Chapter 26 - Restless

"Leonhardt… that's one name I didn't expect to hear again, even less from you…"

A rush of anxiety paired with a flush of excitement flowers over Link while Impa's inquisitive red eyes study him from top to bottom.

"Master, we apologize for distracting you from your duties, but I believe if someone can enlighten us about this person. That someone would be you, the Royal Family's spymaster." Sheik jumped in, trying to get his aunt piercing gaze away from Link.

Impa gave a short nod, her eyes bouncing from one blond to the other. "A sound conclusion. However, your interest in this particular person is rather puzzling." She said with her stern voice, one that Sheik know all too well. "Please, take a seat…"

Dropping her ink-coated feather, Impa pointed for both young men to take a seat on the chairs in front of her. The two blondes shared an unease glance between themselves, both clearly unsure if they should step inside the master Sheikah's quarters proper; but clearing her throat with enough gusto, Impa 'convinced' them to do as she asked.

"Sheik, considering that you know me well, I assume that you know the price for coming to me with this." Impa calmly addressed her nephew, who grimaced at her words.

"Yes… master. I'm well aware." The red-eyed blond replied with a sigh.

Glancing from Sheik to Impa, Link furrowed his brow. "What price are you two going on about?"

Seeing the worried confusion on the Hero's young handsome face, Impa gave him a small smile. "Well, Link. We Sheikah stand by very strict tenets."

Link now properly frowned. "Te… Tenets?"

"A code of rules." Sheik explained trying to ease Link to the conversation.

"Exactly, and it is something that we take very seriously," Impa added. "As Sheikah, we are expected to uphold a difficult role within Hyrule's hierarchy. Something that has always been, and shall remain as it is for as long as the Sheikah exists."

"That would be your role as spies?" The blue-eyed blond chirped, smiling happily when Impa nodded at him.

"You are right, but our role is much more than just spies." She said back, leaning back against her chair. "We are of the shadows. Our clan is different from the people of Hyrule, from you, a Hylian. It's a burden that only we can carry. Sorry for not elaborating it further, but our secrets are only for the Sheikah. I pray that you understand."

To say that Link truly understood her wishes and her words would be incorrect, but thankfully the blond has enough tact to see that this is very important for Impa and Sheik, so he just nodded curtly to her.

"With that being said, to uphold our duty, we Sheikah do our best to strive to always be better." Impa began to explain. "Think of this as you maintaining your sword. I assume you take very good care of it, isn't that so?" She raised a brow, truly curious about his answer.

"Yes, ma'am. I keep her sharpened, I clean the blade after a fight or a heavy training session and I also try to keep the sheath as clean as possible." Link made a face as he gestured with his hands. "If the sword got stuck in there when I'm in a pinch… it would be a nightmare."

Impa's lips twitch slightly in what can be considered a small smile. "A time-consuming task, but a necessary one. You see, Sheik and I do the same thing. However, we not only tend to our weapons. We also have to upkeep our most important tool." She then tapped the side of her hand with one finger.

"I… see…" Link said simply. "But what this has to do with this price?"

"One of our most important jobs is gathering intelligence," Impa said in response. "Then, If Sheik is after a piece of information, I expect him to achieve it by himself. It helps him keep his mind sharp and his skills honed. So, if he is asking for my help to get something of the kind, then he is abdicating his sovereignty in the investigation."

The blue-eyed blond stared at her with a completely puzzled expression, Impa's pompous words bouncing right out from his head. His earnest reaction made both Sheikah chuckle softly at him.

"To put it bluntly, if I want any answers from my master, then we'll have to share everything with her." Sheik explained, feeling the small discomfort on Link after hearing this.

"Very well put, nephew." From the slightly soft expression, Impa's face turned stern and distant once more, resuming her Sheikah persona in full. "So, I shall start then, if no one has any grievances with these terms. What is your interest in this person? How did you come to learn of Leonhardt's name?"

Link shrunk on his chair. Unable to hold his gaze against Impa's piercing stare, he shifted his eyes to the side, finding a small consolation when Sheik pressed a soft touch on his arm.

"I… General Val told me of this person." Link replied with a small truth.

"Is that so?" She stared at Link, watching as the blond practically squirmed under her gaze. "I can believe that, considering the story both men share. However, it's hard to believe that this would be enough to push Sheik to come here." She then eyed the blond Sheikah, who sat a little straighter in response. "Impulsive as you may be, I don't believe you would start this over mere a small fit of curiosity, nephew."

