It was like any other night for her. Attending all of her classes as instructed as the clock ticks slowly on through the night. Or that was what she would hope. Every so often, one of the brothers would feel a bit peckish and seek out the petite student in a dire need for a sip. She would make attempts to stop the act from happening but most of the time it would turn out to be useless. Except for this one night on the rooftop during lunch.

"Please stay still. Don't try to agitate me, or I will steal you away for myself so my brother doesn't get a chance," The tired yet, agitated third triplet sighed with a huff while hugging Teddy closer to his chest. Laito scoffs and tips his hat.

"The one time you will admit that sharing is caring, Kanato-kun~ I won't taint this moment any further. I will get to spend quality time with my little brother and Bitch-chan as well. Come here~"

Yui's back hits the railings in an attempt to find some odd way to escape but shrinks in fear as the two vampires approach her. "Please not here...! I don't know if there's anyone else who's–"

"Who cares to see?~ Maybe that'll make it more fun, right?"

"I would hope not," Kanato bitterly disagrees with Laito but quickly turns to a smile, "I want only you to look at me and no one else, okay?"

Yui squeezes her eyes shut to anticipate a tackle, shuffles of her school uniform, or the deep inhales of the two predators when she hears a shout from the other side of the school building. Followed by a name that was all too familiar. Having some amount of guts to avoid the two that were closing in on her, she goes to duck underneath Laito but is then stopped by his hand.

"Where do you think you're going, Bitch-chan?" Laito asks flatly, his eyes slowly becoming more annoyed. Kanato mutters something under his breath that isn't heard. She jerks her head back up at the fedora wearing vampire and swallows.

"Did...you not hear that? Someone calling out for Yuma-kun?"

"Why do you care about some other guy's name...?!" Kanato detests, his voice growing angrier. Her already shaken body goes to defy the question when Laito loosens the grip in his hand, making Yui slide out of it.

Another shout is heard.

"Yuumaaa...!"

Her eyes widen and glance at the Sakamaki's before beginning to run toward the sound in need. It sounded just like her. Her and Yuma's names being called could only mean one thing. The one thing she wished that wouldn't happen to her. The one thing she wished that she wouldn't find out. She knew the boys were following close behind without a word until they arrived at an unexpected scene. Once Yui cried out her friend's name, Yuma's head jerked up to size her up.

Her hand goes to reach towards his back but swipes her away, unable to grab the bow from her uniform once blown back by both Laito and Kanato. The look in Yuma's eyes was much more terrifying than they had ever been for the sacrifice.

Yuma had dark circles underneath his eyelids, the sclera in both of his eyes was dyed a deep bloodshot red, and his irises were a strange icy blue color. His fangs were protruding from his mouth, sharper than they ever have been. The aura that the Mukami gave off was not the rebellious yet soft-hearted teen vampire Yui Komori knew. This was something far different.

"I need more blood! Give me more, give me her blood!"

That was when Yui crouched to her knees and sat by Mifuyu's side while staring at the disturbing monster that was coming for her. Until the second eldest came in.

Yuma was knocked unconscious.

Laito and Kanato were given orders.

And she was to go back to her classes while Reiji carried her friend to the infirmary. The way he felt for her friend was not friendly at all. It felt dangerous. The moment they were walking away together, it was like briar stretching around them with the sharpest of thorns.

She didn't want Mifuyu to be alone with Reiji.

Fearing for her life, Yui speaks up to only be silenced by a now more aggressive tone. Had he lost all his self-control? She watches them both leave with much dismay and turns to see both the brothers that were going to have fun with her, disappear with Yuma's unconscious body. Yui was alone on the rooftop.

At that moment, a voice whispered to her ears.

You look so helpless. Do you wish to help?

Not hesitating, Yui clutches the bow on her uniform. (...I do, yes.)

Whom?

(Eh...?)

Whom do you wish to help? Those vampires, that girl with the silver eyes, or yourself?

Yui isn't sure how to respond but slowly takes one step towards the two double doors that lead inside the school. She puts one hand on the doorknob before hearing the voice once again within her head. It isn't her conscious. This voice sounded more...soothing and soft. Almost like a mother to a child.

I know you wish to help yourself. Deep, deep inside. So deep within the heart that does not even belong to you.

Her eyes widen at this statement and goes to protest until she is shushed.

Everyone is selfish, my dear. That is nothing to be ashamed of. Don't you wish for that girl with the silver eyes to take your place instead and for you to be free? That's what you truly think, do you not?

Her mind scrambles to come up with a reason to defy such accusations. Mifuyu was the only friend she had at this school. The one unexpected friend she has. She helped with not just her studies but made her feel more comfortable within her company. So much so she almost told her the truth. She wished to tell her but...was it too late? Would she hate her?

Give it some time, my dear. I will return to you once more. I want an answer next time.

"Who are you...?!" Yui finally sounds outloud to the crisp night air to have no response come to her. She yanks open the door and descends down the staircase.

