'Why does it have to be like this?" Eddy's groaning thought as he exited out of his last class for the day, rummaging deeply into his pocket getting his phone out. Quickly scrolling to send a message to Ed and Double D to meet him up. As he began walking, he couldn't help but stop to see the girl who's been constantly on his mind. As Marie walked out of the classroom across from him laughing with her sister May, his heart ached deeper having to see her everyday knowing at the same time a massive distance and she seemed to ignore him even when he tried to get her attention. He felt an urge to follow her and speak to her but he knew better than do such a thing, especially after what he did.
"Eddy, what's wrong?" A hand gently touching his shoulder while another waving in his face trying to get his attention, black and blonde hair entering his field of view obscuring Marie out his vision. "Hello Eddy," a recognizable female voice as she turned to see what he was staring at. "Think he's zoning on Marie Babe." Eddy not wanting to lose Marie in the ever-growing crowding of students moved to get a better position to see her as another pair of hands replacing the one's from before. "What the?" Feeling the pressure on his shoulders as his green jack wearing friend Ed appeared, knowing it'll be impossible to continue when it came to the strength of Ed who began shaking him out of his trance.
"Eddy, come back to us!" He saw a blur of the world as the glimpse of Marie's blue hair disappeared into the large crowd of students as he saw something unusual. "Did that just happen … dammit, I can't see properly!" His heart beating but at the same time in defeat as he let out a sigh of frustration letting his friends know he wasn't happy as Eddy turn to his friends. "Okay guys, I'm back to reality." He put as much strength into his arms to push his tall friend. "Now let me go Ed!" As Ed loosen his grip letting Eddy get a start toward the doors exiting out of the school he didn't want to look back as it would probably be the look of pity on their face's.
Ed and Double D were in an intense conversation about conspiracy theories as Eddy half listen with Nazz giving him her usual advice. Seeing their homes at the cul-de-sac coming up suddenly got her quiet and she dashed toward Double D locking arms … already showing sign of a rush. "Double D and I are going to be studying together alone today guys." Ed getting a big smile. "Aww, Can I go too Double D!" Eddy saw Double D feeling bad as he seemed to be thinking of a reasonable excuse, Eddy knew what to do grabbing Ed by the wrist. "Ed, they want some alone time." Let's hang out at our spot it'll be on me." Eddy glance towards his friends seeing they haven't left. "You guys have fun studying, send a text if you want to hang out later with me and Ed." Giving them the signal to go with his head as he let go of Ed who seemed happy. As he watched them go, Eddy gave Ed a pat on the back as he went toward his house stepping closer to the door and grabbing the doorknob, he turned back to Ed "See you later Ed!" the loud response was enough to let the whole cul-de-sac hear as Ed turned back smiling. "See you later Eddy!" Making sure Ed went home, he turned around to the entrance of his living room closing the door behind him "Mom, I'm home." Not wasting time walking in the direct path of his room as his mother voice welcomed him home, he shut his door and got all the homework out of his backpack which he threw on the floor, exhausted but no choice but to get it done before hanging out with Ed.
Eddy couldn't get what he saw today out of his head, mental flashes of Marie looking back at him as he walked along side with Ed to their favorite hangout spot. As they slowly approached the small but busy building, the bell on the door rang letting everyone inside know they're walking in. Some giving a glance, a few saying hello, and others losing interest. "Go find us seats Ed, I'll order for us," Eddy headed toward the counter getting their usual order and using that time to look around. It was a slight disappointment knowing they might be early as he went toward the seat area Ed had picked.
"We should go watch this movie Eddy! It's the sequel to "Space Goats Nine." Barely sitting down, showing the movie trailer on Eddy from his phone which depicted a goat with a space gun fighting off a group of bad guys. "Ed, I'm not sure I can sit through these movies you want me to watch." Ed began giving him the saddest puppy eyes as Eddy let out a groan of defeat. "Fine! We'll watch it but I'm sneaking in snacks … you guys better not stop me!" Eddy was just going with the flow now as Ed continued about the movie, his attention immediately shifted hearing the bell of the door, familiar voices letting their presence be known. "Come on Marie!" Seeing May pulling Marie inside.
"Hold your horse's May!" Her irritated voice making Eddy smile until she glanced around and directly look at him turning into further annoyance, watching her saying something to May who also turned to look at them before turning away as Marie herself went to the restroom giving him a glance before going inside. He knew she wasn't happy with him being there, but he came up with a plan. "Eddy, where you going?" Ed had a confused expression on his face as he got up. "Hold on Ed, I want to do something. Be back real quick." Without hesitation, he walked over to where May sat, "Hey Eddy." who looked at him with a smile as she put her phone away. Giving her a smile back, "Hey May." Trying not to back down while clearing his throat., "Can," the words were becoming stuck, but he didn't want to mess this up. "Can I get you and your sister sundaes?" May seemed to be surprised by his offer as she got silent for a moment.
"Sure Eddy, but why are you being so nice so suddenly?" Her face saying it all as her brow went up in question of his behavior. "I have my reason…" He took his eyes off her while staring at nothing particular gathering his thoughts as he made eye contact with her. "May also do me a favor, please don't let your sisters know about this." giving her a smile but her smile seem to quickly disappear as she studied his face for something which felt like an eternity. "Won't say a word, Eddy." May smiling again. "Thank you May, enjoy the sundaes." He got up satisfied as breathed a sigh of relief.
"What do I do" Marie thought as she washed her face with cold water while rubbing at her forehead, the mirror reflecting what she felt. "Eddy is here. He got so happy to see me, usually we show up later in the night." Grabbing a paper towel to dry her face and hands. "Dammit May" as she got her resolve to face whatever outside is waiting for her to happen.