Sheik glanced at Link, his lover is frantically playing with his thumbs, frowning deeply with his internal turmoil.

It is clear to him that Link is not comfortable sharing his suspicion with the Spymaster, so he juggled a few thoughts together to try and remedy the situation.

"Well, it's true that I don't share Link's child-like novelty about the world." As he started, Link glanced at him with a small frown, offended by the remark thrown at him. "But the name gave me pause, master. I like to believe that I've become intimate with the name of high-ranking officers, both allies and enemies. However, this Leonhardt person, I don't believe I know him. That is enough to make me wonder."

Looking at her nephew's unflinching eyes, Impa shrugged. "Understandable. After all, you were the one responsible for tracking Ganondorf's top lieutenants by our Princess' request. In your place, I would also be startled if by some reason a new name appeared where I should've known all of those involved."

"Then why I never heard of this Leonhardt before?" Sheik asked. "In these past years, I've properly memorized the name and face of every corrupted bastard working for the Usurper. So why I have no recollection of this person?"

"You are trying to alter our deal, nephew." Impa gave a small glare towards Sheik. "I still have no clue why you are so interested in this person."

Sheik glanced at Link again, the blond looking just as perturbed as he was before. At this point Sheik had started to feel bad, it was his idea to come after his master for answers, Link told him that he didn't want anyone else knowing about this, and now he has practically forced Link to share it with someone else.

Biting his lips, Sheik leaned forward, placing both hands on the small desk. Looking directly onto Impa's impassive eyes, he said with a pleading tone. "Aunt… please. Just this one time."

Frowning deeply, Impa was ready to give a harsh reply to her nephew. But the desperate look in his eyes made her pause for a second, made her glance at Link that is showing very clear on his face that he wants to be anywhere else but here at the moment.

So, taking a deep breath, Impa crossed her arms and just shook her head. "You already know him, nephew." She replied simply. "Your confusion stands only for the name, but the person you've stalked before. Multiple times, in fact."

"Who is it, then?" Sheik asked, frowning at the acid taste appearing at the back of his tongue from nowhere.

"Leonhardt was widely known in Hyrule, the Golden Lion was just as famous as our Scarlet Wolf, General Val himself." Impa began. "Ganondorf saw fitting to grant his servant a new title, just another way of him spitting on the Royal Family's face… Now, Leonhardt is no more, instead, he goes by Eyiah. Commander of the first battalion of the Black Legion."

Sheik drew a sharp breath. His startled reaction and following silence made Link look at him and then glance at Impa worriedly.

"Eyiah? What is that?" He asked.

"That is a Sheikah name. A set of words to be precise." She explained. "In the common language, it would translate to something like 'A departure' or the act of dying prematurely." Then, for the briefest of moments, Impa appeared to have lost her always cold and calm demeanor, her eyes flashing with a furious glow. "That name… Eyiah is very taboo for Hylians, for those who remember. It weighs heavily on the death of my people."

"I don't understand, but… that's awful, right?" Link said with a little voice. "I mean, he is using that name just to spite the Sheikah?"

"The Sheikah? No, not us. In truth, it is aimed at those responsible for that... atrocity." Impa explained grimly. "Look, boys. I shall refrain from prying on this, but at least I will give you a piece of advice. No, an order." She then looked at Sheik, who just glanced at her still speechless. "Whatever has pushed you two to be curious about this man, you have to let it go. He is dangerous and it would be best if you stayed as far away as possible from him."

"Well, I can't." Link said back defiantly, drawing a sharp look from the frightening woman. "He is one of Ganondorf's soldiers, right? So, I can't stay away from this person. One way or another, I will have to get past him if I want to get a shot at his boss."

"If you will or not cross him in the battlefield, only the Goddesses know," Impa replied, studying the blonde's blue eyes. "But this is not what I'm advising you against. I have a feeling that this curiosity of yours, may take you to seek out this man. Link, that would be a mistake, I'm telling you. No matter what fantastical tale General Val may have told you, this man is evil and he will deliver your head on a platter to his master given the chance."

Looking intently at her, Link sat at the edge of his seat, ready to say something back, but failing to form the words.

Seeing the clear rebelliousness of that gaze, Impa sighed deeply and waved one hand at them. "If you don't believe my words, then ask Sheik about him." She glanced at her nephew, whose face is starting to regain a little of its original color. "By now, I'm sure he knows enough to push you away from this foolishness. Now please, leave me be. I have a lot of work to do."

