I don't own Naruto

Chapter 2: A Week with My Niisan

Naruto's day started off pretty normal. He woke up early, put on his clothes, and went down to the kitchen. When he got there he saw his mom in her Jounin uniform. He wondered why and just put it off as having official business later. He grabbed leftover rice and shrimp and began to eat his breakfast. He was still getting used to the new house and decided that it would be best to explore the compound today. He looked at his mom who was reading a scroll. This really bothered him. He didn't like to be kept out of things that interested him. And not knowing what his mom was reading REALLY interested him.

"Ano, Kasan, what is that?" he asked pointing to the scroll in her hand.

Kushina looked at the scroll and frowned, "Oh, this? This is uh, a mission scroll for a B-rank. There's not much else I can tell you," she said.

Naruto's face fell, he hated it when his mom had to leave. He hated it when he couldn't even see her. She was the only one who smiled at him, except for a select few. Whenever she wasn't home, he felt unsafe. He knew there were people watching over him, ANBU he believes, but that's from afar. Nobody truly tries to interact with him. In a good way at least. Everytime his mom is gone for more than a week, there are at least 3 attempts on his life. The ANBU watching him, a silver haired one with a dog mask, is the one that helps him, usually stabbing them with a cool lightning thing. But after that he usually takes the body somewhere else super fast. One thing Naruto does recognize however, is that whenever the dog-masked ANBU looks at him, he can see tears in the man's eyes. He didn't know why, but it made him feel good. Maybe one day he could talk with him.

"How long will you be gone?" the young boy finally asked.

Kushina looked apologetically at her son, "A week at most," she said, "But I'll be back in time for the festival," she added, trying to get her son's hopes up.

Naruto just nodded in acceptance.

"Also, while I'm gone, someone will be watching you at the house, and when you go out," she added.

"I'm fine," said Naruto.

Kushina sighed, "Look, I know it's hard for you to accept people, but you know this boy, and I trust him with Konoha's protection and so does the Hokage," she explained.

The fact that Naruto knew the person watching over him was someone he knew peaked his interest the tiniest bit, "Wh-Who is it?" he asked.

Just then a lard knock rang throughout the compound. Kushina smiled at Naruto, "That's him now."

Naruto stayed at his seat while his mom went up to the gate. He watched his mom open the doors to the balcony and walk outside. He saw her stride to the gate, apply her blood and open up the gate.

"Did I get here too early, Kushina-san?" asked the boy.

"No, no. In fact I was just about to leave," replied Kushina.

"Alright," said the boy.

As the two walked into the dining room, Naruto's eyes widened.

"Sh-Shisui-n-niisan?" he asked the twelve-year-old jounin, "Are y-you th-the one w-watching o-over me?"

Shisui smiled at the redhead, "You bet I am! We're gonna have a lot of fun!" he said, "Urm, Kushina-san, does he train?" Shisui asked the mother after realizing he didn't know what to do.

Kushina giggled at the ex-Uchiha, "No, we haven't started training yet, we usually spend our days outside, he's also super excited about the Kyuubi festival, so he's been wanting to go all throughout Konoha sight-seeing since he's never really comfortable, but since it's a special year, he's changed," she said hitting her son upside the head while smiling sweetly making Shisui sweat drop

Shisui waved goodbye to Kushina as she left the compound. He turned to walk back to the house, but nearly tripped when he began to walk. He looked down and saw the cutest thing he had ever seen in his life. Naruto had his arms and legs wrapped around his legs tightly and was looking up with his big, round, purple eyes. Shisui smirked at the redhead.

"There something you want?" he asked.

Naruto looked at him with his puppy-eyes no jutsu and in the cutest voice he could muster he asked, "C-could w-we maybe g s-sight s-seeing?"

Shisui pondered for a minute, teasing the boy. Once he was done he looked back down and nodded.

Naruto smiled brightly. He jumped off Shisui's leg and ran back inside. Shisui watched as he came back out with his shoes on. Shisui turned around and crouched down, gesturing for Naruto to get on his back. The red haired Namikaze smiled and hopped on Shisui.

