In Tokyo, quiet and peace roamed around the city and specifically around a certain detective agency.''Shinichi!'' A familiar feminine voice was heard. A pretty brunette, with hazel eyes and a long hair that went down to touch her lower back. ''Sorry, Sorry, Ran. I just didn't find any time to call you after my last case.'' Apologized none other than the eastern detective of Japan. He put his hands clapped as a sign for forgiveness. The girl was a bit mad at her childhood friend's behavior even though she didn't expect anything new from him. He was always absorbed into his cases that he mostly forget about the real world surrounding him. She sighed and calmness returned on her face. ''You owe me then. Come on, I'm hungry. Let's go and eat something. It's your treat as replacement because you forget our appointment at the concert.'' She walked to the door and turned around to face him as she didn't feel him tagging along. ''What?'' She questioned when she saw the weird look on his face that he gave her. ''Were you embarrassed to say it was a date?'' Shyly but boldly, Shinichi responded by another question. His cheeks were tainted with a small hint of blush. However, it was nothing compared to how much red Ran's whole face became. ''Why would I be?! Nonsense! I am hungry and I'll leave you if you don't move this instant!'' She yelled as she already left past the door, leaving a furious redded Shinichi who had to run to catch up to her. He had a small smile at her response. She might look that unbothered to call it a date. But, he knew better that she was the shyest when it came to their relationship.Somewhere else, two other friends were walking and they seemed like they were searching for someone or some place.''Do we really have to go to that person?'' A dark-skinned boy complained because of the situation that they were in. ''If you want me to be honest, then yes. Mom, strictly told us to find whoever this Takami person no matter what.'' Told him the girl with a ponytail, even though she knew her answer only annoyed him more.''Why do we have to go and ask a private detective about him. I am a detective too. No actually a better one.'' Kazuha rolled her eyes because of her friend's childish behavior. ''Tell yourself what makes you sleep better at night.'' She commented nonchalantly. He sent her one of their Aho's usual routine which of course turned into a verbal fight that was almost going to make Kazuha punch him in the face if he didn't say something that saved his skin and got her attention. ''Isn't that the address?'' Both of them checked again looking at Kazuha's phone that was guiding them for the previous half an hour that just passed. ''Yes, I'm surprised you helped for once.'' The girl let of a sarcastic phrase that only irritated the boy more making him protest. ''Look who's talking! It was your fault that we are here in this mess in the first place.'' She was going to shoot back something else but was stopped as he knocked on the door. Both of them waited, but it seemed like no one was inside. Heiji knocked again and again more furious after the last three fruitless tries. ''Stop it, Heiji! Maybe no one is inside. You're going to break the door.''Tried to calm him down his companion. ''Who the hell is that idiot who leaves his detective agency without caring if a case comes up while he's away?'' He stopped after he said those words, convinced that they came all this way for nothing. Another voice interrupted the two of them from behind. ''Well excuse me for being an idiot, you're kind of right.'' The tone of the voice holder was a bit too happy to be offended which was quite less awkward for the pair that came from Osaka. It was Kudo Shinichi and Mori Ran who had her arm around his left. It needed only one second for everyone to notice as she let go of him when she realised that Shinichi had visitors, more likely, clients. ''Hello, I'm Toyama Kazuha and this is Hattori Heiji, please ignore him from now on. It's nice to meet you kudo Shinichi and Mori Ran.'' The named girl offered a hand for a handshake from each one of the new faces to her. Ran was surprised by being recognized. If they are really clients seeking for Shinichi's help, why do they know my name? The thought wandered inside her mind before a new strange feeling crawled inside her guts. ''Hey! Kazuha! Don't go introducing me with your stupid comments!'' Heiji shouted at her a bit playfully as she didn't really care