After getting shooed away by Impa, the pair of blondes found a little place to stay together in a cozy spot around a lit campfire. Luckily for them, whoever prepared this fire and stools are nowhere in sight now, probably retired for the night.

They sat down next to each other, but not of them said a word after it. They are in small turbulence of emotion, as they both got so excited when Link shared his theory with Link, and now they are both wary and depressed after their visit to the Spymaster's quarter.

Reaching down to break a thin twig sticking out from the side of the round raw piece of log he is sitting on, Link leaned forward on his seat, poking and probing the slowly exhausting fire in front of him.

The Sheikah at his side has yet to take his eyes away from Link. Rolling his thumb over the side of his index finger, Sheik felt his heart break for his lover.

For someone that had so much taken away from him, Sheik wanted to give at least this to Link. He would do his best to assist his boyfriend in his quest to find his missing father.

However, after learning what about the man's name from his master…

"Link." Sheik called out.

A small shiver crossed Link's body, his expression turning into a frown, and yet he turned his head to glance at Sheik.

Sheik smiled softly, but his visible red eye showed how contrite he feels. "I think… I think that maybe you are wrong." He said calmly. "Perhaps, this Leonhardt person is not your father after all."

With a sounding click of his tongue, Link shifted his gaze down and proceeded to poke the fire with more gusto. "A few minutes earlier you were agreeing with me." The Hero grumbled.

"A few minutes earlier I didn't know the true identity of this person." Sheik said back with his usual stern voice. "Link, just believe me. There's little to no chance of you and this person being related."

"And why?!" Link said back, returning Sheik's serious stare with a hurting glare.

"Because, Link, you are a good person. You are willingly risking your life for others, taking a battle that shouldn't be yours to give us a chance." A slow and long breath flew from Sheik's mouth, the red-eyed blond calming himself before his temper could get out of hand. "Even… even if by some twisted sense of irony, the Goddesses have decided to make this person your father, you should let him go."

Staring firmly at Sheik's concerned eye, Link frowned and bit his lips. "Is he… that bad?"

"Yes… he is," Sheik said simply. "I think, at least for now, it is best if you don't know the extent of how bad he is."

Link lips quivered but he held on. Shifting his gaze back to the diminishing flame, he snapped his twig in two and tossed it onto the shining embers. "Okay. I trust you, Sheik."

Pulling another piece of wood sticking out from the cut log he is sitting on; Link broke the piece in two and then broke those pieces as well. Pushing his lips in a tight line, he tossed it all into the fire and just watched it grow and regain a bit of life that it had lost.

Quietly, Sheik pulled his stool closer and reached for Link's left hand. Jumping slightly at the touch, Link glanced at his lover, a glow of appreciation on his blue eyes. Intertwining their fingers together, they leaned closer to one another and just sat there watching the dancing flames making shadows at the back of some grey tent.

"Hey guys!" A happy and bouncing Vahn came towards them after spotting the pair sitting quietly on this corner. At first, he was giggling with himself, seeing the perfect opportunity to tease them a little, but after seeing the heavy glances he received, the red-haired instead took a seat across from them in this small camp and eyed them curiously. "So… what happened to make you guys look like sad puppies under the rain?"

Sheik sighed, once more not feeling comfortable in sharing a secret Link asked him to keep. But before the Sheikah could come up with a little cover for their distressed state, Link looked at Vahn and gave the petite scholar a sad little smile. "We may have found my father… his identity at least."

Vahn beamed, but quickly his expression turned into a little confused frown. "Well, that's great, isn't it? Why are you two so sad…" He then pressed one hand to his mouth, his eyes glistering instantly with a sad glow. "Is he dead?"

Link shook his head, confusing his friend even further. The tall blond them gave his partner a small look, pleading with his eyes to help him with the answer.

Another sigh escaped the Sheikah, but after feeling the light pull on his hand, he smiled at Link and looked at Vahn. "Link has found some small hints that make us believe that his father… that his father may be a man known as Eyiah."

"Oh." Vahn's eyes turned glossy for a moment. "Oh!" Then they almost jumped out from their sockets, his thoughts jumping restlessly with the shock. Lastly, his big emerald-green eyes softened and got shinier with the glow of tears. "Oh… Link…" He promptly stood up and ran forward to crash upon his friend with a messy hug. "I'm so sorry…."

Wrapping his right arm around Vahn's back, Link returned the hug and pulled his friend closer, resting his cheek on the scholar's fluffy red hair. "I guess he is really, really bad, huh?"

