RWBY: Shadow Company
Chapter 25
"Hey, how are you holding up, kid?" Leon asked her.
Weiss chooses not to speak.
"What's wrong? Did I hurt you?" Leon panics and starts looking around her face.
"She's just scared, Leon," Frost said. "And why are your hands shaking so much?" Frost smirks.
"Hey, I've never done this before. Well, I have but not with a knife, okay? I don't casually bring with me a pair of scissors." Leon shoots back at him.
"You're going real slow there, Leon. You sure you know what you're doing?"
Weiss whimpers.
"Shut up, Frost. That is not helping Weiss at all. Or even for me." He mumbled at the last part.
Frost didn't hear it, But Weiss did.
She can hear the knife slicing through her hair.
"How long is this going to take?" Frost asked. Leon has been at this for the past hour. It didn't like he was going to stop soon.
"Shouldn't be too long now. Just give me a few more minutes. I want to get this just right." Leon replied.
Frost crossed his arms as he continued to watch, "You don't have to be too perfect. A simple cut would have been fine."
"Hey, why don't you try and cut her hair if you're going to stand there and watch me? And kid, stop moving." Leon said as he held the knife.
Weiss had her eyes closed the entire time. She tried her best not to move as Leon guided the knife behind her.
It had been a couple of days since she had woken up in the cave. She has been feeling much better now. Thanks to Frost and Leon.
It was much slower without her aura. At least her back wasn't as sore as before.
They have told her what they know of so far. And she did not like it one bit.
It's no wonder that she's here.
But why did these fanatics want her? Why go through the trouble of getting her back? Whoever they were, Weiss knew that Frost and Leon would fight tooth and nail to bring her back to Atlas.
"And done. Come take a look," Leon said.
Frost came over and looked at her hair. At first, he thought that the haircut wouldn't do much, though, in the first place, he was the one who suggested it.
But now, Weiss looks like an entirely different person. Minus the scar. Good thing he bought that mask for her.
"You can open your eyes now, kid."
She slowly opened her eyes.
"How do I look?" She asked as she ran her hand through her now short hair.
Leon hands her his scroll, "Take a look for yourself."
Weiss grabs the scroll and switches to the camera mode. She lit up when she saw her reflection.
But her face had some bruises on it. They might have come from the struggle.
But they didn't look that bad, at least.
"Do you like it?" Leon asked.
"A bob haircut. I can't say I've seen better. But good job, Leon." Frost nods.
"Well, I wasn't planning on cutting all her hair. I'm not a monster."
"I think it looks okay. Thank you."
Her head felt light. Like nothing is pulling her down. Except for that nullifier on her back. But she would have to keep her hairband somewhere else now. Maybe they will recognize it too.
"Alright, let us arm you up."
Leon gives her a gun.
"Here, the first of many." He said. "This won't be the only one you'll use."
Weiss grabs it. It's a small revolver.
"And, a waist pouch. To keep your things."
Frost gives her a set of armor, "You can't be too safe out there. So wear this to keep you guarded against those who wish to harm you."
She got a chest plate, a spaulder, greaves, and a pair of vambrace. They were shining, almost like silver.
"And lastly, your sword- uh dagger. I guess. I've looked at your weapon, and it uses some pretty custom stuff. So what you have is limited. So make it count. For now, you can learn to swing and stab with it. I've sharpened it and everything." Leon said. He sounded very proud of himself.
Weiss looks down at her weapon.
Myrtenaster's state was just like her.
Running on limited fumes and barely holding together.
"It's the thought that counts, Weiss," Frost said.
"I-I don't know what to say. Thank you?" Weiss was speechless.
Leon shakes his head, "No need to thank us, kid. Now, put it on."
Weiss nods, "But can you turn around, please?"
"What?"
"Just do as she asks, Leon," Frost said as he turned around.
"Okay."
With both their backs facing Weiss, she begins to put on the armor. It took her a while, "You can look now." She said.
They turned around and looked at Weiss.
Weiss avoids their gaze.
"I think it fits well. You look more prepared. You look like a huntress." Said Frost. It made her feel a little confident.
"So, how are they? I hope they fit nicely on you. We had to change it up a little." Leon asked.
"They feel a little heavy." She said.
Frost shrugs his shoulders, "It is, but it will protect you."
Weiss nods.
Leon casually tosses the rest of her hair into the fire.
Weiss felt her heart stop when she saw it.
"W-why?" She asked.
"No evidence that we were here. You can't trace ash." Leon said.
"Unless they can," Frost added.
"Can they?"
"No, Leon. I'm just saying."
Weiss stares at the fire.
Leon sighs, "I'm sorry that I had to do that. But like I said, better for all that no one knows who you are. The whole world knows your face."
"We need you to be strong, Weiss. It's hard, but we are here to help you." He said. Frost comforts her by placing his hand on her shoulder, but Weiss quickly steps away from him.
"Sorry." He said.
Leon puts out the fire.
"Time to move. We've stayed here long enough. Those fanatics will find this spot soon."
"Where are we going?" Weiss asked.
"We'll be passing through a town. It's the only way we can cut through the fanatics. They won't expect us there." Said Leon.
"I've also called in some extra help for us. Put on your mask and cloak."
Weiss looked confused, "I thought it would be just us. You said so yourself."
"Yes, I did say that. But Leon and I can't face a hundred of them at once. They will send more after you. And they won't stop until-"
"Until they catch me back. I know." Weiss finishes.
Frost nods.
It was time to get Weiss home. The longer she stays out here would scream trouble.
Frost was the first to leave, followed by Weiss.
Leon stops not before setting up one more trap in the cave. In case they think of checking here too.
"Leon, wrap up what you can, and let's go," Frost spoke through his radio.
"Roger. Coming to you guys."
Weiss can see Leon running out of the cave, "So, we ready? Kid?"
Weiss nods again. She didn't feel like talking much today.
"I'll take point. Leon, you cover the rear. Let's go our daylight's burning." Frost said.
Leon salutes and positions himself behind Weiss.
"The walk will be tiring. Just a fair warning, kid."
Here she goes, back in the game. Who knows what is coming next?
Pulling over her hood, Weiss couldn't help but let out a tear under her mask. She wraps her arms around her tightly.
She had never felt this scared in her life.
/-/
"Pietro, is she ready?" Ironwood asked.
"Yes, James." Said Pietro.
"Good, bring her to Schnee manor. It is time."
A/N: Here we go. Weiss is on the move! :D
Finally, after a long recovery. But it is not all good yet. I'm sure Weiss can overcome it. Wonder what's up with that last part. Hmm.
Frost and Leon are such good parents/guardians. Wonder how things are going with the rest? The silver armor was from the Mandalorian. The silver is because Frost and Leon scrapped the yellow paint off. Her haircut is based on fan art and edits I've seen.
The next chapter might be on Blake or Jaune. Dang, I haven't done Ares in a while. I'll see where it goes. Enjoy the chapter.
Thanks for reading.
