Once we arrived at the funeral home I settled in the reception area. "Okay, sweetie…" Thomas J laid a sleeping Esme in the bassinet beside the desk. "If you need anything, anything at all, ring this." Thomas J sat a bell on the table as I nodded. "Also in case I didn't say it, I'm so proud of how you handled everything today." I smiled gratefully, as I started making notes of the things we needed. The phone started ringing Thomas J came over and picked up the phone, before I could even ring the bell. "Sultenfuss Sennett Funeral Parlor. Yes, We're still hiring, Umm how about tomorrow at 10 am? Perfect." He hung up, and said "Someone's interested in helping with the embalming process, and his wife wants to help with make up." I smiled and wrote on a paper. 'Thank you.' Thomas J nodded, and smiled.

"Here, let me take the list. I'll be back. I'm going to get the stuff on the list…" I shook my head. "It'll be Okay… Arthur is here. I told him to listen for the bell to help you, and Esme." I nodded. While he was gone I started writing out a story, by the time Thomas J came back, I had finished writing it up. "Hey What are you working on?" I shut the binder I was using, pointing to the name of the book. "'The Memoirs of Vada Margret Sultenfus-Sennett.'?" I nodded. "Can… Would you mind if I read it tonight?" I smiled, and wrote on a paper. 'Of course you can.' He smiled, as he went downstairs, promising to come back up when and if I needed him. There was a ring of the doorbell, so I picked up a pad of paper, before going to the door. "Mrs. Sennett… There has been an accident… A fatal one… 3 casualties." The police officer stated, as I wrote down 'Ages?' "One teen, and 2 Adults. The Families would like them done right away." I held up a finger and rang the bell, as Esme cried. I picked her up as Thomas J came over, I gestured to the door. He caught my drift before going and talking to the police officer while I fed Esme. "Hi Thomas J!" Harry's voice said as he ran excitedly. "Vada!" I smiled, as I sat the bottle, down, and burped the baby, as I wrote 'How was School?' "what's wrong? Why can't you talk?" Harry said scared. 'I got hurt, at school. It's okay. I have to be quiet for a day…' "Oh… School was good, I handed in my essay. The teacher said We'd get them back tomorrow, or the day after." I smiled and wrote 'I'm sure you'll get an A' "I hope so." I kissed his head. I drew in a quick breath. "Do you want me to get Thomas J?" I nodded, as Harry ran to Thomas J as I laid Esme down and sat in the chair. Thomas J came over, picking up the stethoscope, He gestured to me, as I lifted the shirt up, as he stuck the earpieces in his ears, before putting the bottom part on my stomach, counting the beats. "Oh no… Harry do me a favor, go get your shoes and coat on." He ran as Thomas J went to tell Arthur, then we went to the hospital. "Hi my wife is pregnant, and we're worried, about a possible miscarriage…" Thomas J said, holding me close to him, okay well his body supporting mine, 100%. "Have a seat, and we'll be with you in a moment…" The receptionist said, rather giving off the vibe of being annoyed. Thomas J said "That's not good enough! She needs to be seen immediately!" My head was on his chest.

"Sir, I understand… But We don't have a room, or available staff to help this second…" Thomas J looked at me, as he said "I DON'T CARE! SHE NEEDS TO BE SEEN. HER HEALTH AND MY CHILD'S HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT." One of the nurses came over and said "What's going on here?" "My wife needs to be seen right away… We're concerned about a miscarriage…" "Come with me, I'll take care of you guys." We followed her back, and got settled in a room. "Thank you." Thomas J said, as the nurse hooked me up to a few things. "We're going to do something called an ultrasound. It allows us to look at the baby without any invasive proceders… Would that be Okay?" I looked to Thomas J, who nodded.

"Mrs. Sennett?" The Nurse asked. I nodded too. Thomas J wrapped his arms around me, while the nurses and doctors preformed extensive testing. "Alright, you guys, so good news, You're not miscarrying, but the baby's heartbeat is very low… Probably because of the blood loss of his or her mom." Thomas J said "What's the plan?" The nurse said "We want to keep her overnight, and give her some blood transfusions…" "That's not going to work for us…" Thomas J stated. "We have two little ones at home, to take care of, and frankly I think we've had enough of hospitals…" I said "But if it's what needed, for the baby…"

The nurse said "Is there anyone else who can watch them?" I turned away from her broken, as Thomas J said "No… My parents just moved… and hers… Are no longer… alive…" His arms, secured around me. "Is there anyone? Whose watching them now?" I said "A friend." "Can you call them and see if they mind keeping them overnight?" I bit my lip, and said "We'll try…" she stepped out, as Thomas J, used the phone in the room. "Hey Arthur… Thomas J here… Yeah, they're going to be Okay, but they need to be overnight for observation… I know, is there anyway you could keep them overnight for us…? Please…" I gestured, to me. "Hey Arthur…" I said as soon as Thomas J handed the phone over to me. "Please… I know it's a lot to ask… But… Esme will be in day care tomorrow… and Harry will be at school… We'll pay, please… Thank you… Thank you!" We hung up, and I said "He'll watch them…" He smiled with relief, and said "Thank god…" We spent the night in the emergency department, much to my dismay. I personally have had my fills of hospitals, to be honest.