For what feels like an eternity Zelda has entertained and conversed with Arturia's entourage, well, mostly their ambassador. The man is not only a bore but also very demanding with his talk.

Always trying to stir the conversation to where it best suits him and when pushed against, is very quick to frown and turn sour with his tone, despite standing in a room with royalty.

Zelda is a Princess too, for Goddesses' sake!

Her outrage at the man's manners and his crooked ugly nose sat quietly but fuming behind her mask of benevolent, gentle, and fragile woman. She would love to scream and kick him out of her quarters for insinuating half of the things he has proposed this night.

Yet, her people, her kingdom are depending on her good relation with Arturia leaders, so that in time they will stand up with them against Ganondorf's tyranny.

Luckily for the Princess, the annoying balding man has apparently grown tired of his own voice and soon suggested to his party that they should depart to their accommodations.

"A pleasant evening for you, fair Princess." The balding man said with an impeccable bow as he raised from his seat. "I pray that you reconsider our offer. My liege is not known for his boundless patience." With one final nod, the man turned with a swift move, his olive-green robes swaying in the air in a pompous manner.

Zelda smiled sweetly as she watched the man leave, then her eyes shifted to the masked person that stood up gracefully and bowed at her.

"I wish you a good night, Princess." This masked person said, their voice smooth, melodious, and clearly female. With a final curtesy, they excused themselves.

The tall knight gave a firm salute and then a stiff small bow; the woman mostly accustomed to military affairs and customs, made her best to not offend Zelda. "Good night, your grace. I beg you to forgive Daston for his venomous tongue. The man sometimes thinks too highly of himself."

"Fret not lady Lyna. I've grown quite accustomed to aristocrats and their… way of talking." Zelda offered with a smile, masking her aggravation with a simple lie.

Lyna gave the princess a sympathetic smile and then saluted her again. Turning on her heels, the impressive woman made her exit to the sound of her heavy boot stomping on the floor.

Still holding her friendly smile, Zelda turned her attention to the supposed leader of their company, Prince Drahken himself.

With a quick look at him, she expected the man to throw an awfully tacky flirting line at her and then make his exit with as much fanfare as he is used to making.

To her surprise, the handsome silver-haired man smiles softly at her and then reached for a still-warm teapot resting on the small table close to him. Letting out a low humming, the man poured half a cup of tea for himself and then took a little sip.

As much as Zelda tried to hold her pleasant expression at the man's company, she has had quite enough for the night. Pushing her arms together across her chest, she leaned back in her chair and stared firmly at her guest.

"Prince Drahken, I think it would be wise for you to follow your party." She said with a neutral voice still. "It's not proper for a Prince and a Princess to share a room alone at night."

Drahken smiled, his eyebrows arching slightly in a suggestive way. "My, my. What a bold prospect you have described, dear Princess."

"I've described only your lack of tact." She said back firmly. "And nothing else."

Taking another unpreoccupied sip of his teacup, the silver-haired young man laid back on his padded chair and chuckled. "There is it. I've been waiting for the moment I would meet the real Princess Zelda of Hyrule."

She frowned at him. "Whatever do you mean, Prince Drahken?"

"Please, your highness. Don't insult my intelligence." He said back with a wave of a hand. "I am of royal blood as well, remember? I also have learned to wear a mask in front of others. It makes them believe that we are gullible, fools. When the fools are only them for judging one so easily."

Allowing her arms to rest, Zelda laid her hands on top of her lap. She gave the man in front of her a curious glance, slightly unsure of his seeming change of tone.

Noticing her shift in mood and the slight interest in her eyes, Drahken smiled again. "To appease the retinue sent by my esteemed father, you have posed as the compliant and quiet young woman. Hells, you even allowed Daston to run around making demands. The soggy old bastard almost thinks he owns this encampment of yours." He gave a short bow of his head at her. "Most impressive I must say. For a moment, your mask had even fooled me."

Zelda watched him with a new light in her eyes. She had dismissed this person as an irresponsible womanizer, hardly fit for the role demanded of him. But right now, she is perhaps learning a new side of him "Do please tell me, your highness, what mask do you wear?" She asked with a soft curl of her lips, the shadow of a sweet smile. "Is that flamboyant display of yours just an act? Is all that flirting an ingenious diversion to hide a serious man?"

He allowed himself to laugh. "Oh, I'm not that good of an actor, Princess. The passion for love is all me. Let's say I just put a bit more of an… exaggeration on it. Let them think of me as an inept dog in perpetual heat."