(I have to be there for her. I'm sorry, Reiji-san.)

The smell of rain fills the air with thunder rumbling intensely through the dark clouds of that mid-day afternoon. People dressed in black attire quietly make their way over to the white tent that was already waiting for them to arrive. Black umbrellas are shaken off from the rain and pulled back when all of those sat down to look at the pastor at the podium. Behind him was an open coffin that laid a man whose eyes were shut. Tan-skinned, messy black hair down to his broad shoulders, and wore a black suit such as everyone else. Quiet cries could be heard through the small crowd once the pastor started speaking about the man in the coffin. About how great he was, how much he had accomplished in such a short time frame, and only leaving the world at thirty-two years old was such a shock. The cries would only grow a bit louder at the last mention, two of his sisters sitting in the front row. The youngest lost almost all of her composure while the second eldest tried to hold it back by holding her.

The pastor would then say a prayer and everyone bowed their heads in silence. All but one.

Standing near the back of the small crowd, a taller than average girl with braided black hair would be looking at the man in the coffin. Her eyes brimmed with tears that were falling as the prayer continued. Her hands go towards her black skirt and grabs a bunch of its fabrics tightly to fight against the oncoming sobs. The man in the coffin looked so peaceful. Like he would be sleeping on his bed back at the apartment or in his office. Except he wasn't smiling. She couldn't see it very well from afar but the scar he had on his right eye seemed to be slightly covered up by his long bangs. She would scoff and think he should have cut his hair shorter since she always thought that scar was badass to look at along with his blue eyes. She was starting to slow her breathing thinking of her past memories and how she admired how even in death, he looked so amazing.

That is until a car door slam is heard from behind her.

That girl looks over her shoulder to see the man in the coffin's older brother, taking off his police hat with a sorrowful look on his face. His brown hair was slightly shaved as if he had just gotten a haircut but the same couldn't be said about his face. He had dark circles under his eyes. Lack of sleep as his insomnia would keep him up after this event. The girl with braids stares longer at him until he looks up with his shadowy eyes to meet hers.

Something snapped.

That girl turns her whole body toward the man in the police uniform, marches straight up to him with heavy footsteps, and punches him straight in the nose. A loud yell is heard and everyone from the funeral looks behind them to see a police officer in front of a girl who had just made his nose bleed.

The light in the girl's eyes ignited once again but for a distant reason.

She goes to punch him again and he grabs her fist, yelling at her to stop until her forehead clashes with his. Both yelp in pain but the girl persists.

"WHY DID YOU KILL MY DAD?!"

The policeman offers no reply but only a sad glance to the ground. Fed up with no immediate response, she tries to go in for a punch only to fail and his chest. She then repeatedly pounds on his chest multiple times, slowly sinking to her knees.

"He was the only thing I had left...and you took him away! You didn't want to help him with that case, didn't you?! You thought it was a waste of time! A waste of money! You didn't want to help out your own brother! Some family we are, huh?! HUH?!"

Her uncle starts to cry silently, taking his niece into his arms tightly. "Let go of me," She says, trying to struggle out of his embrace.

"Let go of me! Let go of me! Let...go..of...me...!" She stops struggling and lets her inner demons fly rampant. Her heartbreaking songs are heard throughout the graveyard. Onlookers, the guests, and her aunts look in despair.

"Dad...! Dad...!"

Mifuyu continues to say his name until her voice crackles.

Slow to open, the first thing she would hear was a soft voice to quiet the retelling of her nightmares.

"You're awake...!" It was whispered. Hushed even.

Mifuyu's eyes slide over to her right to hazily glance up to see that recognizable curly blonde yet short hair. Without much of a thought, Yui holds her friend's hand and continues to look at her.

"How are you feeling...? Or, maybe I shouldn't ask you that...how's–?"

"Are you...okay?" Mifuyu utters out before trying to sit up and wincing in her efforts, Yui gripping her scarred hand.

"H-Huh...? Why are you asking me? You're the one who...got hurt!" Yui challenges all while still lowering her voice.

"I can bounce back from...this." Mifuyu gestures to the air instead of the wound that was on her neck. With a closer inspection, the nasty bite marks were gone and what remained were blue and purple bruises across her upper neck and on her left shoulder blade. She was in her white button-up underneath her uniform. Unbuttoned and bandaged in the back to avoid any staining.

Yui glances to the side and back to her friend, "I'm so, so happy you're okay. I just..." Yui's voice starts to hiccup, "I feel so horrible about...everything. I should have told you..."

"That vampires exist?" Mifuyu finishes, sliding her hand out of Yui's hold. She retracts them to her lap and looks down at them in shame.

"I was afraid to tell you. I was afraid you would get hurt..."

"I still feel like I'm in a crazy dream," Mifuyu scoffs and glances at Yui's saddened look. "You knew this whole time that they were all like this?" Yui nods and clenches her hands tightly around her skirt.

"How long...?"

