The library's abound with patrons coming through, turning in books, checking out other books, using the computers, so forth, Lila's working with diligence as she helped every patron with whatever's required.

By the time lunch came, there's another group of children at the counter, waiting for their turn checking out books while their parents wrangled them.

Once they've been helped, Lila took her lunch, hiding in the break room, relaxing in the chair as she yawned.

She's about to close her eyes for a moment when she heard the door to the break room opened.

"Oh! There you are!" Lila heard a familiar voice.

David.

Raising her brow as she sees the eccentric man walking towards her, wearing a brown suit with a white dress shirt and a red tie, Lila watched as David looked around, confused.

Turning his head towards her, David asks about Theodore.

"It's his day-off," Lila informed him that it was Theodore's day-off, if David wanted him, he'd have to make a Doctor's call if he wants to bring Theodore into his shenanigans.

Pouting, David then goes, "Doesn't seem fair is it, bothering someone on their day-off."

Lila then pointed out, "So's bothering someone on their lunch. Why do you need his help, for?"

Gesturing as he paced around the break room, David responded with, "It's… complicated."

Let's say David got into a bit of a situation and he hoped Theodore could help him, but because he isn't here, it threw a wrench in David's plans.

"Don't tell me, you accidentally gotten married, again?" Lila asked if David infamously gotten himself in a peculiar situation resulting in his marriage to a future monarch and fled before committing the deed, out of embarrassment, loyalty to Jenny, and this thing called 'history.'

Shaking his head, David assured her, "It's not that… again."

He learnt his lesson after the tenth time, he's got a radar, now, the moment it goes off, he'll run off for dear life before someone gets the wrong idea.

Thankfully, Catherine's been helping him stave off the unwanted attention, her penchant for yelling drives the point home.

Don't tell her that, she hits, too, hard!

"Okay, what is it?" Lila asks him.

Sighing, David tells her, "Well, it's hard to explain, that's why I was hoping Theodore was here for me to talk to him."

Rolling her chestnut eyes, Lila pointed out that they're both in the same business, as it were, that she'd probably have some thoughts if David asked her.

"Well, okay, see, a friend asked for my help at a school," David tells Lila about a friend of his that called him, wanting his help with something at Grissom Academy, and the reason David wanted Theodore's help was…

Lila summed with, "You need his help because it's something you didn't study."

Not exactly the words, but it's close enough and David winced as he uttered, "You make it sound like I'm cheating!"

Which, he is, turning to Theodore help him with his shortfall.

David sputtered as he asserted to Lila that he expended his options before coming to this conclusion. Went through the TARDIS, nothing, used the Sonic Screwdriver, nothing, he did everything he could think of, this was his last resort.

"Well, it's not much, but I'd like to think I know enough from my time with him, that I could help," Lila offered her help, since she and Theodore adventured for so long, she's learnt a great number of things, and the occasional melding when she needed to be brought up to speed by Theodore, such as when she learnt the language spoken on Gallifrey.

Not to mention, she can easily reach Theodore any time since they're linked together via telepathy.

David then reminded her that though that may be true, since they haven't truly melded, Lila can't easily reach Theodore when they're in different worlds apart.

Theodore told him that and due to the nature of this melding, David's dealing with having to broach the topic with Jenny, and well, Daleks are easier than having to discuss a life changing experience with one's girlfriend.

"Oh, yeah," Lila bashfully looked away as she realized that it wasn't cut and dry like she thought it was, though since they never left each other's side, it's hard for her to remember the limitations of their telepathic link.

Still, she's learnt enough.

Not to mention, if worse comes to shove, they can just use the TARDIS to reach out to Theodore that way.

"But you'll have to wait until after work," Lila tells him, only for him to gesture as he says it's a pressing matter.

Shaking her head disdainfully, Lila goes, "You gave them a deadline?!"

Only would David be foolish enough to overpromise!

Recoiling, David gestures as he didn't want to disappoint his dear friend, and that he's the Doctor, of course, he's going to do the impossible.

Just… two-three heads are better than one.

Sighing, Lila pointed at him, "You have any idea what Hammond's going to say?"

Lord, Hammond would blow his top if he hears David needing Lila and him having to reorganize so not to overburden the other librarians because of it.

"I'll make it worth your while!" David pleaded with Lila as she sat in her chair, her arms on the table, her chestnut eyes looking up at him.

Exhaling sharply, Lila stood up from her chair, the daunting task thrusted upon her, as she goes to the door, still fifteen minutes on the clock for her break, and she pointedly tells David, "This better be worth risking my hide, Davey!"

