Chapter 12: UA
Izuku stood in front of UA, marveling at the school. He still couldn't believe that he would be going to what was once his dream school. While he still had doubts about abandoning his dreams of being a hero, he couldn't help but believe that this was the better choice to take.
Nedzu had sent him his UA pass through the mail and had told him to come today, a Monday. Izuku was hesitant to go to UA amongst all the other students but he took a deep breath and scanned his pass at the gate. The gate opened automatically and he walked in. Nedzu had not given any directions to his office but Hisashi had figured that he wouldn't and had drawn him a map.
Izuku strolled through the campus, map in hand. He was enjoying the peaceful and scenic environment around him. He passes a couple of giant cities labeled as training grounds as well and could see exactly why UA was the number 1 hero school in Japan. However, he was a bit let down. As the number 1 school, he expected UA to have much better security. Even though he did get in legitimately with a proper pass, he expected someone to recognize a stranger strolling through the campus and confront him. But it seemed like there was no one at all. There was an occasional student who walked past and gave him a funny look since he was out of uniform but besides that nothing.
He sighed. Maybe Nedzu had staff members looking through CCTV cameras at all times. There's no way that someone as smart as Nedzu could be that clueless. Then again, it could just be arrogance and an overestimation of his intelligence.
"Oi, who are you?" Izuku stopped cold in his tracks as he heard a rude voice behind him. He spun around quickly to see about 20 students behind him.
"Um, h-hi, I'm Midoriya Izuku!" he tried to sound as cheerful as possible.
A snort was heard in response, "Does it look like I care? Why the hell are you in our way?"
"I-in your way?" Izuku asked confused, staring at the wide path they were standing on. Izuku was knocked to the ground with a shove, "Don't you know who we are, huh? We're the hero class. Someone pathetic like you shouldn't get in our way. You aren't even wearing a uniform, so you must be in support class or some other loser class. Why don't you move to the sidelines and let future heroes do their job instead of wasting their time!?" the bully kicked Izuku while he was on the ground.
The class started snickering at Izuku who had frozen and was sobbing as memories of Bakugou's bullying flooded his mind and set him off into a panic attack, "Please stop," he sobbed harder.
"Aww, are you going to cry for your mommy?" a girl from the class asked, setting off peals of laughter.
"Ne, what is your quirk anyway?" Another boy asked.
"I bet it's something useless. Look at him, I bet his quirk is crying haha," Someone laughed.
"Oi, what's your quirk!?" The bully demanded as he shoved him on his back. Izuku didn't respond, still in shock from all his traumatic memories hitting him, "I asked you a question!" He was stomped on.
The pain knocked Izuku out of his shock, painfully, "I'm quirkless," he said in a quiet voice, "What, quirkless?" The bully laughed, "You're even more useless than I thought!"
Izuku grunted as memories of Bakugou calling him useless and telling him to jump off a roof came to mind. His head started paining at the continuous flash of memories, "Oi guys, let's teach this quirkless kid not to get in the way of actual heroes again," The bully said, earning a shout of acknowledgment from the class. Izuku braced himself as he saw the bully have the same exact face as Bakugou wore.
"MORITSUNA WAZASHI!" Everyone froze as they heard an angry, almost animalistic voice shout from behind them. The bully spun around quickly in fear, "P-principal Nedzu," he stuttered over his words, fear leaking into his soul. In fact, the whole class had frozen. Nedzu no longer looked like the furry bear-rat chimera he was and instead looked like a fierce bear who was on the hunt.
"S-sir, w-we," Someone tried to speak up but was instantly silenced, "NOT A WORD! ALL OF YOU ARE EXPELLED IMMEDIATELY!"
"E-expelled?" One of the girls gasped.
"B-but sir, we're the h-hero class. You can't expel us!"
"You were never hero material, to begin with. Aizawa already handed me expulsion forms a week ago. This was a probation period where anyone who messed up again would get expelled. Do you think UA is so lax that we won't know of your bullying the Gen Ed students?"
Some of the students bowed their heads in shame but Wazashi exploded in rage, "All of them are useless anyway! Why are you expelling us over someone quirkless!?" He demanded.
"I'd advise you to not insult my personal student lest you want harsher punishment," Nedzu warned, earning shocked gasps from some of the students, "Now as punishment, you are all to clean all of the toilets on campus,"
"B-but you just said we're expelled,"
"You are but I have not drafted the form yet which means you are still students of UA which means you must do any punishment I require you to do. That is of course unless you want an even more scathing remark as the reason for your expulsion from UA which would make it harder for you to get into other schools," Nedzu smiled sadistically, "Am I understood?"
"Yes sir..."
"THEN GO!" Nedzu yelled, causing all of them to scram.
Nedzu rushed to Izuku, "Are you alright?" he pulled Izuku up slowly, assessing his injuries.
"F-f-fine, F-f-fine," Izuku kept stuttering over and over again.