She frowned but maintained a friendly tone. "Hardly a dignified persona to wear."

"And my father despises me for it." He said with a small snort. "One more reason why I do it." Letting out a soft sigh, Drahken took his cup back and gulped down the rest of his tea, resting the cup back on the little table. "Pleasantries aside, I'm glad for this opportunity to talk to you properly. And also, to offer you my most sincere apology for my father's demands."

At the mention of said demands made at her, Zelda's expression darkened a little. "Truly? Until now I had the suspicion that you were the one behind this dreadful proposition."

"Not even remotely close to the truth of it." He said, now frowning too. "This arranged wedding was not my idea, Princess. My father has grown tired of my, in his words, shameful behavior. He took your plie for help as an opportunity to forward his own interests."

"Is it true?" She asked. "Would King Varthor truly deny us support against Ganondorf, if I don't accept his demands?"

Drahken grimaced, offering her a remorseful glance. "I am afraid so. My father is a self-interest-driven man, one turning worse by his passing years. If you don't accept his alliance proposal, then he will most likely stand by the sidelines in this war."

Zelda's gaze fell to her lap, her lips quivering. Be with anger or sadness, she almost allowed her feelings to break through but remained still and proper in front of her guest.

"Once again, I offer you, my apologies. If it was in my power to make it, you would not be standing in this position." He then pulled himself up and walked closer to Zelda. Carefully the silver-haired prince knelt in front of her and pressed a soft touch on her hands. "For what is worth it, I also don't want to marry you."

As Zelda looked up almost offended by the words, Drahken offered a charming smile. Noticing the intent of his words, a giggle came to her lips. "Well, the feeling is mutual then?" She then moved her hand to grab firmly at his. "Maybe we can stand together in our desire to not marry one another?"

He chuckled and nodded at her. "Hm… is this perhaps the start of a friendly partnership, Zelda?"

She giggled and smiled at him. "Perhaps it is, Drahken."

Darkness unbound is everywhere.

No warmth, no life.

Like a piercing steel racing across his lungs, Link takes a rasping breath, his body arcing forward in a painful throb.

'Where I am?'

Link glances around him, seeing nothing. He closes his eyes and then opens them again, trying to dispel the blindness afflicting his vision.

To his mild surprise, it worked.

The darkness receded a little, making a path of grey dull light beneath his feet.

Entranced by the only visible sight in front of him, Link follows the glowing path ahead of him. Weary and scared of this ominous place.

"LINK!" Sheik's voice echoed from ahead. A scream of terror, a desperate plea for help.

Startled, the young Hero pressed forward, running as fast as he could along the grey path.

"HELP US, LINK!" Zelda's voice sung all around him, the same intensity, the same terror present in her tone.

Running and running, Link kept going as more and more voices exploded around him. Vahn, La'Azul, Impa, Saria, Darunia, even General Val's voice joined their choir of cries.

Getting anxious and desperate, Link bit his lower lip furiously, drawing blood from the tender flesh.

As the prickle of tears stung in his eyes, he felt his body get forced to stop, the path made of light disappearing from his vision.

Scanning the surrounding in a confused daze, Link found a lone spotlight to the side, one giant bottomless canyon separating him from that bright spot.

Clenching his eyes, he recognized two figures laying on the floor, holding their hands up in a defensive stance.

"Link!"

"Help!"

Sheik and Zelda's voices echoed again, giving form to the two silhouettes, showing the pair of siblings begging for their life as a massive shadow towered above them.

Stepping towards them, Link felt his right foot slip at nothing, forcing him to pull back to where he was standing. With trembling eyes, he watched as that monstrous figure moved closer and closer to them.

As his chest tightened in panic, he felt a gentle tug on his back. Glancing at it, he found the Master Sword resting on its sheath, nudging him forward with a soft push.

"Hang on!" He shouted, taking a few steps back to get enough distance.

As he prepared himself to the dash, he saw as that thing brought its gigantic sword upon Zelda and Sheik, swallowing them beneath its weight.

"NOOOOOO!"

Link cried out, leaping across the giant gap. With tears flying from his eyes, he glared furiously at the giant shadow. Pulling his weapon from its resting place on his back, Link came crashing down upon this monster, slashing the creature's arms off with one strike.

He ignored the monster for the moment, he glanced left and right, trying to find Zelda or Sheik. But everywhere he looked he found nothing but darkness, everywhere excepted to the highlighted platform where he and the monster stands.

