Chapter 32 - Lovely, Lovely Light
Wrestling with the soft blankets covering him, Link jolted awake with a strained cry of panic and pain.
Another nightmare tormented Link's time of rest. These restless periods of sleep have become more frequent than the Hero would like them to be. Days ago he would wake up before sunrise because of an ominous vision.
But after returning from Zora's Domain, every time he shuts his eyes to take a small nap, a wave of pain and a stream of horrific images floods his unconscious thoughts. Making him dread every time he shuts his eyes for more than a few minutes.
"Sheik…" Link called, his voice dry and rasped.
Blue eyes glanced around the clinic. They found only a few empty beds around him and a few stray revelers passed out on the makeshift mattresses closer to the entrance.
"Sheik…" He tried once more, sitting straighter to glance around with a little more effort.
Look as much as he wanted, Link found not a single strand of blond hair beside his own inside the very large tent.
To say that Link didn't feel slightly hurt after not finding his lover by his side, would be a tale of falsehood. Despite being very independent and trying to play the role of a reliant young adult, he still feels the need for comfort that Sheik's presence gives him after such a horrid nightmare.
Pushing his legs to the side, Link shuffled out from the bed. As his bare feet touched the ground, a sudden blow of cold air chilled the skin of his legs and a little bit of his lower region. Glancing down, he noticed his almost naked state, safe only by the nursing grey tunic covering his body.
Link hated feeling hopeless about anything, he hates, even more, knowing that he was so out of commission that people managed to strip him butt-naked and he couldn't feel a thing.
Tilting his head up, Link heard a loud cheer coming from outside. Apparently, people are still celebrating, and by the volume of their voices, things are still far from cooling down.
Searching for his clothes around his bed, the blond hero managed to find only a spare pair of worn-out white pants resting on a chair. Feeling far from happy about it, he gave in with a sigh and took what little spare clothing was left for him.
After making himself at least presentable enough to walk around without worrying about his private parts popping out from beneath the tunic with a longer step, Link first made his bed and then marched over to the entrance.
Getting close enough to reach the hanging cloth, Link stopped in his tracks after hearing the sound of bubbly giggles coming from outside, paired with the hurried steps of two people.
Stepping back anticipating a few distracted guests, Link folded his arms and waited with a small grin on his lips. For the last month, he found himself at the end of a lot of teasing and harmless jokes from Zelda and Vahn. So, he thinks that is only fair that he should do at least a little bit of teasing on whoever is trying to sneak into the clinic to share a lovely little time.
A fairly small hand grabbed at the inner side of the cloth serving as the door, peeling the fabric to the side to allow for a pair of young men to walk in.
Quickly Link's eyebrows shifted a little.
'This is new.' He thought. 'Isn't everyone around here so stuck up about two guys being together?'
Feeling rather amused, he almost gave out in the idea of teasing. It would probably scare the crap of whoever those two are. But then he thought, why the hell not? Is not like he would be mean about it.
"Is there something you need?" He chirped with a playful voice, and he almost chuckled when the pair jumped into each other's arms.
The duo stared at him with very wide eyes; probably because they recognized him as the Hero of Time, Link's grin grew into a smirk.
'Who said I can't tease?'
"L-Link?" The brunette young man called out his name, his thin pretty lips quivering in a mixture of panic and confusion.
Looking just as taken back as the other one, the brown-haired man stepped forward, putting himself between Link and the other one.
For a moment, Link's amusement only grew. He found it a little funny how he scared the bells out from their ears, but then his eyes shifted back to the darker-haired man. Instantly his expression changed. "Swift?!" His voice came out low and a little on edge; Link almost growled darkly for the first time his life.
"H-Hi…" Swift replied meekly. "I… I didn't know you were here."
A river of thoughts ran across his mind. Why was Swift here? Why was he sneaking away with someone to the clinic? Was he trying to trick another bystander? Did he really go back to the dirty tricks he used to do?
Link took one single step forward. Despite the softness of the cloth-covered floor beneath his feet, the ground practically trembled under his weight.
"W-Wait, wait!" The brown-haired man stepped forward, raising both hands to make Link stop. "Please… don't hurt him. I know what he did to you… the things he used to do. But he changed. Swift is trying to be better."
A pair of intense blue eyes glanced from one man to the other, then fixated on the brunet hiding behind the slightly taller one. "Is this true?" He asked quietly, but with a thin edge to his tone that made Swift jump. "Are you trying to change? No more tricking people?"