Like going to the principal's office, every step was heavy, but Lila and David managed to make their way to Hammond's office, where he was inside, working on paperwork, as he's known doing much of the time.

He's surprised at the sight of David, but more when Lila informed him of why David showed up to the library, by the way of forcing him forward, to speak to Hammond himself, much to his chagrin.

"What possessed you to make a promise you knew you wouldn't be able to keep?" Hammond lambasted David for overpromising, but David insisted that he managed to do the impossible, before, it's just that this time around, he needed help.

Groaning, Hammond inquired what exactly David needed help with and David tells him that the school wanted the Doctor's expertise involving an unusual item that came into their possession.

They couldn't get it open through conventional means, heard about the Doctor, ergo, David's their Doctor, and he needed help understanding it, ergo, him coming here looking for Theodore, but got Lila, instead.

"Is it dangerous?" Hammond asked him, David told him in return that they weren't sure, but that's what he aimed to find out.

Of course, before promising no harm will come to Lila.

Cogs turned in Hammond's head before he exhaled sharply, granting David's pleas for help, allowing Lila to go with him, on the promise that she's returned home, safely, and to come to him directly next time David needed help.

Swatting the air, David assured Hammond, but realized instantly that Hammond wasn't blasé like him, serious-like, more than Theodore, and David lowered his hand quickly seeing the sharp look in Hammond's eyes.

Freed from her job under the stipulation that she'd work extra hours to make up for the disruption, Lila left the office with David, he saved them time, stealing them away back to the TARDIS with a quick trip walking through a bare wall.

"Are you back, yet?" Catherine poked her head out from the TARDIS, visibly annoyed, David promising her that he'd be back once he returned with Theodore.

She stopped when she sees Lila and David informed her there's a change in plans, pointing to Lila.

Annoyed, Catherine responded, "I told you, so!"

Apparently, Catherine suggested that David wouldn't find Theodore at the library, that it was his day-off, but of course David wouldn't take her suggestion, and now, he's working with Lila, instead.

"Well, I couldn't bother the man on his day-off. If I did, I'd never hear the end of it," David shrugs as he led Lila through the doorway as Catherine stood off to the side.

Should David turn around and go and fetch Theodore, despite already informed that it was his day-off, Theodore's going to make sure that David repays the favour, tenfold.

"Yep, sounds about right," Lila commented on David's assessment of the situation.

Maybe getting her help wasn't the best idea, but nothing compared bothering Theodore when he's trying to relax, especially after last week's creature feature with the Swamp Thing.

Okay, maybe it's a stretch calling an alien that became encased in algae and reeds because it stayed in a swamp for an extended period, the Swamp Thing, but after that ordeal, Theodore couldn't wait for a break.

Not that Lila blamed him, they became a buffet for those damn mosquitos during the adventure and had to be doused in some concoction Al made up on the spot that eliminated the bites and the itchy sensation that Al scared them into thinking they've become unwitting parents to parasites, but thankfully not, which his concoction had a side effect of causing them to smell like they walked into a cloud of fragrance sprayed by Macy's employees for the entire night.

Of all things Daleks hated, one would think they would have contingency plans on dealing with mosquitos, but of course, with Daleks, they'd just destroy the entire planet, and call it there, but it did cause discussion on what a Dalek would've done with a family of the suckers inside its metal chassis.

Theodore theorized, it'd rather exterminate itself, just to be sure that the mosquitos didn't survive the initial blast, and four blocks worth of land, just to be thorough.

Regardless, it wasn't a good night for both, and that Theodore didn't want to be thrusted into another situation unless life as they know it depended on his arrival for the day.

"Not one of those, is it?" Lila asked David as he gone over to the console, his hands moving around as he turned dials, pushed buttons, flipped switches.

His chocolate eyes focused, David assured Lila that this wasn't one of those adventures, had it, he would've gone to Theodore at his flat.

The air cooled around them, the TARDIS coming to life, and the TARDIS rematerialized outside Grissom Academy, on a hill overlooking the large school.

Door opening, David stepped out, Lila and Catherine trailing behind him, with Lila closing the door behind them.

"How does an academy get their hands on something needing the Doctor's touch?" Lila asked David the series of events resulting in the school coming into possession of something they didn't fully understand and the knowledge that if they called upon the Doctor, he'd come and help them.

A shrug, David responded, "Good question, let's find out, shall we?"