"Shit," Nedzu cursed, "Panic attack," he recognized, "Izuku, look at me, look at me!" he said warmly. Izuku slowly faced Nedzu, his breath still ragged, "Just breathe, okay? Breathe in and out. Everything's alright now, I'm here. No one is going to hurt you," Nedzu comforted Izuku, hugging his head. Izuku slowly started to breathe more normally but still with a few sharp intakes in between.
"Come on, let's go to recovery girl to get you checked out,"
"N-no!" Izuku recoiled slightly.
"Izuku?" Nedzu asked worryingly.
"N-no medic,"
"Why?"
"I'm f-fine. W-we don't need to bother Recovery Girl. She p-probably has b-better things to do," Izuku said quietly, "Let's just go to your office for our lesson,"
Nedzu gave him a scrutinizing look before sighing, "Fine. Can you walk?"
"Mhm,"
The two walked in silence for a while. Nedzu was running scenarios in his head. He had already texted Chiyo discreetly, to come by his office but he still couldn't understand why Izuku refused to go to her. Normally, he could drop it as him being scared of nurses and injections but in this case, Izuku's expression was just... haunting.
"Nedzu-sensei,"
"Hmm?" Nedzu snapped out of his thoughts.
"You didn't have to expel them for me. I'm useless anyway,"
"Izuku, you are NOT useless," Nedzu gritted his teeth, "Class 1-A deserved to be expelled. Your quirk does not mean they can bully you. Why do you think I'm teaching you personally?" Nedzu said rhetorically, "It's because I know that you have immense potential. Half of Japan would kill to learn directly from me but you are the only one to prove yourself! I'm sure Hisashi already talked about this to you. You will make a better hero than them,"
Izuku's mouth moved into a sad smile, "...Thank you sensei,"
Nedzu nodded, "We're here," he said and opened the door to his office. Izuku entered with wide eyes. The office was so big, spacious, and cool and Recovery girl was there too, wait, Izuku paled, why was recovery girl here?
"Izuku, as your teacher, I can't let you just walk around with injuries and blood all over you. Recovery Girl is here to treat you,"
"Take a seat," Chiyo smiled warmly.
Izuku gulped and obliged. None of them talked much as Chiyo swiftly wrapped his cuts and bruises with bandages, "There you go. No major injuries, so I won't be using my quirk on you. Have a lollipop," Chiyo handed to Izuku who stared at her blankly before giving a wide smile, "Thanks Recovery Girl,"
"Anytime. I have to get going now, Class 3-A is finished with their training session and they always have at least one injured student. I want a detailed explanation of what happened later, Nedzu," Chiyo ordered as she picked up her equipment. Nedzu nodded in response, "Thank you again,"
Once Chiyo had left, Nedzu turned to Izuku, "Can you tell me why you didn't want to go to Recovery Girl at first?"
"N-no reason," Izuku tried to brush aside the question but sighed under Nedzu's eyes, "Back in Aldera, no matter how injured I got the nurse didn't help. Instead, she kept rubbing alcohol on my wounds to make it pain harder. I know you're supposed to use alcohol for sterilization but she would use 1 or 2 bottles and not even bandage it," Izuku confessed.
Nedzu had a cold, angry look on his face hearing that, but he brushed it aside for now. The nurse was in prison now, so she was paying her dues, "I understand but Recovery Girl will never hurt you. She's one of the few who knows about my torturers and she regularly beats up Hisashi when he gets injured from doing something ridiculous. Even All Might and I get berated by her,"
"Y-you do?"
"Yup. Never mess with the medic," Nedzu advised.
"So, what are we starting on?" Izuku asked enthusiastically.
Nedzu smiled, "I'll be giving your schedule first but I think we should wait a bit. I asked someone to help with your training,"
Almost immediately in response, there was a knock at the door, "Speak of the devil!" Nedzu grinned, "Come in,"
Aizawa entered the room with a nonchalant expression on his face, "Nedzu, where's my class?" he demanded.
"They were expelled,"
"Expelled? I thought you were giving them another chance?"
"I was. But then they bullied this boy," Nedzu pointed to Izuku who was squirming in his seat. He was still in disbelief having seen Eraserhead in real life.
"Who is he?" Aizawa asked, perplexed.
"This is Midoriya Izuku, my personal student," Nedzu grinned setting off warning bells in Aizawa's mind, "Personal? Oh no," he couldn't help but think. Nedzu continued, "On their way back to the dressing room, Class 1-A started to bully Izuku for being quirkless,"
"Quirkless?" Aizawa's mind started racing.
izuku seemed to sink deeper into his seat hearing Nedzu tell Eraserhead about his quirklessness, "What does that have to do with me?" Aizawa asked.
Nedzu smirked, "I want you to teach Izuku how to fight!"
A/N: I'm sorry for not updating last week. My school restarted and I'm still getting used to my new schedule. My update schedule might change sometimes and I might be forced to not update for a week in the middle. I'll try my best to update both Appearances can be deceiving and hero but not a pro but I will most certainly update at least once. That being said, this week is off for me so I'll try to stock up on chapters.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter even though it's relatively shorter.