Pressing a soft touch on his partner's back, Swift assure the other man with a small look and then stepped forward to face Link properly. "I am… You saved my life that day. Even after… what I did, you gave me another chance. I want to make the most of it."
Link glared down at him, making Swift shrink under his gaze. Then closing his eyes, a small sigh passed by his lips. "That's good… I'm glad you feel that way." Surprising the pair, Link stepped forward and gave a light tap on Swift's shoulder.
Showing the faintest of smiles, the tall blond nodded at him and then marched forward, leaving the other two behind.
"He seems… very nice." He heard the other man comment as the curtains flapped wildly in the wake of Link's exit.
"He is…" Swift added with a sad small voice. "And he almost died because of it."
For the twentieth time this evening, Vahn stared at the group of people dancing around the large bonfire and sighed a long and tired sigh.
It has been too long since Vahn has seen people enjoying themselves without worries. A long time since he has witnessed people having anything worthy of celebrating for. And, despite the giddy feeling of wanting to join them and dance until the sun comes up; Vahn finds himself sitting alone in the grass, almost guilty for feeling this way when his friends are all miserable in different ways.
As a pair of giggling Zora passed by running towards the bonfire, Vahn sighed for the twentieth-first time.
"Hey, cutie." A playful voice sounded from the left, startling Vahn out of his melancholy. "You're Vahn, right?"
Tracing his gaze over the Gerudo woman, Vahn nodded and made a few indistinguishable sounds as he tried and failed to recall her name.
"Name's Novaahli, but please just call me Nova." Giving a friendly grin, Nova dropped on her backside next to Vahn. "Why are you sulking all alone here? Aren't you bored of watching them dance?"
"Uh… not really. I mean, sure I am bored of just sitting here, but it's fun to watch them dance." He glanced at the group a little away from them. "They are fascinating, no? The Zora, never thought they could… bend and twirl like that."
Nova giggled, replying with a short nod. "They do look… exotic. The Zora I know can't dance like that. Stiff as a plank of wood that one." Leaning to the side, she gave Vahn a small nudge on the arm with her shoulder. "I can see in your eyes that you want to go there and dance. So, I have to ask, why aren't you there?"
"Doesn't feel right…" Vahn replied softly. "I mean, we won… but it doesn't feel like a victory. All this cheer and happiness, but all the while my friends are hurting."
"I can… relate to that." Nova's chest deflated. "We lost two of our members today. It hardly feels like we should celebrate. But I don't think Teddy would want us to drown in sadness." Then a sad little smile played on her lips. "If he was here, he would be bouncing and rolling all around that pyre."
The pair of red-haired sat in a quiet companionship for a moment, both watching the celebration around them. That until a rowdier group of people, mostly off-duty soldiers, came running about the place carrying a barrel with them.
Quickly General Val's deep and loud voice boomed in the air, chastising his men for making more ruckus than the people they are supposed to guard.
"Oh my…" Nova's voice came out unconsciously, the slightly agitated tone of her words making Vahn glance at her. "Goodness, that is one treat of a man." She gave a short nod ahead, biting her lips seductively.
Following the line of sight of her green eyes and a sense of horror came about his throat, accompanied by a really bad taste. "No! Not treat of a man, none of that!" His outrage made the Gerudo tilt an eyebrow at him. "That's my father. Please stop looking at him like that. Papa is old already, and my father too, did I mention that?"
She giggled at him, giving him a few pats on his head. "Your Papa is not old. He is a mature man… with impressive physic for his supposed older age."
Vahn cringed, sinking his head against his knees. "Goddesses' grace… please just end me."
Nova gave a light slap on the younger Gerudo's shoulder, her giggles still filling the air. "Okay, okay. Enough about Papa. How about you." She leaned a little closer, almost rubbing her right cheek onto his left one. "See anyone that catches your interest?" She did a little scan around, stopping only when she found a young blond-haired commoner helping people with drinks. "That one looks cute."
Staring at the pretty girl beaming with her friendly smile, Vahn shrugged. "I guess she is… what about it?"
A light frown came to her expression. "Hm… not that one then." She then glanced at a pretty Zora girl sitting on the grass, clapping as her friends danced in front of her. "Look, that girl over there. She is small and cute like you. You two would make a great pair."
His response was only an uninterested little scoff.
