Chapter 21: Combat Training
A/N: Past 100 reviews! Whoo! Thanks all of you!
"So, how are you doing?" Shisui asked Izuku hesitantly. They hadn't talked since Shizune had figured out about his false quirk diagnosis.
"Yeah," Izuku smiled guiltily, "Sorry for bursting out like that," Izuku apologized for the way he acted.
Shisui shrugged it off, "I understand. I can't imagine it was easy to hear that you might have a quirk," Shisui smiled, "So did you get a proper diagnosis?"
"Yeah, I'm still quirkless, no worries," Izuku smiled.
Shisui looked a bit shook. "Um, sorry?" he offered awkwardly.
Izuku smiled, "No, I'm glad I'm quirkless,"
Shisui narrowed his eyes, "Wait… really?"
"Yeah, I mean, I've always been quirkless. That's what makes me different. I want to prove that being quirkless doesn't mean useless," Izuku explained.
Shisui smiled, "Good to see the quirk thing hasn't got you down. But, you know, there have been many quirkless officers before. You won't be the first one," he informed.
"I know. I just want to prove that I can be an even better one," Izuku grinned.
"A very admirable dream. I hope you can do it," An unknown voice spoke between the two. The two turned swiftly and were met with the piercing azure eyes of their blonde teacher, "Hi, I'm Namikaze Minato, your teacher!"
"G-good morning sensei," Izuku greeted nervously. He felt a bit embarrassed that he had overheard their conversation.
Minato nodded with a smile and went up to the front of the class, "Good Morning. I am Namikaze Minato, your Cybercrimes teacher,"
"Whoa, we are starting on Cybercrimes so early?" Shisui asked.
"Not entirely. I'm just going to give you the basics of what I do to give you an understanding of the subject," Minato explained.
Itachi raised his hand and Minato called on him, "You are the Yellow Flash, aren't you?"
"Indeed, I am," Minato smiled, "Fugaku's son, right?"
Itachi nodded. A boy at the back of the class gasped, "Whoa! How did you get such a cool nickname?"
"I'm really good at coding and hacking. I can get in and out of a server in a flash. The yellow part is mostly just about my hair,"
"So, are we going to learn to code?"
"Soon, but not yet," Minato replied, "I want to know what you think cybercrime is," Minato sat on the desk.
The class looked at each other. Tenten hesitantly stood up, "Crimes that occur on the internet or done through computers,"
"Exactly! That was easy, no need to be so shy," Minato smiled warmly, "Now, what types of crimes can occur online?"
"Hacking, theft, trafficking, scams," Tenten listed.
"Yes, very good. Now, how do you think the police curbs these? The internet isn't limited to just one country. Other countries interact with our citizens too. So how do we curb cybercrimes?"
"By responding to each complaint efficiently?"
"In theory that would be the best, but there are thousands of cases every day. Even downloading illegally is a crime. Anyone else?"
Izuku remembered Nedzu's lesson about the topic and shot his hand up, "By implementing pre-existing protocols,"
"That is one method but it's very limited," Minato said, "The best thing to do is to go after the parent organization. Say, for example, you have a website that illegally provides songs. If you go after the website, you are cutting off the supply and you will have grounds to check their traffic graphs to have a rough understanding of the culprits. This is just a simple example. Police rarely go after small-time websites like these since we have much more pressing crimes at hand," Minato explained.
Itachi frowned, "But that's not fair. Isn't it injustice for people with less severe crimes to get away just because the police don't have enough time?"
Minato smirked, "I agree. This is why I want to teach all of you how to do simple cyber protocols to track petty crimes like these. This way, the cybercrime division can focus fully on the serious issues like trafficking while officers in the normal division won't need to take up our time on simpler issues,"
"So, the plan is to teach us from the academy level?"
"Exactly. Of course, after the 6 months, you won't be forced to take it up but I guarantee you'll come to love it!" Minato challenged, "Now, let's get some work done!"
