Prompt: Peter forgot his homework
No no no. This could not be happening. Peter was freaking out as he frantically searched through his backpack.
"I know I finished it," he whispered to Ned. Peter was really beginning to panic. His history essay was missing. The one he stayed up until 2am trying to finish. The one he worked a full six hours on yesterday. Mrs. Matthews was super strict. If you didn't turn in an assignment by the due date, it was an automatic zero. There was no late grade or make up chances. If Peter couldn't find that paper then he was screwed. That single essay was worth twenty percent of his grade. So yeah, Peter was about two minutes away from a complete breakdown.
"Hey Pete. You're phone is ringing," Ned said, snapping Peter out of his searching frenzy enough to actually notice the ringing. Peter answered it, expecting even more world ending news.
"Hello?" Peter asked. He switched the call over to speaker in order to continue searching through his bag. Maybe the paper had magically teleported into his backpack since he last looked.
"Kid. You forgot your homework on the table," the amused voice of Dr. Strange said. Relief washed over Peter instantly. He didn't lose the paper after all. There was still a chance to save his grade.
"Oh thank god! I know you are probably super busy right now, but can you please drop it off real quick? It's due in like seven minutes," Peter said. He didn't care if he sounded like he was begging. He was fully willing to beg at this point if that's what it took.
"I am not currently busy. Where is your classroom?"
"It's room C213 on the second floor. But it's fine! I can just run outside and… you're outside the window," Peter trailed off, staring at the man levitating outside his classroom in a stunned silence. Little did he know the rest of his class, and several pedestrians, wore a matching expression.
"Could you open the window Peter?" Stephen asked. Peter blinked, snapping out of his shock enough to answer.
"The windows only open a crack. And even with that, there's still a screen in the way," Peter explained. Stephen nodded and a second later a portal appeared in front of Peter. It was no bigger than a basketball. Stephen's hand came through it, holding Peter's essay out to him. Peter took it and clutched it to his chest tightly.
"You are literally the best person ever. It's official. You just saved my grade. You earned the position of my favorite," Peter rambled excitedly, causing Stephen to chuckle.
"Glad to be of assistance," he said in response. A few seconds later he was gone, having left through another portal back to the tower. The only evidence he had been there at all was the paper clutched in Peter's hands. And the gobsmacked looks on his classmates' faces. Luckily, Peter was saved from an interrogation by the teacher walking in, followed by the bell ringing.
So I was on a ROLL yesterday. I wrote six chapters, three of which were for this story. I just didn't get them typed up until today. I don't know yet if I'm going to post all of them tonight or not, but at the very least I am posting this one. Probably the other two chapters for this fic if I'm being honest. The other three chapters can be posted tomorrow.
So fair warning. Updates might be a little bit slow this weekend since I have to work at the theatre the whole time, and my grandmother is coming down for thanksgiving. I'm still going to try to post but it might just be a bit in between. We had three people quit this week at the theatre, two of which were managers. All on different days too. Another manager is on medical leave for two weeks because he had knee surgery. That basically leaves 4-5 employees to do everything. It's an easy job, thank goodness, but it's annoying how fast we go through employees. I've been working here since October 2nd and I've seen like 10 people quit or get fired. Heck, one chick was fired the day I started working here.
But anyway, yeah. I'm going to try writing while I'm in the arcade, but I have no idea when that'll be so we'll see. I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter! Have a happy thanksgiving and I'll see you all on the next update! Please Follow, Favorite, and Review!