"Really? But she is so cute." Nova whined, chewing on her lower lip as her search continued. "Hm… Oh, I see. What about that one." This time there was no subtle nod toward someone, Nova very explicitly pointed at a raven-haired soldier standing in attention with full armor just watching people celebrate.
Growing a little tired of his new companion's game, Vahn sighed one more time but he still followed the direction where she is pointing. "Eh…" His gaze landed on the figure of Captain Briar and his cheek flushed a little bit; his reaction giving all the hints Nova needed.
"So, your type is the stoic and handsome ones." She giggled as Vahn buried his face against his knees again. "Come on, why don't you go there and talk with him? He looks quite bored; a good company would be appreciated."
"I don't doubt Captain Briar would be very polite and pleasant to a request for a small chat." Vahn replied quietly.
"You know him already then?" She beamed at him. "See, half of the hurdle is already over. Today is a day of celebration despite some of it, why don't you try to get a little more than just a small chat out of him?"
Vahn snorted. "Ehn, Nova… I know how I look, but I am still a man."
"So?" She said flatly.
The smaller Gerudo raised his head to frown at her. "At the best outcome he would feel weird about me going onto him, at worse he will give me that… disgusted look people tend to have when they found out that I am… different."
"And you know that how?" She rebuked. "Have you seen him talk about it? About two lads liking each other?" Folding her arms, she kept staring at Vahn until he shook his head. "Then you can't know if that's how he will react."
"Experience tells me that a large majority of people feel that way. And, Goddesses, forget about him utterly rejecting me, if Papa gets a wind of it… poor Captain Briar would lose a limb or worse."
Nova busted out laughing. "Don't be silly, your dad won't hurt one of his buddies like that."
"Oh, you don't know Papa. He can be very weird about his overprotectiveness of me. I even had to run away from home because he wouldn't let me leave to study with my master." He replied with a warning look.
That answer just made Nova laugh even more, getting more than a few glances sent their way. "You are Papa's boy, huh? Don't worry, I will run interference and keep him distracted while you work some magic on the handsome captain."
Vahn squinted his eyes at her. "Why do I feel that all of this is just an overcomplicated plot so you can flirt with my dad?"
"I swear this is not a plot, I swear on my swords-maiden honor." Nova grinned at him, followed by a playful wink.
Watching the tall Gerudo woman intently, Vahn weighted her words and her expression. Then his lips parted on a friendly smile. "So, you say, Nova. So, you say…"
In the midst of their friendly banter, the two of them noticed a silver-haired young man stroll his way to them in an impeccable march. His amber eyes glowed a little brighter when Vahn's gaze locked with his.
"I trust you are having a pleasant evening?" He beckoned with his sweet voice, not failing to give his charming smile as he stepped next to them.
"I believe the evening just got more pleasant." Nova replied with her honied voice, matching the young man's charming smile.
Kneeling beside her, he reached with one hand and waited for her to give her consent. As Nova pressed her hand softly on top of his, the prince grinned and delivered a small kiss. "You may call me Drahken. A pleasure to meet another beautiful jewel of the desert." He then glanced at Vahn and smiled.
"Novaahli. But you may call me Nova." She then shifted her attention to Vahn, who just raised his hand to reply.
"Had the… pleasure of meeting the prince before. We had more than a few encounters over the month."
"A Prince?!" Her eyes widened.
"Guilty." Drahken shrugged. "But for this night I am content with being just Drahken."
Tapping the grass beside her Nova let out a soft flirting giggle. "Well, just Drahken. Care do join us and tell us what you are looking for this night?"
"Answering in earnest, I was doing a small favor for a friend. But she is quite… occupied at the moment. And thus, I came venturing out here, looking to blend around the common people, and maybe find a lovely company for this chilly night."
"Aham… mostly the lovely company I would argue," Vahn said drily, and still got himself a playful chuckle from the man.
"Master Vahn, you know me so well." Drahken breathed out smoothly, giving the scholar one deliberate appraising glance.
"Drahken, help me with a little something would you?" Nova asked and the prince was more than glad to nod at her. "Our friend here has a little crush on that handsome lad over there." She nodded at Briar again. "Tell me, how do you think the captain would react to a little… improper invite from Vahn?"
A small growl escaped Vahn, he wanted to dig a hole for himself and just disappear into it. However, a small part of him felt very curious about Drahken's response, and so he kept looking at the prince with an apprehensive gaze.