Turning back with a furious movement, Link glared back at the figure he has incapacitated, for the first time noticing that this monster is a giant man wearing a full set of metallic armor.

He looked down at the growling thing, a look of disdain plastered on the young Hero's face.

"You hurt them…" He quietly snarled. "I'll never forgive you, never!"

With a fast swing of his arm, he slashed across this thing's head, blowing the heavy helmet open, gushing blood high in the air.

As the shattered pieces of metal fell onto the floor, Link saw long locks of blond hair trailing down a bruised and bloodied face. Glancing at the person kneeling in front of him, Link saw a pair of bright blue eyes staring at him.

"S-Son…" The person said softly and full of heart-wrenching sadness.

Link pulled back, taking three steps away from this man. "F-Father?!"

The spotlight disappeared, leaving Link into the sea of darkness he was lost before.

And from deep, deep within the darkness, the soft and continuous sound of drums came to life.

Thump, Thump, Thump.

Feeling a nauseating headache beating at his thoughts, Link bent forward, tossing both hands to the side of his head.

Thump, Thump, Thump.

"Witness your sin, your legacy." A thunderous and ominous voice exploded from everywhere, clashing upon Link from all sides. "Feel its weight, taste its sours pus. This is your destiny…"

Clenching his teeth, Link forced his eyes open. He glanced left and right, seeing nothing but darkness covering the relentless stream of drums.

"Who's talking?" He screamed against the shadows. "What are you? What do you want with me?"

Then, from the pitch blackness in front of him, he felt a gush of hair as a stream of pale white hands came rushing towards him.

Each hand grabbed at one part of his body, their long bloody-red nails scratching a searing pain like fire on his skin.

Thump, Thump, Thump.

"Do you not know, Hylian?" The voice hissed with the cry of a thousand voices. "Then watch, feel. Witness your legacy…"

Link struggled against the raging hands trashing his body around, holding his head high, his eyes widened as he saw a terrifying image manifest itself in front of him.

Like a flourishing flower, layers of grey thick skin peeled themselves open in the air revealing a giant glowing red eye staring directly at Link.

"Behold, your fate." The eye said maliciously, a stream of tortured voices screaming loudly in an ear-piercing screech.

An awful taste crawled down onto Link's throat, glancing down he saw one of the hands prying his mouth open and invading his body with a forceful push.

He trashed, and struggle. Feeling a mind-tearing pain in his chest, he tried to scream as loudly as he could, but his voice would not come out.

He tried to scream, but only a muffled sound was made.

He tried to scream,

He tried and tried again.

"Link…"

Forcing his eyes shut, Link tried with all his being to scream.

"Link, Link!"

Shooting up on his bed, Link gasped loudly for air as he woke up. His eyes wide and trembling, noticed a worried Vahn standing by the right side.

"Are you okay?" Vahn asked. "You were screaming like crazy, when I got closer to see you, I noticed you sweating like in a sauna. Do you want me to go fetch Doctor Rose?"

"Ahn… Ha… No…" Link wobbly shook his head. "It was… just a nightmare." He tried to give Vahn a little reassuring smile, but his lips only managed to press a thin line.

Vahn stared at Link for a little longer, the red-haired still concerned for his friend. "Do you want a cup of water? It may help a little."

"I do, thank you."

Replying with a little nod and a smile, Vahn rushed away to try and find a cup of water for his friend.

As the red-haired scholar went away, Link fell with his head on the hard pillow of his bed again. His blue eyes staring at the ceiling of Doctor Rose's infirmary.

"What in the blazing hells was that?"

Link pressed his back against the wall of the cavern, his red eyes scanning the darkest spot closest to him. Feeling a familiar nudged on the back of his mind, he glared and growled at it.

'Again… it's beckoning me again. What is this?' He frowned fiercely, clenching his fist and pressing it to his lips.

"Oi, Rookie. What are doing up this late in the night?" El'Azul called out, his head popping from the entrance of one of the tents.

With a simple glance, Link looked at the Zora and shrugged. "Can't sleep."

El'Azul frowned but shrugged back. "Whatever, Rookie. Just remember that when the sun is up, we are leaving and I expect you to be there."

Letting out another growl Link glanced away from the man. "I know." He said sharply, ending their conversation right there.

Lingering his eyes on the pale blond for a little longer, the Boss vanished back to the tent to find some sleep, allowing Link to sulk by himself along with the darkness surrounding him on this night.
