and more time for OBGYN. Richard always thought a quiet board was bad news, Addison never believed in this superstition. Just for the sake of it though, she got some juju for her and Derek.

She was on her way to the attendings lounge to look for Derek when she got paged. When she passed the nurses station, she happened to see Derek.

''Hey.''

He turned around and took the cup she was offering him. He looked up at the contents of the cup and frowned ''Juju..''

''Any special occasion? I didn't lose any patients, did you?''

''No, no! I just..'' she stammered

''I have a feeling''

His head tilted and gave her a warm, understanding smile ''I get those''.

She wasn't expecting that ''yeah?''

''yeah.''

''and?''

''if you wait long enough it passes'' he said and took a sip from the juju.

She gave him a hopeful look ''Promise?''

''promise.''

They were interrupted by the beeping of a pager. Turns out it was Addison's, a 911 from.. Bailey? Wasn't she supposed to be on pregnancy leave?

Turns out Dr. Bailey's labor had started. Her water broke and her contractions were 10 minutes apart. She got her a room, a personal delivery room, and right now Addison was checking her cervix to see how far she was dilated.

Everything was going smoothly so far. Bailey was 6 centimeters dilated, 50% avaesed and refusing any pain medication. Not something Addison would recommend for the first time. Bailey was planning on delivering this baby in the next 5 hours but Addison knew well enough that babies never stick to a plan. People plan and god laughs, her mother used to say.

Derek wasn't normally one to be found at the delivery wing of the hospital however he needed the nurses to give Addison the file of a pregnant patient they shared. This is when he noticed the chief and O'Malley. ''What's going on?''

O'Malley was the first to answer ''Bailey's in there!''

''Bailey's back? That's excellent!'' Derek said while walking towards their door. His smile soon disappeared ''and her cervix is being examined by my wife..''

''which is.. which is a visual I'll never get out of my head''

he glanced towards the chief and then O'Malley ''Thanks for the warning''

''I guess this was the feeling she was having huh'' Derek mumbled under his breath.

''what was that?'' The chief asked.

The door opened just when Derek was about to answer the chief and he received a page.

''Well..'' Addison cleared her throat

''A gathering of men outside the delivery room How mid-century of you'' she smiled and tilted her head towards Derek. He kissed her cheek of out habit. After this morning though, he would gladly oblige and not just out of obligation.

''Say hi to Bailey for me'' he said before running because of the page.

..

People plan and god laughs alright, but she never thought God would be this cruel.

Right now Addison was walking towards OR2. George gave her the news after trying to carefully get her out of the room without Dr. Bailey suspecting anything.

Apparently Tucker Jones had been in an accident, not just a motor vehicle accident but a motor vehicle crash. There was severe intrusion damage to the car and definite brain injury. She knew exactly which attending would be dealing with this case.

Derek noticed Addison coming around the corner. ''Hey''

''Hey, you've got Dr. Bailey's husband on the table?'' Addison asked looking quite frightened herself.

Now Dr. Burke was confused too ''Bailey's husband is going into surgery?''

Derek continued washing his hands and explained ''He got into a car accident trying to get to the hospital before the birth''

''What do I tell Bailey?'' Addison asked concerned for not only Bailey's husbands but also Bailey's well-being. There is only so much stress a pregnant woman can take, especially during labor. Normally she would be able to handle these kinds of situations but this wasn't just anyone, this was Miranda Bailey. So she asked anyway, hoping her husband would have some words of wisdom.

''Nothing.'' Derek replied quickly, while Addison grabbed the ends of his mask out of habit. ''Let's just wait till I get in there and see how bad the damage is, have something concrete to tell her''

''Yeah, no use upsetting her until we know.'' Which Derek agreed with.

She leaned a little against the scrub room sink while Derek finished tying up his mask ''I told you I had a feeling'' she whispered, not wanting Dr. Burke to overhear their conversation.

''I know'' Derek admitted.

''You said it would pass.'' She trailed off ''you promised''

Derek shot her a stern look. Now was not the time to bring this up, he was about to go into surgery. She kept looking at him expectingly, as if he had all the answers in the world.

