Posing with the wax replica of his father, showing his pearly whites as the replica, gave Theodore some amusement, seeing how closely he resembles his late father, causing Lila to ask him, "How old do you think he is, in this?"
Rejoining her side, Theodore turned to look at the wax replica from afar, studying it before giving his guess, "About four-hundred and fifty years."
Of course, people wouldn't know this by looking at the wax replica.
Curious, Lila wondered, "How did he inspire a wax figure in the museum?"
Theodore couldn't tell her, but he would've known if his father had an adventure that resulted in him having a wax replica made of him and propped in a museum.
Locating the plaque nearby, Lila reads it, finding that it's sparse with details, but in general, it sounded like someone took a shine to Theodore's father enough to make a replica of him in the museum.
"Doesn't mean it isn't creepy," Lila denounced the wax replica, despite whoever made it out of thanks.
It wasn't like the replica looked like a nightmare fuel, it looked legitimately like Theodore's father, down to the point that if not for the subtle textures in the skin, nobody would be the wiser.
The details, the fine details, it's uncanny, that any point, it'd move on its own, talking to them, in the same voice.
Thankfully, it didn't, and once Theodore's fully amused, he led Lila way from the sight, continuing their tour around the museum, seeing different replicas of world history.
Nothing from pop culture, Lila expected seeing replicas of popular characters, but as she walked with Theodore, their arms interlocked, there weren't any.
Only world history, which's unto itself unusual, since no one in this part of the universe would've cared to know anything about the Salem Witch Trials (though it took strength for Lila not to punch out the wax figure of Ann Putnam), yet the fact that someone made a replica of Theodore's father, only added to the confusion.
They haven't come across anyone, but they've only been wandering around for what seemed like ten minutes, but with how many exhibits seemed packed into the museum, it didn't feel like ten minutes passed.
So many, Lila relearned the many wars throughout history by walking around with Theodore, until they got somewhere more appealing to them.
Theodore spotted it ahead as he led Lila, when they gotten closer, she sees that it's a replica of Harry Houdini, who once trained Theodore's father in the ways only a magician knew, and in return, learnt from the Time Lord during his time with the magician.
"He helped break a scamming ring," Theodore tells Lila how his father knew the world-famous magician as they stood together while overlooking the replica.
One adventure, the Time Lord came across the magician, wanting to find proof that a group of people were scamming grief-stricken people by tricking them into believing they were contacting the dead.
It didn't seem like an adventure that the Time Lord would've took part of, but the kicker's that there was something to the scam, he'd found that the group scamming the grief-stricken patrons had someone among them that was a mild telepath.
They'd gleam into the minds of the patrons, picking up the details that the group would use to conduct their scams with, luring unsuspecting patrons into believing they really were speaking with the dead.
Theodore's father decided that something should be done about that and helped Houdini and his wife with breaking up the scam ring.
Houdini's wife played the part of a widow, feeding the telepath the incorrect information, Houdini helped the Time Lord trick the group into revealing themselves to the patrons, among them, a powerful lord who grieved for his lost love.
With his skills, Houdini would cause things to move on their own, sounds seemingly coming from nowhere, while Theodore's father worked to trick the group by throwing his voice in their heads, like a boomerang, tricking them into believing they're being haunted by a vengeful ghost.
Spoiled their fun, made fools of themselves, and the lord at the table, seeing himself how he was tricked, used his power to sentence the group for their treachery.
Unfortunately, the telepath learnt very quickly how far they'd take their mild telepathy, when they ended up in a prison with a superstitious warden that wound up hanging the telepath due to the belief, they're a witch.
For shame, that was, but Theodore's father detested the misuse of the gift and the scamming that went on, it was their fault they propositioned themselves as mediums of the afterworld.
Should've saw that coming!
Houdini couldn't be happier to see the scamming ring collapse unto itself and everyone responsible get their comeuppance for their misdeeds, the affected patrons received compensation, and everywhere, the fad of contacting the dead suddenly lost luster, though the fear of repercussions for their actions certainly helped.
A mild adventure, but an adventure to be sure, Theodore's father happy to help dissolve the scam ring, and became close friends of Houdini out of it, that he learnt every trick from the man's playbook, something unheard of from a magician.
Which, he passed onto his children with Houdini's blessing.
"And yet, for someone who claimed to learnt from the best, I still catch your hand in the cookie jar at work," Lila poked a hole in Theodore's epic, proclaiming that while Theodore learnt from his father the tricks of the trade from Houdini, Lila still caught him with ease getting more cookies than he should from the cookie jar.
It's hard not to see a man's hand coming from underneath the piles of cookies, grabbing them, before whisking away to his mouth without anyone knowing, except Lila when she opened the jar.
Crossing his arms defensively, Theodore denied this, but Lila backed her claims, and he's forced to admit his wrongs.
"I still know a thing or two," Theodore had the last word, complete with a mischievous giggle, as he walked away from the display with Lila beside him.
Shaking her head, Lila sighs as she uttered, "Oy, this spaceman!"
Their stroll continues until they come across another exhibit, this one looked different than the others, more so with Theodore's father, it had a man sitting in a rocking chair with a hand underneath his chin.
Didn't look like anyone from history, at least someone that Lila's familiar with, but as they're studying this wax figure, they see the features clearly.
He had a head of curly blonde hair, slightly tighter curls than Theodore's, maybe in his thirties, possibly forties, hard to see from the angle they're standing near, couldn't guess his height and an outfit that made Lila question if she gone colorblind.
Let's say, despite Theodore's elective tastes in his wardrobe, he understood color theory, this man, however, well, it's something.
Brightly colored red coat with a yellow underlying fabric but the fabric around the cuffs cyan blue, the equally bright yellow spotted loose hanging bow around his neck, cream colored dress shirt, and darker red felt pants.
"What century did this man come out of?" Lila's appalled at the state of his clothes.
Seeing this display, Theodore studied the wax figure, baffled as Lila, as he didn't recognize the man from anywhere in history, that he had to find the plaque for this display.
Finding it, Theodore read it, and when he finished, his face contorts as he's confused, Lila asking him what's the matter.
"I think they're mistaken," Theodore walked back to Lila's side with his large hands in his pockets.
Lila asks, "What's the matter?"
Theodore tells her, "That isn't David Bowie!"
Blinking, Lila turned her attention back at the wax figure of the man, with the knowledge that this's supposed to be a display for David Bowie, and looking it over again, Lila shook her head disapprovingly.
David Bowie dresses in odd attire in his music, sure, but nothing from this man's screaming "Ziggy Star" even!
"David Bowie, he is not," Lila concluded the same.
Seems like a grave oversight for something like this, if they gotten every detail of Theodore's father correct, they should've gotten the details for David Bowie.
Shrugging his wide shoulders Theodore proposed, "Maybe they got confused, remember, the man wore different outfits throughout his career. I bet anything they figured no one would look too far into the details."
Well, with the man's elective wardrobe throughout his career, the way radio waves worked, maybe the designer for the wax figure didn't get the whole picture, or understand, and winged it, though the result wasn't what Lila expected for someone like David Bowie.
Didn't even have the eyes right!
"Hm, artistic licenses, Lee, besides, I doubt there's many fans of his this far, that'll know that it isn't him," Theodore turned away from the display with Lila, moving away from it as they retraced where they came from, before deciding on a direction with the idea of seeing if they can find Freddie Mercury among the wax figures.
"Hopefully, it's better than this David Bowie knock-off," Lila denounced the figure as they began walking away.
She jumped a few feet with Theodore grabbing her, pulling her behind him, sharply turning around when they heard a voice abruptly rang out behind them, "Because I'm not David Bowie!"