"Hold on," said Shisui with a confident smirk.

Before Naruto could say anything, he felt a blast of wind go past him and he saw he was in a market street. His eyes widened and his face brightened.

"WOW! That was amazing! Can you teach me?!" he asked Shisui excitedly. Shisui just chuckled at Naruto's reaction. He then looked to the boy who was on his back.

"Maybe someday, it's pretty advanced," he said. Naruto deflated but realizing he had the whole day, no week to explore Konoha before his mom got home. He pushed Shisui's shoulder and the older kid started moving.

Naruto stared at all the stands and decorations being set up. He couldn't wait for the festival. Just seeing everyone set up shops and restaurants got him excited. Meanwhile Shisui was looking at his little brother looking every way imaginable with a happy smile on his face, oblivious to the glares he was getting sent. Shisui turned to look forward once again, and already seeing the glares, he scowled. He closed his eyes, sending chakra to his charcoal orbs. He opened his eyes again and the black was replaced by red, with three black tomoes surrounding his pupil. The people who were glaring flinched at the Uchiha's dojutsu but did not let up. Shisui had had enough. He released his killing intent, making everybody freeze and stop glaring. Shisui kept walking, unaware of who was following him.

2 hours later…

Shisui and Naruto were still walking around Konoha, looking at the different shops and stands. Shisui looked back at Naruto who now had a hungry look on his face from all the food stands.

"Hungry?" asked Shisui.

Naruto was about to respond when his stomach growled making him blush. Shisui just smiled at Naruto and chuckled.

"What do you want to eat?" he asked, "My treat."

Naruto's face brightened and Shisui suddenly got the feeling that he was going to regret this.

"RAMEN!" the Uzumaki shouted, lifting his arms in the air, almost falling off Shisui's back. Shisui laughed at the expense of his little brother. Naruto puffed up his cheeks at Shisui, but that only made him chuckle.

"Alright. Ramen here we come! Hold on!" Shisui yelled as he shunshined.

When Naruto opened his eyes he saw that they were in front of a ramen stand called Ichiraku Ramen. He could smell the cooking just from out here making him excited. As Shisui pushed the curtains aside they were met with an old man and a girl about Shisui's age.

"Hey, Teuchi-san! You got a new customer!" called Shisui.

The old man named Teuchi looked up from his pot and smiled at the two. At first Naruto thought he would scream at him but was pleasantly surprised when he was greeted kindly. He smiled at the old man.

"Hey, Ayame-chan," Shisui said smiling at the girl. The girl looked at Shisui and smiled at him with a small blush on her face, "Hello, Shisui-kun."

She then looked at Naruto and her eyes widened, "KAWAI! He's so cute! Who is he!" she yelled rushing at him, enveloping the Uzumaki in a hug and rubbing her cheek and his against each other. When she let go they all saw a nervous Naruto shifting with a small blush, "U-Uzumaki N-Naruto," he said.

The two Ichirakus smiled at Naruto.

"So you're Kushina-chan's boy?" asked Teuchi.

"Y-you know m-my mom?" Naruto asked.

Ayame giggled, "Do we know her? She comes here everyday! My question is why she hasn't brought him," Ayame explained.

"Let's not dwell on that, after all she usually comes after missions. What would you two like to eat?" Teuchi asked.

"One Miso please," requested Shisui.

"O-one M-miso and o-one Sh-shrimp p-please," said Naruto.

Teuchi nodded and wrote down the order, "they'll be out shortly," he said walking to his kitchen.

At that instant an ANBU showed up next to Shisui. Shisui turned his head and nodded to the ANBU.

"Naruto, stay here. I need to talk to Hokage-sama. It'll take no more than 10 minutes, I promise," he said. Naruto looked at Shisui, "U-uhm, o-okay," he replied hesitantly.

Shisui smiled at the Uzumaki and shunshined away with the ANBU making the already cute boy puff his cheeks in jealousy making Ayame squeal.