"Hm… the man is a little dull, no? So stiff and plain, surely a beautiful gem such as Vahn could find a better match, a proper match..." Drahken replied, firstly appraising the captain's look. When Nova glared a little at him, the prince relented with a sigh. "Ahem… despite his flaws, Captain Briar is a very understanding person. He's one of the few men in the Princess' army that don't scoff at me when they think I'm not looking. I say, however he may or may not feel agreeable to such an invite, the man would find his best manner to deal with the situation."
"Goodness that was a mouthful. Can't you put in small words?" Nova chided with a small sigh, waving one hand at the silver-haired man.
"In small words, the good outweighs the bad." He then shifted on his spot to look directly at Vahn's big emerald eyes. "If he finds himself foolish enough to reject your… beauty; I doubt he would do so in an aggressive manner. And if he has his wits in order; this is one wonderful night to live a small dream."
Despite his nerves, Vahn felt his lips twitching into a relieved smile.
Nova leaned closer to the small man, grinning at him. "He means you two can shag the crap out of each other tonight."
"Nova!" Vahn cried out, his cheeks burning with a furious blush.
Drahken's voice sang aloud in a peal of rich laughter. "A shame we don't have proper drinks in hands. I would love to toast to such an elegant sentence."
Giggling at the man, Nova pulled a few blades of grass and gave half of it to Drahken. As the man eyed her with a curious look, she smiled and bumped her grass-clenching fist onto his. "To Vahn's future amazing sweat-filled shag."
The prince laughed again, giving the girl an approving nod. "To Vahn's lovely night with his intended paramour."
"Can you two p-please stop!" He chirped with rose-tinted cheeks. "People can still hear you talking, you know?!" He then gave a shy glance at Briar, who still stands firmly on his spot completely oblivious about their talk.
"Vahn! Vahn!" Link's mildly exasperated cries intruded into their small gathering, forcing the three of them to glance to the left at the tall blond rushing toward them.
"Hey, Link! Should you be running around the place like that? I saw that burned scars of yours." Vahn quickly got up to his feet, dusting off his baggy pants as Link stopped in front of him.
"I'm fine… mostly." Link said with an unconvincing grin. "Forget about me for a moment. Have you seen Sheik? I tried to look around for him but no one has seen him, not even Impa."
"Sheik…" The small scholar pressed one hand against his chin. He tried to recall if he caught sight of his blond friend throughout the day, but his most recent memory of the Sheikah was when he left him with Link. "Sorry, Link. I don't think I saw him during the afternoon."
Instantly Link's expression grew a little grimmer. "How come no one has seen him the whole day?" He grumbled quietly.
"Well… he is a Sheikah. Hiding in plain sight is kinda his thing." Vahn offered with a small smile.
"Yeah… maybe." Link conceded, but his frown never lessened.
"Little trouble in paradise?" Drahken said in an off-comment, his voice promptly worsening Link's mood. "Please hero, no need to glare." As Link glared turned fiercer the prince chuckled.
"What's up with that stupid grin?" Link gave an accusatory nod at the silver-haired man. "Wanna say something to me?"
Pulling himself up, Drahken casually walked forward to stand face to face with Link. "Why, for a matter of fact I have several things to say… if you would kindly permit me, of course."
A loud snort escaped Link, his right hand flying up in a dismissive wave. "Not in the mood for your royal crappiness."
"Not even if I admit to having seen master Sheikah?" The shift in Link's posture gave quite a bit of satisfaction to Drahken. "Hm… do I notice a change of your… mood?"
"Where is he?" Link stepped forward, almost tackling the thinner man back. "Just spit it out already."
Folding his arms Drahken gave Link an unimpressed shrug. "Manners go a long way, master Hero." He stepped back and waited. But as it got clear that Link would not say anything else to him, the prince sighed. "Seriously, you are so much of a brute. Anyhow, I did see Sheik a little before the start of the evening. I was minding my affairs, taking a short stroll around this magical forest, and imagine my shock when I found him crying with all his heart alone in the woods."
"Crying?!" Vahn asked before Link could. "Why?! I mean, Sheik? Our Sheik, crying? How in the hell would that happen?"
Drahken shrugged, raising both hands in front of him. "Master Sheik didn't take too kindly to my interruption of his isolated moment, so I couldn't ask him about it. However, I heard him saying the name of our great Hero. Ah, he also held a book close to his chest."
