I lay down in a growing pool of the farmer's blood, slowly starting to calm down. I still held the same hatred of the ROBs but I didn't need to dwell on that and waste time, I needed to continue playing this fucked up game so I could meet them and put a bullet in their head.
I got up and took the sheath of his knife, attaching it to my belt loops and slipping the blade in. I walked up to the shotgun and hoisted it around my back, before looking around to see if there was more stuff to loot.
There was a ladder off to the side that went to the attic so I went over and climbed up. I saw many boxes of ammo for rifles, shotguns, handguns and some random trinkets here and there. I spotted a crate and used a crowbar that was off to the side to wrench it open, revealing more weapons.
I took two revolvers and their holsters, attaching them to my hip before storing boxes full of ammo in my [Inventory]
I took one of his rifles that was identical to the one he had shot out of my hands and it seemed as if I didn't need to worry about ammo or resources for a while. The last thing I spotted in the attic was a small stack of cash that totalled about 50,000 Beri, which was nice. I could pay for my room for 6 days with that while I bought whatever I wanted with the hunting money.
I climbed down the ladder and back down to the ground floor, where I saw a woman come out and drop two buckets of milk in shock at the sight of me.
"Calm down lady, I killed your psycho husband- well, he's an ex-husband now. Anyway, he tried to kill me, I defended myself, end of the story."
I walked past her and exited the barn, a part of me wanted to steal one of the horses in the stables but I didn't know the first thing about riding one, nor did I have a saddle. The first thing I did was steal as much food as I could, filling in the rest of the [Inventory] spaces.
I made my way through the trail and distracted myself by checking my stat page. I gained a new skill level in [Close Quarters Combat] which I found not to be adequate for the amount of shit I went through, but at least it was something.
I quickly found myself in town and that was when I noticed that my shirt was dripping with blood, some of it originated from me, some of it came from the farmer. I took off my shirt and tossed it into some bushes, and made my way back to the room I was staying in.
Once I laid down, I just let out the biggest sigh of my life.
I was bored as fuck, that was for certain. I didn't really feel like working for the butchery, if I had to escape this world, I feel like I'd have a better chance if I was out at sea, exploring, fighting and improving. Plus, I would probably have quite a bit more fun working on the sea than shooting an animal and hauling it back.
Though should I risk my life going to Earth? I could stay here and find a way to make this place worth my while.
My answer was to risk my life, I didn't have any of the past relationships I had, I didn't have the amenities. I wanted to continue talking to Discord friends about random bullshit.
So the plan was to set out at sea, see where it takes me and hopefully I can become strong enough to beat the shit out of these ROBs.
I exited my room and went outside, I saw some shipbuilders in the distance and vaguely remembered them being there. I walked on over past alleyways and markers until I reached it. They were making a massive ship and were about halfway done with it from what I could gather.
"That beaut you see over there is called the Devil's Mighty Stronghold," a man said, placing his hand on my shoulder. "It certainly is mighty." I said, He passed a poster over to me and I started reading it.
The Devils Mighty Stronghold
This vessel is a strong ship that can withstand the strongest of attacks and bring you anywhere, stuff like tsunamis, cyclones, hurricanes or tornadoes won't do so much as a scratch on this beast.
Now, you may be wondering, how much does this cost?
Well, my friend, it costs absolutely nothing. All you need to do is win the Demon Tournament, and you can have this ship for free as well as a prize of 1 MILLION BERI
The advertisement read like a shitty infomercial with explosion sound effects and air horns, though it certainly worked since I needed a boat, and was boatless.
I turned back to the man who gave me the poster but he was busy talking to someone else, so I walked up to one of the shipbuilders.
"Hey, uh, how long is this gonna take? how long do I have to prepare for the event?" I asked.
"People keep asking this, is it not on the poster? Anyway, about a month left, we're not too certain though as anything could happen." I nodded and walked away.
In the meantime, I should probably go hunting to gain a few levels over the next couple months, and hopefully some new skills to try out.
I went over to the trail and started walking deeper into the forest than I had ever been, walking down a jutting path of the trail. After a few more minutes of walking, I saw a bull in the distance, I immediately readied my rifle and aimed, letting loose a shot into its head.
The bullet missed and the bull looked around for what made that sound, before it locked its eyes on me.
I threw the rifle back into my inventory and took out the shotgun, waiting for the bull to close in. It started charging and I fired once, breaking off the horn. I wanted to fire one more shot but the bull was too close so I rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding its advances.
I pumped the shotgun again and shot a slug point blank into its gut, but it only seemed to anger it, and the bull turned and gored me with its remaining horn.
I was pressed up against a tree and I felt it impale me, I coughed up an impressive amount of blood and screamed as loud as I could.
I remembered I still had the shotgun in my hands so I tried to pump with all my strength and direct a bullet to its skull
Brains splattered all over me and it collapsed, dropping me from the tree and leaving me there with a massive cylindrical hole in my gut.
[HP: 2/100]
OH SHIT.
I took out a carrot from my inventory and nommed down on as much as I could before moving onto the next food item I had, I remained on 2 HP for a few minutes though I had enough food to eventually beat the debuff. I was on my last shallot when that happened
After eating it, I was on 4 HP. I got up slowly, with my chest bellowing in agony. I nearly collapsed from the pain, it was the worst I've ever felt, I just wanted to sleep, hopefully find out this is a dream and move on.
But it wasn't, I needed to power on, I needed to beat the shit out of these ROBs and I needed to go back home.