about his reaction, no matter how much he overreacted. The girl shook hands with the couple before the boy did the same out of forced politeness from her. ''Sorry to keep you waiting again.'' Apologized Shinichi as he opened the door for everyone to walk into his newly built agency. He just came from a lunch with his girlfriend and was now faced with a funny pair clearly here because of a case. Today was a good day to him. He also knew who damn Hattori Heiji was well enough, which only made him more hyped for whatever that brought him here. It had to be a big complicated case. Maybe murder and the murderer came all the way from Osaka to Tokyo. Or, maybe a serial killer would be much more interesting. Anyways which one of them sounded better in his mind than what was really going to happen. Ran served the two guests each a cup of coffee and they both accepted politely before she sat besides her boyfriend on a couch facing the other two who were also on another one. ''The name Hattori Heiji seems quite familiar, don't you think Shinichi?'' Opened a topic the girl with Hazel eyes. He nodded as he answered. ''Of course. In the end, he is what the media would compare him to being my rival. The detective of the west.'' For the first time, a smirk appeared on the boy with the Sax hat before it turned to yelling confidenetly. ''I'm not just your rival, Kudo. I'm better than you. I'm the best detective in all of Japan.'' Kazuha sighed as he finished his declaration with such pride in his eyes and tone. ''I told you just ignore him.'' she repeated her words but this time with a lower voice, yet still loud enough for everyone to hear her. Ran chuckled as she found it quite amusing. However, Shinichi just went along asking him. ''So, What brought the best detective in all of Japan to me who is no match to him?'' As the two from Osaka heard the question that they were going to be asked no matter what, they both sent each other serious looks before Kazuha took from her bag a few papers and put them on the table between the two couches. ''This is a photo of a missing person that we know he has to be somewhere in Tokyo.'' Shinichi took the photo to take a closer look he and Ran. ''His name is Takami Robert, half japenese half British who lives mainly in Osaka.'' Identified him the green-eyed girl with the information that she learnt by heart. ''He is the same age as us, which makes him also 17 and a minor. He went missing.'' She continued explaining and saw as Shinichi took by his other hand another paper that had everything personal related to him. The detective from the East recognized the paper to be taken from a police station which quite was the only thing that got his interest till now. ''Why do you think he is missing in Tokyo, if he lives in Osaka?'' Spoke Ran and she actually hit an important point. Heiji answered. ''Takami is our classmate. One night he ran away, and didn't come to school which made some of our class worried about him. It was when Kazuha with two of her friends went to visit him, that they found police cars there. And they knew that he went missing.'' This time Shinichi asked curious. ''And why do the police think that he was missing in Tokyo?'' ''Because of a train ticket. The police found that he bought a train ticket to Tokyo. Takami has no one else in Osaka except his Mom. And according to the informations in the papers you have now, he has an uncle in Tokyo, we don't have an exact location unfortunately. So our guess for now is that Takami went to his uncle.'' Kazuha explained professionally and she was proud of herself for her confidence as she talked. She just hoped that Heiji wouldn't screw this up. ''I don't know why but I feel like there's a but.'' Cut her off Shinichi. ''However!'' A grin enlightened Heiji's face feeling better as he didn't use but just to make his so called rival get annoyed or irritated. ''Takami hasn't been on speaking terms with his uncle for so many years.'' ''for 10 years.'' Specified Kazuha the detail Heiji missed. ''This is really quite a sad case. Don't you think Shinichi?'' We heard Ran almost with a tissue to wipe a small tear that almost happened to be in her left eye. ''Mmmm, something like that.'' He gave a hesitant answer filled with doubt. ''So, why come to a private detective? Isn't this the police's job? Besides why were you sent instead of officers from Osaka?'' Sharp of him to ask such questions, both the teenagers from Osaka thought.
