Looking out his window, seeing the mobilization of UNIT soldiers, determined to fight back against the encroaching Daleks, while waiting for reinforcements by the Cybermen, the thought of this happening never crossed his mind, but here he was, watching it from his window, and all he was doing's playing his violin.
Tomorrow, he'll stop the man who killed their best friend and almost killed his love.
Should've been no different than stopping previous madmen, but this one wasn't anything like what he and Lila fought before, someone far worse, someone capable of destroying everything they held dear, and he didn't need to go anywhere to do it.
Al made his apology known, for keeping everything from him, but Theodore knew it wasn't his fault, it was his uncle, whom he used to adore, but now uncertain how he felt.
All he had to do was take Theodore aside, tell him the truth, even if the events still played out, it would've softened the blow that his uncle thought he wasn't capable of handling himself.
Hammond's working to shelter his students and their families, Dorothy's been using her cherry bombs to destroy Daleks in between using different makeshift weapons, using Hammond's teachings to ensure they didn't stray too close where Hammond and the others hid.
Lila's father worked to stop Daleks in his area, using the phaser he took from Theodore to do it. Daphne and their sons escaped to a safer place with Ben's family and Theodore's ferrets.
Ben and Odette worked to rescue and bring people to safety, despite Ben being out of his element fighting Daleks, he didn't let it deter him from saving lives.
Mrs. Thornton fled with her family, everyone on the block's gone, it's only him, left.
Deep in his thoughts, playing the music that he was taught, Theodore watched the street that once filled with life, become empty, full of dread, shouting coming from all corners.
"Why aren't you with them?" Theodore felt her presence as she stepped through the door, pulling off her hat as she closed the door behind her, having eluded UNIT soldiers and the Daleks.
Dusting herself up as she walked through his flat, Lila replies, "I should ask you. They're enacting curfews tonight."
As he went to put up the violin, he heard Lila, "You're worried. You never play the violin unless it's either for me or something mighty's bothering you."
Frowning as he returned his violin back to its case, closing it with care, Theodore says, "I don't know what tomorrow may bring for us, my dear Watson."
Joining his side, Lila frowns as she says in earnest, "You'll kick his sorry ass back to Hell, Teddi."
That bastard killed one of her best friends, for no reason other than he wanted to twist the knife in her as he tried doing the same to her, hadn't Hamon intervened.
"This isn't our usual fair," Theodore reminds her as they walked towards the window, looking out to see the chaos happening outside, and Lila rested her head on his shoulder as she couldn't believe this was happening.
Still, she wasn't deterred, as she pointed out, "He's a cocky son of a bitch, Teddi, he'll think nothing of you, but then he'll get his when he least expects it."
The Master's arrogance will be the death of him, Lila's sure of it, he'll think nothing of Theodore, believing him nothing more than a child, incapable of surpassing his father, by the time the Master realizes he's wrong, it'll be too late, and they'll all celebrate.
"Lee," Theodore pulled her close, knowing that she meant well, but he didn't want her to get her hopes up, though she's stubbornly holding onto the hope that he comes out of this alive.
Sharply, Lila looked up to him, saying, "We melded, that counts for something, doesn't it?"
Two minds better than one, or something.
A gentle smile on his face, Theodore led her away from the window, bringing her towards the kitchen, he made them tea, hoping to calm Lila's nerves.
Over tea, the two discussed the concerns over tomorrow, how there's a chance that Theodore might not come home, that it may be him.
Alternatively, it could be all of them dying at the hand of the Master.
"What's going to happen to the TARDIS?" Lila asked him, ever since this morning, Al hadn't showed up, it's been quiet, and no amount of trying had him turn up.
He isn't even communicating telepathically with them, anymore, either.
"If anything happens to me… I want it to go to Hammond. Stubborn as he is, he'll make sure it's looked after," Theodore declared that if it's him that perishes, the TARDIS's going to Hammond.
Not something he expected happening, but these days of theirs being as they are, it's not a choice that went unnoticed.
Hammond was shocked as Lila, when his brother broached the idea with him, and after some debating, Hammond agreed to that if it was Theodore, he'll look after the TARDIS.
Because there's a chance there won't be anyone left for it to hone in on.
"And for you, my dear Watson…" Theodore's voice trailed as he shoved his large hand into his coat pocket, digging out something he wanted her to have, and as he presented it to her, Lila's chestnut eyes fell to a small box in his hand.
Opening it towards her, Theodore shows her a ring that he procured some time ago, kept it hidden until now, and he wanted to do it now, while he still had the chance.
Took a great care making sure that Lila didn't catch on, he made Al take a vow of silence, even.
It's a wedding ring.
Customed with a silver woven wedding band with a burgundy stone as the centerpiece, in reference to Lila's chestnut eyes, and how his mother's wedding ring had a gemstone likened to hers.
Touched by this, Lila mustered, "You sure?"
Slowly nodding, a smile on his face, Theodore insisted that it belongs to her, and she held out her left hand, as he took it into his free hand while slipping the elegant ring over her ring finger.
"When you get back, my father's going to want some words with you," Lila smiles at him as she held his hands, the chestnut gem embedded in the wedding ring glimmered under the light.
A weak smile on his face, Theodore pulled her forward, stealing kisses from her.
They may not have much longer together, but even if he didn't survive, he wants those stolen moments to last, if possible, before things turned out differently.
He whispered to her the quant words that his father whispered to his mother, they didn't translate well to English, but with their melding, Lila understood them perfectly.
She murmured, "Don't let him take you away from me, spaceman."
Theodore chuckled quietly, kissing her again, before saying, "I will endeavour to live up to your expectations."
"Good, good," Lila smirked, pulling him closer, as he continued to kiss her, not letting her go, as she wrapped her arms around him, as he held her tight, not wanting to lose her.
He told her how much she means to him, how he feels about her. How much he loves her. How many times she'd saved his sorry arse, and how he'd always save hers, whether from a monster or an alien invasion, it didn't matter, because they were together.
Lila's heart warmed as he admitted the truth about himself, and she pressed her lips against his, smiling softly, "I love you too, Teddi."
Theodore smiled as he replied, "Forever and always." The two parted their embrace and stared deeply into each other's eyes, before Theodore stood up, walked around to her side, reached down and gently picked her up, lifting her in his arms effortlessly as she wrapped her arms around him, carrying her bridal style to his bedroom, their eyes locked.
THE END