On a shop roof in front of Ichiraku's, two shinobi were glaring down at Naruto.

"You sure it's him?" asked the first ninja.

"Yeah, who else would it be. They were the greatest tag team during the 3rd war. It wouldn't be any other guy's kid," said the second.

The two nin hopped off the roof, landing in the street. Bystander's eyes widened in fear, recognizing the symbol of Iwa on their forehead protectors. The first shinobi pushed aside the flap and glared down at Naruto.

Naruto didn't look at the man. He felt the man's glare burning right through them. He started to shake and tear up. He wanted his Kasan. He wanted his niisan.

The nin held up his hand and in a chopping motion, knocked out Naruto.

The two left the ramen shop and hopped onto the roofs. They had the Uzumaki over their shoulder and were running towards the training grounds. They quickly got out of the shopping district of Konoha and were soon running through the red light district. They ran over the run-down apartments and the brothels. Quickly making their way to the training ground, the ninja carrying Naruto felt him stir. The Iwa nin scowled and pinned Naruto to a post, shocking the young boy awake. The 5-year-old was fearing for his life, and seeing nobody around to help him didn't calm him down. He looked at the ninja who pulled a bladed tonfa from his belt. He was grinning madly and held the tonfa up to Naruto's face.

"Sorry not sorry, gaki. But we don't want you seeing where we are going," said the Iwa nin, quickly slashing just to the left of Naruto's nose to just under his left temple.

Naruto stayed there in shock for several moments. It was then he felt the blood roll down his cheek and he regained himself.

"AAAAAAAAAAKKH!" he screeched, making the Iwa nin drop his tonfa and Naruto. Naruto put his hand over where his left eye was. He backed up against the post watching the Iwa nin pick up his tonfa again and lower it towards his left eye. It was then the two felt a giant killing intent directed at them. The Iwa nin turned around only to see his partner on the ground with a tanto in his back and Shisui staring directly at him. His eyes widened in fear at the eyes he saw. They were red in color and instead of the three tomoes of the sharingan, there were four-pointed shurikens in each eye. The strange sharingan began to spin and green chakra began to flame around Shisui. It grew bigger until Shisui was enveloped in the upper part of a transparent green shogun. The shogun-like entity had a bladed gauntlet on its forearms and was carrying a swirling spear. It had a red tomoe in the middle of its open chest that had raging green flames surrounding the tomoe.

"HOW DARE YOU HURT MY LITTLE BROTHER!" Shisui yelled in a fit of rage, the strange being lifting its spear and hitting aside the Iwa nin. The shinobi flew 50 meters, and crashed into a tree nearly unconscious. He lifted his head to see Shisui and the being stalking towards him and he started to shake in fear.

Shisui's death stared at the man, releasing so much killer intent it paralyzed him.

"Next time, THINK TWICE BEFORE TAKING MY FAMILY!" Shisui screamed, plunging the spear straight through the man's body, obliterating him. The being dissolved and a panting Shisui looked towards Naruto and his eyes widened in terror. Naruto was unconscious and the entirety of the left side of his face was covered in blood. Shisui raced towards Naruto grabbing him and teleporting away.

Shisui arrived in the hospital with Naruto in his arms looking frantic.

"MEDIC!" he yelled.

One of the smarter med-nin who knew Naruto wasn't a demon ran out with a stretcher. Shisui quickly put Naruto on the stretcher and went with the medic.

"What happened?!" she asked.

"Iwa, most likely trying to get some of the Uzumaki genes!" he said, covering up the real reason behind their attack.

The medic and Shisui went into a surgery room and placed him on the bed. Shisui looked at Naruto when his vision began to get foggy. Soon enough he found himself falling to the floor and blacking out.

Shisui slowly opened his eyes, and realized he was laying down on a bench in one of the hallways of the hospital. He quickly shut up and opened the surgery doors. Not seeing Naruto in it, he rushed to the front desk.