''The police in Osaka is investigating in why he ran away, thinking that there might be a possibility that he didn't run away on his own. Maybe he was kidnapped.'' Declared the girl. ''And this case is classified for a reason we can't really tell you.'' Surprisingly, Heiji continued. ''So, What do you think I can do?'' Asked Shinichi. And it was an odd question, he never asked such a question to everyone else. This case as much as it sounded simple and deprived of the mystery he lives, Shinichi still seemed interested and curious in something. ''We're not going to just give you this case. We're also going to accompany you with every step, because I'm also a detective!'' Looked at him Shinichi with quite strict eyes. I don't get it. Something is clearly missing and odd here. Was the eastern detective's only conclusion. ''I hope you are not offended. But the truth is, as high as Heiji's intellectual goes, we need someone who is from Tokyo and willing to help us. We didn't find anyone else better than the detective of the East. Both of you are similar in the end, when it comes to solving cases.'' Intervened Kazuha.
''That's why, we came seeking for your help, because you're in Tokyo and a known private detective.'' Kazuha finally declared. ''So, if Mr. Takami isn't in his uncle's house, then he might be anywhere in Tokyo?'' Concluded Ran and Kazuha nodded. ''Okay, I'll take this case. And I'd like to have these papers if it's alright.'' ''It's alright, we have a copy, thanks.'' Thanked Kazuha the eastern detective and his friend. Shinichi told them he needed tonight to start thinking about the case and the two clients accepted. Kazuha stood up, clearly as a sign to leave after she cucceeded in having Shinichi to accept the case. However, Heiji didn't budge from his position. The girl with ponytail shot him hard glares knowing that he was going to do something stupid. ''Oi, Kudo, How many cases have you solved?'' Was a question that made Shinichi smile. Kazuha rolled her eyes at the obsession of the western detective about cases. ''Mmmm, I've never kept track of the count.'' Heiji narrowed his eyes, clearly suspicious about the other detective's answer. ''Heiji stop it, we have to go and search for a hotel.'' She grabbed his arm and started dragging him outside. ''Both of you can spend in my house for how long as you need to.'' Offered Shinichi kindly. Heiji's eyes lightened brightly at the thought that he could stay and have conversations with him about their difficult cases. Yet, as soon as he was going to accept, his childhood friend refused politely. ''Thanks, but we don't like to be a burden on you.'' He insisted, but she also insisted. As much as Heiji wanted to convince Kazuha to accept, he knew full well she was right. He also refused the offer but promised that he would come the next day. Heiji and Shinichi exchanged numbers and Kazuha also gave her number to him in case he wouldn't be able to reach him. As the boys were talking together, Ran approached Kazuha with sweetness in her voice as she requested. ''Kazuha I'd like you to keep my number with you, in case something happens.'' She put on her palm a small piece of paper. The other one was confused at her words. ''In case what happens?'' She was only met with a smile from her. ''Anything.'' Kazuha nodded still hesitant. The Osakan pair exited the place and started walking towards the direction of a hotel that they decided to stay in for the time being.
''You don't think he got suspicious, do you?'' Asked Kazuha Heiji with interest in his answer. ''If he didn't, then the detective of the East is nothing but a bluff.'' Affirmed the boy turning his hat with determination and seriousness on his face. Kazuha sent him worried looks at his back.
''What's wrong Shinichi?'' Heard the detective Ran's voice. He was deep in his thoughts that she called him three times.
''It's nothing, Ran. But, I can't put a finger on why these two's visit isn't a good sign.'' Ran smiled as she understood what he meant. She put her hands around his neck from behind and he put his hand on hers. ''It's alright everything, is going to be just fine Shinichi.'' She whispered in his ear with a soft tone that made his heart beat faster as he smelled her perfume so close to him. He tilted his head to her direction to get a view of his beloved's face. ''Really? How's that?'' He whispered too, going by the same pace as her. She giggled softly and it made him want for her to always giggle that way only to him. ''Because, I'm with you'' Their lips were millimetres apart. It only took how passionate Ran's tone was for Shinichi to put his other hand on the back of her head to bring her closer. ''That's right'' And he finished it by a sweet kiss on her lips.