"For a while. At least until last year. Way before I even met you."

"Fuckin' hell," Mifuyu sighs.

The door slides open to having Reiji step into the room. Much to his not so surprise that Yui would find her way down to the infirmary, regardless of his strict orders. He swallows his rage deep into his throat and walks toward the two women.

"Miss Komori, please return to your classes. Your english instructor is wondering about your absence." The student doesn't respond initially until the vampire rested his gloved hand on her shoulder, giving it a very tight squeeze.

"Don't fucking touch her," Mifuyu suddenly says, going to reach her hand out to smack his away from her shoulder until Yui stands with a sad smile. "I'll be going now, okay? I'll see you later, Satomi-san. Okay?" With that, Yui turns to walk towards the exit.

"I told ya, you can call me Mifuyu..." She mumbles until she hears the door shut. Once again, as it was a common occurrence between the two individuals since the chemistry explosion, silence divided them like a stone wall. Secrets were laid bare. The secret that she wasn't supposed to find out was now in the open. Even if he appeared calm and collected in front of the ravenette, he was wondering what he should do with the girl that had caused him this much trouble. He places one of his ungloved hands on his forehead, continuing to stare at her.

"You're a vampire, aren't ya?" Mifuyu asks, voice lowered in case one were to pass by the infirmary.

A sound of confirmation is heard from Reiji's throat.

"So is Yuma-kun, his brothers and yours...?"

There was no response for Reiji. It was a clear indicator for affirmation.

First Ryouichi who had attacked her uncle with a pack of wolves in the woods, and now Yuma who had just made Mifuyu into his snack. If he wasn't stopped by Yui and two of Reiji's siblings, the ravenette is fully aware she would have died right there and then. Mifuyu holds the sheets close to her and takes a deep breath.

"Do you remember our conversation at the cafe?" Reiji asks before going into his point, raising his glasses upright. "I had asked you what your motivation was for all of this, and I imply to ask you over and over again. So let me ask you, Satomi Mifuyu, is this the truth you wanted? Is this the truth you desired to see so badly? From two students killed in our academy's basement to your family member being harmed?"

Mifuyu's head jerks up to meet Reiji's gaze at the mention of her uncle and is met with those piercing knife-like raspberry hues again.

"What will you do now that you have this information?" The question he wanted to ask her all this time. The truth she has is undeniable. She has witnessed and has been a victim of the supernatural and by law, severe consequences were about to happen to the dear amateur detective.

"Where is Yuma?"

Reiji's eyes twitch in actual shock and suppress the urge to grit his fangs in anger. Yuma? Of all things she has learned, why ask a question about someone who she seemingly doesn't care for after all of what he had done mere moments ago?

"Unconscious and returned home tonight with his brothers." He simply responds to her question, once again attempting to let the seething settle down. Mifuyu starts to rise from her bed before he goes to stop her.

"Do not move until you are healed correctly. Your body will feel better by the end of the school night and you will be able to return home."

"You carried me here and bandaged me?" Mifuyu instead asks another question which only very slightly raises Reiji. "Oh? So you've finally decided to acknowledge what I decided to do after you fell unconscious? What a joke."

Mifuyu glares at him before slowly settling back down onto the bed. "Yes, I did bring you down here and tended to your wounds. Yuma did a number on your shoulder and neck, which bite marks I have almost never seen before." Reiji continues, crossing his arms back to his body.

"Although, they looked similar to the bite marks of those aforementioned students..." Reiji says, her eyes going wide at the sudden mumble.

"W-What do you mean...?! Does that mean Yuma is–?"

"I don't know for certain. I just know that he was not like this before we had crossed paths. This is either a new ability or curse to his being," Reiji says with a sigh. "The look in his eyes was definitely normal and needs to be examined thoroughly."

"Then I need to–"

"Which is why you will be my test subject in getting what I want," Reiji says matter-of-factly, with an eerie smile. Mifuyu's glare increases at her senior and bites her lip in agitation.

"What happens if I don't comply, class rep?"

"Then I erase your memories. Everything that you saw, even from the very beginning, will be wiped from your mind forever. The murders you have learned about, your little secrets with that supposed friend of yours, and your relationships regarding Yuma, Miss Komori, and myself will be gone."

"So you're blackmailing me," Mifuyu confirms with an aggravated tone of voice.

"Indeed, Miss Detective." Begrudgingly complying to listen to the second-eldest offer, Mifuyu agrees to go along with Reiji's plans. Once the deal has been made, he leaves the student to her own devices for the rest of the evening. He tells all of her instructors that she won't be attending for the rest of the day since she had gone home after falling ill. Mifuyu lays back in the infirmary bed and stares up at the ceiling.

There is zero chance she can get out of this situation now. She was locked in for good by Reiji and there was no way she could combat with that kind of strength.

A few teardrops fall from her eyes and she wipes them suddenly, sighing shallowly. "Father like daughter, huh? Always gettin' into trouble..."