"UZUMAKI NARUTO! WHAT ROOM?!" he yelled at the med-nin.

"U-uhm, r-room 305," she responded.

Shisui ran to the room, and saw Naruto unconscious. He saw the left side of his face bandaged up. He heard a knock at the door and turned around to see the same nurse from earlier.

"I-is he gonna be okay?" he asked in a choked voice.

The nurse looked down at Shisui with a soft smile, "He'll live, but his left eye is gone. There was no way to save it," she said to him.

Shisui looked at the ground and clenched his fists. He closed his eyes, tearing up. The Uchiha's tears rolled down his cheeks and fell onto the hospital floor.

"I was supposed to protect him. The day hasn't even finished yet and he lost his eye!" exclaimed Shisui, "WHY CAN'T I PROTECT ANYONE!" he screamed in agony.

The med-nin looked sympathetically at the 12-year-old. She wanted to say something, but in this instance couldn't think of anything to say, so she rubbed the crying boy's back, and eventually left the room so he could be by himself.

1 hour later…

Shisui stared at the body of his little brother. His cheeks were stained with tear marks and was thinking heavily on what to do next.

'Kuso! What the hell do I do!' he thought, 'The best I can think of is training! But he hasn't even started!'

Shisui remembered what had happened. His brother was defenseless. He couldn't protect himself. Shisui had made up his mind on what he was going to do.

2 days later…

Naruto woke up with his whole body being sore. He opened his right eye only to see white. He tried to open his left but it wouldn't budge. He lifted his left hand and felt bandages for where his left eye should've been. Oh, right. Those guys had stabbed his left eye. He propped himself up and looked to his left when he felt pressure. He saw a sleeping Shisui with only his head on the bed. He was drooling, soaking the sheets. He smiled at this and then began to laugh. Shisui shot up with his tanto in hand only to see a laughing Naruto.

"Eh? Na'uto? Wha' aw' you laughin' a' thi' ea'ly in th' mo'nin'?" he asked groggily. He then looked down on the sheets and saw the drool. He looked back at Naruto and sweat dropped. This got him riled up?

"Naruto," Shisui said with a sudden seriousness.

Naruto stopped laughing and looked at his brother, "Yeah?" he asked, confused at the seriousness.

"Rest up. Tomorrow we start your training," Shisui said, getting up and leaving the room.

Naruto stayed there for several minutes, contemplating what Shisui had told him. When it finally hit him he jumped on top of his bed and started dancing, "WOOHOO! I'M GONNA BECOME A NINJA!"

2 days later…

Naruto was standing in the middle of his dojo with Shisui in front of him. He had four different scrolls in his arms, and a wooden sword and wooden bo staff on top of the scrolls. Naruto looked at the different scrolls and the sword with stars in his eyes.

"Sh-Shisui-nii? Am I g-gonna be learning all that?" asked the Uzumaki.

Shisui looked down at his little brother and nodded, "We are going to be figuring out your strengths and weaknesses. I need to know what you will be starting off with and what will be thrown aside," he explained.

"Why can't I learn everything?" Naruto pouted.

Shisui chuckled at Naruto's antics.

"Think of it this way. Some people are good at some things, others are good at other things. To become the best shinobi you possibly can, you want to focus on your strengths, as your weaknesses will only hold you down," explained the Uchiha.

Naruto looked at his big brother in admiration, "I-I get it now," he said.

"Alright. Now, there are different Uzumaki scrolls of taijutsu, ninjutsu and fuinjutsu, kenjutsu, and less known, bojutsu. These are the best the Uzumaki clan has to offer. There are different taijutsu styles, and you get to choose the one that fits you best. The ninjutsu not only has to do with different chakra natures, but also rare bloodlines in the Uzumaki clan. It's okay if you can't use them, in fact, I hope you can become great without using bloodlines. Today, bloodlines are viewed as powers of the gods. It would be nice to humble some people," said Shisui.

"Hai!" exclaimed Naruto.

Shisui smirked at the redhead.

"Alright! Let's get started!"
