Road Trip
August 2022
"Ratchet, are you sure it's okay for me to drive here?" a voice from the Driver's side asked, hands gripping the wheel.
"It'll be fine, Grim. remember what I taught you and you will be fine," he said.
"I think letting pop pop drive is a bad idea dad," Roy said, sitting in the back of Ratchet's rental car. The car was a Cadillac Escalade.
"Why?" Grim asked, turning his head back.
"Something can go wrong, we can get pulled over, oh, oh, and don't forget. You don't have a DANG DRIVER'S LICENSE!" Roy said.
"Yeah, come on bro, that does sound bad." Ratchet said
"Yeah, I agree with dad on this, pop pop. it's not LEGAL!"
"Well don't forget that dad flew ships at fifteen." Roy sad
"That's DIFFERENT! Solana has no laws!" RJ protested.
"Every state or galaxy has LAWS! Dad!" Roy told him from the backseat.
"Well, they didn't when I was growing up." Ratchet said.
"Okay boomer," RJ said.
"I'm forty-two!"
"Oh yeah, you are Gen X, Pop-pop's the boomer."
"He's Gen X too!"
"Guys, Kaden texted me that he's waiting at his house with Alister. Can we leave the house, please?" Roy asked.
They drove to Lennox California to pick them up. Roy opened the window and saw two blonde-haired and brown-haired boys.
"YOOOO! GET IN THE FREAKING CAR YA FILTHY ANIMALS!" RJ screamed. Alister walked to the car, opened the door and the first thing he said was: "I want waffle fries!" the three boys laughed as they went in.
Roy grabbed Alister. "Ey, yo! You grabbed my butt!" he said.
"You can't prove that."
"I saw you–come on bro get in!" Kaden said, fixing his shorts.
They were now on the road. Ratchet had to take over because it was Illegal for Grim to drive on public roads without a driver's license.
"Ratchet, where are we going?" Kaden asked.
"To San Francisco. I have a guest appearance at this year's Comic-con." Ratchet said, putting on music Los Angeles by Blink-182 played on his Apple CarPlay.
After a few minutes of driving, they stopped by a gas station to get gas and snacks. Ratchet grabbed some chips.
"Here's your snacks guys." Ratchet said. Handing them to the boys.
"Thanks, Ratchet," Kaden said. Ratchet smiled and nodded.
"No problem, guys enjoy them. I'm gonna fill up the car."
"Your dad is such a cool guy," Kaden told both brothers.
"Thanks, but he's nothing special," RJ said. Kaden and Alister were both in shock.
"Nothing Special, you're kidding, right? You've forgotten that your dad is the mascot for Insomniac Games. He is a public figure for PlayStation, and he saved two dimensions. And on top of that, he is a world-famous video game star. How is that nothing special? He's SUPER special and on top of the endorsement deals and money he gets is ridiculous!" Alister explained.
"And not to mention that he is the nicest person when it comes to fans. I've never seen that with any celebrity." Kaden also commented.
"I remember we saw Riannaha at the mall once and she didn't even say hi back to me, she shoved me away. All I wanted is to say hi. No big deal. Alister said.
"Wow. We've met Tom Holland before, a nice person. He was a lot of fun to talk to. Even my parents' voice actors, James Arnold Taylor and Jennifer Hale, they were the nicest people ever! They even invited our parents and us to dinner. And their kids came to dinner with us too. They were awesome!" RJ said.
"Dude! No way!" Kaden just said in shock.
Both of them nod
They were back on the road. RJ grabbed his PSP and put in a game.
"What game are you playing?" Alister asked.
"Grand Theft Auto Vice City." The Lombax plays his game.
Five hours of driving later. They made it to the Convention.
"Finally. It felt like I was in that car for nine hours!" Kaden said as they all grabbed their bags and went to the hotel.
They all went inside. Ratchet grabbed a room for him and grim and one room for RJ, Roy Kaden, and Alister.
Ratchet is going to make a guest appearance tomorrow at one PM. so they can have time to explore the city of San Francisco.
Notes: Okay guys, chapter thirty-one is done! I can't believe how much work and dedication I've put in for the last three months making this fic. I love doing this fic so much and I'm gonna be sad that it is going to end soon. Or maybe not. I don't know but I'll have to see.
At least basketball is helping me keep focused and on track with my writing. Bye guys, I'll see you in the next one!