"Hm… a book? That is even weirder." Vahn added with a puzzled look on his face.
"Book… Oh! By any chance, was this book really old-looking, with a plain almost colorless cover?" Nova asked, finally getting up to her feet as well.
Pulling from his memory, Drahken glanced downwards and then nodded. "That would be an accurate description of it. Do you know its meaning?"
Holding one of her arms with a free hand, Nova shrunk a little in her stance. "I… I know it." She then glanced at Link and gave him an apologetic look. "That would be Link's diary."
"Diary?!" Drahken replied with a very amused voice. "Didn't take you for a scholar of memories, young sir. I would say the records of your day-to-day should be quite the read."
"Not mine…" Link growled quietly, like an angry wolf.
"Excuse me?" Drahken asked.
"I don't have a diary!" Link shouted at the prince, his hands clenching angrily at his side. He then glanced at Nova, who gave him a small nod. "What in the blazing hells is going on?!" Turning on his heels in a swift motion, Link fixated his gaze on Zelda's living quarters.
"Link," Drahken called out to him, and surprisingly, Link stopped to look back at him. "I'm quite aware that my advice is unwanted on your part, however, I feel compelled to say it anyway."
Clenching his teeth, Link turned back and glared at Drahken. He didn't nod or speak, he just stood there glaring at the man.
Chuckling at the blonde's reaction, Drahken continued. "Listen, hero. No matter how cute of a pair you two may make, your union is doomed from the start. While the opposites may attract one another, you are like water and oil. Your shining light cannot allow him to exist by your side, and your insistence will only hurt his precious heart."
"Don't speak as if you know us." Link warned him with a growl. "You don't know anything about Sheik, and you know NOTHING about me."
"Is it true?" Drahken asked, his expression completely serious. "Then explain this, Link. Why did young Sheik choose to cry by himself, instead of looking for the comfort of your presence?" He took a single step forward, the motion triggering a fierce glint in Link's blue eyes. "Perhaps the one who doesn't understand him is yourself."
Link opened his mouth to shout at Drahken. The intent and glow are very much present in his eyes, but despite stepping forward he stood there with hands trembling at his side without saying a word back. Biting his lips with enough force to make them pale, Link turned around and marched away with a hasty angry stride.
"Why are you like this!" Vahn yelled, shoving Drahken back with both hands. "Sometimes I almost think you are a nice person, but then you behave like this. You are the worse!" Puffing his cheeks in a temper, the small scholar stomped away, leaving a slightly dumbstruck Drahken behind.
"So?" Nova said, her green eyes glaring at the man she was flirting with just a few moments ago. "Why are you an arse to him?"
Drahken chuckled, drifting his gaze to the distancing silhouette of Link. "I… apologize for my behavior. However, there is something about Link… something…" He then glanced at Nova and gave her a lukewarm smile. "I simply cannot leave him alone. His light is too beautiful for me to ignore."
Giving the man one appraising look, Nova shook her head and giggled. "You are weird."
"Mayhap." He conceded with a self-deprecating grin.
"One word of advice?" Nova started. "I've met and got to know one very angry Link before. Trust me, you don't want to meet that side of him."
The prince sighed and then laughed weakly, running one hand over his silvery fair hair. "Scary, is he?"
Then Nova's expression turned stone-cold, her eyes staring at his gaze with intense focus. "You have… no idea..."
Link is seeing all red in front of him, in a figurative way.
He never felt this angry, frustrated, and confused in his life before. As much as he hates that stupid prince, as much as he just wants to punch the man in the face and ignore everything that comes out of his mouth… what he said still makes way too much sense for Link's liking.
He wants to find Sheik, he needs to see his boyfriend right now. To hear what happened, or maybe that Drahken was just lying to spite him.
Holding to this desperate mission in his head, the young hero marched his way to talk with the only person who might know where Sheik is. The only one which whom that stubborn Sheikah will talk about anything with.
Acknowledging the guard in front of the tent with a swift and simple nod, Link pushed the curtains to the princess' quarters open with a quick shove. Wiping the sole of his bare feet on the carpet at the entrance, he walked toward the living room with haste.
As the breath rushed from his lungs with the words forming at the tip of his tongue, Link found no one waiting for him. Glancing to the small table to the side he saw three sets of teacups resting on the small furniture.
