Walking the streets of E-Rantel today was a new group of adventurers
A paladin in white full plate armor with golden highlights, and two giant great swords on his back
A spiritualist in similarity colored robes, that covered her face
A warrior in strange rad armor, and the biggest helmet anyone had ever seen. In his back was a long sword with a similarly strange design
A magic caster in a blackish green robe, and a strange metal mask. At his side was a staff topped with a blue sapphire
And a magic caster in a blue and silver robe, and a bizarre mask
Their appearance's alone drew many eyes, however something that surprised many was around their neck's was a copper plate
Their clearly expensive gear and copper plates made the minds of many turn. Where were they from? Who were they? What great adventures had they gone on. Despite all the possibilities they came up with, no one would believe it if they were told what they were really thinking about
'I AM GOING TO KILL HIM!' Touch Me yelled out though the [Message]
They had left Ulbert and Peroroncino behind because they would be to conspicuous, so Ulbert had used the opportunity to do something to make Touch Me mad again. The problem was that the other Supreme Being weren't even sure what it was this time. They had been talking about what they should do while they were in town, but then Ulbert had said something about one of Touch Me's armor sets and it devolved into this
Most if the Supreme Beings were trying to calm them down or ignored them, but surprisingly to even himself Momonga was actually enjoying it. It reminded him of YGGDRASIL, of simpler times. Until his emotional suppressor kicked in and he was back to normal
'Well then why don't you come get it? Don't tell me the incredible Touch Me is scared of some like me?'
It was a bad insult but it made Touch Me made all the same
'Can you two stop yelling at each other. We're almost at the adventurer's guild.' Yamaiko said
'Wait when did we start going to the adventure's guild?' Touch Me asked
'About three minutes into your fight.' Tabula replied
'Ah.'
As they walked into the guild they saw many differently dressed adventurers, many of whom were looking at the new faces
They walked to the quest board, reading the different quests posted to on it, but in doing so one of their fears came true
'I can't read any of this.' Yamaiko said simply
'I thought it was your job to learn this language?' Peroroncino said surprising the Supreme Beings who forgot he was in the [Message]
Before this they had the [Eight-Edge Assassin]'s gather some documents and examples of this worlds language, so they could translate them with a magic item and learn its language
'I can't just learn an entire language in a week. All I know right now are some words and phrases, and not nearly enough to even began reading this.'
'Then what's are we going to do? We can't ask other people.' Momonga said
'Why don't we just for the highest level quest we can go on?' Tabula suggested
'Alright, let's try that.' Touch me said
The group began to walk over to the walked over to the reception desk, but as they did so a voice called out to them
"Didn't find anything? How about to help us with our work then."
The Supreme Beings turned to see a group of four adventurers, with silver plates around their neck
"What do you mean by that?"
"We have a job that you might find worth your time."
'That's... cryptic, but also our best lead. What do you guys think?' Takemikazuchi asked
'Well it's not like he would say all of the details right now, and its not like anything bad could happen from this.' Yamaiko reasoned
The other Supreme Beings followed behind Touch Me as he went to where the adventurers were leading them
"First let's introduce ourselves." He began "I'm the leader of the "Swords of Darkness," Peter Mauk. That fellow over there is the eyes and ears of our team, the ranger Lukrut Volve."
Lukrut gave a playful wave to the Supreme Beings
"Next is our magic caster and the brains of our group, Ninya, The Spellcaster."
"Peter, can you not use that embarrassing nickname?"
"Eh? But it's a good one."
"You have a nickname?" Ainz asked
"He's a talent holder, and a genius magic caster."
"How so?" Tabula asked. He had been interested in the talents of this world as soon as he learned of them for the sunlight scripture
"I'm not sure how it works, but from what I know it only took me four years to learn something that normally took eight."
'Interesting' Tabula said 'something like that normally would need [Wish Upon a Star] to happen. With something like that-'
'We're not kidnapping him.' Touch Me said cutting him off
"He's a famous talent holder here because of that."
"Well theirs still people much more famous then me."
"You mean like blue rose?" Lukrut asked
"I was thinking of Nfirea."
"Well that only makes sense, after all he has an amazing talent and is the son of lizzie." Peter said
"What kind of talent does he have?" Tabula asked without thinking
The Swords of Darkness looked surprised at that question. Touch Me was about to cover for what Tabula had said before they came to their own conclusion
"Your not from here are you?" The finale member who had not been introduced said
"Yes, in truth we only arrived here yesterday." Touch Me said
"That makes sense, he's famous but not so much so that someone from far way would about know him."