''not now, Addison'' he said her name quite agitated, which he was sure Addison noticed.

Addison's face grew tired in a matter of seconds and he noticed he struck a nerve.

''it will'' he said to reassure her, again.

Burke had already left when he was done scrubbing his hands. He was about to walk in to the OR when he turned towards Addison one last time with his hands still in the air

''Everything will be fine Addie''.

..

It's been quite a while since she's had an update from Derek. He promised that Stevens would inform her of any changes, good or bad. Which led to her sitting behind Miranda on a birthing ball thinking how she didn't like promises to begin with. They only led to her obsessing over them because a little too many promises had been broken in New York.

It didn't take long before Miranda started asking about finding her husband again. Deciding to take the heat of George a little, Addison answered ''He's not here''.

Miranda stared disbelievingly at Addison and then shifted her gaze to George ''he should be here by now!''

''Okay, we're gonna go find him!''

What else was she supposed to say. The only thing Bailey should be focusing on right now was the birth of her child, instead she was worrying about the whereabouts of her husband.

If Addison disclosed any information of what was really going on with her husband she might, no, definitely, freak out.

''Right doctor O'Malley?'' this was his cue to leave. Just when the door shut Addison's pager went off. She looked down and it said code black.

''What?'' Bailey asked because of Addison's shocked expression Addison tried keeping her usual cool. ''uh- nothing. I'll- I'll be right back.''

..

''Stevens, go and find Addison ..and tell her he's in worse shape than I thought'' Derek said while trying to locate the bleeding. In the corner of his eye Yang walked back ''What'd they want?''

''They want us to evacuate.''

..

Stevens came running in to the elevator just in time.

''Dr. Shepherd, the other Dr. Shepherd wanted me to let you know that Tucker's bleed is more extensive than he originally thought. It's going to be a few more hours before he has anything concrete to tell Dr. Bailey''

''Thank you Dr. Stevens''

Deep down Addison knew better. This day couldn't get any worse. First Bailey's husband managed to get onto her husband's table while their child was due and now she'd received a code black page. What else was the universe going to throw at them. This was not what she expected her feeling to entail.

She heard Stevens call her name. ''Just wait for your resident to give you instructions''.

Only this answer just caused them to ask more questions since their resident was currently in the delivery room.

The elevator door pinged and opened. O'Malley and Stevens looked at her expectedly ''yeah, it's something bad'' Addison said before storming off towards the main desk.

''As of ten minutes ago all the operating rooms at Seattle Grace were completely evacuated, with the expectation of Dr. Burke's team'' Richard informed Addison.

''And Dr. Shepherd's team'' Dr. Stevens said to which Addison and Richard both spun around at the same time.

''What?''

''What do you mean Dr. Shepherd's team?''

Addison kept staring at Izzie even though Richard was long gone.

Her bewilderment soon turned to outrage which in time turned to fear. What does she mean, Dr. Shepherd was still in OR2. How could Derek not evacuate. What in his right mind was he thinking.

After the initial shock wore off Addison returned to Bailey's birthing suite. She had to be assertive and get on with things because this crisis or what Karev liked to call the apocalypse just presented itself with a fresh problem for her to tackle..

''Dr. Shepherd.''

''Where. Exactly. Is my husband?'' Miranda asked slow but steady.

Addison swallowed the dryness in her throat and weighed the possible answers in her head before turning around swiftly with a pained expression on her face.

''He's with my husband.''

..

She had left George with Bailey to make sure he could convince her to have this baby. The other option was a c-section, however all the OR's were evacuated.

No way was Richard going to let her go into an OR in Seattle Grace, which was more than understandable, she would have to be transferred to a different hospital. There wasn't enough time for this, she thought.

Her mind was working overtime when she thought about what she would want. She would want to know how her husband was doing. She thought about it more rationally. If she could find out how Tucker was doing, she could give Bailey an actual update. As far as she knew, everyone who could possibly give her an update about Tucker's current state had left OR2, which meant only one thing.

She had retrieve the update herself.