His mind working in this blurred state, quickly put two and two together. Link turned to the room at the back of the large royal living quarters. As he walked toward Zelda's bedroom, he heard a few noises coming from inside and noticed a dim light coming from the closed curtains.
Rubbing his cheek with one of his hands, Link took a long breath to still his nerves. And then he pulled the cloth aside without giving much thought to his action.
"Eh… Zel. Can we talk for—SPIRITS!" The blond yelled as soon as his azure eyes landed on the two naked bodies entangled in heat on top of the princess' bed.
"Link!" Zelda cried out, rushing to pull the covers over hers and her companion's bare forms. "What are you doing?! Goodness, give a little warning before walking into someone's bedroom!"
"I'm sorry! Spirits, I'm so sorry." Link cringed and disappeared behind the curtains. "Just… do you know where Sheik is?" He asked with a stutter, his silhouette is still very apparent from behind the purple curtains.
"No, Link! Can we talk later? Please?" Zelda cried, her pale face turning more than a few shades of red after getting caught in the act of passion by someone that is practically her brother.
"Y-yeah, sure." Link's shadow nodded. "Sorry…" He chirped softly and then promptly left. His hurried steps gave more than enough hint about his discomfort with the situation he has no one but himself to blame for.
"G-Goodness… You reckon he saw me?" A small whisper came from the small silver-haired woman hiding her face onto Zelda's bosom in shame.
A soft giggle escaped Zelda, her long ears more than a little red. "I'd say from the point of view he was and the position we were… He saw quite a lot from both of us.
"S-Sweet m-mercy…" Zelda's companion whined softly, burying her face even more onto the princess' chest.
This time Zelda laughed sweetly, running one finger onto the beautiful curls of her lover's long hair. "You are so cute when you blush, Viscilla." She then smirked as her hands went right back to the meticulous ministrations all over the other woman's body.
"Z-Zelda… m-maybe we shouldn't, Ah!" Viscilla arched back, losing her mind in the warmth of Zelda's fingers.
"Huhuh, you are so adorable." Zelda purred. "I could just eat you all up." She then bit her companion's earlobe, taking a small welp from her.
Viscilla moaned softly, trembling a little bit more as Zelda began kissing down her neck. "G-Goodness, what will I ever do with you?" Despite her little cries to stop, she wrapped her arms around Zelda's neck, welcoming every little touch the Princess gave her.
As the two of them continued to make a mess of themselves on the bed, the dim light of candles shone from the small side table, casting a little shadow over the wooden mask resting right next to the candlesticks.
The melodic chirp of birds came with the early morning. A sweet little wake-up music that little by little started to chip onto Briar's sweet dream.
Letting out a lazy moan, he tried to stretch his arms a little bit; sleep still clinging very much to his consciousness. As his left arm shot up above his head, he felt a small weight keeping his right one in place.
His body twitched slightly, a morning lull spreading all over him. Then a little fragment of last night popped into his head.
Sensations he never expected to live when he was just boringly standing watch over the common people. A complete sated feeling that is encompassing him whole.
He felt a small shuffling in the blankets, one lean arm wrapping over his chest.
Feeling his senses getting a little more awake, he glanced down and saw a small body so tightly pressing against him. Still groggy, Briar pulled the blanket up, his lips parting in a small smile at the absolutely beautiful sight in front of him.
The sight triggered memories of a very heated night. His left hand traveled down, pressing softly on those curves, making him remember when he gripped so tightly on that waist as they slid down onto him, making him squirm with so much pleasure.
'Goddesses, it felt divine.' He sighed contently.
Instinctively he leaned down and pressed a light kiss on the top of that fluffy red-haired head. His affection-filled action made the person sleeping next to him moan and giggle.
"Morning…" They said lazily and Briar hummed a quiet reply back.
Closing his eyes again a long sigh escaped Briar, one very content one. It has been too long since he allowed himself to be with someone, and by the grace of everything sacred, it felt so good.
As the allure of sleep threatened to get a hold of him, a jolt of awareness exploded in his head. Instantly his body jerked straight and his eyes shot right open.
"Hm… something wrong?" Vahn whined softly, nesting his head firmly onto Briar's chest.
The man glanced down at the man sleeping so contently onto him and one ice-cold chill ran down his spine; his mouth gaped in terror.
'Gracious… ladies of heaven…' He almost gagged in the shock. 'I'm dead! I'm so dead! General Val is going to castrate me.'
Chapter End.