"Right, I've never heard about him before, what can you tell me?" Tabula asked
"He's the grandson of a famous herbalist. His talent allows him to use any magic item. Not only can he use scrolls of a different spellcasting system from himself, he can even use items made by the non-human races. Even items restricted to those of royal blood shouldn't be a problem either."
"Oh." Was the only thing Tabula could say to that. All of the different possibilities rushed through his and the other Supreme Beings heads
'We're not kidnapping him either.' Touch Me said interrupting his thoughts
"Is something wrong?" Peter asked sensing the silence that had befallen the group after hearing about Nifrea
"Oh, no, it's fine. Speaking of which, could you tell us about your last friend?" Touch Me said
"Yes. He's a druid — Dyne Woodwonder. He uses healing spells and magic that controls nature, and he's well versed in herbal lore. Let him know if there's anything wrong with your body."
The man gave a friendly wave over to the Supreme Beings
"Then I suppose it's time for us to introduce ourselves. I'm Kirai, this is Meiyo." Touch Me said pointing to Takemikazuchi
"Hello." He said simply
"That is Herupu, our Spiritualist."
"Nice to meet you."
"Hermes, one of our magic casters." He said pointing to Tabula
"Hi."
"And finally Kazoku, our other magic caster."
"Pleased to meet you."
"Right, while it feels a little wrong to get to business so abruptly, we should probably start discussing the job. As for that, the truth is what we're asking you for doesn't really qualify as work."
'Then why the hell are we here?' Tabula asked in the message
"What do you mean by that?" Touch Me asked out loud
"We're hunting monsters, when we do so the city council pays us based on the strength of the monsters we kill."
"For us, it's making a living, but what we do also reduces the danger to the surrounding people. The traders can come and go in peace and the country can collect its taxes. All in all, it's a way to earn money without anyone losing out" Dyne said
'So it's like farming monsters for their drops.' Takemikazuchi said
Peter spread a map on the table
"We'll be looking around here" Peter said pointing to a area near the city
"What kind of monsters can we expect?" Takemikazuchi asked
The Swords of Darkness turned to look at Ninya
"We'll probably run into some [Goblins] and the wolf's they raise, but other then that their shouldn't be any strong monsters. On the plains the most we'll run into are [Ogre's]."
"We won't be entering the forest?"
"No, their are many dangerous monsters in the forest that we can't handle so we'll be staying on the plains."
"How about it, want to lend a hand?" Peter asked
"I seems good, but before that I have to asked you what you plan is for payment."
"Yes that is important, our plan is to split it based on the numbers of out teams
"Well that's alright with us, but seeing as we are going to be working together I think we should show you our faces."
The Supreme Beings each removed their masks or other coverings revealing illusionary faces, each with dark hair
When Yamiko showed her illusionary face Lukrut seemed to have some kind of glint in his eyes that seemed eerily familiar
'I don't like how that look.' Yamiko said
'Agreed' Touch Me replied
"I see you must be from far away which is why you covered you faces." Peter reasoned
"Your right we did not want to attract unnecessary attention to us."
As the Supreme Beings re-covered their faces a girl like the one they saw at the reception desk entered the room
"I apologize for intruding but someone has specifically requested for you."
"Us?" Peter asked
"No the new copper plates."
"I'm sorry but we already have agreed to accompany these fellows so." Touch Me said
"What are you saying!?" Peter shouted out
"But we have already agreed to help you."
"Our work hardly counts as a job, if we were to not encounter any monsters, you wouldn't get payed."
"Well then how about we listen to the details and make a decision then."
"Alright."
The Supreme Beings went down stars, finding Nfirea to be their employer. They listened to his request and began thinking
'It seems good, but I don't want to just leave the Swords.' Yamiko said
'How about they just go along with us, we would need a druid and ranger in the forest.' Takemikazuchi suggested
'That seems good but one thing still bothers me.' Tabula replied
"Just one question, why did you decide to hire us for this?"
"Most of the adventurers that I normally hire have left the city, so when I heard what happened in the tavern I thought that you would probably be my best bet. Also... I thought that a copper plate would be cheaper."
'I still don't completely buy that... I'm going keep an eye on him.'
"Peter, how about we combine our teams for this, it would be helpful to have a Druid and ranger in a forest. If we find any monsters then we can kill them and gain the reward" Touch Me suggested
"That sound good good to me, we can split the reward based on what we discussed earlier."
"Perfect, now then let's go."