"How can you love that?" Shisui complained as they left Minato's class, "I have a headache from all those codes," he groaned.
"I thought it was fun," Izuku told his friend.
"Of course, you did. You and Itachi are both too smart," Shisui accused. Izuku laughed, "What do we have next?" Izuku asked.
"Combat training with Garp-sensei," Shisui shuddered, "I heard he's ruthless,"
"Can't be worse than Gai-sensei," Izuku hummed. He shivered at the memory of seeing the man doing pushups on his pinkies.
The students dumped their books into their lockers and headed to the gym. Izuku noticed that several other students were growing nervous, even Itachi. The class silently sat down in the gym and waited for Garp to appear.
The wait wasn't long as Garp slammed through the door and cracked his knuckles, "First years!" he grinned like he had won a prize. Izuku gulped as a large trolley full of volleyballs followed.
"Today's lesson will be dodging," he grinned sadistically, "Come on, to your feet!"
The class gulped in fear and collectively stood up in fear. Garp didn't even give a sign that he was starting and threw a ball as hard as he could at Izuku, catching him in the stomach. Izuku groaned and hunched over in pain. The rest of the class took Izuku's unfortunate strike as a warning and spread out.
Garp didn't even bat an eye and continued to throw balls at them. Yelps echoed through the room. Shisui in particular had three balls thrown at him under a second. With a gulp, he instinctively used his quirk to get away.
Garp didn't say a word and continued to throw the balls, "Sensei, he used his quirk!" someone ratted Shisui out.
"So!?" Garp demanded and hit the boy who had said that headfirst, "I don't care if you use your quirks. All you need to do is dodge,"
The class stared, "But isn't quirk usage illegal?"
"If a murderer is getting away, will you use your quirk to get him or will you be an upstanding citizen, you stupid!" Garp shouted and hit the student with his 'fist of love'
The class took the advice to heart and instantly it was a free for all as everyone avoided the balls with their quirks. This was a disadvantage to Izuku who could not dodge any of the balls and with everyone else dodging, he was getting singled out.
"Oomph," Izuku groaned in pain as a ball hit him in between his eyes. Shisui noticed that Izuku was being singled out and shouted, "Hey! Why are you picking on Izuku!?" he demanded, "Just because he's quirkless,"
"Partly," Garp replied.
The mood in the class turned sour, "That's not fair!" Tenten wailed. Garp hit her over the head lightly, "Let me finish!"
The class nodded quickly, "Midoriya Izuku is quirkless, I know. But that means he has to work harder than any of you. The rest of you all have advantages because of your quirks. The world won't throw less at Izuku because of his disadvantage. They will throw more because he looks weak!" Garp announced.
Izuku looked a bit heartbroken at the speech. He knew Garp wasn't wrong but all the other teachers were supportive. Garp was the only one that was determined to not treat him any different for his quirklessness.
It hurt for it to be showcased like this but it also made him more determined to try his best, "I'll try my best sensei!"
Garp chuckled, "Anyway, I should know better than you guys since I'm quirkless too. So is Gai,"
The class looked shocked, "H-huh?" Shisui broke the silence, "B-but you are keeping up with my body flicker! And Gai sensei easily defeats everyone!"
Garp laughed, "Anything is possible if you're strong enough. That's why All Might trained under me!"
"And he went senile," Itachi muttered. He groaned as he was slapped, "Who do you think you're calling senile brat!"
"Also, Hisashi was too arrogant at his time here. I have to make sure that you don't have any of that too. The same goes for you Itachi, you're that damn Fugaku's son!"
Itachi and Izuku gulped together as Garp cracked his knuckles, "Maybe I should have a separate training session with you. Training under Aizawa, and having to run from Bakugou, Izuku's instincts immediately made him run as he tried to bolt out the door but Garp was on him in an instant, "THERE'S NO ESCAPE FROM A FIST OF LOVE!" he yelled.
Izuku screamed.
A/N: Sorry for the short chapter but that was just too good of a place to end.
